Brotherly Advice
Summary: Puck notices Jake watching Marley with Ryder and gives him some advice. Rated T for the Puckerman brothers language. Set in some time in Season 4. My first story so please don't flame, constructive criticism is appreciated :)
"I know you like her." Puck said as he pulled up a chair next to his younger brother.
"You don't know shit." Jake muttered "And I don't know what you mean."
Puck sighed resting his head on his hand. "Marley, you like her. A lot. It's the classic high school cliché. Bad boy falls for good girl."
"What's it to you? I mean, maybe I do like her. What would you know about this anyway? You've never noticed a girl for long enough to actually feel anything, just to get in their pants." Jake groaned angrily.
"I'm your brother, whether you like it or not. And we are a lot more similar than you think..." Puck scratched at the back of his Mohawk nervously. "I never told anyone this before so you gotta swear not to tell anyone, OK?"
Jake looked confused "What do you mean? You didn't even tell Finn?"
Puck laughed a little "Especially not Finn. He'd rip my head off. There was this girl... Rachel"
"You loved her?" Jake asked.
"More than life itself" Puck whispered. "She was perfect for me. At first she was loud and obnoxious and her voice made me want to light myself on fire. But something changed... something big. I realised that she was loud to cover up the fact that what people say genuinely hurt her feelings. I mean... we only went out for a week and even then I knew I was such an idiot to let her go. I told her that I didn't want to be friends, that we'd never been friends in the first place, but I was hurt. I admit it, I'd started to like having her as my girl, and when she dumped me it really hurt. The worst part was that she dumped me for Finn. Finn! My goofy best friend who couldn't make his mind up whether he actually liked her or not. I stopped throwing slushies for her, I stopped throwing people in dumpsters, except Jewfro but he deserves it, I sang for her, I even gave up football for her. But I let her go. And I regret it every day." Jake could see the pain in his brothers eyes as he finished, "Don't let her go. Don't be like me. At least tell her how you feel before it's too late... Before she's getting married to your best friend, and they're moving to New York together and you have to be the supportive best man and pretend you aren't falling apart on the inside."
"Trust me. It hurts" Pucks voice cracked, he turned away, not wanting Jake to see the tears in his eyes. Dammit, he was supposed to be a badass. But how was he supposed to be mean and strong when all he wanted to do was curl up into a ball and cry and beg Rachel to come back to him. Puck walked out of the room, leaving Jake to his thoughts. Jake heard the familiar sound of a fist denting a locker as his brother walked away. He knew he had to do something to get Marley back, had to take Pucks advice.
I have just the idea.
