I do not own merlin

The next day Merlin was released. When asked about it Uther would not tell the reason only saying he could think of no clear reason to execute him. Merlin even though the king had in a way given him permission to use magic still made an effort to not use it in public. The laws against magic still stood and Uther still executed sorcerers. Merlin was the exception.

Two years passed and Merlin continued using magic to save Arthur. The two of them meet and became great friends with a group of men Leon, Percival, Gwaine, Lancelot, and Elyon. They also became great friends with the maid Gwen and Arthur and her fell in love.

Arthur and his father although there was much tension at first began to repair the bond that had been Broken. Uther eventually grew old and died in his sleep of an illness even magic couldn't cure. Arthur was sadden by this but happy he got the chance to know his father again.

A week after Arthur's coronation the ban on magic was repealed for both boys it was the happiest day of their lives both beaming with joy over their freedom or the freedom of their friend.

Many changes in the royal court were made too. Merlin was made court sorcerer and adviser to the king, the boys friends who were not already were made knights. And Arthur was married to Gwen.

After some time Arthur decided upon something merlin was none too thrilled about.

"merlin get packed we are going on a trip" he said to his court sorcerer as he barged in to his room startling the warlock and causing him to knock over the potion he had spent the morning preparing he sighed and turned to Arthur, who at least had the decency to look slightly guilty, and glared.

" oh no we are not going on another one of your hunting trips, in case you haven't noticed your king now I hardly think you need to hunt for you food." He said before turning back to clean up the spilled potion.so much for the cure for the common cold he thought

"it's not a hunting trip we are going to Ealdor" Arthur said. Merlin froze in his cleaning. Arthur regarded him worriedly when he didn't say anything after some time. He was about time say something when merlin spoke it was quiet and Arthur was barely able to make it out.

"no"

" merlin"

"I said no Arthur" this time he said it much louder as he turned to face Arthur distress clearly written on his face. Arthur hated to make his friend feel this way but knew it had to be done. With a sigh Arthur continued.

"merlin your court sorcerer of Camelot now they may have been horrible to you in the past but that was because they didn't understand now you can show them the truth about magic." when merlin didn't reply Arthur spoke again in a slightly more annoyed tone

"besides I had to come home and you got to see where I lived before I meet you and meet my dad now I want to meet your mum and see where you lived." He was meet with a glare

"It's only fair" Arthur said with a smirk

"you're not going to let this go are you"

"nope" merlin sighed

"fine" he rolled his eyes at Arthurs triumphant grin

"prat"

The next day, With reluctance and Arthur at his side, the two boys made their way to the village that for merlin had started it all. After a day's ride Arthur and merlin arrived In Ealdor. Merlin felt his stomach twist as he entered the familiar village. Many people had stopped and stared at the two men arriving on horseback. Most people's eyes showed confusion or uncertainty but there were a few who's eyes held recognition and then shock as they stared at the boy who had last been a small boy the last time they had seen him, running away from the village as they declared him evil for his use of sorcery. they had of course heard of the change of law in Camelot and how he was made court sorcerer. The view on magic had slowly started to change and those that did remember the boy lowered their heads in shame after recovering from the shock.

Arriving at the house he remembered to well even now he got off his horse and walked up to the door he looked to his side to see Arthur give him a reassuring smile. With this he gathered up all his courage and knocked on the door. After a few moments it opened to reveal a woman of middle age her hair in the process of greying. Her eyes widened with shock.

"hello mother" merlin said in a quiet voice that quavered with emotion and gave her a smile. That seemed to be all she needed because the next thing he knew he was being pulled into an embrace witch he gladly returned.

"welcome home"
