"Just a little … more." The injured human gasped, struggling to move in a line, using the wall to keep himself steady.

'Just ahead, in that room on your left.' The voice told him.

Hearing that he was near his goal spurred him on, filling him with the thought of an answer as to why he was doing this.

Canterlot Castle

"Yes Black Shadow, that seems to be the best plan of action. But I'd like to bring Twilight and her friends with me." Celestia said.

"Yes Princess, but time is of the essences. We need to cover as much ground as possible." The black stallion informed.

"Right the sooner we finish this, the sooner we can get back to living normally again." Twilight spoke up.

The rest nodded and split up, each having their own objective in mind.

On the way to the guard quarters. The mane six and both Princesses talked about the events that had just happened.

"Where do you think that horrid beast had gone?" Rarity spoke up.

"I'd believe that it'll head to something filled with magic properties, for what I wouldn't know." Twilight had answered.

Celestia, who had stopped began to speak. "Twilight, what have you done? Do you have the smallest idea of the terror you have unleashed upon us all?" Celestia had asked, a great concern laced in her voice.

The mane six had looked concerned. Luna had also looked towards her older sister.

"What are you talking about Princess, you and Princess Luna could easily take that thing, and we even still have the elements." Rainbow Dash boasted, the confidence wavered in her voice, as if unsure herself.

"Friends, that still does not defeat the seriousness of the matter. Not only is there a beast of unspeakable evil that is loose and you Twilight had knowing what that spell would do and still used it." Luna spoke.

"That spell was the only way I could get you to listen to me, that ... that THING is a monster, that spell is made to show one's true nature. Now you see that i was right." Twilight defended.

The Princesses looked at Twilight, contemplating her words. The spell did bring out anyone's true nature, but it was banned for the effect of killing the victim.

"Even so Twilight. Your methods were more than extreme." Celestia pointed out. "Even if your assumptions were just, they were far from right."

Twilight muttered under her breath "You still don't understand…". With nothing left they continued to move to the guards quarters.

The human pushed his way through the cluttered room. Tripping over his own feet, grabbing on an old grandfather clock for balance.

'You're almost there. It's here. Can't you feel it?' The voice had told him.

Something he couldn't put his finger on, but there was something here, drawing him to this room, towards the back. Pushing with his strength, he shuffled around, in the back, a glare of sunlight had momentarily blinded him, caused by a stray ray of sunlight through a crack between the curtains, catching on something shining. Stumbling, the human made his way to the shine.

'Yes, Yes! There, you've found it!' The voice exclaimed excitedly.

What the human had found was a blade, a broad sword, shining as the day it was first tempered. It sat in a case, looked untouched by the hands of time. Reaching for the case, opening it and taking the relic in hand. It had spoke along with the voice in his mind as well.

"Yes I knew you were the one. My meister. I am here to serve you." She spoke.

A flash of light and a crack of thunder, a pony had appeared in front of him, tall with a beautiful silver coat and a mane as white as snow. She turned to him and kneeled. "I am here to serve you, you are my master and my meister, bound together by the string of fate." she spoke.

"Your name, what should i call you?" The human asked shakily.

She rose and smiled at him. "You can call me Excalibur."

Everypony turned their heads to the flash of light emanating from one of the castle rooms in the far left wing. The Lunar guard had already snapped into action and began investigating what had happened. A human had stood in the hallways, a sword by his side. He took notice and the air seemed to crackle and tingle with electricity near him, he shuffled over and collapsed before them.

Everfree Old Castle Ruins

"So I'm your master, and meister." The human spoke, clearly interested in his new companion and weapon.

She gave a laugh, "Of course, I serve you now, I will follow you and won't question your commands. You have the power to take magical energy and convert it into your own, and that makes you more than superior to your other half.

This caught his attention. "My other half. Explain." He demanded.

"Your … incomplete in a way. You are one side to a coin, every coin has two sides, just like your human nature. A battle of what's right and what's wrong in a being. For humans, caring and compassion for one side, and the other is cruel and uncaring." The sword explained.

He gave a bitter smile, "There's a saying back in my world, Kindness is weakness. In that world, the world where greed ran the hearts of men. That's where I belong, and where i shall return to. But ruling two worlds are better than one." A slow dark chuckle escaped his lips. He lifted his hand high in the air, and it was engulfed in flames. "I am the torch of evolution."

Canterlot Castle

The human rested on the bed, the room smelled like disinfectant.

"Are you doing well?" A voice spoke.

The human turned to the door and Luna, along with his group. "Yeah guys, i'm ok, just tired." he tried to reassure them.

"Are you sure you're ok?" Fi asked. The human nodded.

"Well we got your belongings here for you." Apollo said.

The sword had started to glow, and it caught everypony's attention. Excalibur spawned from the blade. "My master." she smiled sadly, "It would seem that even with my help, your wound is too great." She nuzzled him gently.

"James? who's your friend?" Spooky asked.

"Well, this is my partner and she tried to heal me. And i'm not James, at least I don't feel like it. I can feel something missing from my body, as if incomplete."

"That is because you are. Your other half is missing. You're the light, he's the dark. Humans like any mortal are capable of good and bad. But before he did take something from you. The ability to take magical energy and to make it your own." Excalibur informed.

Everypony looked on in silence. Letting what she had said sink in.

"So i'm at a disadvantage, i'm bedridden with have no way of using magic, and even if I could, he could just absorb it and use it against me." The human said.

Excalibur nodded, "It's a rough start."

"But even so, i'm not willing to give up." the human said.

"Hahahaha, I am glad to hear that friend." Black Shadow spoke up.

"Don't worry you have us and the Lunar guard to help you out. When you need us.

The human nodded, "But first I need an identity of my own. I'm not James, and I know my "Other half" isn't James as well." The human took time think. An idea flashed in his mind, " Wait, who was the one who cast the spell?"

"That would be Princess Twilight Sparkle, My sister's most prized pupil." Luna answered.

"Then I'll let her be he one to decide who I am. She's the one who had created me through splitting me in two." He said.

Let me first appologize for the wait with this, but im back and writing again. Life has been busy and I havent had alot of free time, but summer is here and im a high school grad. So I got no real exuses anymore not to get this story rolling. So im back and i want to say sorry for letting this die for like, year I think. Well see you guys next time!
