Oh.

She stared wide-eyed for a moment before she could feel her face flame up and her hands came up to cover her cheeks in pure embarrassment.

Eren scratched his cheek sheepishly, not quite understanding Kagome's reaction, "I'm not sure what a date really is, but you said you wanted to go on it, right?"

"Go, now," Levi quickly dismissed everyone except for Eren and Kagome, and all began to walk away, though Armin and Mikasa gave a quick look to their brunet friend while Connie and Sasha playfully slapped him on the shoulder, "Oi, brat."

"O-oh, right," Kagome felt a little relieved that they were not in front of an audience anymore, but still tapped her fingers nervously, "I did say that, didn't I?"

"So, what the hell is a 'date'?" Levi's brow rose as Kagome blinked, looking surprised, "You never told us what it meant exactly."

"You did ask if it is a form of courtship," Kagome recalled the conversation that happened quite a while ago, "You could call dating a form of it," She looked thoughtful now, a bit lost on how to explain what a date was, "It's where people go on outings to see if they are compatible with each other... in a more intimate way."

"You just go out?" Eren asked, tilting his head, "Like, outside? For walks or something?" If that what a date was, then it should be easy even for him.

"Dates can be anything, really," Kagome nodded, "Anything that the people both agree on. It could be a simple walk or even going to the bar. It can be a long process and people can date for years before they get married."

"You, at a bar?" Levi scoffed, "Even if this not the Underground, you would be taken advantage of almost immediately." He could not even imagine what a drunk Kagome would look like.

Kagome huffed before she relented, "You're probably right," She muttered, "I wouldn't want to get drunk on a date to begin with... or ever, really."

"We will probably have a few months of rest before our next mission to recapture Wall Maria," Levi stared at her intently, "You can have your dates in those days."

"Like I said, it's a process," Kagome murmured, knowing there was certainly much more with what she had with Levi and Eren in comparison to her few dates with Houjo, "But yes, it would be nice just to relax." She smiled bashfully.

"So, what would you like to do?" Eren asked eagerly, having a great desire to just be around Kagome without one of them being kidnapped or something similar, "We can do anything you want!"

"If it's okay, a walk through the city is fine with me," Kagome bit her lip, "I would like to know more about you two. Your life before you came across me."

"I still want to learn Japanese," Levi stated bluntly, "Teach me. I will consider that as an equal exchange."

Kagome looked startled, "That would not be very romantic," She flushed a little at the word before smiling again, "But if that is what you want, it's fine with me."

"So, uh, who do you want to go with first?" Eren asked, running his hand through his hair, looking away with a small flush of his own, "I'm fine with either way. I know Historia wants to open an orphanage, so she'll want help with that. And I might be doing Titan experiments too. I can wait." He honestly did not want to, however.

"I'll be busy planning with Erwin for the next few days most likely," Levi crossed his arms, "You brats can go first."

Eren could not help but to grin while Kagome nodded, looking a little shy once again as she looked towards him, "Anytime is good with me."

"Then let's go right now!" Eren grabbed her hands, causing her to jump, "Before any interruptions can happen again."

"Yes, they do happen a lot," Kagome agreed, slowly squeezing Eren's hands as they finally wandered into a territory where they did not know what would happen, "I'll be happy to."

"I'll just go tell Mikasa and Armin and the others first," Eren let go of her hand, running off to where his friends had walked off to, "Just wait here for a second!"

"Tch, what a greedy little bastard," Levi rolled his eyes as Kagome smiled, "I will take you to a place that is... important to me." He said quietly.

"Oh, okay," Kagome simply answered, "I look forward to it, Levi," She said with sincerity, "We can go when you're finished planning with Commander Smith."

"Don't let Jaeger too carried away," Levi poked her forehead, causing her to pout as he began to walk away, "Get changed," He glanced back at her military uniform, "There's a simple set of clothes in my room. Get Jaeger to take you there." And with that, he was walking out of sight down the long hallway.

"Your room?!" Kagome felt her face heat up again, "Why your room?!" She called out, but received no answer as she let out a breath, preparing herself.

A date sounded pleasant.

~00~

She fidgeted.

'Definitely simple,' Kagome decided, pulling on her clothes for what seemed like the millionth time, 'They don't feel like clothes to go on a date.' All Levi had for her was a simple long-sleeved white shirt and black pants without any footwear so she simply had to wear the boots that she already had.

Eren was casual too with his normal shirt, a long hooded coat, and brown pants, though it still made her feel a bit self-conscious.

"Don't worry," Eren finally said, noticing her fidgeting, "It's not like I care for fashion or anything," He scratched his head, "I think dresses are expensive."

"I don't expect anything like that!" Kagome quickly said, knowing she probably would have worn one or a skirt if she were in her own time, "A date isn't about the clothes anyway!"

"So, do we just walk around?" Eren asked, still not fully understanding the date concept as he never had desired anything like a relationship before, "We can eat. I have money for that."

"Yes, if that's okay," Kagome looked away, her arm shaking as she clumsily reached for Eren's hand to hold in her own, to which he eagerly entwined his fingers with hers, "I would like to know more about you, Eren."

"My life was good and not so good at the same time," Eren tightened his fingers, "Back when I was a kid, it was good. I had my mom and dad and Mikasa and Armin," His eyes narrowed, "But that changed when I was just ten. My mom... was eaten by a Titan as I watched."

"I..." Kagome looked down, feeling her eyes water momentarily, "I'm so sorry. It might just sound like empty words, but I truly do mean it."

"I know you do," Eren smiled as they walked through the Trost District, "Mom was everything to me. I will kill every last Titan for what they have done."

The Priestess sighed, "My life was normal until I turned fifteen," She began, wanting to distract Eren from Titan talk, "A certain event happened and then I had to learn how to fight to stay alive. I saw... some horrible things," She admitted, knowing she would never forget the gruesome sights of the Sengoku Era, "Inuyasha... protected me and Sesshoumaru taught me."

"Inuyasha..." Eren repeated, looking straight ahead with a thoughtful expression, "You said you loved him. Did anything happen?"

"Nothing could come of it," Kagome smiled grimly, "It was not meant to be. I still don't know what fully happened in that month."

Eren stayed quiet for a moment, "This isn't a very good date, is it?" He asked bluntly, "I'm sorry. I don't know how these kind of relationships work."

"I don't either," Kagome laughed, tightening her hand with Eren's, "Nothing major has to change. We just grow more affectionate as time goes on, I think."

"Y-you mean like hugging?" Eren swallowed thickly as his face heated up and he felt a desire he had never felt before, "And kissing?"

"M-maybe not yet," Kagome said just as shakily as Eren, "A kiss on the cheek is good, right?" She looked to the brunet with wide eyes, unsure how to proceed.

"Captain Levi has kissed you, hasn't he?" Eren tightened his lips, "Then maybe we could...?"

"Eren, I am four years older than you," Kagome replied softly, "I don't know the consent rules here and I don't want to take advantage of you. It just wouldn't..." She trailed off.

"Consent? I am a soldier. I am considered as an adult," Eren shrugged, "There's no need to worry. Hugging and kissing on the cheek is fine," His face grew a deep red, "S-sex is, well, uh..."

"Neither of us is ready for that," Kagome answered, her face red as well, "This is what dating is for. It's a process."

"Right," Eren closed his eyes, "But you could be taken away from me," His teeth gritted and his grip on Kagome's hand turned almost painful, "By those mass murders. They're waiting for us."

"It won't happen," Kagome shook her head, "I won't allow it," She said firmly, 'And the Shikon won't either, if it's truly on my side.'

"I'll do whatever it takes to protect you, Kagome," Eren vowed, "I promise. Reiner and Bertolt won't get near you."

"That's right," Kagome narrowed her eyes, "I will completely focus on the Beast Titan. It took something from me and I want it back."

The Azusa Bow was irreplaceable after all.

Eren remained silent, "I suck at this," He sighed, "It supposed to be a good time and we're talking about Titans."

Kagome laughed, "Tell me about Mikasa-san and Armin," She stopped walking when Eren did as he stared down at the ground, "Eren, are you all right?"

"Have you ever seen the sea?" Eren asked with a blank face, "A salt lake that is so big that merchants could never deplete it even if they spent their whole lives extracting salt?" He repeated the words Armin had said so many times before.

"I... have," The Priestess looked at Eren hesitantly, "It's a beautiful and deadly thing, but I never really thought much of it. I didn't hate it, though I didn't love it either."

"Is that so?" Eren said before he abruptly leaned down to kiss her on the cheek, which heated up immediately, "Maybe if you see it with us, you will think differently."

"With you and Levi," Kagome softly rubbed the spot where Eren kissed her, "I am sure I will love the sight of it."

"I really am crappy at this dating thing," Eren grinned, pulling her along, "Let's go get something to eat! I can't afford meat though."

She was not so good at it either.
