A/N: SpiritofLove961 - I wouldn't mind seeing a fic of Miyuki's and Sawamura's wedding night. I hope it's not to vague, but in regards to where they go for the honeymoon, surprise me! Thank you!
/sweats
Oh m y gOD. Okay so this fic was hard to write for me. Not because it's a theme I don't like, (though I admit the theme was challenging since I've never written something like this) but
/screams into the abyss
The heat has been making things so hard for me. I don't want to do anything and ok maybe I want to drown myself in cold water. I'm constantly melting in my house. The ventilation is terrible here and my fan broke down a month ago. In short: I'm slowly dying.
So how did I finish this 14k+ monster of a fic? I don't know, through sheer will power or I think because I want the miyusawa babies to have their happy ending and this entry is my final chapter for this collection. I just had a lot of FEELINGS writing this. I really hope you like it, Spirit. I doubt it's exactly what you wanted, but since you gave me free reign on how I should make it work, I tried. I REALLY DID. I even looked up a few things because Japan is too freakin' pretty, OH and for the sake of fanfiction, let's pretend gay marriage is legal in Japan, you know, that whole shazam with a ceremony (which I actually don't write the whole ceremony, just the proposal trolol)
This, of course, is rated M because… come on people, it's their wedding night and honeymoon and I'm such a sucker for Miyuki being hopelessly in love with Eijun and them being hot for each other no matter where they are. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'm warning ya'll now that this fic gets a little shameless… ha ha ha that was me just self-indulging because I can and I'd title it daiya no stupidity at some point but /throws confetti.
Oh and also, hints for Wakana/Kuramochi, Ryousuke/Kuramochi, but it's mere speculation (at least I think? Since I never made things too clear on Mochi's part), nothing's set in stone for either pairing here. Idk why I did that? It just wrote itself, really? I just felt like putting Kuramochi in this love triangle? He's a cutie and deserves love. That's my only excuse but it isn't a theme that's thoroughly discussed. I'm just teasing and I bring it up like once or twice lmao.
Of course, the way Sawamura Eijun proposes isn't the conventional way, where everything is planned ahead of time, things go according to said plan, both parties are properly dressed, and the atmosphere is simply perfect. No, Sawamura Eijun proposes the only way he knows how, casually mentioning the idea while eating breakfast when both of them are still attempting to ease their way into a more awake state and not be susceptible to surprises. So okay, maybe Kazuya's the one who is caught off guard and is left mumbling to himself in an incoherent mess later in the day since his lovely partner is always up at early freakin' o'clock and can function without coffee (and it's still a mystery to Kazuya 'til this day). He blames the lack of caffeine and the residue of sleep in his eyes for the shock that comes next.
"So," says Eijun as he takes a spoonful of the miso soup he learned to make and sips it happily as the familiar salty taste comforts his taste buds. "I'm thinking we should do a spring wedding, but Wakana was thinking that it might be too soon, that the possibility of everyone making it is small because of the upcoming games. So she suggested we have it closer to summer but I don't want it to be too hot, ugh and then you know how Satoru just starts melting and what if he ends up dying of dehydration or heat exhaustion during our ceremony? Then it'll be ruined and maybe an indoor thing with air conditioner would be better, just in case, you know, if we go with a summer wedding."
Kazuya looks at him from across their small table, one eyebrow raised in amusement but he can't believe he's hearing this first thing in the morning and he's pretty glad he didn't take a bite out of the salmon yet or else he might have choked. Since Eijun's crinkling his nose, like he's not ecstatic about the idea of a summer wedding but he's settling. "Eijun, you're joking right? You're talking like we're engaged."
Eijun looks at him while blinking a few times in disbelief, then at his own hand, then back to Kazuya's, then his hand one last time, and—whoops. "Oh." The realization dawns on him and he tries to keep his cool, he really does but he's so bad at keeping his shock in check that— "HOW COULD I FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT PART?!" Eijun slams his fists against the table, angry at himself, almost accidentally spilling Kazuya's cup of coffee (and Kazuya might murder him if that happens at some point while he lacks a good dose his favorite drink and hasn't bothered to take more satisfying sips. Everyone who knows him is aware that coffee happens to help him function on a day to day basis, thank you very much).
And sadly Kazuya does end up choking on his food this time, but it isn't the salmon, it's his rice and he coughs a, "what?" as he quickly recovers. He wonders if Eijun even realizes what he's getting himself into with what he's just accidentally blurted out.
Eijun goes into instant panic mode and he wants to lie even though dishonesty has never been his forte but he'll be damned if he doesn't even try because he wants to be smooth for once. "Oh, I, uh, just remembered I never took my uniform out of the dryer last night. Whoops!" He says quickly, like he's improvising and this is the part where Kazuya would laugh at him but his heart is racing far too quickly at the obvious answer he wants to hear—and wait, he's not actually sure if he wants to hear whatever he thinks this is.
"Eijun, you're a terrible liar," Kazuya deadpans and he silently thanks whatever higher power is out there that Eijun is an open book and he's oh so innocent and so easy to read in these situations where he's caught off guard, like a fish out of water.
He also wants to chuckle at the irony of it all because Kazuya previously thought he was the one who was caught off guard, he thought Eijun was being sly, but the little idiot ends up surprising himself in the process and his partner really is something else. At the back of his mind, Kazuya thinks he'll never get tired of waking up to these types of breakfasts in the morning even if Eijun has endless energy because it somehow just makes everything more worthwhile and why is he thinking of this cozy future when there are more pressing matters at the moment? He snaps out of it and waits for a response.
Eijun's cheeks flush pink. "Look, I, um, I'll be right back." Kazuya watches Eijun dash upstairs, almost knocking his own bowl of rice over in the process and Kazuya drops his chopsticks this time.
"What the hell?" He murmurs softly pushing down sparks of, of this all familiar feeling he's had countless times around Eijun and during super close matches against strong opponents, where he's in a bind but the thrill is there, except he soon realizes that this is—this is a scared type of excitement, one that's not related to baseball but completely having to do with Sawamura Eijun and their future. Kazuya decides that while he can, he'll just down his coffee because he feels he needs to be fully functional for this despite the protesting his stomach is doing.
A good minute later, Eijun dashes back into their kitchen with one very obvious hand tucked behind his back but Kazuya can't even find it in him to tease Eijun about this. He's completely at a loss for words and he can feel the coffee dangerously moving around in his stomach, he's not sure if that's a good sign. Eijun comes to a halt in front of Kazuya and takes a moment to take a breath. Kazuya just stares at him, heart pounding, very close to pinching himself because it all feels surreal yet terrifying and he's a little jittery.
He's seen where people who have it all end up. He has witnessed people who have promised forever and always, seen how they leave the next day, the next year, and so on only to put their love behind and move on letting their passion and promises fade. The empty oaths of 'til death do us part meaning nothing more than a temporary and convenient truth. He's experienced firsthand the gaping hole that loss leaves and god this terrifies him because Eijun is one of the few good things that has kept him grounded—that's made him believe in more good things to come. And he's aware that love is a two-way street, that it's a commitment not just a feeling, that if you simply rely on the feeling of that high, then you'll wake up one day and have a crisis, you'll lose a good thing.
Eijun makes him greedy, he makes him live and laugh, helps him appreciate the beauty in the simple things and Eijun's the epitome of a brighter tomorrow. He's the forever and always type of partner and Kazuya can honestly say that, can honestly believe it. It's been six wonderful years and he wonders how he's gotten so lucky because despite the doubt that occasionally creeps up on him he knows that Eijun wouldn't ever hurt him on purpose. Eijun's proven countless times that he wants Kazuya to be a part of every day and more. Kazuya's never thought so far ahead when it involved relationships. He never foresees himself living a happily ever after, but Eijun makes him a believer and makes him wish for that and much more. Kazuya's not even sure what that much more is, but Eijun makes the unknown okay.
He tells himself he's not going to slip up and cry because that's Eijun's job. He's not the overly emotional one, Eijun is and god those gorgeous golden eyes are looking at him and he sees Eijun's heart fully exposed for him to take and he wants—he really wants to reach over right now but he's frozen on the spot.
"So, um, Kazuya," Eijun says, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet and it's really adorable the way his determination and nerves are on display. "Miyuki Kazuya." He fell in love with that raw determination and so much more.
"Y-Yeah?" Kazuya says, voice barely there due to a rush of butterflies and nervousness and mental curses of holy shit.
"Ahh... I had a whole speech planned out and it was going to be amazing that you would have totally praised me, but, um, look. Just—I love you, okay? And I meant to do this yesterday, I really did, but then I got caught up with the match against Satoru and Harucchi and I was so hyped about it that I got distracted. Then I got dragged to the karaoke bar and ugh that's a horrible excuse but I need to do this—Let me do this Kazuya, because I really want to, okay?" Eijun's voice is earnest and tinged with the same nerves he's had since he came back downstairs and Kazuya wants to smile dumbly at how endearing this whole scene is.
Before Kazuya can reply though, Eijun sinks onto one knee and holds up a small box and Kazuya is pretty sure he forgets how to breathe because regardless of him imagining this moment, regardless of how predictable this outcome was going to be after Eijun's freak out, this still makes him breathless. It takes him by surprise because he's Sawamura Eijun and even if you know what's coming—it's still thrilling, and Kazuya doesn't mind falling deeper if it means he gets the whole package. A part of him is actually still surprised at how Eijun managed to keep all of this to himself up until this point but of course, Eijun would be a sap about it.
"Will you marry me, Miyuki Kazuya?" Eijun asks, and it's not what he planned, there's no romantic music playing and they're both still in their pajamas, but it's Kazuya, and that's really all that Eijun really needs. Besides, if he got to really plan it out, then he would have totally proposed on their team's baseball field with just the two of them. Kazuya would have probably enjoyed that more and Eijun can already imagine Youichi and Wakana calling them nerds and he wants to just relish in this moment, relish in his rapidly beating heart causing a ruckus and his stomach churning.
Once Kazuya has figured out how to breathe again, he stammers out a, "Y-Yeah, of course you idiot."
The message must have gotten across, because Eijun stands up and presses his lips against Kazuya's like he's all Eijun's ever wanted and Kazuya doesn't mind drowning on this feeling, doesn't mind drowning in everything Eijun has to give.
When Eijun finally pulls away, he gently takes Kazuya's hand and slides the simple silver ring with their anniversary date engraved in the inside onto his finger. Golden eyes meet glimmering amber, and Kazuya can't help but laugh as he leans his forehead against Eijun's, closing his eyes in the process, absorbing the moment as much as he can.
"Why are you laughing?" Eijun asks, his tone feigning hurt, even though he's laughing too. "And are you going to cry?" He decides to nudge Kazuya a little too, because he's teased him on many occasions for being overly emotional.
"Well," Kazuya drawls, opening his eyes to make direct contact, "first off, I just got engaged in such an unconventional fashion, and secondly, I can't believe that you forgot to propose—it's such a Sawamura Eijun thing to do though, you would get ahead of yourself like that and I just – I love you so much for being you."
Eijun then hears a soft, "And I'm not going to cry, that's your job dummy." He blushes again; still smiling that honest smile that melts all of Kazuya's insecurities away and Eijun wouldn't be Eijun if he didn't let a few tears slip out. He's never been afraid of showing his true feelings and Kazuya appreciates it so much. He is quick to gently wipe away Eijun's tears with his finger.
"So," Eijun says with a laugh, "does a spring wedding sound good?"
Kazuya snorts and responds with, "Sure. I know we'll be doing Furuya a huge favor for this and whoever can make it, will make it."
Eijun shoves Kazuya away playfully and he just feels his heart swell with affection because he gets to spend tomorrow and the next day and the next years to come with the person who stole his heart. And he doesn't mind one single bit. Kazuya is what he looks forward to the most.
###
A day later and Kazuya gets the exact same ring for Eijun with their anniversary date engraved in it as well—except he proposes in the empty baseball field at their team's official stadium and Eijun sulks, calling Kazuya a show off because of course he'd have to be a perfectionist about it. And of course Eijun cries again, but this time Kazuya can't help but kiss his happy tears away.
###
The wedding ceremony itself ends up being touching, with Wakana and Youichi as their best people, and Eijun tears up before he even walks down the damn aisle in his tuxedo because most of his close family and friends showed up. After Kazuya and Eijun exchange their short and sweet vows, everyone cheers for them and give their congratulations to them. Eijun's parents are crying and taking one too many snapshots of the newlyweds that Kazuya thinks he's going to go blind regardless of him wearing glasses.
And then, from the corner of his eye, Kazuya makes eye contact with a pair of all familiar amber eyes, much older but ones similar to his own and he says nothing as the man in question smiles at him. It's a smile Kazuya hasn't seen in so many years and a part of him actually wants to cry, but he hasn't cried since childhood and he doesn't want to cry for this person, at least he's not sure if they deserve it. So he acts distracted and pulls Eijun along, excusing himself, making sure he doesn't comment on this.
###
The wedding reception gets livelier by the minute as more people begin to show up. Everyone who previously said they'd make it, managed to get the day off ahead of time and Eijun does get his spring wedding and he feels so blessed.
Kazuya and Eijun, along with a few of their friends are all sitting together near the bar area sipping on their own uniquely mixed drinks as Eijun's parents are off slow dancing on the other side of the room. Eijun's grandfather is happily drinking sake a few tables down and attempting a conversation with Miyuki-san, while half of Eijun and Kazuya's teammates are having drink offs and talks nearby. Kazuya's just glad he doesn't have to clean up after all of them this time because it's his wedding.
While everything has been running smoothly Eijun still isn't sure how Kazuya will react in knowing he's been talking to his father, but ever since Miyuki-san started sobering up and proving to Kazuya that he is changing—that he'd given up alcohol for good, Eijun decides he wants to give him a chance. He wants the man to see his only son in this happy state. Ideally, he wants them both to get closure. Eijun knows how much Kazuya's father has hurt him in the past but Eijun also believes in second chances and he can see the honesty in Miyuki-san's eyes, he can see the guilt and regret, can also see that hope in wanting to better things even if maybe their relationship will never go back to how it used to be before he fell to alcoholism.
But the other thing is, that Eijun has also seen Kazuya looking lost on some days, staring blankly at his phone or at his computer screen with an empty email draft that he catches being addressed to Miyuki-san himself, so this isn't simply because Eijun wants it. He knows that deep down Kazuya sometimes wishes for a little more and Kazuya may be greedy when it comes to the things he's passionate about, like his love for baseball and his love for Eijun, but Kazuya would never openly be greedy with his father who he has had a rocky history with. So Eijun decides this is where he can give that extra little push.
Much to his surprise though, Kazuya doesn't mind when he sees his father conversing with Eijun's grandfather at the bar, sipping from a glass of water. Eijun catches the corners of Kazuya's lips curve up and he wants to continue seeing his husband happy like this because it's the first readable emotion Eijun's seen on him since noticing his father. It also surprises Eijun when Kazuya leans his head on Eijun's shoulder and softly whispers a, thank you for inviting him in his ear.
Eijun wonders when Kazuya and his father will both talk and get their worries out of the way, but he won't push it. This is their night and he wants to spend time with his friends as well. He knows Kazuya can deal with personal things on his own, that he just needs a little push every once in a while.
"So how exactly did he propose?" Wakana randomly brings up the question with a hint of amusement in her eyes because she's tried getting it out of Eijun, but he claims to have smoothly proposed and that everything went according to plan. Now, Wakana isn't an idiot. She knows that Eijun likes to glorify a lot of his stories at times to benefit himself, and that's usually the hint that there's something more going on that he doesn't want to admit to, so she's definitely going to enjoy embarrassing her childhood friend at his reception. She glances between an amused Kazuya and a frantic looking Eijun. "Amazing how that simple question has you sweating bullets, Eijun. I thought you said that everything went smoothly and that Kazuya teared up." She states with a raised brow, attempting to feign seriousness but her small smile betrays her.
"He said what now?" Kazuya and Youichi say this in unison as they both have their mouths slightly open and Wakana giggles because they look like fishes out of water.
"UM, I MAY HAVE EXAGGERATED QUITE A BIT," Eijun lets out an obnoxious laugh and Haruichi merely shakes his head in disappointment.
"You're such a bad liar…" Satoru says this while side eyeing him and Eijun gasps in return, snatching Satoru's drink and taking a satisfying long sip to spite him.
"Now I have to get a new drink… I don't want your germs," Satoru has a pout on his face and Kazuya and Youichi are both rolling their eyes at the childish display.
"What?! You have germs too! And I don't like that tone, mister! Besides, this is my wedding reception.
Kazuya snatches the glass away and hands it back to Satoru, "Our wedding reception and now, now, Eijun-kun, no need to get bratty on us." He smirks evilly with the correction while patting him on his shoulder and Eijun curses himself for falling in love with a demon. "He totally forgot to propose to me and just instantly started talking about when to have the actual wedding ceremony. This dummy then denied the whole thing and ran off to go grab my ring and properly propose. But he brought this up at like 8 in the morning when we were eating breakfast in our pajamas. I had to down my coffee to properly function. It was all very romantic, he cried, I didn't."
And Eijun's jaw drops as Wakana has a giggling fit while gasping for air, then, "That-oh my god-that sounds more like Eijun!"
"WAKANA! I FEEL BETRAYED! MY HUSBAND AND MY CHILDHOOD FRIEND HAVE PLOTTED AGAINST ME."
"You're just an idiot Sawamura," Youichi downs the rest of his drink. "I'm going to need more alcohol for the next embarrassing story, hyahaha!"
"MOCHI, WHY!"
"Because you're easy to embarrass!" Youichi roughly ruffles Eijun's hair and Eijun lets out a yelp.
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't go overboard on the physical harm. I'd like my husband in one piece by the end of the night, thank you very much!~" Kazuya pats Youichi on his back and Youichi slaps his hand away. He sees that stupidly cheeky grin on Kazuya's face and all he can say is, "Gross."
Kazuya's grin gets wider and, "Wow, you're more perverted than I thought Youichi-kun. Shame on you!~"
"I hope you choke to death!"
Kazuya waggles his eyebrows suggestively and he hears Youichi groan.
"Wait a minute guys, let's get back to the topic at hand," Wakana takes a small sip from her glass and she silently thanks Haruichi for the recommendation because plum wine is delicious.
"LET'S NOT," Eijun is quick to object and everyone gives him a knowing look.
"But Eijun-kun, Wakana-chan wants to know about things she's missed out on since you're always in Tokyo now and she's moved away from Nagano."
"Harucchi, why do I feel like you're plotting against me as well," Eijun says this with suspicion in his voice.
And that's when he notices Haruichi's smile, that signature deceiving smile his older brother always makes with his eyes closed and Eijun gets chills just remembering it and experiencing it through his best friend. "YOU LOOK TOO MUCH LIKE ONII-SAN!"
"So I've been told," Haruichi sighs and Furuya starts dozing off against his chair, which really, they're all surprised he hadn't fallen asleep sooner.
Little does everyone know that on the other side, Ryousuke is live blogging the reception. It isn't until Eijun's phone pings with update after update marked #sawamoron, #neversuave, #hopelesscause #forgottopropose #whataloser #tobeexpected #poorkazuchan with a photo attached of Eijun gaping, eyes wide, mouth open, from his account and Eijun is terrified of how quickly news travels because Ryousuke wasn't even currently at their table.
After a good while of roasting poor Eijun, they start talking about times each one of them had been annoyingly love struck. Kazuya spots his so called best friend look over at him and he's debating on whether to accept whatever is to come or not. And he knows it's coming because he had put Youichi on the spot earlier when he pointed out Youichi's long time crush on Wakana during high school. Wakana takes the news quite smoothly and admits to feeling flattered.
"Well, since idiot number 2 over here is denying ever being annoyingly love struck, I'll enlighten all of you," Youichi gestures over at Kazuya and all he can do is look as impassive as possible.
"Hm, this should be interesting. I'm used to Eijun being the sappy one," Wakana's chuckle gets a little louder but no one bothers to comment on it because they're all having a fun time and Youichi's already buzzing it with a bright shade of red on his face.
###
"What's the damn problem now?" Youichi sighs over his phone. He's a bit tired of hearing his idiot teammate vent about his stupid minor love problems. It is not his fault Miyuki Kazuya is an idiot and it isn't his fault that Sawamura Eijun can't take a hint. They're both idiots and he has to pay the price by dealing with them even when one of them is still a damn 3rd year in high school, the same high school he graduated from. He prays that he won't be dealing with this for the rest of his life because as okay as he is with knowing Miyuki Kazuya for a good amount of years, he is not okay with being involved in things he could care less about.
"You should feel honored I've called this often!~ " Kazuya singsongs and Youichi wants to punch him. "You were the one who said I never keep in contact with people from Seido after we graduated."
"I really am not honored and do me the favor of calling once a year if possible since I see you like every day during practice," Kuramochi huffs over the phone and he hears his idiotic teammate sigh like some love-struck maiden and ew. "Oh and calling one of your current teammates who happens to be living a floor below your dorm doesn't fucking count, genius."
He hears Kazuya snicker and he really wants to punch him. Maybe a knockout punch will lull him to sleep. "But Kuramochi!~ Last week I told him to sleep with me if he decided to visit on the weekend and he called me a pervert then smacked my face with my own catcher's mitt. Can you believe him? I take time out of my busy schedule—"
"Miyuki, it's off season…"
"Minor detail, Kuramochi—anyway, he keeps running away whenever I touch him now. He even refuses my proposals for future weekend catching sessions. Imagine that, me, kissing up to this brat. I'm so good to him and this is what he repays me with. You'd think I was the only one interested in taking this to the next level." Youichi rolls his eyes so far back because Miyuki Kazuya is hopeless. "What am I doing wrong here?"
Youichi... has questions. Many questions, none of which he actually wants to bother with right now since he wants to sleep and it's two in the damn morning. Then they have early morning practice in a few hours but of course that's when Kazuya decides to be a selfish bastard.
"You're one selfish bastard you know that?"
"Why thank you~"
Youichi can hear how Kazuya prides himself in all of this and Youichi has to hold back on a growl. He can't let the bastard get satisfaction out of this. "I'm not flattering you, you shit. But seriously Miyuki, I'm actually amused at how stupid you're being."
"What? What do you mean I'm being stupid? Sawamura's always liked honesty and I'm really trying here."
Youichi rubs at his temples and really, Miyuki Kazuya is slower than most when it comes to being a normal decent human being.
"Alright. The idiot confessed to you after graduation, right?"
"Mhm…"
"Right. Okay. Then you gave him your answer a night after because you're a sadistic bastard and just had to make him wait another night."
"Hey—well, I wasn't trying to be a sadist on purpose but now that you mention it—"
"Shut up, I'm giving you advice here and once I'm finished, don't call me in the early mornings ever again."
A gasp from Kazuya and, "I'm hurt! What if it was a real emergency?"
"Then I'd probably just have to hear it from someone else," Youichi deadpans and he's so done with this shitty catcher.
"Fair enough, just don't let it eat at your conscience."
"I think I'll live," Youichi snorts and continues with his so called advice because he really wants to sleep again. "So alright. You guys like each other."
"Kuramochi, that's such a spoiler! I never told you that part."
Youichi won't punch him, he'll just kill him, but he chooses to humor the little shit because dear god maybe then this conversation will move on faster. "You've been sulking about Sawamura all damn month. Have you heard yourself?! Miyuki! I swear to—" And no no, he's switching topics, he can't do that, so he immediately takes a deep breath and ignores the stupidly soft laughter on the other end. "Have you even established a type of relationship with him? Because if you haven't then you telling him he can sleep with you when he comes over seems a bit—uh, Sawamura probably took it the wrong way even though I'm sure your intentions weren't as damn innocent either."
Then he hears a short snicker, "Hm, I guess…" Kazuya muses for a few seconds, but it seems Youichi's not done. "And, he seems to have made it clear that he wants something serious from you Miyuki. So don't go teasing him into oblivion and give him blue balls for life. He might get the wrong idea and think you're some sort of playboy even though you're just terrible at everything else that isn't baseball."
"Ha! Blue balls for life… and hey hey, I'm quite a looker. You can't deny that."
"Miyuki," Youichi growls his name out because while he supports his teammate, he also really cares for Eijun, though that idiot doesn't need to know what won't hurt him.
"Alright alright. I have to be more clear and tell that idiot to not take everything I say so literally."
"Everything you say has double meaning, it gets exhausting you shitty glasses. Learn to be simple every now and then."
"Your terms of endearment are touching, really."
"Just don't string him along. If you're being serious then—"
"I am. I got it," and Youichi really does believe Kazuya this time because the tone he's using sounds unusually serious.
"Hyahaha! You're a love-struck idiot."
"So is he!~"
###
"And then this guy," Youichi points a finger at Kazuya, grinning playfully, "he proceeds to going to most of Sawamura's games at Seido, but every time he tried riling up Sawamura he'd end up riling up Okumura instead. It sort of reminds me of Sawamura's hero worship for Chris. Ah man, it took him a while to finally ask Sawamura out without Okumura giving him the stink eye. Shoulda just seen the guy pining and sulking. Had a stupid pout on him every time I told him to shut up. It sucked every day after practice because Sawamura's all he'd talk about."
Kazuya has been completely silent because, okay he doesn't have to deny any of this, besides, his rosy cheeks don't help his case but he can definitely blame that on the alcohol. However, he doesn't necessarily have to admit to anything either. He knows that when it comes to Eijun he gets a bit hopeless, just a bit. He's also aware that Youichi is buzzed and any more of those beers, he'll probably enter drunk mode which gets to be a handful.
"Ugh, please stop talking Youichi. This isn't even embarrassing, it's just—"
"Sappy? Disgusting? Pathetic? A disgrace to the usual composure our number one catcher carries?" Youichi says this so nonchalantly that Kazuya would have maybe taken him seriously if he didn't know his friend very well. He knows Youichi will roast him whenever he gets the chance.
So Kazuya decides to do what he does best and not let it get to him. He whistles in amazement, ready to rile him up with, "Wow~ Such praise!~"
But Youichi doesn't get to yell back at him because Eijun is looking at them with such amusement.
"Oh my god, Mochi, that was beautiful! I'm glad I'm not the only who sulked during that time because geez, Kazuya was terrible at wooing me, especially after he kept talking on about relationships getting in the way of baseball," Eijun says this playfully and he giggles into his drink which is a bit intriguing to Kazuya, how Eijun gets a little softer with alcohol. How his cheeks will stay a nice light shade of red, his eyes will have a little twinkle in them like they're as happy as the rest of him is and his face will glow a little more than usual. Eijun's voice, despite being usually loud will go very soft depending on the subject and it's quite apparent when he laughs.
"So his excuse of their relationship getting in the way of baseball, what happened with that?" Wakana is genuinely curious because she remembers when Eijun asked her during his time in Seido through an email if relationships ever got in the way of careers and she knew it had to do with Kazuya but of course, she wasn't going to push it at the time. It wasn't like they talked all that often. Eijun would text her when he'd miraculously get a day off or if his team would get back from a quick game.
"This guy just decides that he can suddenly multi-task and that dealing with Sawamura and baseball are the same thing." Kuramochi points an accusing finger at him and Kazuya shrugs. There really is no use in denying that.
"So he compared him to baseball?" Wakana blinks, processing this newfound information.
Haruichi lets out a laugh he had been holding in at the look of minor disbelief in her features. "Wakana-chan, we're baseball obsessed people. I'm sure you've known this for a long time."
"This is true, shame on me," she shrugs it off.
"Okay, seriously. Enough talking about this, even someone as great as I am can't be perfect. Let's be realistic guys. I'm sure you've all at some point had your out of character moments. Like, I know this guy," and he points at Youichi, "does twitter drunk ramblings."
And Youichi lets out a small squeal, but he swears it isn't a squeal, he's just taken by surprise and suddenly Eijun and Wakana are both interested.
"Oh, Kazu-chan, I usually post the embarrassing things on my twitter for Youichi now. He stopped posting on his after a while."
"Oh?"
And everyone turns to see Ryousuke with Chris.
Eijun, of course, instantly perks up and yells, "CHRIS-SENPAI! THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT!" He beams and his calm, soft features have instantly been replaced with his usual loud and restless energy in Chris's presence, bowing politely, which in their Seido days really made Kazuya sulk—but that's definitely something he never shares and never will. Chris will always be an important person to the both of them and he's learned to accept it.
"Sawamura, you don't have to do that. I'm just here to see you both for your big day. I'm sorry I didn't make it to ceremony."
Eijun waves him off on apologizing for not making it to the ceremony and shakes his hand, sincerely thanking him.
"Thanks for making it Chris, have a seat? Oh and by the way Ryo-san, why not show us these twitter posts?"
Chris smiles at Kazuya and grabs a chair to sit nearby.
"Which ones? I've tagged them under different categories. If you mean Youichi's, it's just #idiotweasel."
"Wait, Ryo-san, you actually tagged me as a damn weasel?" Youichi glares over at Eijun and Eijun gulps.
"IT ISN'T REALLY MY FAULT. I WASN'T SURE WHETHER YOU RESEMBELED A CHEETAH OR A WEASEL MORE. BOTH ARE FAST!"
"I can't believe you're still using those dumb high school nicknames. Why are you a walking embarrassment Sawamura…" Youichi lowers his head in defeat and regardless of them growing up quite a bit, he still gets these nostalgic sort of feelings when he's with everyone like this.
"I'M SORRY?"
Haruichi and Wakana are just chuckling at their antics.
"Oh, where's this picture from?" Kazuya says with his usual smirk and it's suddenly gotten everyone's attention as they huddle around Ryousuke's phone.
"Aniki!" Haruichi shrieks because dear god, no.
"Oh, ops. That one was from when Haruichi had to do me a favor and cross-dress to get a client to buy from me."
"Haruichi, you look amazing in a dress," Wakana's glittery eyes say it all.
Eijun and Furuya (who has just woken up to the ruckus) are both clapping and nodding on the side. Haruichi blushes hard and he actually thought he had gotten away from this image, people always called him pretty or cute and had this terrible fascination with wanting to see him cross-dress because really, he's 23 years old and he is handsome thank you very much.
"Wait, hold up. Where is this from? And why wasn't I invited?" Kazuya gives Ryousuke a frown, looking over at a new picture and video.
"Hey, Sawamura… I hate to admit it but you have a nice ass there," Youichi says this with strained features like he's debating on whether he wants to take back the compliment or not and yep he's drunk.
"He's always had a nice ass, Youichi-kun!" Kazuya beams childishly.
"Oh my god you're insufferable, Kazuya!"
"Who knew, right? His idiotic personality sort of takes away from his other redeeming features," Ryousuke says this in his usual blunt manner. "And this was the night before Sawamura's graduation, Kazu-chan. I only came by to see Haruichi but Testuya and Jun tagged along wanting to celebrate with the 2nd and 3rd years. Sawamura somehow mistakes some of the coolers we brought over for soda. We just happened to be playing truth or dare on that day."
And everyone sort of wonders to themselves if Ryousuke purposefully saved the evidence of that night years ago specifically for Eijun's wedding day in the distant future, to embarrass him, because it's what Ryousuke does best. No one ever really knows with the older Kominato though.
"That actually sounds plausible. Ah, I'm jealous and I feel so left out," Kazuya whines at Eijun, like he's betrayed him, but Eijun so wants to argue that they hadn't exactly been official back then until he graduated and it wasn't like he had done anything inappropriate with anyone right? Besides, it was years ago and he's a little shocked at how Kazuya conveniently stumbled upon it. He decides to not look over at Ryousuke's phone screen, even if the comment on his ass should bother him. They were high schoolers who got a little curious about alcohol but okay so maybe Eijun went a little overboard.
"Wait, Eijun-kun, do you even remember what happened?" Haruichi questions his friend because Eijun's looking like a lost puppy.
"NO!" He shakes his head frantically, "I DON'T REMEMBER AND WHY WAS EVERYONE SUDDENLY SO QUIET ABOUT IT THE DAY AFTER? WHEN I EMBARRASS MYSELF AREN'T YOU GUYS THE FIRST ONES TO REMIND ME?"
"It isn't always about you," Satoru mutters this but Eijun's caught what he's said.
"OH. EXCUSE ME THEN. I'LL REMEMBER TO NOT LET YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR BLACK OUTS!"
Satoru goes on to ignore him and Eijun grumbles something about Satoru always being such a child giving the cold shoulder, no matter how old he gets.
"Oh my. Eijun… you were pretty wild. I don't think I've ever seen you strip tease before," Wakana's blushing brightly and Chris is standing now, not sitting, in silence. He would want to say something, but he feels it'd be so inappropriate, but he just—he has to know.
"Sawamura. How on earth can you bend like that?" Well, there he goes. He blurts his thoughts out and instantly regrets.
Chris has always been aware of how flexible Eijun actually is, but stretching and actually using that flexibility evilly, it makes him swallow a thick lump in his throat. Eijun is stretched out like a bow and he's not stripping anymore, thankfully, but his underwear that fits snugly on his lower half isn't helping. Chris wonders if Ryousuke's intentions were to satisfy his own curiosity that night.
"Haha! This is great stuff." Kazuya's grabbing onto his sides, trying not to fall over because the fact that Chris even has a reaction like this, it oddly gives Kazuya a sense of satisfaction. "I'm sure you have your own thoughts but I can assure you that his flexibility is unmatched, Chris!~"
"Kazuya, I know Kuramochi was being merciful earlier, but I'm not as merciful. I have saved texts from you that I'm sure you wouldn't want people knowing about."
Kazuya instantly quiets down. "Ahem, right. Got it. Sorry~"
"WHAT TEXTS? CHRIS-SENPAI!"
Chris does everything in his power to not make eye contact with either groom. He feels a little embarrassed after witnessing such a different side to Eijun and this was years ago, not the exact same person before him right now that's married. Eijun tries not to let the red on his face become obvious as his ex-mentor is clearly blushing but Chris just groans. How did this reception turn so vulgar?
"Kill me now," Satoru moans, pale faced after witnessing the video because he remembers that night firsthand and he feels better pretending it never happened. Haruichi pats him comfortingly on the back.
"I...really don't need to be hearing any of this," Eijun says this when realization strikes him. "Our parents are here. They don't need to hear this and gramps is a few tables down."
"Are we going to be rating butts? Because you're all baseball players so it isn't really fair," Wakana is clearly going from buzzed to borderline drunk and Eijun kind of wants to take that 3rd glass of half-finished wine away from her now. He fears for his sanity.
"I made a list if you'd like to know…" A soft voice speaks up, which makes everyone turn around to see Yoshikawa Haruno.
"Haruno! You made it!" Eijun beams at his friend and wow, this wedding has turned into a Seido reunion, Kazuya thinks. He never did bother with looking at the invitation list, he let Eijun deal with that part.
"Hi Sawamura," she waves warmly at him.
Wakana's eyes gleam and she's suddenly ushering Haruno over to the table because surely having another female around won't be so bad. "So what's this about a list?" She asks and Eijun thinks Haruno's also consumed some alcohol because she has the same rosy cheeks and glazed look Wakana is starting to have.
Oh no.
"Oh. I've made a list of everyone who was on the first string team during my Seido years and rated their attractiveness as fairly as possible. But I may have cheated because I added Chris-senpai to that list…" Haruno explains with a sly smile and Kazuya isn't sure if he's ever seen Eijun look so flabbergasted before but the look on Chris's face is priceless too, he looks at her in horror with reddish cheeks. Kazuya's actually a bit surprised too because Yoshikawa Haruno was always such a gentle, shy, and soft spoken girl, but he hears a small voice in his head say, "The quiet ones are the worst."
The guys are all quiet at the table as they observe the list when Youichi is the first to yell out, "WHAT? Why the fuck is shitty glasses ranked higher than me?!"
"Now now Youichi, to be fair, Kazu-chan has that natural pretty boy look without even trying. His fashion sense is a disaster a lot of the times but people still like him."
Kazuya would totally argue this but ok so maybe yellow with orange is a weird combination for workout clothes but who cares? He can dress however he pleases and comfort comes first. He tries when he wants to alright?
"He dresses like a damn grandpa sometimes too," Youichi comments again, throwing another jab for good measures and Kazuya's eyebrow twitches in annoyance.
"At least I still look good. People are probably still afraid of your delinquent look, Youichi-kun."
"At least I don't have a shitty personality!" Youichi growls back.
"Oh! But Mochi got an 8/10 for legs and butt!" And Eijun shouldn't look so impressed. Kazuya silently wonders whose side his husband is on.
"This list is quite detailed. You did a fine job," Ryousuke compliments and Haruno blushes while stuttering a thank you.
"CHRIS-SENPAI AND KAZUYA ARE TIED?!" Eijun screams it out and Youichi kicks him while Ryousuke neck chops him. "OW! BUT CHRIS-SENPAI IS CLEARLY SUPERIOR IN—"
Kazuya gives him a wicked glare and grin and Eijun's mouth immediately shuts with a squeak. Eijun hasn't felt this terrified of Kazuya in a long time. "Go on," he threatens, "finish that sentence very carefully dear husband of mine."
"Why am I still here? I want a crab omelette," Satoru says this to himself as he side eyes Eijun nervously cackling away.
"Satoru-kun, it's harmless fun… a bit embarrassing but fun," Haruichi eyes the list and notices him being ranked a number below his brother, which he really doesn't mind because he knows Ryousuke's always had more of that intimidating and cool sort of appearance to him while building a reputation for himself. In comparison, Haruichi was simply just seen, as the cute or pretty boy in high school, but the fact he's even considered attractive makes him feel flattered.
Kazuya goes on to snicker and gloat on how he's rated higher than Youichi. Eijun just sits there a bit shocked and a bit offended when he's rated lower than Satoru because he totally resents that. He demands a revote because he knows he can be considered hot. His so called ex-teammates were just complimenting his butt and other features! That must count for something right?
"SATORU IS DEFINITELY NOT MORE HANDSOME THAN I, SAWAMURA EIJUN! I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS!"
Satoru simply smiles at him and says, "I take it back. I'm okay with this."
"SATORU! YOU JERK!"
"Oh? Furuya being a number higher than you in looks? I guess I see it. He has that whole mysterious and cool look to him. He's also taller, people like that," Kazuya adds on.
"WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON OH SWEET HUSBAND OF MINE?"
Kazuya gives him a spiteful smile, "I'd like to say the same to you, Eijun."
"I-IT WAS JUST HABIT OKAY?"
"Eijun-kun, calm down," Haruichi tries to calm his friend but Eijun is just a bundle of riled up energy at this point.
"Haruno-san, this is amazing," Wakana gasps out. "I also like the fairness in the number ones."
"WAIT, WAKANA. YOU THINK KAZUYA DESERVES THE NUMBER ONE SPOT?"
"Eijun. The guy is handsome no matter what. You landed yourself an Adonis of a husband."
And Eijun spits out his water but so does Youichi.
"TRAITOR!"
"Oh my god… I'm going to ignore that…" and Youichi is rubbing at his temples.
"Eijun," Wakana deadpans, "I'm entitled to my own opinion."
"Sawamura, if it makes you feel better, I find you quite handsome." Haruno gives Eijun a sunny smile and thankfully that calms Eijun down until Sawamura Eitoku calls them over.
"As much fun as this all looks—Eijun, your mother wants you to go take pictures with her. You too Kazuya, but you can join us after. It's time to talk to your father. He's been sitting with me over there this whole time," and Kazuya follows his finger to find his father sitting there patiently, an unreadable expression on his face.
Eijun is instantly at Kazuya's side and squeezes his shoulder giving him a small encouraging smile. Kazuya can do this, he can and he's been wanting to for years.
"Alright, let's go."
###
As the night goes on the crowds get lost in the music. The warm glow cast by the chandeliers gives the room a magical sort of feel and the silver band on his left ring finger promising eternal love makes his heart flutter. All of these things also leave Sawamura Eijun with a grin that refuses to leave his face.
But when Kazuya, his husband, finds his way to Eijun through the congratulatory guests and links their hands together with a genuinely soft smile; that is when Eijun knows the happiness he feels now will never fade, just like his feelings and he's always known that without needing clarification but it's still a really nice reminder.
Kazuya turns to his father, who Eijun has been talking to after Kazuya finished his much needed conversation earlier with the man and he excuses himself and his husband under the poorly constructed pretense of wanting important quality time as newlyweds. Of course, Miyuki-san is understanding about it and Kazuya promises him he'll keep in touch, that they can start over with small steps. He's glad his father's making progress to better himself; he's glad that he's reached this chapter in his life where things are looking brighter and he thanks Eijun for sharing some of his light with him.
When they walk away, however, Eijun notices Kazuya's amber eyes light up with mischief, and he can't stop a shudder. The newly-weds somehow make it all the way to the toilets of the reception hall with their composures intact, until they burst through the doors and are hungrily kissing within seconds.
Fortunately, the toilets are empty, because Kazuya presses Eijun against the wall in one of the stalls. Their kisses are searing and clumsy and yet somehow in sync, just like they usually are and it's one of those intoxicating instances where Kazuya feels like they are made for one another, whether it's as lovers or as battery partners, but he's lucky to have both. Their lips meet with the familiarity of two people who have kissed thousands of times, and have yet to kiss a thousand times more, but are eager to get there.
Eijun moves to suck a line down Kazuya's neck, prompting a breathy moan with his mouth. "We probably shouldn't be doing this here," Eijun gasps between breaths. It's hard to focus enough to talk properly while Kazuya is rubbing a leg between his thighs and desperately unbuttoning his shirt to feel the much needed skin there while the tie and tux jacket have already been discarded and Eijun secretly finds it impressive at how good Kazuya is at undressing him.
"It's our wedding night, Eijun, it's nobody's business but ours if I've wanted to rip this tux off of you, and that video of you strip teasing was something else too. It's a shame I wasn't there. Ryo-san is evil," Kazuya says this with a sultry stare that really does make Eijun shudder in anticipation. He's opened up Eijun's shirt enough to start nipping down his chest, but forgets about taking it off completely when he reaches Eijun's boxers and gets down onto his knees. All Eijun can do is stutter out a quiet f-fuck when Kazuya pulls out his already achingly hard cock. Eijun feels his cheeks redden at the whole situation but all he is looking forward to is more pleasure.
"Trust me, I'd love to," Kazuya smirks as he looks up through his fluttering eyelashes to savor the blissed out expression on his husband's face. Husband, the word makes Kazuya want to smile dumbly forever but he has to keep focusing on his delicious looking partner. Eijun's cloudy golden eyes are lidded and he's biting his lower lip harshly to avoid moaning too loudly and his rosy cheeks make it almost endearing, but more arousing, really. God, he's beautiful, Kazuya thinks to himself.
He takes the tip of Eijun's cock in his mouth and sucks lightly, mostly just to hear Eijun's heavenly moans. When Kazuya flicks his tongue across the head to lick up the pre-cum gathering there, Eijun can't stop bucking his hips. His cock slides further into Kazuya's mouth, eagerly, enthusiastically, and Eijun is so good to Kazuya, so good that Kazuya works with it, and takes as much as he can into his mouth. The sound of Eijun's enjoyment only makes his erection grow, so he brings a hand to palm his own still-clothed cock. His mouth works slowly up and down Eijun's length, applying a little pressure with his tongue the way he knows makes Eijun squirm in pleasure.
"So beautiful," he voices this and the vibrations of Kazuya's voice along with the praise make Eijun whine.
Kazuya's hand pumps what he can't fit in his mouth and Eijun's lips let loose a constant stream of groans along with quiet rasps of Kazuya's name, which only encourage him more because Eijun's beautiful lips calling his name out like this—it is always something to appreciate and he loves all those simple details. His other hand is occupied jerking himself off.
Before long the wall is shaking with Eijun's tight grip on the top, his other hand threading through Kazuya's hair in desperation, in need and he needs Kazuya so much that it aches. Kazuya notices Eijun's legs beginning to tremor slightly, his dick twitching and-
"Ka-Kazuya—I'm going to—"
Kazuya mentally braces himself as he brings Eijun to climax. Eijun bites his lip hard enough to stop the shuddering moans from escaping as he orgasms because he knows how loud he can be and as much as he'd love to be loud, in some small corner of his mind he's aware enough to realize that he's in a bathroom stall getting sucked off by his beloved husband. Kazuya not long after, makes a mess of his pristine wedding tux. Before Eijun can even regain his breath, Kazuya stands to pull Eijun close again in a slower more affectionate kiss that tastes like his own cum, with small traces of peach from the alcoholic beverage, and a hint of Kazuya's own unique flavor.
Eijun moves away slightly, to wipe down Kazuya with toilet paper before they redress themselves. He still has a dazed, happy expression on his face—one that Kazuya has seen countless times, especially when he openly praises him, but nonetheless Kazuya adores Eijun's dopey smiles. He gently cups Eijun's cheek to make their eyes meet and Eijun just smiles fondly this time and kisses him again.
"I thought we were going to wait until we were at the hotel Mochi booked for us," Eijun whispers into Kazuya's mouth.
"How could I wait when you look this incredible," Kazuya tries to smirk into Eijun's lips, but it just ends up as an affectionate smile.
"I could tell when we were at the table with everyone. You looked like you wanted to eat me!" Eijun laughs as he says this because it wasn't like he didn't feel the exact same way about Kazuya and Kazuya feels his heartbeat lapse for a moment at Eijun's soft and shy laughter. Every second, he feels himself getting sappier just relishing in everything simple that his husband does.
A faint voice through the microphone breaks through their happy stupor, announcing that it's time for the husbands' first dance as a married couple and Kazuya knows that's his so called best man's voice. He mentally thanks Youichi for at least calling them out after they were done.
He presses a quick kiss to Eijun's lips before finding his left hand and lifting it to press another lingering kiss to the silver ring on his finger. The one identical to his own, that was exchanged earlier that day with simple but probably overly cheesy sentiments and oaths of love, but the difference for Kazuya this time is, he's the one experiencing this and it isn't a dream. He's the one making his own story, the one who's taking his chances at happiness and isn't making his marriage an empty promise. Everything he feels is unconditional and seriously, he blames Eijun for making him this sappy.
"Come on, Sawamura Kazuya," Eijun smiles.
"Let's go," Kazuya says, matching the wide smile because he never really stopped to think about how nice that actually sounds on him and he remembers everyone's jaw dropping at the fact he took Eijun's last name instead. Youichi swore that Eijun would be the one taking Kazuya's last name and he is quite surprised at himself for wanting Eijun's last name instead of the reverse, but he wants all of Eijun and that includes the last name because he already feels like an actual Sawamura. It was just a natural occurrence to him, really. His in laws are just as warm and kind hearted as his husband is and he sees exactly where Eijun gets all his warmth and liveliness from. He adores this family and is proud to call them his own now too.
With that, they walk out, back into the dimly lit and simply decorated reception hall as officially half-consummated husbands, but no one needs to know that because Eijun definitely has plans to return the favor when they get back to the hotel. They receive a few suspicious looks from those closest to the stalls and Kazuya can't help but make a comment on how some of these people don't even look familiar, out loud and that makes eyes turn away from them. It is moments like these that Eijun is thankful for Kazuya's smart mouth. He is definitely not saying that aloud or else he'd face the wrath of Kazuya's sexual innuendos.
They make their way onto the dance floor to once again wrap in each other's embrace as Eijun leads Kazuya this time around. They both then faintly hear Youichi yelling a 'yuck, always being grossly in love' and a voice sounding suspiciously like Eijun's mother saying, "Eijun, dear, fix your hair a bit. It's wilder than normal," along with Kazuya's father adding, "Kazuya, your buttons are uneven." To the final words of Wakana gasping out, "Oh you guys have sex hair on you." Kazuya and Eijun feign innocence and continue dancing, sheepishly smiling. Everyone is probably still buzzed and for once, neither of them care.
###
Their honeymoon plans are full of debates on whether they want something simple, something completely spontaneous and new, or something planned that they will both enjoy. Kazuya usually argues that he will enjoy whatever Eijun chooses to do, but Eijun refuses to be the only one with a say so Kazuya humors him and suggests that they don't have to go out of the country especially since they'd only have a few days to themselves at most before going back to practices and games. So they think long and hard for ideas.
Youichi casually suggests a few cities where they have never really been to and he knows Eijun and Kazuya are the type to not really take the bullet train to get around all the other cities, since depending on how far - it takes hours, unless it's absolutely necessary for them. He even teases Eijun, tells him he's stuck in his country bumpkin ways but really, Eijun's been out of the country and other cities before, mostly due to away games, but whatever. The point is he has been outside of the country before.
So, Eijun and Kazuya do research and eventually Kazuya suggests going to Osaka due to the Universal Studios and Osaka Castle being there. He knows Eijun's big on pictures and historical landmarks, so it'd be a nice way to spend a few days alone.
"Ah! You're amazing, Kazuya! And we can even go to the Dontonburi District. They have so many stores!"
"You're going to wipe your wallet clean on this trip aren't you?"
"Shut up!"
Kazuya snickers at his husband, but he finds himself quite excited too.
Eijun then looks over at him with a pensive look.
"What's up? You look like you have more to say," Kazuya gives Eijun a chance to voice his thoughts, though he can guess what Eijun will say.
"What made you come up with Osaka as a choice?"
Bingo and Kazuya feels like he deserves praise after this.
"Because I may or may not have heard a conversation you had with Wakana over the phone the month before you proposed about the cherry blossom festival in Osaka. You even went on a full on ramble about when the best time to go is during their full bloom. I figured why not go. You got your spring wedding, why not have a spring honeymoon too?"
Eijun's eyes gain an extra softness to them, he's appreciating Kazuya's thoughtfulness, at least that's what Kazuya hopes for but then Eijun's grinning and crawling on top of him, nuzzling his neck and praising him on what a good listener he is. Eijun's eyes light up in that cute sparkly way Kazuya finds amusing and that's all he can ever ask for.
###
The underground station is packed with people bustling about, going to work, going home, and wherever else they're needed. The sound of people talking on their phones, the announcements over the PA system and the whirring of distant trains are almost too much of a sensory overload, and Eijun finds himself subconsciously leaning closer to his husband's slightly taller frame when Kazuya wordlessly entwines their fingers together in a firm grasp.
Eijun glances up at him with startled eyes, and sometimes it breaks Kazuya's heart to see Eijun actually hold back on what he wants because the world can be cruel and unjust with their judging gazes, but he could care less right now and he can see the unspoken question of, what if people see?, in Eijun's doubting golden eyes.
"It's fine," Kazuya reassures him with a smile, somehow softer than his usual one – more gentle. And they stand like this silently in the middle of a crowd of people, waiting for their train, waiting for that 6 hour long trip to begin.
###
The first day, they decide to nap when they get to the inn around the later evening because that train ride gets Kazuya a bit sluggish and all he wants is to lie around and relax, just for a day. Kazuya promises Eijun they'll go out and enjoy their time watching the cherry blossoms tomorrow, but Eijun insists on going at night to the castle so they should spend their morning at the park and afternoon walking around wherever else. Eijun's been a bundle of restless energy since they've arrived though and Kazuya's thankful that Eijun agrees to this because he knows how much Kazuya deserves to relax.
They eventually put their things away and have been in bed for a while, talking with one another, waiting for sleep to take either one of them. Eijun rolls himself onto his back looking up at Kazuya through half-lidded, bleary eyes and Kazuya thinks Eijun will end up knocking out before him, maybe. "Are you glad we're here?" Eijun asks, and he says it like it's no big deal, but Kazuya knows him well enough to notice when he's uncertain, when something means more to him than he says it does despite Sawamura Eijun wearing his heart on his sleeve most of the time. Kazuya presses himself close and closes his lips over Eijun's. They kiss, slow and sweet, until Kazuya has to pull away for air.
"Of course I am, dummy," he says, and he smiles softly at him. Eijun gives him a playful glare and huffs out a small laugh. They lie there together, separated by only a few inches, and Kazuya almost drifts off into sleep first until he feels the mattress dip beneath him and a warm familiar weight settles against his chest.
Kazuya opens his eyes, waiting for his vision to adjust without his glasses and he manages to see that Eijun has curled up against him, head tucked beneath his chin.
"Is this okay?" Eijun asks. Kazuya can feel his lips move against his collarbone as he talks. It sort of tickles, but he welcomes the feeling of Eijun's warm skin on his.
"Better than okay," Kazuya murmurs, and he slips one arm around Eijun's waist, pulls him in impossibly closer, brushes his lips against the top of his head. "You know I'm, what would Youichi say—ah right, disgustingly happy with you, right?"
There's a long pause, and then Eijun snorts in between his steady breaths. "Yeah, I know," he says finally, soft against Kazuya's skin. "What? No, 'I'm disgustingly happy with you too, Kazuya!'?"
This time, Kazuya can feel Eijun's lips curving into a smug smile and he says, "Don't be an idiot, Kazuya, of course I'm disgustingly in love with you. We're married." And Kazuya feels his heart skip a beat at that, though he's not sure if that was his heart or Eijun's but he swears it's his.
Kazuya grins while stroking Eijun's side, thumb sliding along his hipbone in long, soothing motions. They stay like this, intertwined, as their breathing evens out and their heartbeats slow, until sleep finally enfolds them.
###
They walk through the Kema Sakuranomiya Park first thing in the morning and it's a calming sight. Eijun's happily bouncing around tugging at Kazuya's sleeve as he watches a couple taking photos near the lake in awe.
"Kazuya! They have traditional kimonos on! And her matching parasol! It's so nice!"
"You don't really see that around anymore," Kazuya muses.
"Yeah but they're beautiful aren't they?!"
"Yeah," but Kazuya's looking at Eijun and it isn't until Eijun turns to meet his stare with a head tilt that he realizes he's being sappy again, dammit.
He sort of wants to keep staring at Eijun in complete fascination because anyone else would think he's never experienced cherry blossoms, never been hours away from home, but Kazuya knows Eijun has, has experienced similar situations because Osaka isn't the only place that has beautiful scenery and delicious food and historical landmarks. He's come to realize that Eijun treats these types of things as new experiences, that he openly welcomes nature or structures and appreciates them whole heartedly too.
The cherry blossoms keep gently falling as Eijun plucks a few out of Kazuya's hair while giggling at him and he'll never get tired of that laugh. It's a comforting tune.
"If I were a petal, I'd want to stay in your hair too," Eijun's eyes are laughing at him, full of life and playfulness.
"So sappy," Kazuya lightly pokes his side and Eijun squeals leaping away from Kazuya until he pulls him back in by his arm. He knows he's being a hypocrite because he's been pining this whole time at how much attention the scenery is getting compared to him, but Kazuya knows they have their hotel room cuddling along with their moments of intimacy to always look forward to.
"SAWAMURA KAZUYA! You know I'm ticklish!" And Eijun's half glaring, half pouting at him as they stand on the side near some benches.
Kazuya can't restrain the smile and laughter that leave his mouth. He doesn't realize how amusing it is to hear his husband yell out his new name in that all familiar tone that's become endearing after all these years. It's a little weird, he has to admit he got much too used to Miyuki being in front of his name, but he'll get used to this too. "I was waiting for you to actually yell out my new name, just had to push the right buttons~ And sorry. sorry I just like watching you squirm, it's cute."
He hears Eijun grumble something like, 'typical Kazuya." And ,"I kind of like the way it sounds now. It took me a while to say your new name out loud and not mix it up with your old one. It almost feels like I'm scolding myself too."
"You practiced?" Kazuya's eyes are sparkling with endearment and it almost makes Eijun want to melt but no he won't, he's a strong person, at least it's what he tells himself.
"I WAS NOT GOING TO BE THE BUTT OF YOUR JOKES WITH THAT."
Kazuya laughs again and Eijun's the one poking his sides this time.
"Alright, alright. Let's go get some dango or onigiri. I see some food stands up ahead. We can continue this practice of my new name afterwards."
And Eijun squawks in indignation.
Kazuya ends up being pulled along by Eijun instead and he may be captivated by the beauty of the cherry blossoms, clear blue waters and gorgeous architecture, but Kazuya's still his favorite sight to appreciate and he's staring at him with a fond smile. Kazuya immediately notices his husband staring at him and shoves a dango in his mouth, attempting to hide his small blush.
###
They walk around the cherry blossom tunnel before going to the castle, which will be their last stop of the day and Eijun's lost count of how many photos he's taken because he feels like he's in a very soft pink flowered wonderland. There are dozens of trails of petals on the floor, more keep falling off the nearby trees and the gentle breeze that plays with his bangs—it's all so relaxing and breath taking, all he can do is gasp out a wow. Kazuya on the other hand finds this quite beautiful, but he also feels a sense of dread—and he usually isn't one to empathize, but he sure as hell wouldn't want to clean all of this up, regardless of there being machines for doing the job. He doesn't bother voicing his opinion on the matter though, it's a lovely sight.
Youichi and Wakana have been texting both Eijun and Kazuya to check up on them and Kazuya can't help himself, he has to tease Youichi because he knows Youichi's just going out of his way to hear if everything's going well.
Kazuya: Miss me that much, You-chan?
Youichi: I'm going to murder you. I regret even sending these stupid messages.
Ever since Kazuya overheard Ryousuke calling Youichi that nickname in private, he couldn't help himself. He's aware he'd be using it someday. Youichi really does hate it, but he doesn't hate it when Ryousuke uses it, even if Ryousuke uses it as a form to tease him.
Kazuya: No need to sulk. You'll see me in two days. We'll be playing together again, fear not.
Youichi: I really do not care. I hope you fall off that boat you're planning on riding at some point.
Kazuya: Creeper.
Youichi: SAWAMURA TOLD ME AND HE'S BEEN POSTING ON TWITTER.
Youichi: wait. forget all of my previous messages. I just really hate your guts and I hope you choke on your food.
Kazuya: Love you too~
Youichi: nope not doing this.
Eijun sees Kazuya snickering while animatedly texting.
"You seem entertained."
"Jealous?" Kazuya looks up to meet his husband smirking at him.
"A little," Eijun admits sheepishly, the smirk leaving his features.
"It's Youichi, and seriously, we're married."
"SO?! You could lose interest at some point and—OW!" Eijun rubs at his forehead, because Kazuya is a bully who still flicks him when he says something disagreeable. "Wakana was texting me a while ago too."
"What'd she say?"
"She was wondering if we were having a good time and then she went on to ask about Mochi's schedule."
"Oh? That's…" Well that is interesting and they've stopped walking at some point, so he knows they're going to address this right now.
The thing is, Wakana has been nothing but casual and normal around Youichi for as long as she's known him but Kazuya has noticed that ever since the wedding reception she's been paying more attention to him. He wonders if maybe—no, no, this isn't his business, this is something that's between Wakana and Youichi, maybe, but really, this is about Wakana and her feelings. Maybe she's just trying to get to know him more personally, but again, none of his business.
"Different?"
Bless Eijun for finishing his sentence because he didn't really have a word to finish his own thought.
"Yeah."
"I know, right? But Mochi is totally into Onii-san…" Eijun shakes his head, he looks pensive and a bit disappointed, so-
Wait what-
"What," he manages to blurt it out.
Eijun gives Kazuya a look that just screams, 'wow you barely noticed?' and the fact that Sawamura Eijun, his husband, densest person on the planet has noticed this before him—the world must be ending. It's the only logical explanation to him or maybe Eijun and baseball really were the only things he gave importance to.
"Doesn't he just really admire Ryo-san?" He reasons, because he's always been logical, he doesn't like to just jump to conclusions.
"Kazuya! Oh god!" And he hears a random snort in between Eijun's giggles. "No way! Tell me I'm not the only one who sees the way onii-san always takes the nearest seat next to Mochi, or the fact that they know each other's passwords to their social medias or the casual touches! Onii-san is a very delicate person who likes personal space! Like you, Kazuya! They kind of act like us, actually, or at least past us when we weren't together…"
"Are you just trying to turn Youichi's love life into a shoujo manga love triangle? He used to like Wakana before, who knows maybe he still does?"
Eijun frowns at him and he totally resents that. "I am not trying to make it a shoujo manga! Don't make fun of romance! And maybe… but he didn't really act any different with Wakana during the wedding. When he started going to college and saw Wakana was dating someone else, I think that sort of helped him move on."
"Huh…"
And Kazuya feels sort of shitty because he never really bothered to notice these types of things. He always does playful banter with Youichi, they push and pull at each other, playfully roast each other, and even give blunt advice to one another when either of them needs it—but other than that, he is always on the receiving end of Youichi's caring lectures and checkups or random texts. Kazuya never—he feels like a bad friend, but Eijun's soothing touch snaps him out of it.
"Don't have such a sour face, Kazuya. It isn't your fault you didn't know any of this. Mochi-senpai probably just kept it to himself because he wanted to."
He knows he's not the best person to go to for advice, he knows he can be emotionally stunted, but after hearing Eijun's part in all of this, he thinks Youichi might have confided in Eijun instead, and at least—at least he has someone, that's all that matters to him in the end. He just hopes someday Youichi can confide in him with, his feelings—that really sounds awkward in his head but he's talked his mouth off quite a few times about Eijun and Kazuya believes in fair game.
"Yeah, thanks for hearing him out though."
The cherry blossoms suddenly look like the most beautiful sight in the world mixed with Sawamura Eijun's molten gold and Kazuya actually takes a selfie with a victory sign and sends it to Youichi, but not before taking a picture of Eijun with petals in his hair.
Youichi snorts when he gets the picture of Kazuya but appreciates that his stupid friend is having a good time on his honeymoon.
###
When they get to the Osaka Castle Park around the later evening, Eijun's in usual awe, but this time Kazuya has a similar expression. Surrounded by greenery, the garden has such a captivating view of the castle tower and moat.
"Did you know that this garden has 600 cherry trees?" Eijun says this with wonder in his voice and Kazuya feels like this whole place is magic.
"I can definitely tell with all the mess they make."
"Kazuya! These petals are too beautiful to be messy!"
He snickers and pulls Eijun along as they continue walking through the area. It's decently crowded, but Kazuya likes that it isn't anything suffocating like the bullet trains during rush hours.
The castle tower and plum trees are lit up and mixed with reds, purples, blues, greens, and pinks, but the trees surround the castle, giving the castle most of the spotlight with its beautiful white glow. The outdoor lampposts give a cozy feel with their soft glowy orange lights, lighting your way through the park. The atmosphere is something otherworldly, something you recollect for years and Eijun's having the time of his life recording this experience instead of taking a million photos.
"This place is a historical beauty! We should go inside," he tugs at Kazuya's sleeve again, but Kazuya doesn't budge.
"You're acting like a tourist."
"We technically are! We've never been here. Besides, let's go hear about some Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of the most remarkable men in our history!"
"Ah, so your true intentions come out."
"Toyotomi Hideyoshi ended the Sengoku Period, Kazuya!"
"Alright alright, but first… come here."
Kazuya leads Eijun a bit further away from the main pathway and this is also why Kazuya's a bit glad there aren't too many people out tonight. They're behind a tree in the more dimly lit part of the park and when he gets Eijun alone like this, he recalls how the glowing lights a moment ago made Eijun's features stand out more, made him look softer somehow, and his husband is—god, he's so grossly in love with his husband.
"What is it Kazuya? Is something wrong?"
And Eijun shouldn't be looking so concerned. Kazuya almost feels guilty for pulling him away like this, but he's greedy and he just wants to ingrain this experience in his mind forever. Eijun always looks at Kazuya with such sincerity, that same sincerity that used to startle him, but now—now he just embraces it and it feels like a warm blanket. There's a quiet moment between them as Kazuya still hasn't answered Eijun's question, but Kazuya thinks Eijun's finally caught on when a lopsided smile appears on his lips.
Kazuya reaches his hand out to run his fingers through Eijun's hair, placing his hand against his cheek as he resists chuckling at Eijun's semi-flustered composure. "You're too cute and I just had to be greedy, that's my only excuse." Eijun compliments him all the time when it's just the two of them. He'll whisper words of affection into his ear and most of the time those words will lull him to sleep when his insomnia kicks in. But, this is also part of loving someone, wanting them to know how lovely they are in your eyes, how much you appreciate the little things about them.
"What! Where is this coming from?!" Eijun practically yells, grabbing Kazuya's larger hand and intertwines their fingers. "You choose the most random times to be embarrassing, Kazuya." His cheeks are as red as apples, and Kazuya kind of wants to take a bite. "And…" Eijun trails off, muttering something incoherent under his breath.
Kazuya raises a brow, "And what?" When Eijun doesn't answer right away, Kazuya notices his still very red cheeks and determined eyes staring at him now.
"I said that you're so cheesy but I like it."
Surprise etches its way onto Kazuya's face before he blinks a few times and then an all-knowing smirk appears. "Really now? Well good, because I'm not stopping the cheesiness. This is your fault after all. You've created this monster." Kazuya's heart definitely skips a beat – okay, maybe two.
Eijun is smiling gleefully as he nods his head. "How'd I get so lucky?"
Kazuya smiles back and really, he feels like his face will stay in a permanent smile if Eijun keeps making his heart swell like this every damn time. "I feel like that should be my line."
Without saying anything more, Kazuya swiftly leans forward and captures Eijun's lips with his own. And despite previously feeling Kazuya's eyes on his lips, golden eyes still widen in surprise but Eijun instantly flutters his eyes closed a second later and he relaxes into his husband.
Eijun gently moves his hand to cup the side of Kazuya's face and tenderly brushes Kazuya's lightly flushed cheek with his thumb. A thousand thoughts don't fill up Kazuya's head when they're together. His mind isn't hazy or blurry or cloudy. When he's with Eijun the sun comes out and he wonders half the time if maybe Eijun is the sun.
Eijun eventually removes his hand from Kazuya's cheek and envelops him in a hug. Their arms are tangled together, and they continue kissing, chaste in one moment, more passionate the next, because neither of them can get enough, not yet, and Eijun hears people talk about passion fizzling out, about having to work for it the longer you're together, and there are times Eijun wonders—but right now is not one of those times. Eijun gets hungrier for Kazuya's mouth and he breathes into him. He gently pushes Kazuya against the tree and trails his fingers across his jaw and neck and they have stopped because Eijun wants to watch him. He watches how beautiful Kazuya is when he's meeting his stare, when his eyes are glazed with desire.
"Don't stare," Kazuya laughs, breathless from the kiss and his eyes linger on Eijun's lips for a second or two before he speaks again, "Should we go inside before it gets later?"
The world starts spinning again, but only a little bit, and Eijun can only nod, as Kazuya's the one who pulls him away again to their next destination.
###
Eijun softly presses his lips against Kazuya's jaw, and Eijun feels hot, gusting breaths. The sheer intimacy of this makes Kazuya's head spin, because he's spread out on display for Eijun to take him, and Eijun's never been one to shy away from taking the lead. Every one of Eijun's movements is slow, deliberate, and carefully constructed in order to get as much physical contact as possible and Kazuya normally doesn't mind Eijun's lingering touches, doesn't mind feeling him anywhere and everywhere, but it's a double edged sword when their roles are reversed. Kazuya slowly rolls his hips against Eijun's over and over again in a futile attempt to make him move.
Eijun closes his eyes and grips the back of Kazuya's head. Kazuya tries his hardest to coax him into something a little faster, a little rougher, something more demanding. And it's interesting when he gives control over to Eijun, lets him lead and set the pace, he knows how addicting control can be, but he trusts Eijun full heartedly. Eijun's response is a throaty chuckle and a gentle nibble on Kazuya's ear lobe, and Kazuya recognizes this—he's notorious for dragging pleasure out of Eijun all the time, of turning him into a babbling mess without actually moving.
"Kazuya," Eijun whispers to him. "You're mine. Let me enjoy what's mine."
You're mine. Kazuya wants to argue that he's been Eijun's since they first got together, that he's pined after him since high school, that all he sees is molten gold, sun kissed skin, rosy lips and a soft mop of hair. All he hears is obnoxious laughter and soft bubbly giggles and an familiar sultry voice calling out his name. He hears Eijun's whispered declarations of love in the early mornings and late nights—but his favorite part is feeling Eijun's naked skin against his.
The very sound of Eijun's demanding voice sends a chill down Kazuya's spine, and Eijun loosens his grip when he feels Kazuya relax. There is something incredibly cathartic about actually giving his consent to being handled by someone he trusts, as opposed to him taking over and while it's addicting, to be able to taste and ravish his husband whenever he pleases, there's something so much more intimate about letting his walls down for Eijun. The fact he's this loved even in his most vulnerable state makes him weaker than ever.
Eijun's touches burn him, they burn him so good that Kazuya questions if he's even making sense at the moment. He is being handled with the utmost care, like something precious that Eijun can't let go of, someone to preserve and spoil. Kazuya takes this chance to thread his fingers through Eijun's hair and drag his lips against his husband's, too riled up to properly seal them down into a kiss.
So when Eijun finally thrusts into him agonizingly slow, Kazuya lets out the neediest whine he's ever heard himself make, something he'll definitely be embarrassed about later, but right now he just wants Eijun to thrust faster and deeper, so much deeper. Hazy gold meets clouded amber and Kazuya feels an all-consuming warmth spreading throughout his lower half.
The thing about Eijun is that he makes Kazuya forget his own name at times like these. He makes him forget how to form actual sentences, until everything he knows how to say is: more, more, and more.
Eijun manages to bite down on Kazuya's bottom lip and lets his roaming hands do the work. His fingers run through Kazuya's disheveled hair and he smiles at the way Kazuya's mouth slackens when he pulls at it harder and harder until he throws his head back against the bed and moans again. Eijun takes in the sight and shakes his head in adoration because Kazuya – god, Kazuya is so beautiful.
He's the most beautiful person he's come across and he's married to this gorgeous man.
Eijun presses his fingers into his hipbones to keep him in place while he thrusts in and out to the near perfect rhythm their shallow breaths create. He watches Kazuya look up at him through his eyelashes and stutter out his name and Eijun thinks of it as a song, then, before he knows it, Kazuya, comes on his stomach. The over stimulation makes Kazuya feel a little dizzy but he's so stupidly happy. Eijun carefully cleans himself and Kazuya up, and they don't even bother showering until they wake up from their nap.
They dream of playing baseball with their teammates again, of fastballs and change ups, of crossfires and knuckle balls and unyielding wills. They dream of hitting home runs, making it to home base and agitating the enemy pitcher. And of course they dream of their past defeats and current promises to become the best and they do this with dopey smiles on their faces.

"If we ever drink again, you're only having 2 glasses max!" Eijun reprimands Wakana with furrowed brows and an accusing finger, which Wakana swats away.
"I actually have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't drink at the reception."
Eijun sees the seriousness in his friend's features and—wait no, something's wrong.
"DOES THIS MEAN YOU FORGOT ABOUT THAT TERRIBLE VIDEO?"
"What video?" Wakana asks casually, and Eijun can be so easy sometimes when she sees his eyebrows raised.
"The one of me dancing half naked! And doing stupid dares! You really don't remember?!" Eijun blurts out.
"Eijun!" Wakana gasps, feigning shock and he feels himself go pale. Some long seconds later and he hears his friend giggle, unable to keep her laughter contained. "Just kidding, I remembered."
"WAKANA!"
"I couldn't resist! Sorry! It was Kazuya's idea," she says between muffled laughter.
"That was priceless! Haha! Thanks Wakana," and of course Eijun finds Kazuya behind him holding onto his sides laughing his butt off.
"I HATE YOU BOTH!"
"Eijun, you love us."
Eijun really hates that he can't argue with Wakana's statement. One miscalculation he had was that Wakana and Kazuya wouldn't ever join forces to torment him. They're menaces together and he regrets, he regrets being so trusting.
"Oi, Sawamura!" Youichi yells this from across the room as he raids their fridge, looking for something to drink and Kazuya gives Eijun an underhanded look. Eijun understands exactly what Kazuya is hinting at so they both snicker to themselves and answer in unison with, "Yes, Youichi-kun?"
"Oh my god! That was so in sync!" Wakana's having laughing fits again and they hear Youichi curse.
"You're going to have to be more specific than that when calling us from now on. We're both Sawamuras now, Youichi!~"
"You're both insufferable! I'm done with you Bakamuras!" And they all laugh at a scowling Youichi walking back to the living room taking sips from a small juice box.
###
If someone asks Kazuya how his married life is going he'd simply admit that it's the same thing as it was before he even got married. The only difference really is his name, and how now instead of boyfriend or fiancé it's husband. The truth is, there's no big change, only small gradual changes happen, like with any relationship and they have nothing to do with titles and everything having to do with time and experiences and appreciating wholeheartedly. Kazuya looks forward to the future now. He looks forward to growing older with Eijun, going on random road trips or even traveling across the world at some point, maybe even adopting a child—he's not sure about any of this, they're just ideas, but he's okay with not knowing the future. If there's one thing marriage has done for him, it's simply brought him even closer to his loved ones.
End Note: I had to give Kazuya Eijun's last name, HAD TO, YA HEAR? Although I admit, I'm guilty of liking the way Miyuki Eijun sounds more, BUT hear me out, hear me out: I like the idea of Kazuya taking Eijun's last name because... the Sawamuras + Kazuya make me melt... I love the image I get of him being surrounded by these lively and happy people and at the back of my mind, I'm like, I'm sure Kazuya wouldn't mind being connected to them like that either. SO YEAH, HE GETS THE LAST NAME. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay guys, on another note, that was my last chapter for this collection. It was such a fun thing to do. I have been able to see how my writing has progressed a bit throughout the years.
I've decided to just post my fics separately from now on, but I'll probably post a bit more on my AO3 which is under itsnacchi as well. I've also been working on this huge monster of a multi chaptered miyusawa fic, so I'll probably post that fic on this website when I've come up with enough chapters.
Anyway, thanks to whoever read these and liked them. Peace!
