Epilogue

They say time heals all wounds, but to be quite honest, I was not all too sure about that. Maybe one can learn to live with the wound, override the pain with the small joys of living, but you can never fully close it. Nothing would ever bring back everything that I had lost - Finnick, Felix, Aunt Olivia and Basil, who had still been so young, Seneca Crane, who had been a friend after all and ultimately, the girl I had been before the worst decision of my life.
My cousin had been wrong all along. There was no honour in winning the Hunger Games, there was nothing good whatsoever in participating.

After Coin's death, there had been no Capitol Games and it was a good thing. Otherwise, we would probably have had another rebellion on our hands by now. The new government was actually halfway decent, though I would probably never know how to deal with the cruel ideas that came out of Gale Hawthorne's mouth.

He did not get the girl, by the way. After all was said and done, Katniss had chosen Peeta. No one ever heard much from them, but I supposed they had found some peace in Twelve, or maybe busied themselves with keeping Haymitch from being too drunk.

Finnick and Annie's son was as beautiful as they came. He had his eyes.

Johanna's hair had grown back to around her shoulders and she had gained enough weight to make her look like a normal person.

Nero had gone back to District Two, along with my family. All of them healthy and fine, though they would never be the same as they had once been.

And I? I worked for the government, defending the rights of innocent Capitolites at every turn. I had always appreciated the irony of life. Besides, someone had to stand up and openly say that not every Capitolite deserved to he slaughtered and fed to the dogs.

The fire of revolution had burned out and as the smoke cleared and light broke through, we would see what was left to be touched by it. But Panem would live on. Today, tomorrow. Perhaps forever.

(Thanks to pinkdoughnuts for reviewing yesterday :)!)

Guys, we're done. I'd like to thank everyone who reviewed and fav'd and alerted and read over the course of this story. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

As always, it's weird to finish as well as awesome... I'll be on to new projects then. Until any of those will get published, why don't you check out one of my other stories? There's a Harry Potter one that's in currently in progress, for example.

Now that I'm done self-advertising, I'd like to wish you all a wonderful day! I hope to see you again soon :)
