Within the backstage area of the Total Drama Aftermath set, there was drama afoot. But, for a show called "Total Drama", such a thing was commonplace. A pair considered to be the best of friends, Katie and Sadie, were arguing. Their faces were inches from each other as they glared, with Sadie's arms up in the air while Katie had hers crossed.

"Trent talks to me more! I so have more of a chance with him than you!" Katie spat at Sadie.

Sadie huffed, pursing her lips. "I'm way smarter, though! You think too much with your heart, not your head! He wouldn't want an airhead like you!"

Katie gasped, a rather hurt expression on her face as she rested a hand on her chest. "You think I'm air headed?"

"Uh, yeah. You've gotten the both of us into trouble loads of times because you don't think. Remember when we failed the egg drop in middle school?"

"That wasn't...entirely my fault! The directions weren't specific enough!"

"Yes they were! We couldn't let the egg break! How hard is that?!"

"Okay, we are so getting off subject! Who cares about a stupid egg? I'm sure Trent wouldn't care! He likes me for my personality, not my head!"

"I bet he would also like someone who had a brain! I have a brain, and I'm pretty! That means I have a chance, and you don't!"

Katie growled, stomping her foot on the floor. "You are, like, so mean, Sadie! Why would he want someone rude like you?!"

"Because I actually made if further in the game! I have common sense! I'm smarter than you! And y'know what?" Sadie turned from Katie, folding her arms. "I don't think I wanna be your BFFFL anymore!"

A gasp escaped from Katie. "You can't be serious!"

"Oh, I am! I've had enough of you getting in my way! I am so done! Like, for real this time!"

"Sadie, I..." Katie could feel her throat close. She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Choking on a sob, Katie buried her face in her hands and ran past Sadie. Her sobs echoed through the hallway.

Noah was reclined on the couch, reading one of his books. The piece of literature within his hands was his sole escape from the commotion around him. However, one sound stood out. No matter how hard Noah attempted to block it out, it wouldn't subside. It was the heart-rending sound of a girl weeping.

"Maybe I better go somewhere else," Noah sighed as he rose from his seat, closing the book.

As the cries seemed to intensify, they grew rather difficult for Noah to ignore. He tried covering his ears, shoving his head beneath a pillow, plugging his ears. Yet, no attempt to disregard the unknown girl's sobbing was successful.

"That's it! I'm giving this girl a piece of my mind!" Noah shouted as he stomped down the hall. As he entered a separate room, Noah said, "Hey! Would you mind toning it down? Some people are..."

Noah's dark chestnut eyes grew wide as they laid upon the creature whose weeping led him to her. It was none other than Katie. Biting his lip, Noah glanced around the room. There were no signs of Sadie.

They must've had another fight.

Katie sniffled, turning to face Noah. "O-Oh, hi Noah. I didn't hear you come in."

"Uh..." This was rather awkward. As much as Noah wanted to turn and leave, he felt as though he was now involved in whatever was going on. He had no choice but to stay. Rubbing his neck, he said, "Is everything okay?"

"No," she answered, shaking her head.

"Let me guess, you and Sadie had another one of your cat fights," Noah stated as he sat by Katie's side. "And now you two aren't BFF... whatevers anymore. For the hundredth time."

"Y-You're so smart, Noah," Katie hiccuped, taking no notice to the sarcasm in his tone of voice. "I hate how we keep fighting like this. We never fought before we came onto the show. Ever! Oh, I wish we never came here! We were only in one season, anyway!"

Noah sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "No friendship's perfect, Katie. That's just something you two have to come to terms with eventually. If you two really are such good 'BFFs', then you'll have to fight through these conflicts to keep the friendship going."

Katie gaped at Noah in astonishment. She never perceived Noah to be someone she could come to about her troubles. After all, he was the most cynical person she knew. Aside from that, though, she also found Noah to be someone she could share a good laugh with on certain topics, such as Heather being confined within a freezer just a season prior to the current one. In her mind, Noah was a dear friend.

"I-I think I get what you're saying," the sweet girl said, scooting close to him. "I really should thank you for checking on me, though. You can be so sweet at times."

"Yeah, yeah, it's nothing. I heard you crying, so I just wanted to..."

The book worm was cut off when he felt Katie snuggle into his arms. "It wasn't nothing," she continued. "It means a whole lot to me."

Noah's cheeks burned as he shakily reciprocated the embrace. He was used to having girls reject his hugs, but now, a girl actually gave one to him. It was odd to think that moments ago, Noah desired nothing more than to shut Katie up so he could return to his book. Now, however, he wanted to stay by her side and keep her close.

"Katie?"

"Yeah, Noah?"

"L-Look, I...I..."

"Katie!"

Katie instantaneously pulled away from Noah. She gaped at the doorway as a third person entered the room. "S-Sadie?"

"Oh Katie, I'm so sorry!" Sadie exclaimed, yanking Katie into her arms. "I totally take back everything I said! I love you, Katie! I don't want anyone to come between us! Please forgive me!"

"Oh, Sadie," Katie cooed, hugging back her friend. "I totally forgive you!"

"So, we're still BFFFLs?"

"For life!"

Noah cringed at the girls' squealing. While he was relieved to see Katie gleeful once again, he also couldn't help feeling repulsed. Their squeals were becoming too much for him, and he couldn't help feeling bothered over how they were able to forgive each other so easily. Oh well. Katie could be someone else's problem now. "Yeah, I think I'm gonna go," the book worm said, rising to his feet.

"Eeeee!" Holding Katie's hands, Sadie grinned at her friend. "Katie, we should totally watch Rude Girls!"

"Oh my gosh!" Katie squeezed Sadie's hands, her smile widening. "Yes!"

As Sadie skipped ahead out of the room, Katie stopped and turned to Noah. The smile on her face softened, and she tucked a piece of loose hair behind her ear. "Thanks again, Noah," she said before leaning in, pecking his cheek. "I'll catch you later."

Noah gawked at Katie as she and her friend pranced together through the hallway. He slowly lifted his hand, resting it against the cheek of which Katie kissed. A small smile came across his tanned face.

I could get used to her.

NOTES

I wrote this before Noah/Emma became a thing. Before that couple happened, I very much wanted Noah/Katie to get together. They just looked so nice as a pair, and they had a few cute moments. Even though I love Noah/Emma, I still have a special place for Noah/Katie in my heart. So I knew I had to fix up this little story. Not just for myself, but for other remaining Notie fans as well. :)

These are not my characters.
