And getting to know Dante as a teacher will be really fun, I can assure you that! I hope I can live up to your expectations, haha! Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this chapter :)! 3
His fourth roommate wasn't that bad, either. Dean Thomas was a nice guy. Perhaps too friendly for his liking, but as long as he didn't step over the line, Nero was okay with it.
Harry and Neville were quiet, smart and interesting characters. And he didn't mind them one bit.
Ron, on the other hand… he still had mixed feelings about him. He guessed time would tell.
But he was honestly grateful for having them as roommates. There was a myriad of possibilities in which that could have gone wrong. And he's sure he could have ended up with way worse people. So he wouldn't complain. Much.
The first night was quiet, except for certain red-haired snoring, it was tranquil and he had a decent amount of sleep.
He had been the first to wake up, taking a quick shower before walking out the room, not wanting to wake any of the other guys.
His stomach rumbled, and an immediate blush coated his cheeks. Time to look for some breakfast, it seemed.
The way to the ground floor was quiet, yet long. He didn't remember that many stairs the day before. Then again that place was just completely strange. So he wouldn't be surprised if some magic stairs had appeared in the middle of the night.
He jumped the last three steps, frowning a bit at the glow his devil bringer kept on emitting. He didn't sense anything out of the extraordinary.
Looking around, he decided to trust his devil part. His boots hit the marbled floor as he walked through the hall, eyes narrowed and ready for anyone.
The vibrations going up his arm intensified, and he adapted a fighting stance, his free hand instinctively going for Red Queen, only to remember he had left it behind on the Principal's office.
He growled loudly, going to his gun holster then, hand on Blue Rose as he waited for whatever it was to-
"Why, hello!"
Nero jumped a couple feet in the air, whipping around and pointing his silver gun at… nothing.
Blinking owlishly, he opened his mouth ready retort, only to choke on his own words when a fucking ghost appeared from beneath his feet.
"Ah, fuck!" He yelled, falling on his rear rather ungracefully, and he was so thankful he was an early riser and nobody was there to witness such humiliating scene.
Standing up as quick as he could, he pointed his gun, eye twitching annoyingly at the giggle coming from the ghost or whatever-it-was lips.
"Hahaha, I gave you a nice scare, didn't I, boy? Welcome to Gryffindor!"
Blue rose pointed directly at the ghost, though his owner was half sure it wouldn't do any damage. "What the hell?! That wasn't funny, stop laughing!"
Oh god, his indignant face was priceless. The ghost laughed again, blatantly ignoring the death glare that had he been alive, he'd have died again.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't quite stop myself on time! You were looking a bit lost there. Where are you headed?"
"The… dining room." He finished lamely, placing his gun back into its place as he clicked his tongue, a bit irritated. He had faced many, MANY scarier things. But it was the first time he ever saw a… a ghost. Or spirit. Or whatever. It just took him by surprise. That was it. Clearing his throat awkwardly, he spun around then, stopping in his tracks when the man appeared before him again. "What?! I'm hungry, so would you please… move on, or something?"
Pointing behind the partial devil, he spoke again. "The great hall is THAT way, boy. You're heading to the fields this way." Floating through the boy, and ignoring the flabbergasted look, he beckoned him over. "The name is Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington! And I am Gryffindor's resident ghost!"
"Nero." He answered curtly, blushing a bit, but following the correct directions this time. "Ah.. thanks. You were-" He stopped then, realizing he was, once again, left alone in the hall. Alright then… shaking his head, not knowing it that all had been his imagination or if that had really happened, he decided that maybe all he needed was some food.
To his surprise, once he entered the gigantic wooden doors, he realized there was a couple dozen students already there. Granted, the tables were not even a ten percent full, but he thought he was going to find almost no one there.
The food seemed warm and recently made. And it smelled absolutely heavenly. He looked for a place to sit then, blinking at a familiar face.
Driven by pure curiosity, he walked closer then, lightly waving his hand to return the gesture to the girl. "Oh… hey. Good morning."
It looked like she wasn't the only early bird. Giving a tiny smile, and sipping some hot cocoa, she waved her hand. "Good morning!"
Scooting over a little, and feeling a bit surprised he chose to sit by her, she gave him a curious look. He looked totally adorable as he scanned the food then, as if he didn't know which one was his portion. "You can eat all you'd like. There's always plenty of food for everybody, so you don't have to worry about someone else not getting their ration."
Oh. He nodded then, mumbling a thanks and grabbing a bit of everything, though it was a bit complicated to maneuver with his arm on a cast. "Could-" Before he could finish, Anna was already grabbing his plate and helping him fill it with food. He blushed a bit, giving her a thankful look.
"It's not a problem!" She chirped, helping him cut some of the meat. "How did you break it? Y-your arm I mean… if you don't mind me asking!" She hurried to add, hoping it wasn't a very personal question.
He pondered for a moment, trying to come up with a convincing, real story. "I, uh… fell. I was doing a job, and had a pretty bad landing."
"Oh! Well, I hope you can take if off soon!" Especially once he had to play Quidditch or cast two-handed spells. "A-anyway, if you need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask me!"
"Yeah. Thanks." He answered, before stuffing his mouth with some chicken. It tasted ridiculously good. A light appreciation growl vibrating within his throat. Oh, he could definitely get used to it.
Well, it looked like he was hungry, huh? She returned to her own plate, eating her sandwich as she watched a couple boys running around. Probably first years. She hummed a light song, finishing her cocoa and lightly stretching her arms. Sighing softly, she fiddled a bit with her hands, before noticing something once she gave a look to her companion. Gasping softly, she pointed at him, before realizing she had been rude. "A-ah! I'm sorry! It's just… I just noticed you have a Gryffindor's coat!"
Ah, right. He swallowed, taking a sip from his juice, nodding. Quickly looking at her, he noticed she also had red clothing. "You too."
She nodded then. "Yeah… I always thought I was a Hufflepuff at heart, but it seems the sorting hat thought differently," She shrugged, being mildly vague. Honestly, out of all Gryffindor qualities… She wasn't brave. Not much, at least. Not that she wouldn't hesitate to jump in her friends' help. She's do everything for them. But still… she was quiet, shy, awkward. But she trusted the hat, as strange as that sounded.
Dante had mentioned something about there being four different houses in the school. Each counting with a different head and the students sorted there counting with different qualities. Dumbledore had also mentioned to be careful around the green ones. Slytherin, was it? Because they were nothing but bad news.
"Hey is there… is there… a ghost..?"
A ghost? "Y-you'd have to be a bit more specific there. There are a lot of them, here. Why? Did you see one?"
So it wasn't only one ghost?! Oh my God. "Yeah. I saw one by the red tower. Er… ah, Gryffindor's tower."
"Oh! That must have been nearly headless Nick! He's our house ghost. Each of the houses have got one! Though, I have seen quite a lot of them. But they're harmless. M-most of the time. So you don't have to worry about them!"
Demons, monsters, devils, angels… he could deal and kill all of them. But GHOSTS? Frigging Dante never mentioned anything about it!
Well, if he didn't think his stay there would be interesting before, he certainly did now.
