Epilogue

Dean sped down the highway, keeping an eye out for cops, but only half caring. God help them if they didn't make it in time.

"Dean," Sam said beside him, "Slow down! We can't help anyone if we're dead."

"We're dead if we don't get there in time, Sammy," Dean replied gravely.

Sam nodded in agreement, "I get that, but Jesus, Dean, take it easy."

Breathing deeply, Dean took his foot off the accelerator. Sam was right. With this snow, they'd end up dead.

Sam let out a sigh in relief.

"Oh c'mon grandma, it wasn't that bad," Dean joked.

"Yeah right," Sam said with a roll of his eyes.

"You'll wish I raced the whole way when we get there," Dean warned.

"What's gunna happen?" Sam asked, a bit of fear creeping into his voice.

"I don't know man, nothing good."

Within the hour, they were at their destination. Dean leaned over into the back, grabbing his duffle bag. He rushed to the house, and pushing the white gate open. He frowned when it squeaked.

Ignoring the annoying noise for the moment, he rushed up the stairs, and opened the door. Sam was quick at his heels, and followed him in.

"You're late!" A voice shouted from further inside the house.

Dean and Sam looked at each in worry

Buffy waddled out of the kitchen and down the hall towards them. Her frown was deep and menacing. "You were supposed to be home two days ago!"

Dean sighed, "I know, I know."

Narrowing her eyes dangerously, Buffy put her hands on her hips, "Oh, you know? So you know that you're two days late, and didn't feel the need in that time to call or text or, heck, even email and let me know?"

Sam crept past the bickering couple, trying to make his way to the back door, "I'm just going to head back to the cabin."

Buffy whipped in his direction, "Oh no, you're in just as much trouble as he is. You promised too!"

Dean grinned at his brother behind Buffy's back, happy that Sam would suffer with him.

Sam gave Buffy his good ol boy look, and managed to come across largely repentant. She exhaled deeply in response and pointed towards the back of the house, "Put your bags down and then get your butt back here. They'll start arriving in the morning, and I want this place looking down right Christmasy! Like a department store in November!"

Sam laughed and walked off, heading to his cabin at the back of the property.

Taking the distraction, Dean walked behind Buffy and wrapped his arms around her, "I'm sorry," he said carefully, "The nest took a while to find, and there was no cell reception. We got back as fast as we could."

"Hmm," Buffy replied, ponderously. "I guess you're forgiven," She said graciously.

Dean smiled, and turned her around for a quick kiss.

"I was an hour away from getting the ladder out and hanging the decorations myself."

He frowned, and looked down at her expansive stomach, "I'm glad you didn't."

"Me too," She said, looking down at herself, "I'm not feeling particularly graceful these days."

Smiling, Dean took her hand and led her into the lounge room, taking a seat and pulling her into his lap. He wrapped one arm around her, and rested the other hand on her swollen stomach. He felt completeness fill him as he sat with Buffy in his arms. Since he was a child, he knew hunting would be his life. He didn't expect the picket white fence, or settling down, but now, with his girl in his arms, and their child on the way, he knew his life was turning out exactly how it should be.

Contentment burned through him as he sat, knowing that tomorrow would be Christmas Eve. He'd soon be surrounded by all the people that mattered most, finally having the family he'd never knew he wanted.

Buffy snuggled into him, before taking some exploratory sniffs of his clothes. "Dean, while I'm loving the snuggles, you smell like a sewer. It's time for a shower."

He smiled as she got off his lap, and jumped up. "Sure thing, darling, but you know you're coming with me." He picked her up bridal style, and made his way to the stairs, ignoring her protests all the way.

A/N:

So thats it! I realise the epilogue is a bit cheesy, but thats how i wanted to end this. I wanted a happy ending, the die hard romantic that I am.

I want to give a big thanks to all the people who have read and stayed with me through this story. I've been terrible at uploading, but you've all still been there, so thank you so much for the support.

This story is over, but i daresay i'll be writing more buffy/dean in the future. I'm concentrating on a stand alone Buffy story atm but dean and buffy are my favs, so i'll be back to them eventually.

Thank you to my beta Laura, who put up with my talking nonstop about writing. She was always patient and there for me, so i owe her alot.

I hope you enjoyed the ride. Please review and let me know what you think.
