"Get your butt over here, Jinx!" I hear Rusty's call, noticing the pang of irritation tweaked into her tone.

I sweep over my lips with an extra coat of pomegranate red, and pout at my reflection before responding, "Mm, just a second!"

Taking a step back, I survey the final image reflecting the mirror.

Not to sound too vain or anything, but I look…good. Like one of those women in the fantastical perfume advertisements on television.

My silky dark blonde hair swam down my back like silver waves. Each lock was individually illuminated by the light's artificial rays. Swooping and waving around the edges of my face, and trailing down my bare back. The expensive deep black material of my dress hugged tightly against my bosom, waistline, and hips like a second skin before panning out and pooling at my feet. The strapless form of the dress showcased my prominent collarbones and olive toned shoulders. There was a long mischievous slit that stopped against the middle of my upper thigh. These heels that I wear feel like stilts but were the only pair that would match with my dress. The outfit was accessorised with pearl jewellery and a silk red clutch.

If there was one thing about parties and associations that I liked, it would be getting dressed up.

"Jennifer!" Rusty shouts out again.

"Coming, coming! Relax!" I say, blinking away from my reflection. I carefully choose a heavy bottle of an Italian branded sent from one of my top shelves and spray my wrists, before placing the bottle back and hurrying out of the room.

The 'clip clop' of my heels announce my entrance to everyone in the kitchen. I adjust my earrings and sigh, looking up.

"Alright, let's go." I tell Rusty, who is wide-eyed and gaping at me. I look across to everyone else, who has duplicate expressions on their face. What happened?

"Are you trying to catch flies?" I ask with a small frown.

There is a small silence before Peter is the first to answer, "You look nice." He says slowly, emphasising on 'nice'.

"I know." I respond, and flash a bright smile. That's when everyone snaps out of their little trance, and they all go back to being their normal and idiotic selves. Peter chuckles at my words and shakes his head.

I turn back to Rusty, "We going?" I ask, and she nods gathering her things before walking over to me.

I eye Peter and his friends, "I know I've told you this before," I begin to say.

"Seven times today." Drax points out legitimately.

I ignore him and continue, "You must not touch anything in my house of important value. You must not let anyone exit or enter, including yourselves. And most of all, do not – I repeat – do not be seen by anyone." I finish, and suddenly realise that Rocket was mocking me with exaggerated hand motions and mouthing my words.

"Do I make myself clear?" I ask and glare at Rocket. This was no joking matter.

"Yes, sir." Rocket salutes. I glare, but choose to ignore him and look over to everyone else who nods at me slowly.

"We understand, Miss Quill." Drax speaks.

"Yeah, man." Peter raises a thumbs up.

"I shall try my best to keep them in order." Gamora nods firmly.

Groot stays silent and smiles at me.

"Okay, good. I trust you." I say and breathe heavily. Why am I worrying so much? They'd be fine. And I'd only be gone for a few hours anyway. It's okay.

I follow Rusty down the hallway and to the door, with our choir of noisy heeled footsteps. She opens up the front door, and locks up behind us with her pair of keys.

"Are y'all really sure they'd be fine?" Rusty suddenly turns to me with a glint of concern shining in her eyes under the bright moonlight.

"Positive." I assure her with a pearly grin, although I wasn't really sure myself. But the last thing I wanted was to worry Rusty. Then all hell would be let loose. She wouldn't let us leave if I told her my assumptions.

We continue down the steps of the dimly lit front yard and for the first time, I take a good look at what Rusty had decided to wear. I notice she looks really beautiful. Her hair swept up into an elegant, smooth and talented low bun, framing her face along with an arrangement of long diamond earrings. The mint and silver color of her evening gown compliments her darker toned skin, and the heels she wears look much better than her brown leather boots. She looks as if she had stepped off a pageant stage.

"You look good, Rusty." I tell her.

She frowns up and me, "Huh?" she says as we make our way to the car.

"Nice dress." I smile brightly and take the keys off of her, and walk to the other side of the black car. She seems baffled for a second before shaking her head and turning to her own door. I press the unlock button on the mini remote and the headlights flash as the car makes a double 'beep' noise.

Before any of us could enter the car, a loud commotion seems to be happening next door. It was a newlywed couple who lived there, and they both moved in very recently. I don't even know their names, nor that would I bother to anyway. The yellow floodlights on their front porch light up and the front door heavily swings open.

"I am done with you!" a man steps out into the front yard, looking angry as he throws his hands up.

A woman appears at the front door and begins to throw articles of clothing, shoes, and finally a suitcase out onto the front yard.

"Go! Leave!" she shouts back. "You're a liar!" she accuses.

"Narissa, how could a soccer ball possibly create that destruction?" the man asks, but the woman – 'Narissa' – has already slammed the door shut.

He sighs and begins collecting the items off the front yard's surface. Rusty and I look back to each other and shrug, opening our doors and heading inside the car.

"Do you turn left or right?" I ask Rusty, keeping my fingers resting on both indicator switches.

"How am I supposed to know?" Rusty says lousily, leaning up against the car window and yawns.

"Because you studied all the streets when we were working for S.H.I.E.L.D." I tell her with a small frown.

"It doesn't mean I know where an empty parking spot is, Jinx." She looks at me.

I grunt in disapproval and try to decide for myself, as queues of cars begin to park up behind me. I take some time trying to figure out which way to go, until one of the cars behind us begin to beep and a woman sticks her head out of the window saying, "Hurry it up down there!"

"Jennifer." Rusty sighs and points right.

I flick my indicator to the right and turn quickly before anyone else decides to complain. And to our luck, there is a free parking spot. I pull into the spot and sigh in relief, switching the keys out of the ignition.

Before we leave the car I search through my clutch for my lipstick tube, while Rusty begins picking at her hair bun.

"Man, you are a horrible driver." I hear a familiar voice say from the back seat.

I turn around and shout. Rocket, Peter, Gamora, and Drax were all piled up in the back seat of my car amongst blankets from my bedroom. Rusty turns around and makes a worried groan.

I begin to laugh looking at them all and then stop all together, frowning furiously. "Just what in the world are you all doing in my car?!" I shout at them.

"Sitting down and being yelled out by a mortal." Drax answers dully. I give him a look before continuing.

"I told you all that you were not to come!"

"Yeah, but we came anyway." Peter shrugs casually.

"And what? You just left Groot alone in my house?"

"Nah, he's in the back box." Rocket answers calmly, and as if on cue there are two loud knocks coming from the boot of the car.

"Oh my god." Rusty covers her face with her hands.

"Idiots. You are all idiots!"
