After having returned to Arendelle, Elsa and the others spent the next couple of days settling back into their lives. One of the things that Elsa does is to get caught up on what happened in the village. After being informed, the Queen of Arendelle summons the Captain of the Palace Guard. As the Captain enters the room, he sees two other people there with the queen. One person is the Chancellor. The other person was the guard that assisted Kristian in leaving the palace.

As the Captain walks in, he glares at this guard for a moment before he stops before Queen Elsa and gives her a bow. "You have summoned me, my queen?" asks the Captain.

"Yes, I did summon you, Captain," replies Elsa. "The reason concerns what took place while I was away from Arendelle."

"Your majesty, you cannot just take the word of these two gentlemen as fact," interrupts the Captain.

"I took more than the word of these two gentlemen," replies Queen Elsa. "I discussed the issue with the royal council, Olaf, and even Kristian. What I have concluded is that you have too much responsibility. Therefore, I have decided to remove some of that responsibility from you."

"You're demoting me!?" exclaims the Captain.

"In a sense, but you will still retain the title Captain," replies Queen Elsa. "However, the security of the palace will no longer be under your control. The palace security will be taken care of by a separate individual, who will equal you in rank."

"But your majesty, surely you know that the council was split on the course of action," objects the Captain. "And Arendelle was in danger. Kristian's fires were becoming uncontrollable. It was my duty to protect the village and the palace. Surely you must understand that."

"I have discussed the situation with Kristian and others," sternly says Queen Elsa. "I believe that I understand exactly what was taking place in my absence."

"Your majesty, you can't take Kristian's word on this matter," objects the Captain. "He was the reason that Arendelle was in danger! He would be biased against me! Kristian would say anything to shield himself from blame!"

"Don't be so quick to judge him!" angrily replies Elsa, as some ice begins to form in the room. "It was Kristian that partly came to your defense!" Elsa notices the fear in the Captain's eyes. So she recomposes herself before continuing. "Captain, if it wasn't for Kristian, I most likely would have removed you from your command. However, your loyalty to the Kingdom of Arendelle cannot be questioned. That is why I have decided to retain you for its defense."

My apologies, your majesty," says the Captain as he bows to Queen Elsa. "If my duties do not include the palace anymore, my I inquire who is to take over those duties."

With this, Queen Elsa motions over to the guard that is in the room with them. The Captain looks at this man with almost a look of disbelief. "Captain of the Elite Guard, may I introduce you to the new Captain of the Palace Guard. He will be your equal in the kingdom," says the Chancellor with a bit of a smile.

"What?! Your highness, you can't be serious about this man!" exclaims the Captain of the Elite Guard. "He has disregarded my orders in the past, and he deliberately challenged my authority in front of my men!"

"Your authority needed to be challenged, Captain," replies Queen Elsa. "Granted, there should have been a better way of doing it. However, as I understand it, you caused the confrontation in front of your men. This gentleman here did his best to follow my wishes for the security of Arendelle and Kristian. I need people around me that I can work with, and I need to feel secure that my friends will be well treated. Kristian is a close friend, and he deserved better treatment than what you gave him."

"Just be thankful Captain," then says the Chancellor. "The queen has been more than fair with you. You still are the lead authority, behind the queen, for the defense of Arendelle."

For a moment, the Captain stiffens and bristles with anger. However, the Captain soon relaxes as he begins to accept the words of the Chancellor. "Very well, I shall graciously accept the queen's decision," says the Captain. "Is there anything else, your majesty?"

"No, there is nothing more that needs to be said," replies Elsa calmly.

"Then I shall take my leave and begin to make arrangements for my new assignment," says the Captain of the Elite Guard.

"Of course Captain, and thank you for being so understanding," replies Elsa.

With this, the Captain of the Elite Guard takes a bow and begins to proceed out of the room. However, before he gets too far, the Captain of the Palace Guard says, "I do hope we will be able to work together in the defense of the kingdom."

The Captain of the Elite Guard looks over to this gentleman with a glare. Then with a hiss, he says, "We shall see." Then the Captain of the Elite Guard walks out of the room.

Now that the situation with the Captain of the Elite Guard was settle, Elsa can now focus on something that is more enjoyable. A party has to be planned. If there was a reason to celebrate, Anna and Elsa would always throw some sort of gathering. Now that Kristian was once again back to full health, Elsa and Anna are going to welcome him back into the village properly.

Due to the time it took to return the energy of the curse back to Tollak, summer is almost over. However, Elsa and Anna are taking their time to plan the party. So the party finally occurred shortly after the fall season had started. It was also the time for the fall festival to begin as well.

As always, Elsa decorated the palace with many decorative ice structures. However, Elsa is not the only one who is helping with the decorations. Kristian is also there. In cooperation with Elsa, Kristian is able to cover the top of the tall spires that Elsa makes with fire. Because Elsa and Kristian worked together on this, the fire does not melt the ice.

In time, the villagers and visitors to Arendelle show up at the palace for the festivities. As always, people are amazed at the work that everyone had gone through to get the palace ready. Along with the ice displays there are also several fire pits built around the courtyard. There is even one special fire pit near the front doors that lead into the palace. This pit was specially made to provide a splendid place for Mattias to rest in. This pit was also equipped with an iron perch for Mattias to land on.

This pit is of particular interest to the children of the village. It wasn't every day that the kids get to feed the firebird a piece of wood. Of course, Mattias enjoyed the attention of the children. So the firebird would show off now and then. Sometimes it was just a temporary flame surge. Other times, Mattias would take to the air; and he would leave a long stream of flame behind him as he flies around the courtyard.

While Mattias is able to entertain many people outside in the courtyard, there are also many things going on inside the palace. In the main ballroom, many people are enjoying themselves by dancing. Among these people are Anna and Elsa. Each one is dancing with their respective partner. Once again, Kristoff is well attired. He almost looks regal, or as regal as Kristoff is able to look.

As for Kristian, these are the finest clothes that he has ever worn. Many people in the crowd would marvel at how dignified Kristian looks. In actuality, Kristian was simply beaming with pride. In his mind, Kristian was dancing with the most beautiful girl in the world. It didn't matter what others thought. It only matter that he had his girl.

At the same time, Elsa is feeling the same way about Kristian. Here Elsa has her gentleman, and he is looking and acting like a true prince. Granted Kristian was a prince before that title was lost to him as a young boy. However, his mother did bring Kristian up with the manners that any royal would need in social settings.

As Elsa and Kristian danced, thin ribbons of snow and fire would swirl in the air above them. These ribbons were in a dance of their own.

"You look wonderful today," comments Elsa during the dance. "I have always thought you were hansom, but now I don't think there is a man alive that can compare to you."

"There is nothing special about my looks," replies Kristian with a smile. "I think it has more to do with the company that I am keeping. The right accessory can make anybody look wonderful, and right now I think that I am holding onto the most beautiful being in the kingdom."

Elsa begins to blush a little. Then she says, "You better be careful with comments like that. You might get a reaction that you didn't intend."

"Perhaps, but I have managed to handle your little cold spells in the past," replies Kristian with a smile.

Then with a devilish smile, Elsa says, "My magic is only one possible reaction. I am capable of others."

"Oh, I think I might be able to handle those as well," replies Kristian cheekily.

Elsa then giggles a little. Then she says with a silly lint in her voice, "I do hope you will be able to."

While Elsa and Kristian are enjoying themselves, they are not the only ones. Anna and Kristoff are enjoying the dance too. It was during their dance that Elsa glances over at Kristoff and Anna. Then she turns back towards Kristian. "I think it is time we try and set things right by my sister and Kristoff," says Elsa amusingly.

Kristian looks over at Anna and Kristoff. Then he looks back at Elsa and smiles. "All right, I guess that I should try and make amends. After all, I did ruin the last celebration."

With that, Elsa and Kristian begin to walk to the throne area of the ballroom. As they do, Elsa says, "I hope you don't blame yourself too much for what happened. Because I know that Anna and Kristoff don't, and neither do I."

"I know. I just wonder if I truly deserve everybody's understanding," replies Kristian.

"Trust me, you do deserve it," says Elsa in an attempt to reassure Kristian. "I believe you need all the understanding that we can give you."

"I think you might be a little too biased towards me," replies Kristian cheekily.

"Maybe I am," responds Elsa with a giggle. "But do you blame me?"

"No," says Kristian with a smirk. "I sort of enjoy it."

Once they have reached the throne area, Elsa turns around and nods towards the royal Chancellor. Meanwhile, Kristian takes up a position just behind Elsa a few feet away. With the indication from the queen, the Chancellor signals the musicians to stop playing. Then the Chancellor gives a signal to the trumpeters. These trumpeters then alert everyone in the room that their attention is needed towards the throne.

With this everyone stops what they are doing, and they all turn their attention towards Queen Elsa and the Chancellor. Once the room quiets down, the Chancellor steps forward. "Please, your attention is desired. Queen Elsa of Arendelle wishes to address her guests," announces the Chancellor.

With this introduction, Elsa begins to speak. "I want to thank all of you for coming to this fall festival. As you all know, this festival celebrates the bountiful harvest and the success that we all have had here in Arendelle over the past year. One particular success that I am grateful for is the return to full health of Kristian." With this, Elsa gestures towards Kristian. Then applause comes from the gathered crowd. With this introduction and response, Kristian steps forward and gives a slight wave.

"There are many people who are responsible for that success," continues Elsa. "I have already thanked those that helped me on my journey to the home of Tollak, the person responsible for Kristian's unstable condition. However, I have not yet thanked those that remained behind. Before I left, I had requested that Kristian was to be taken care of. From what I understand, that was not an easy task. For those of you that handled those difficulties, I am extremely grateful. It gives me pride to know that many of my subjects will go to such lengths to help out a dear friend to me."

"Now there is only one more thing for me to take care of," says Elsa with a bright smile. "When Kristian's condition revealed itself at the anniversary of my coronation, a dance was going on. Unfortunately, the dance was interrupted. So now I am going to set things right." With this, Elsa nods towards the Chancellor.

The Chancellor steps forward and says, "I request the presence of Princess Anna of Arendelle and Sir Kristoff, the Ice Master of Arendelle."

So in response to the request, Anna comes forward with Kristoff. "Elsa, what are you up to?" questions Anna as she nears her sister.

"You'll see," replies Elsa with a smile.

Once Anna and Kristoff are facing the crowd, the Chancellor says, "Due to the fact that Princess Anna's and Sir Kristoff's first royal dance was interrupted, Queen Elsa has decided that the royal couple should be able to finish their first official royal dance."

"Oh Elsa, you really don't need to do this," says Anna with a slight smile.

"I know that I don't need to, but I want to," replies Elsa. "You are my only sister."

With this said, Elsa walks out to the middle of the clearing dance floor. Then by using her magic, Elsa creates a snowflake shaped pattern on the floor. This snowflake was created by varying colors of ice. Once Elsa was done, she steps away from the snowflake and the musicians begin to play.

"Princess Anna and Sir Kristoff are asked to proceed to the dance floor to continue their dance," states the Chancellor.

So, Anna and Kristoff proceed to the snowflake that Elsa had created. Once there, they begin to dance. As for Elsa, she is standing just off to the side of the snowflake. While there, Elsa uses her magic to cause a light snow to fall from the ceiling. Along with the snow, Elsa also creates an ice chandelier that hangs from the ceiling.

While Elsa was creating these wonders of snow and ice, Kristian comes walking up alongside of her. Then Kristian raises his hand and inserts it in the energy stream that Elsa was using to create the ice chandelier. Once his hand was in the energy stream, Kristian unleashes his own magic. By doing this, Kristian is able to combine his magic with Elsa's. So with his energy now participating in Elsa's creation, Kristian is able to make the chandelier shine brightly.

Elsa smiles at Kristian as he does this. Elsa then quickly turns her attention back to the creation of the chandelier. Elsa then is able to use this new light emanating from the chandelier by creating many ice prisms. These prisms then are able to spread the light around the room in small spots of colorful light.

Once Elsa was done with her creations, she looks at Anna and Kristoff with a smile of satisfaction on her face. Then without turning away from them, Elsa says, "Thank you for helping to make this special for them."

"It's no big deal," replies Kristian. "I sort of owed it to them anyway. Besides, I knew this meant a lot to you; and I always did enjoy seeing you smile."

Elsa turns to Kristian and smiles brightly. Then she says, "I have several reasons for smiling today; Arendelle is safe and prosperous, my sister is happy, and you are here with me."

"I think I can come up with something that can improve that smile of yours," replies a smiling Kristian. Then he stretches his hand out to Elsa and says, "Does the Queen of Arendelle care to dance?"

"I'm tempted, but this is Anna's moment," says Elsa with a smile. "I don't want to intrude on this dance."

"We don't have to be out there with them. We can dance right here," suggest Kristian. "So? Is that idea acceptable?"

Elsa ponders that idea for a moment. Finally she says, "Yes, very well, we can dance here."

So Kristian takes Elsa in his arms and they begin to dance. Elsa continues to smile as she enjoys her time with Kristian. However, her mind soon goes back to her sister. So Elsa turns her head to look at Anna. What Elsa sees is Anna looking back at her. Anna has a big smile on her face as she looks at Elsa and Kristian. So Elsa smiles back at Anna.

Kristian looks over at Anna and Kristoff as well. Then he says, "Why don't I make this dance even more special. That is, if you are willing to help me." With this, Kristian stretches a hand out towards Anna and Kristoff.

"Of course," replies Elsa as she places her hand on the outstretched wrist of Kristian's. A blue energy then begins to glow around this hand. "But what exactly did you have in mind?"

"Just this," replies Kristian as he begins to use his modified magic. Flames begin to form under the snowflake dance floor. Because of Elsa's add magic, the fire does not melt the ice. Soon the flames lift the snowflake off the floor about a foot, and then it begins to slowly rotate.

Both Anna and Kristoff are amazed by this, and Anna's excitement can easily be seen. After seeing Anna's reaction, Elsa giggles a little. Then she says, "You certainly have a bit of a romantic flare in you."

"I try and do my best," replies Kristian. "I just wonder if I can keep these little surprises up for you."

"You have already met the one surprise that I truly care about," responds Elsa. "And that surprise was the one where you came into my life."

"Like I've said before, I'm glad that you are easy to please," says a smiling Kristian.

Elsa giggles a little. Then she says, "No not easy, just simple needs."

Then with that said, Elsa and Kristian begin to dance around the levitated snowflake. Meanwhile, Anna and Kristoff dance on their raised dance floor. Both couples are enjoying the festivities as the light fades away from the sky. However with the skills of Kristian and Mattias, the air is never without light. So the celebration continues late into the night, as everyone enjoys the unique circumstances of the festival.

(There, I've tried to conclude this story. To be honest, I never would have started this story if it wasn't for the fact that I liked my Frozen 2. As a story, Fire Demon's Curse is OK; but it doesn't quite feel right. However, that is just how it goes sometimes.)
