There was one last interview for the tributes to say goodbye. Johanna was in another stupid tree dress. Wasn't anyone in this stupid place any good with clothes?

She was irritable because her stupid dress was itchy. She didn't want to go back into the arena. The thing she was most mad about though was that she had just found soulmate and now she was being taken from her! It was awful enough that Johanna herself was being put through this, but to make her soulmate do it too - it was unacceptable. She wanted to protect Katniss any way she could. Even if it meant that she would have to put herself in danger to make sure that Katniss was okay, she would. She had lost too many people she loved because of the Capitol and she wasn't about to lose another, even if they had just met. Soulmates had always meant something to Johanna and the fact that hers would be put into danger because of this shit meant that someone would have to pay.

Johanna gave her speech, which mostly consisted of saying that the games were a load of shit and that it was unfair that she was being put through this again; she was being led to the side of the stage to cool off a bit and to fix her dress.

Johanna was telling her idiot stylist how the dress should lay when she saw Katniss and her escort walking up.

'God, she's beautiful', was all Johanna could think.

Katniss was really hot most of the time, to Johanna, but seeing her in that dress took her breath away. 'Man, I really scored with this one!'(needs italics). Johanna smiled at Katniss. Johanna hadn't smiled since her house burnt down two years ago, not a real one anyway. Katniss smiled back at her, pleased that her soulmate was pleasant so far. Johanna's smile froze on her face when she took in the dress that Katniss was wearing. It was red and stopped mid thigh, showing off Katniss' really great legs, and it was a low cut in the front showing off Katniss' breasts to the world. Johanna felt jealous that anyone could see how stunning her soulmate's body was. 'Why does she have to be so fucking gorgeous when I am stuck looking like a fucking tree!?'

"Really? You're wearing that?" Was what came out of Johanna's mouth. Katniss was taken aback. She didn't know what happened, one minute Johanna was smiling and the next she's talking like that.

"It's what my stylist picked out for me." Katniss said.

Johanna walked closer to Katniss, looking her up and down, when she got to Katniss' eyes, she winked. Katniss couldn't help her small but proud smirk, catching on. The dress was making Johanna jealous. Johanna wanted no one but herself to see Katniss in this dress. Johanna had a jealous side and Katniss liked it.

After the interview, Katniss didn't see Johanna again. She was being led to the tube that would put her in the arena. After a hug from Cinna, Katniss was still nervous. Her gut was in knots. She was shaking with nerves and fear. She was scared of the horror that the games produced. She broke out in a nervous sweat. She really didn't want to do this.

The announcement came that the tributes had fifteen seconds left before the games began. Katniss stepped in. She tried to get a hold of her nerves as the tube closed around her, sealing her in. She turned to wave goodbye to Cinna when four Peacekeepers stormed in and bashed Cinna's head against the outside of her tube, breaking his nose. Blood was gushing out, covering the outside of the pipe. The Peacekeepers knocked him to the ground and began to kick him and stomp their heavy boots, surely snapping a few of Cinna's bones.. Katniss screamed, helpless to do anything. She wanted to help him but the tube began to move upward. She heard nothing. She tried to stop all emotion, pushing it away, but she could not help the panic welling up inside her, forcing its way out in heavy breaths. Katniss steeled herself, preparing herself for what may lay ahead. The arena came into focus and Katniss saw that it was sounded by water. It was some sort of island. (

The sound of the cannon was one that Katniss could go the rest of her life without hearing again. She knew that she had to jump in the water when she could, so the moment she heard it, she jumped into action. She swam to the pile of rocks in between the victor's pedestals and climbed up. Noticing that there was a career behind her, she picked up the pace. She got to the small rock structure and grabbed the bow and arrows waiting there. She heard someone beside her and saw Finnick Odair. He smirked at her and told her that there was someone behind her. She spun around and sure enough, there was a career a few feet away. She shot an arrow at his foot and he fell into the water.

"I'm going to look for Haymitch. Keep a look out for the careers." Finnick said.

Katniss heart was pounding in her ears and she barely heard anything. Finnick called for her and she went over to him and Mags, the old woman from Four, was pointing to the water where Haymitch was trying to fight off one of the male tributes. Finnick jumped in to help him fight the guy off. Haymitch and the tribute went under the water before Finnick could get there. Finnick tried to dive in to find them when a body floated up.

Katniss' heart stopped, she couldn't do this without Haymitch. After a second, just as Finnick was about to turn the body over, Haymitch's head emerged, coughing up water. Katniss could breath again.

They all got out of the water and got up to the beach. Katniss looked back to the others gathered around the rocks. Johanna was nowhere to been seen. Katniss hoped that she was safe.

Johanna grabbed an axe and got Nuts and Volts and Blight, the male tribute from Seven, someone she could trust for now, and lead them to the forest. Before she went all the way in, she looked back to see if Katniss was alright but the girl was no-where to be seen. Johanna didn't have time worry about her, even if Katniss was constantly in the back of her mind, as she had a job to do. Keep Nuts and Volts safe. That was all she could afford to worry about right now as the sound of the cannon went off again and again.

Katniss, Haymitch, Finnick and Mags ran a small ways into the forest when Finnick stopped to get Mags on to his back. The cannon was so loud above them it rattled in their chests. Finnick laughed at the sound.

"I guess we aren't holding hands any more." he said, referencing the previous night when all the tributes had held hands, united in the fact that none of them wanted to be back into the arena again.

Katniss bristled. "Do you think this is funny?"

Finnick had an odd look on his face. "That cannon is music to my ears. I don't care about any of them."

Katniss thought of Johanna.

Haymitch interrupted the stare down between the two youngest by saying it was time to move.

Haymitch lead the way, cutting vines out of the way to make a path. Finnick was behind him with Mags firmly on his back. Katniss brought up the rear, looking around for any danger in the trees or moving greens.

She didn't know if she could trust Finnick yet, but Haymitch vouched for him so that would have to do for now. Katniss was taking turns looking behind her at Finnic and keeping an eye on Haymitch in case there was some surprise atack; when she saw a shimmering in front of where Haymitch was about to cut. She saw a strage almost shimmering glow. Katniss saw Haymitch raise a sword up. Realizing what it was, she screamed out.

"Haymitch, no!"

But it was too late. He had brought his blade down on the force field and the current ran through him, sending him flying backwards with the force of the blow.

He landed with a thud and didn't move.

Katniss ran over but stopped at his side, she didn't know what to do to help him. Finnick pushed her away but she shoved him back. Finnick shoved her harder, forcing her back as he began chest compressions and then breathing into his mouth, forcing air into the older man's lungs. Mags grabbed Katniss' hands in her smaller ones, worried for him.

Effie stared at the screen in horror. She stopped breathing. Clutching at her heart like it had stopped with Haymitch's. She didn't want to lose her soulmate when so much was at stake. The entire plan relied on Katniss and if Haymitch wasn't there to mentor her and lead her in the right directions, when she didn't even know she was being led, she would never go along with it.

"Come on Haymitch! Come on!" Finnick shouted as he continued the compressions. For a few seconds, nothing happened. Finnick just pushed harder, forcing air into Haymitch's lungs, harder. Haymitch gasped as his heart started again. Katniss cried out in relief.

When he gasped, Effie fell back onto the couch, relief coursing through her. She couldn't help but smile. The plan was still on.

After they found a place to stay for the night and got Haymitch comfortable, Katniss and Finnick started arguing about who would keep first watch. Katniss didn't trust Finnick, making Finnick annoyed. They both stayed up, trying to prove the other wrong when Finnick gave up, dehydrated and exhausted from the long day.

"Fine, if you're not going to sleep, then I will."

Katniss nodded.

Nothing happened for quite a number of hours. Katniss' eyes began to droop with sleepiness, when she finally slumped over. She was not asleep for long when she jerked awake. She looked around seeing nothing at first, until a fog began to roll in. Katniss reached out to touch it, but as soon as she did, her skin began to burn and blister where it made contact. Her screams startled the others awake.

"Run! The fog is poison!"

They all gathered their weapons and Finnick got Mags on his back as they ran from the poison fog. Crashing through the green, they ran, slipping on mud as the fog gained on them. Haymitch was slowing down, weak from getting shocked earlier that day. Katniss grabbed onto his arm, tugging him away from the ever gaining mist. Haymitch slipped on a root and tripped, Katniss desperately trying to pull him away. He could not go on any longer, he slumped back into the fallen leaves, unable to carry on. Katniss tried to pick him up but he was too heavy for her to carry.

"Finnick, help!" Katniss yelled. Finnick ran over with Mags still on his back as he helped try to pull Haymitch up.

"We need to carry him but he's too heavy for me." Katniss said, eying the fog that was almost upon them.

"But what about Mags? I still need to carry her." Finnick panicked.

Mags knew what she had to do.

Mags kissed Finnick goodbye and then walked into the fog. The sound of the cannon was one that made them deflate a bit. They knew she wouldn't last but it was still heartbreaking that she had sacrificed herself. Finnick stood motionless, staring where Mags once was, realizing that he she was gone, he had no time to mourn thee womanwho was the clostest he had to family left.

The fog was creeping closer.

"Finnick come on!" Katniss yelled, hoping to urge him on. The fog then touched them. Katniss, Finnick and Haymitch all screamed. Katniss and Finnick got on either side of Haymitch, slinging one of his arms around them as they ran, still being burnt by the fog.

They ran, blinded by the fog, as they tripped and all rolled down a hill. Heads hitting, legs tangling, arms flailing, trying to grab onto something to slow the fall. They stopped at the edge of a small pond. Dazed they looked up and seeing the fog right there, almost touching, when it suddenly rolled up and then away.

They were in too much pain to move. After a few seconds of forcing her muscles to move, Katniss began to inch towards the water to clean the burns. After minutes of slowly inching forwards, Katniss got to the water's edge and forced her hands in. It stung, burning just as bad as when the fog hit her, she made her hands move to clean the burns when it appeared to dissolve a little bit. This gave her the strength to push both hands in and clean them. The water somehow made the blisters better. She really didn't care too much about anything else at this point. She called for the boys to go to the water. Katniss and Finnick had to help Haymitch submerge and they had to hold him up as they helped clean him off.

After they had recovered, they went to find the weapons they dropped on the fall. It took a few minutes to find them all but when they did, they met back at the small pond to figure out where to move to next.

Katniss was cleaning dirt from her bow string when she heard a rustling come from some nearby bushes. She pulled out an arrow and pulled her bowstring back, holding her breath, listening for a sign of where the thing was. Suddenly, a massive mutated monkey jumped on top of her, snapping its teeth inches from her face, but she held it back with her bow at its throat. Before she knew it, she was underwater, pushed down by the monkey whose teeth were slowly inching closer to her face.

The water stained red and the monkey went limp on top of her. Haymitch pushed its body off of her and pulled her from the water. He kept her close to him as he fought off more and Finnick was struggling to keep away those that were coming from the sides. Katniss released arrow after arrow, but more monkeys came, surrounding them. There were too many to fight off. They were on the ground, in the trees and swinging on the vines. There had to be at least fifty of them.

It was too still for a moment. Then all hell broke loose. The monkeys surged forward all at once. The team tried to work forward to get to the beach when out of nowhere, a figure ran in-front of Katniss and the line of monkeys, drawing the focus from Katniss to the stranger. The person pushed Katniss further back, closer towards the beach, urging her to move quickly away. The monkeys rushed forwards and ripped into the body of Katniss' savior.

Haymitch grabbed onto Katniss' arm and ran forward to the beach, Finnick right behind them, holding the monkeys off.

After they broke the tree line and stumbled on the beach, they all turned to see the monkeys stop at the tree line, stomping their feet and banging their fists on the ground. Slowly they turned and walked back into the woods one by one.

Finnick was away looking for food, giving Katniss a few minutes alone with her mentor. They sat on the beach looking out to the water.

After a moment of silence passed between them, Haymitch pulled out a golden locket from under his suit, unfolding the locket, revealing three pictures. One was of Gale, one of her mother and one of Prim. All of them were smiling. That was a rare sight for all of them after everything that had happened. "Remember who the real enemy is. Do this for them. Be strong for them. Remember who we are really fighting." Katniss looked at the pictures of the people she loved smiling, giving a small smile of her own. She hadn't seen any of them truly smile for a while with all that had been going on in their district.

Haymitch smiled a rare smile at her, his caring smile. He didn't care for anyone or anything until he met Effie two years before Katniss volunteered in place of sister for her first games. Haymitch just didn't care before he met her, but now he had a new reason to care. All of his family was killed because he wouldn't do as the Capital wanted him to, leaving him alone and bitter, turning to alcohol to take the pain away for years. Then he met Effie and had less of a reason to drink and forget and more of a reason to be sober and aware.

Katniss was glad that she was one of the only people that Haymitch actually liked and cared for.

She smiled at him and put the necklace on, she gave it a small rub before tucking it under her suit for safe keeping.

After a few moments of comfortable silence Katniss spoke up.

"Haymitch, promise me that you will try to get Johanna out alive." Haymitch didn't need to ask the reason why. He already knew. He pursed his lips and nodded. He would do what he could for her.

They heard the sounds of branches snapping and feet stomping coming from the woods, a few feet from them. Three people burst out, covered head to toe in some kind of dark liquid. Finnick knew who one of them was though, and yelled out.

"Johanna! Johanna!" Finnick got up and ran to them. Katniss' head shot up. Johanna?

Haymitch and Katniss quickly followed him. It was, in fact, Johanna with Wiress and Beetee right behind her. The new arrivals were gasping for breath, chests heaving. As Katniss got closer she realized that the dark liquid Johanna was covered in was blood. Katniss' heart stopped at the thought of what injury could cover her so thoroughly in blood. Katniss looked Johanna over and couldn't see any sign of injury, though it was hard to see past all the blood, she realized that it wasn't from Johanna. Katniss didn't really care where it came from as long as Johanna was alright.

Johanna had enough with the nerds. She had to do all the work for shelter and food. Volts was good for the water though so Johanna didn't end up strangling him. Nuts was testing her already thin patience though. She was pulling all the weight and she was getting sick of it. She had led them far into the woods, where it should be safe. Well, safe from everyone but her.

It was a few hours later. Johanna was looking for some food for them when it started raining, making her sour mood even worse. Only this rain felt different. It was hot, and way too thick to be water. Some liquid fell onto her hand and she looked at it. It wasn't water. It was blood. Johanna ran back to Nuts and Volts. Grabbing them by the hands, she led them out of the woods, stumbling, blind as the blood rain got thicker and came down harder and got into their eyes. They ran as fast as they could without seeing anything.

After what seemed like hours, they broke through the tree line and hit the beach, finally able to breath.

Katniss felt a rush of relief when she saw that Johanna was here, in front of her, alive, and seemingly whole. She wasn't missing any body parts and didn't seem injured in any way. Katniss was glad that Johanna was here with her. Katniss could and would keep her safe now. She had no plans to let her out of her sight.

Johanna took out some of her aggression from the past few days of babysitting the nerds by shoving Nuts out of her way to the water. She was blabbering something but Johanna didn't care enough to listen.

"Hey!" Katniss saw and ran over to where Wiress fell to the sand, shoving Johanna away, and helped her up.

"Hey! I got them out for you!" Johanna yelled, frustrated.

Katniss was confused. What was she talking about? "For me? What does that mean?"

Johanna yelled out in frustration. "You wanted them as allies so here you go!"

Katniss leaned forward, before she could talk herself out of it, and kissed Joannah.

Katniss pulled away slowly, pulling the hand she didn't know she had placed on Johanna's jaw away, still a little weary of what just happened. Johanna was just in shock that someone kissed her so she was still frozen to her spot with her eyes drawn wide.

Then the smile came over her face. A rare, real, smile that was seldom seen. Katniss saw the smile and felt a surge of pride flow in her, proud that she was the one to put a real smile on her chosen. They were frozen, smiling at each other, until Johanna remembered that they were being watched and snapped out of it, putting a scowl on her face. Katniss was confused until Johanna mouthed, 'cameras' to her and then she understood, giving a small nod.

Finnick, coming from the fishing district, knew how to catch fish with a spear, went into the water and caught them some fish for dinner.

Johanna dug in the sand with one hand and used the ax to dig a hole with the other. She had to keep her hands busy or she was going to go stir crazy. With her right hand she shifted the sand as she dug a small hole, throwing the shells and small pebbles into the shallow water a few feet from her when she felt another pebble. Pulling it out, she was about to throw it when she caught a glimpse at it and paused. It was small, no bigger than a pearl, and it was a light brown color, almost the exact same shade as her eyes but what made it special was the fact that it was in the shape a heart.

Johanna thought that Katniss may like it so she held it out in her sand covered fingers and shyly muttered.

"This is for you, I guess." Johanna wouldn't look the other girl in the eye, feeling strangely vulnerable for reasons she didn't quite know.

"You guess?" Katniss, feeling playful, teased as she took the pebble from the other girls out stretched hand, looking it over and brushing the sand and muck off to get a better look.

"Is this a metaphor for your heart being as hard as stone?"

Johanna's lips pulled into a frown, feeling stupid. Why was this so hard? She nodded. Katniss smiled an encouraging grin at her. Her soulmate had given her a gift and was so sweet and shy about it.

"Thank you."

Johanna's frown slowly went away and morphed into a small smile. Maybe this wasn't too hard after all. Katniss clutched the pebble in her palm, determined not to lose it. It was the first thing that Johanna had given to her, well, other than that strip tease in the elevator but Katniss wasn't sure about counting that. Who knew that Johanna, the badass from district seven, was so sweet? Katniss couldn't wipe the stupid smile off her face for a few minutes. If Johanna noticed (she did) she didn't say anything about it.

Later that afternoon, Beetee gathered them around and told them of his plan to lure out the last two tributes, Brutus and Enobaria, to the sand and electrocute them with his wire coil wrapped around the lightning tree and then run the other end of the coil to the beach to fry the other tributes, to get them out of the way and to finish the game faster.

Katniss sat with Johanna on the beach, wanting a quiet moment with her before all hell broke loose. They held hands as they watched the sun set on the water. A nice couples moment if it wasn't for the fact that they was just waiting on the sun to go down so they could kill people. Katniss spoke softly.

"I won't kill you after this alliance is over. I won't. I can't. I care about you too much."

Johanna was surprised. She didn't think that Katniss cared that much about her after only knowing her for a few days, even more surprising was that she hadn't really been nice the whole time she had known Katniss, but she still cared. She didn't even know the plan, so this was real to her. She really meant it. She didn't know what to say so she squeezed Katniss' hand, words failing her so actions would have to do, intertwining their fingers tighter. 'I wonder if she has any idea of what she does to me?' she thought.

The group went to the cornucopia to get more supplies, with their backs turned, talking to one another. Without warning, the other tributes had ambushed them.

They took hold of Wiress and one of them stabbed her. She fell in the water, already dead, as the cannon went off and the others got closer to the group, rushing forward. Swords clashed, arrows whizzed by, and bodies splashed in the water. Johanna pushed Katniss behind her when Cashmere came forward with a short sword, swinging it at their faces, and started attacking her with the axe she always had strapped to her side, forcing the other girl back, and away from her soulmate.

After a second, Katniss snapped out of her daze and dropped on one knee to grab her bow and arrows that were resting next to her feet. At the same moment, the whole structure they were stood on started to spin causing all of the tributes to fall and, for some, roll all the way into the water.

Katniss fell down and started to roll towards the churning water. Johanna jumped into action and grabbed her hand, trying to keep her out of the water. Johanna grabbing onto anything she could, trying to keep both of them safe.

Her muscles flexing, straining under sudden pressure.

Her fingers digging into the rocks, her fingers and palm getting cut by the rocks.

Her fingernails being torn off by how hard she was digging in but she didn't care.

She would do anything to keep Katniss out of the water and stop her from drowning.

Katniss started to slip out of Johanna's grip. Johanna was desperate to keep her grip on Katniss, she was afraid of what would happen if she slipped so she dug her free hand, the one clasping onto Katniss, harder into the others palm, drawing blood but not caring. She would care once Katniss was safe.

Katniss smacked her free hand down on the rocks, trying to get a hold on something but it was covered in water so she kept slipping. There were supplies falling at them, almost hitting them, making them move over. Finnick, Haymitch and Beetee were lying down on the rocks closer to the center. Katniss was slipping closer to the edge.

"NO!" Johanna screamed in horror as Katniss started to get closer and closer to the water. Johanna held onto her as hard as she possibly could, using all of her strength. The spinning was getting to the both of them. Katniss slipped out of the older girl's grip and crashed in the water.

Katniss was tumbling down underwater, end over end. She couldn't see or breathe. She didn't know which way was up or how to get out of there as she was thrown around too much to know which way to go. She felt two strong hands grab under her arms and pull her up and onto the rocks.

It was Johanna. She had been watching the water for a sign of Katniss so when she saw part of her bobble to the surface she went into action. Katniss was pulled higher on the rocks as she coughed up water. Johanna patted her on the back trying to help. Haymitch ran over.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

Katniss looked up and gave a weak thumbs up. She would live. Johanna still was patting her back but now had a hand on Katniss arm. Johanna was afraid of what would happen if she let go again.

Everyone was slightly in shock of what happened, so they sat on the beach for a little bit, trying to process what just happened.

After an undetermined amount of time had passed the sounds of a girl screaming and yelling for Finnick filled the air. Finnick knew the voice belonged to his soulmate, Annie. Without thinking, he ran towards the screams, his heart pounding and w
ild thoughts running through his head of what was being done to his soulmate to draw out those kinds of screams and cries. Haymitch took off after him trying to make him stop when he heard Effie's voice scream out in pain, all his rational thoughts disappeared as he stopped running to get to Finnick and instead to get to his soulmate. He started calling for her as he ran. The rest of the group ran after them trying to stop them.

Finnick and Haymitch reached a small clearing and saw nothing but a few birds flying around. Their worry only increased when they couldn't find their women in the small clearing when they clearly heard the cries coming from that exact spot.

They couldn't find them, only then realizing that it was the birds making all the noise so they returned to their rational minds and turned to go back to camp when they hit a force-field. They were trapped, listing the screams of the women they love, manipulated into a horrifying jabberjay's song. The screams filling their heads with worry and confusion, the noise making it impossible to think. Panic overcoming them, pushing them to the brink of insanity,. It had only been minutes but it felt unending.

As the time wore on, the more that the screams and pleas for mercy grew louder, getting to them. They lost their grip on reality as the only thing they could hear was manipulated screams for help. They fell to the ground clutching their ears, trying to stop the noise but it kept creeping in, torturing them, getting louder and louder, and harder to ignore. Nothing they did made it stop or quiet it down. They even tried to pack mud in their ears to muffle the sounds but it just seemed to spur the birds on, creating new cries and amplifying the volume.

Finally the hour was over and when the force-field went away Katniss rushed over to Haymitch, helping him up. Johanna held a hand out to Finnick to grab. They led them to the beach again. Both men remained expressionless the entire walk back only responding after Johanna had handed them some water and they had calmed down a little.

Katniss leaned in and asked Johanna quietly. "Why are they just staring out at nothing? The hour is over and now they know that it's not real."

Johanna smiled a small, pitying smile. "Jabberjays copy what they've heard." Katniss remained silent.

Later that night, and after a while of walking they got to the lightning tree and they all started helping wrap the tree in the coil. Then it was time to pick two people to go and put the coil in the sand. Finally it was chosen that Haymitch and Finnick would guard Beetee and Johanna and Katniss would go to the beach.

Katniss was looking for the other tributes and Johanna was listening for them when the coil went rigid and then fell to the ground limp. Brutus and Enobaria ran out of the woods, but didn't see them right away.

Johanna knew what she must do. She knocked Katniss on the side of the head, knocking her to the ground, wincing at the cracking sound she made as she hit her. She quickly knelt over her body as she stuck her hand over her mouth.

Whispering, "Be quiet."

Silencing her screams as she cut into Katniss arm and stuck her fingers in the wound, digging around a bit. She pulled the tracker out of Katniss' arm. It hurt Johanna to hurt Katniss but this had to be done.

Johanna whispered, "Stay down." Giving her a kiss on the cheek, as it may be her last chance to do so.

She got up quickly and through a rock at the careers, making them chase her. Johanna ran into the woods making as much sound as she could. She would do whatever it took to make sure that Katniss was safe, even if it meant she was leading some careers around the woods to make sure that they didn't find Katniss she would do it. Hell, she just did. She was stupid for this girl. But she would do anything for her.

Haymitch had pulled her aside and told her about the plan to save Katniss and she was even more resilient than the others to keep her safe than the others. She was serious about protecting Katniss, about protecting her soulmate, her chosen, her forever.

Katniss was in shock for a few minutes after Johanna took off with the careers hot on her trail. She heard Finnick yelling her name as he ran by. She never answered him so he ran back into the woods. Katniss got up, unsteady on her feet, she stumbled all the way back to the lightning tree trying to find someone on her team to help her. She was woozy and incoherent. She saw Beetee lying unconscious next to the tree with the coil still in his hand. Seeing that he had wrapped a generous amount around the tree. Maybe he was going to use to to break down the forcefield. Katniss grabbed it and wrapped it around an arrow. She held it, waiting for the lightning to start, for the perfect moment. She heard someone crashing through the woods and saw Finnick again. He looked panicked when he saw where she was standing.

"Katniss get away from that tree!"

Katniss didn't listen to him. She saw the lightning storm start and held onto the arrow for a few seconds, Finnick pleading at her to get away from the tree, when she let the arrow go. Watching it fly, it hit the dome of the arena. With the coil next to her, Katniss got hit by the lightning and fell to the ground. The shock paralyzed her. She couldn't hear or see anything or feel any pain. She was numb. She didn't know what happened to Finnick. She was trying to move when the world went black. She passed out.

When Katniss came to, she had a mask on her face that she quickly pulled off. She didn't know where she was or who took her body away from the arena, so she looked around for a weapon but all she found was a needle. She grabbed it and went to the door where she heard talking. Creeping closer to listen in, the door whooshed open, revealing Haymitch, Finnick, and

Heavensbee, the Head Gamemaker.

They all stopped talking when they saw her.

There was no Johanna in the room.

"Where is Johanna?" Katniss whole body was completely still. Haymitch walked closer to her.

"The Capitol got her." Katniss didn't what to think of what they would do to her. Her whole body went from being still to shaking with rage and then she rushed forwards. Katniss charged forward at Haymitch, hitting him, kicking him and screaming. He grabbed her around the waist, pinning her arms down. She struggled against him, trying to fight him off. Heavensbee got a syringe of something and stuck it in her neck.

"Why didn't you save her!? You promised!" Was the last thing that Katniss said before her world went black again but her last thought was of Johanna and how she couldn't save her. Of how she failed to save the one person she was supposed to protect at any cost.
