Disclaimer: I do not own the Percy Jackson Series or any of its characters, neither do I own the movie Pompeii.

Death was imminent. There was no point in denying it. Vesuvius had awakened, and with it came death- a scorching hot, mind numbing pain. Destroying everything and everyone in its path- innocent or guilty, but two had managed to escape so far. Standing alone on a hill just outside of Pompeii were two lovers- a gladiator and a noblemen's daughter. A scene witnessed by the gods that would never be forgotten.

The man stared at the woman- the only thing in his life worth living for, and even as she stood there terrified, dirty, and crying. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Vesuvius gave another groan as more fire and ashes entered the sky. A meteor emerged from the dark cloud of dust hurtling towards them and landing at the bottom of their hill with a shudder. The clouds had covered Pompeii. They had little time left, and they both knew it.

He looked at her as she looked towards the clouds. Looking for the sky, then towards the cloud of ashes, she was terrified. Tears streaked down her face as she tried to see the city that she loved- she could not. The man grabbed her, and pulled her into his strong embrace. Embers scorched their skin and dust filled their lungs, yet despite this they held onto each other.

"Percy, we're-" the woman sobbed, but Percy cut her off.

"Shhh, shhh."

So she did, she buried her head into his strong chest. Listening to his heart beat- thump, thump, thump, and after a short while Percy lifted her head up. Her head swiveled to where the darkness was advancing. A look of terror immediately replaced the calm look on her face from the comfort of his arms and the beating of his heart.

"Annabeth," he said, "Annabeth." He moved both hands, gently cupping her face with a softness that should have been lost to a gladiator such as himself. Running his fingers through her dirty blond hair he said, "Look at me" he told her this gently, as the fire came ever closer. She looked deep into his eyes, the sea green eyes that swirled like an endless whirlpool- one that you could get lost in forever. "Just me," he said. They knew it was close to the end, the curtain of darkness was almost ready to descend upon them.

So before the fire reached them, he moved his hand to the back of her head, leaned in and kissed her gently one last time. Trying to convey everything he didn't have the time to say. She melted into his arms, gently running her hands through his hair one last time. Just as they were engulfed by the storm of fire and ashes.

Even the gods mourned at the tragic ending of these two lovers- a hero and his lover, a gladiator and noble woman. And today we still remember them as the Lost Lovers of Pompeii. Entwined in a lover's embrace for the rest of eternity.

Hi there! This is my first story, so please critic all you want. I need to get better somehow. I know that it is really short, but I don't really want to start off huge. This is sort of a crossover between Percy Jackson and Pompeii, but there really is no mention of anything in the movie Pompeii, other than the city. So I put it in as a Percy Jackson instead.

Please review!
