Chapter 3- Take the pain away!

Draco yawned as he laid down on his bed. The meeting was finally over, and it was boring. All the members, besides Severus and Remus, did nothing but whine to Dumbledore about this and that instead of actually planning something to stop or fix whatever they were complaining about. Draco yawned once more and sat up on his bed so that he could look over at the door that connected his room to Harry's. After the meeting, Harry had vanished. Draco had tried to find him, but the boy was no where to be found.

"Something is worrying you?" A soft voice ask in his head, knowing that it wasn't the voice in the back of his head Draco looked to the side to see the black fox standing beside his bed. Draco motioned for the fox to jump up on to the bed, the fox did so and sat in front of Draco. "What is worrying you?" The fox asked.

"Harry." Draco said and the fox tilted his head as if silently asking for Draco to explain. "There is something going on with Harry and everyone but me seems to know. And I have a feeling that if I ask anyone they won't tell me, even if I ask Harry himself."

"I see, that is very worrying." The fox said with a mischievous glint in it's eyes. "He worries me too. 16 years old and has never had any true human friends."

"What do you mean? I thought that he was best friends with the Weasel and Granger." Draco said and the voice in the back of Draco's head snickered, Draco mentally glared at the voice.

It is obvious to anyone with a brain that the Weasel is not truly Harry's friend. And Granger, well, you'll see. The voice said.

"And I thought you were supposed to be smart and observant." The fox said with a smirk, "Or that is what it seemed when the Young Master spoke of you to me."

"He spoke of me to you?" Draco asked feeling a wave pleasure and satisfaction flow through him at the thought that his loved one talked about him to others, even if that other being was a magical fox.

And you tell me I'm cocky. The voice said with a deep laugh, all Draco did was mentally smirk at the voice.

"Oh yes," The fox sung as he began to slowly circle Draco, "The Young Master tells me about everyone he meets and everything that happens to him. He's told me about you, the Werewolf Remus Lupin, the Potion Master Severus Snape, all of the Weaselys, and Hermione Granger. He has told me about everyone. But I must admit that the one he talks about the most is you, Young Dragon.

"Me?" Draco asked.

And why not me? The voice asked with a soft whine.

'Because he doesn't know anything about you.' Draco thought, careful to keep it to the back of his mind encase the fox was able to read his mind.

Well, we'll have to change that very soon. Can't very well have our mate not knowing about me, now can we? Draco mentally rolled his eyes before focusing back on the fox.

"You doubt me, Young Dragon?" The fox asked tilting his head to the side.

"There is no reason to doubt you." Draco said and watched as the fox looked deep into his eyes, as if looking for something. When the fox seemed to find what ever he was looking for, it began to clean his fur. Once the fox was done cleaning itself, the fox gave one last look at Draco and got up.

Don't let him leave, not yet. I'm not through with him. The voice said.

"Wait." Draco called out and the fox stopped and turned to look at Draco.

"You have something to asked me, Young Dragon?" The fox asked.

'Is there anything you wish me to ask?' Draco thought and the voice paced around in his cage in thought.

The most important question that I want answered right now is how those two stumbled upon each other. The voice said and Draco mentally nodded.

"How is it that you and Harry met?" Draco asked and the fox looked shocked for a moment before turned fully around to at Draco.

"You wish to know how I came upon the Young Master?" The fox asked slowly as if making sure he had heard Draco right.

Interesting. The voice thought.

"That is what I asked, but if it is something that you cannot, or do not wish to tell me, you do not have to." Draco said.

"It is better if I showed you, rather than tell you." The fox said.

Open the door, and let our interesting friend in. I wish to see what he has to show us. The voice said and Draco dropped the shields on his mind enough to let the fox enter his mind. Draco closed his eyes at the feeling of having the fox in his mind.

The sound of class shattering had Draco's eyes snap open and found himself in a small but well kept kitchen. In front of him was a small six year old boy with unruly raven black hair and scared emerald green eyes hidden behind thick rimmed glasses. It didn't take Draco very long to realize that this boy was a young Harry Potter. He knew that even without looking at Harry's scar, it was the eyes that gave the boy away.

Well, well, just as I suspected. Our mate was the most adorable child ever. The voice said from beside Draco. Draco looked over and saw a Young man that looked just like him, only his hears were pointed and seemed more scale like than skin, the same with the skin on his neck. A dragon tail lazily swayed behind him.

"Yes, that was an obvious." Draco said "By the way, why are you out of your cage?"

You are seriously not going to make sit in my cage and miss this chance? The young man demanded, his silver eyes narrowing in annoyance. Draco sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Fine, but once this is over, it's back to the cage. No need to let everyone here know the true reason Voldemort is after me." Draco said before turning back to the scene that had to politely stopped to let him and his inner self talk. The second that Draco's attention went back to the scene, a purple faced whale whit no neck and a mustache came storming into the room.

"What the bloody hell are you doing?" The whale demanded and Harry flinched while he grabbed the torn piece of clothe that Draco knew was suppose to be Harry's shirt.

"I-I-I-I'm s-sorr-ry Un-cle. I-I-I di-did-didn't me-mean t-t-to." Harry stuttered as tears fell from his eyes. Draco had to bite the urge to run over to Harry and protect him. He had to remind himself that this was just a memory, that he could do nothing to change it or the out come.

The whale looked down at the broken glass plate at the boy's cut up, dirty, and bare feet with his beady, little eyes. The while glared down at the young Harry who was obviously scared with the way that his little body was shivering. The whale lifted his fat hand and slapped the young Harry causing him to cry out in pain as he fell to the ground from the impact of the slap.

Without realizing it, Draco had taken a step towards Harry before he could stop himself. "You can not stop it." The fox said from behind him. Draco and his inner self turned to see a person cloaked in a long black cloak sitting on the little dinning room table with their legs crossed. The cloaks hood was covering the persons face, but Draco was able to see the persons angry, emerald green eyes that looked so much like Harry's.

'It couldn't be. Could it?' Draco thought and his inner self laughed, giving Draco all the answers he needed.

"AH!" Harry screamed in pain, bringing Draco and his inner self back to the scene, the whale had taken off his belt and had begun to use it as a whip with the buckle side hitting the young boy's skin leaving deep gashes every time it struck him.

If I ever see this human, I will make this pay. Draco's inner self growled out and Draco nodded.

"Shut up you little freak!" That earned a growl from Draco, his inner self, and the fox, "How dare you brake one of your Aunt's plates after we took you in, fed you, and clothed you. You should have died along side your parents! This world would have been a much better place without you!" The whale spat out as he continued to whip the boy. Soon, young Harry was lying in a puddle of his own blood, the whale stopped whipping Harry and kicked him before putting the belt back on. "Now, look at what you've done." The whale said sneering down at the young Harry, "Get up and clean this mess that you've made in your Aunt's nice clean kitchen."

"Y-y-ye-es Un-cle." Harry whispered as he shakily got up and began to slowly began to glean up the puddle of his blood. Every few minutes the whale would kick him while wearing a sadistic smile.

"Well, that explains why Harry was never feared You-Know-Who, this whale of a man is so much worse than he could ever hope to be." Draco muttered glaring at the whale.

"Fear of the name is fear of the person, one of the few correct things that Granger has ever said. Now, if she would only see that Dumbledore is not a great as all those books she love says, then I could possible help her to realize her own potential." The fox muttered watching Draco and his inner self from the corner of his eye. "You are not weak, you are one of the strongest people I know, just like the Young Master. And just like the Young Master, you should say his name." The fox said before looking back at the whale of a man. "That whale of a person is the Young Master's Uncle, his name is Vernon Dursley. Come, they are moving."

The small group followed Vernon as he drug young Harry by his hair and into the hallway. Draco and his inner self watching with curious and angry eyes as Vernon opened a small cupboard under the stairs and threw the young Harry in it.

"What is he doing?" Draco asked as he watched as Vernon loved the cupboard.

Obviously he is locking young Harry in the cupboard. Draco's inner self said. Draco slowly turned his head and glared at his inner self who just smiled innocently at Draco. Draco rolled his eyes and shook his head as he looked over at the fox waiting for and answer.

"That was the Young Master's room for the first 11 years of his life. He was only allowed to have his cousin's second room when his Hogwart letters started coming. When Hagrid came to get him on his 11th birthday was the very first time that he was told that he was a wizard, the first 11 years of his life, Harry was ignorant of the Wizarding World. Heck, until he started muggle school at 4 years old he did not know what his name way. He believed that his name was 'Boy'." The fox said with a growl. "Come." The fox said stepping through the door to see Harry curled up on a little cot as his blood soaked the tattered piece of cloth that was his blanket, his magic was slowly starting to heal the gashes.

"You will stay in there all night and will not be allowed to leave for any reason. You can take this time to thank about what you have done. You will not be allowed food for two weeks you little freak." They heard Vernon say through the door.

It hearts Draco heard Harry's voice, though he knew that Harry had not actually said anything.

"These were his thoughts every day of his life." The fox muttered sadly.

Why do they hate me so? What have I done wrong? Harry began to silently cry. Mummy, daddy, why would you have to leave me alone with these people?

"Harry." Draco whispered, wished so hard that he could pull the poor, beaten boy to him and tell him that everything would be okay, that he was there to protect him. Suddenly Harry began to cough up some blood.

It hurts so much. Please, someone, anyone, make the pain stop. Take the pain away, make it go away! MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY! Suddenly the cupboard was covered in darkness. Draco fought the urge to shiver when the cold, empty feeling of the darkness swept over him. Draco noticed the fox slowly walking out of the darkness and over to the young Harry, Draco turned his head to see the fox was still standing behind him and realized what was going on.

"Wh-who ar-re yo-ou?" Harry whispered as the fox sat down beside Harry and gently moved Harry's head so that it was resting on his lap. The fox began to gently stoke Harry's hair.

"I am known by many names, Young One, none of these names shall ever pass your pure lips." The fox told Harry softly.

"Th-en wh-what sho-should I-I ca-all yo-ou?" Harry asked.

"What ever you wish to call me, Young One." The fox said.

"A-ar-re yo-you a-an a-an-ang-el? H-ha-have yo-ou co-co-com-me he-ere to-to ta-tak-ke th-he pa-pain aw-wa-ay?" Harry asked after a moment or two of silence.

"I am no angel, Young One. I am no where close to being an angel. But I will take the physical pain that you have. All though, I can never take the spiritual or emotional pain you have. Though there will come a time that you meet someone who can take your spiritual and emotional pain away." The fox said.

"Wi-will yo-ou lea-leave af-ter yo-ou ta-tak-ke th-he pa-pain aw-wa-ay?" Harry asked.

"Not unless you wish me to." The fox said.

"Pl-please st-stay." Harry whispered. "Yo-ou ar-are the f-f-first p-p-person t-o ev-ev-ever b-b-be ni-ice t-o m-m-me." The fox looked away into the darkness for a second as if thinking over something before looking back at Harry and pulled out a stuffed black fox with bright green eyes and a silver collar on.

"Keep this with you and when ever you need me, squeeze it and I will be there to protect you. If you ever need an ear to listen to you, whisper into it's ear and I will hear every whispered word you tell it." The young Harry smiled a hear warming smile as he took the stuffed animal.

"I kn-ow wh-what I a-m go-oing to-to ca-all yo-ou." Harry said.

"And what is that, Young One." The fox asked.

"My Friend." Harry whispered. Draco couldn't help the smile that found it's way onto his face at the adorable picture that Harry made holding the stuffed fox before he blinked and found himself back in his room at the Black Manor.

"The Young Master did whisper in my ear every night. And I noticed something that no one else seemed to notice, not even the Young Master." The fox said.

"And what was it that you noticed?" Draco asked.

"That, beside the constant beating from his relatives, you were the only thing that was constant in his life." The fox said causing Draco to smirk. He liked the sound of that, and he planned to continue being a constant in Harry's life, only this time it would be in the form of a friend instead of a rival.
