Petunia walked up to the sorting hat after her sister.

She sat down, smiling widely. Sending that letter to Headmaster Dumbledore had been the best decision she had ever made. Who knew that the records would have somehow missed her from the lists of witches and wizards?

To think - if she hadn't sent the letter, she'd be going to a normal school like everyone else. She didn't even mind that she had to start in the same year as her younger sister. She was here at Hogwarts, and that's all that mattered.

Her last glance before the hat obstructed her view, was off her sister who was taking a seat at the red table.

The hat was placed on her head and she listened carefully as it spoke to her.

Petunia didn't know much about the houses as the hat firmly declared that she wasn't suitable for Hufflepuff. It spoke of loyalty, and Petunia felt offended. She considered herself very loyal. Gryffindor was ruled out next, and the hat took a moment between the last two houses before it makes it's choice.

"Ravenclaw," it announced, and the hat was slipped off her head. She smiled widely at her sister, Lily, who looked slightly disappointed before heading over to the table with the blue banners.

She listened carefully to the elder students who were explaining the house to her.

"The smart house," she mumbled to herself. Yes, this would do nicely.
