"I may now kiss the bride!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Mabel awoke with a start, shivering and shaking. It was just a dream... Just a dream... Just yesterday she and her brother had defeated an army of gnomes after they tried to make her their gnome queen. If they were at home, Mabel would have gone to Dipper for comfort, but not here. What if there was some kind of monster under her bed? What if the gnomes were waiting to grab her?
"Dipper?" She whispered.
Her brother continued to sleep.
"Dipper?" Mabel repeated.
A snore in response
"Dipper!"
Mabel tried throwing a stuffed animal at him. It hit her brother in the head, but he did not awaken. Mabel gathered all the remaining stuffies she had. Monsters wouldn't hurt her as long as she had tons of stuffed animals. Mabel did the only thing she could think to do.
"Meow."
...
"Meow."
...
"Meow."
...
Bill was surprised to say the least, as the Pines girl actually started to "meow" herself back to sleep. She was a strange one, that was for certain. He found himself somehow unsurprised that the twins were going to be a thorn in is perpendicular bisector, yet taken off guard as well. The gnomes weren't that bad for a first encounter with the supernatural. A little dumb, but not all that bad...
"Meow."
He wondered if it was simply luck on their parts.
"Meow."
Maybe it was inherited skill.
"Meow."
Probably a mixture come to think of it.
"Meow."
But at this rate, the girl was probably too scared of the supernatural to want to purposely make another encounter. Her brother would be willing to after a day or so, recharge the batteries and such, but that just meant that the summer was going to drag on. Things needed to move more quickly than that though. No more waiting, he was done waiting.
"Meow."
The other kid was having nightmares too. He was afraid of loosing his sister to something supernatural. He was internally debating whether or not he should put back the journal. That didn't matter though. If he did, it would not last long. He was too curious, stuck his nose where he shouldn't have been looking.
"Meow."
Then it was settled. The twins were too valuable to loose. He needed to wait, and watch. See what they could amount to first. He was pretty good at watching. A month or two was barely the blink of an eye for him. Hehe, eye... He'd have to remember that joke next time he was able to speak to someone...
"Meow."
He would watch over them. Save their unexperienced butts if needed. Knowing those kids, there would be the occasional moment where a split second would be a deciding factor on whether they lived or died. He'd be a guardian angle of sorts...
"Meow."
Man, he had no idea how insane he was up until that terrible joke. Oh well, it wasn't like he cared.
"Meow."
With a dramatic wave of his hands, the girl fell back to sleep, and the boy was no longer plagued with night terrors. Unless they did something to annoy him, he'd make sure to keep the bad dreams away. Too many nightmares would mean a call home. A call home would mean leaving Gravity Falls.
Mabel gave a yawn, quietly muttering to herself;
"Meow..."
Stupid kids. If he didn't know better, he was getting soft. But he wouldn't let them get in his way for the long run. No one would be able to stop him. After all, this summer had only just begun.
