Ch5. Intentions II

I didn't bat an eyelash at the fact that I awoke to a body next to my own with an arm wrapped around my waist possessively.

I turned my lips twitching into a smile when I saw Elijah sleeping soundly next to me.

I eased my scantily clad body from his grip roaming over to my walk in closest to choose my wardrobe for today.

"Sneaking out are you?" I heard from behind me as I finished stuffing my feet into thigh high nude boots.

I turned my waist length ponytail fanning around me as I stared at Elijah in his silk boxer shorts and bare chest and messy hair. "What would make you think that I am sneaking out of my own house?"

"You didn't say anything…" He said..

"What did you want me to say? It's not like I'm not used to or have ever resisted you or your or siblings from entering into my bed at any time of day." I said raising my eyebrow at him.

"Where are you going?" He asked instead.

"To the school…why?" I asked as I shoved my car keys into my skin tight black jeans and pulled my nude trench over my white v neck t shirt before turning to look up at him.

"I'm going on a bit of an expedition in a few hours." He said with a sleepy yawn as he rubbed his eyes looking positively adorable.

Most wouldn't know it, but Elijah was not a morning person, it was a trait that he shared with Kol…and Henrik.

"Oh? Let me guess for your novel right?" I said with a chuckle quoting the word novel with my fingers before walking out of my room and into the kitchen.

"Yes…" He said with a smirk.

"And who is going to be telling you about this town's historical events? Alaric; the neighborhood vampire slayer?" I asked walking back into my bed room with a cup of his favorite tea. His eyes seemed to focus a bit more at the sight of the hot beverage.

"Actually no, it is his very defenseless human girlfriend Ms. Sommers." He said reaching out and grabbing the tea as I offered it to him. I smiled as he sipped it with a blissful sigh.

"Interesting, didn't know she was a history buff." I said checking myself out in my body length mirror.

Elijah smiled. "What? Something the all-knowing Lilith didn't know, color me amazed."

I rolled my eyes. "She's just a pawn in this game, she not a major player." I paused "But I suppose I shouldn't count her out after all..."

"And what pray tell do you mean by that? I hope your not planning to kill her, she seems ignorant, I don't believe they've told her about the supernatural."

"And that's what makes her a perfect target. Albeit easily disposable she is, if she evolves to a greater piece, she will live a bit longer…either way it's a win-win for my purposes." I said with a shrug.

"Would you like to accompany me?" Elijah asked after a moment of thought.

"What? You can't handle one human girl?" I teased playfully.

"No, I just rather enjoy your company." He teased back now fully awake.

"Look at you being all sappy in the morning…" I said with a chuckle before I shrugged. "But sure darling, why not."

"Very well, I shall call upon you within the hour."

"Till then." I said walking pasted him placing a chaste kiss on his lips before walking out of my home.

"The old fell property actually starts just along that fence." Jenna said pointing towards a fence that I didn't bother to look at.

I was beginning to regret coming along. It was dreadfully boring and I was seconds away from killing myself self just for kicks.

"Ah the Fells…one of the founding families…" Elijah said with a chuckle and as he rolled his eyes at the thought, I snickered.

"Why do you say it like that?" Jenna asked looking between us.

"My research showed me that this area was actually settled almost two full centuries earlier. It was a migration of townsmen from the northeast, Salem to be precise." Elijah said matter of factly.

"Massachusetts-as in the witch trails?" Jenna asked with wide eyes.

"Yes." Elijah said curtly.

"Which means the ever loved founding families didn't actually found anything." I said causing Elijah to nod with a smile as Jenna laughed.

"Well I bet it was the men who made a big deal out of being Founders back in 1860. Men are territorial." Jenna said looking towards me with a wink.

"On that I can agree." I mused glancing at Elijah as he smirked.

"Yes they are…" Elijah mused and I turned to see Alaric walking over towards our little group with a little more pep in his step than usual.

"Elijah this is my friend Alaric Saltzman. Lilith I'm sure you seen him around the school?" Jenna said introducing us.

"Naturally." I said with a nod towards Alaric who smiled back.

"Yeah, I got your message about walking Elijah and Lilith here to the old property lines. I thought I would tag along; you know being a history buff and all." Alaric said not taking his eyes off of Elijah.

I chuckled drawing his eyes. "Well I'm sure there's room for one more, right?"

Elijah looked at me. "Of course."

"Where to next?" Alaric asked immediately walking next to Jenna.

"I'm pretty curious about the freed slave's property owners. Some say you know the descendants of the slaves are the true keeps of American history." Elijah said casually.

I raised my eyebrow knowing it was more than that behind his interest, but didn't voice it.

"I only brought the surveys, I got that list in the car just give me a second." Jenna said to us before walking towards her car.

"Here Jenna, let me give you a hand." I said following her to her car leaving the boys alone.

"Alaric Saltzman, your one of those people on Elena's list of loved ones to protect…" I heard Elijah said taunting the poor human.

"Yeah, and so is Jenna." Alaric hissed out.

"You don't have to be jealous; I don't really pursue younger women." Elijah said with a snicker.

"Yet you seem to be pursuing Ms. De Ville just fine." Alaric accused coolly.

Elijah's voice held amusement as he said. "You surprise me with your concern for a woman you don't even know. However I wouldn't worry about Ms. De Ville she's the type of women that even I would make an exception for...wouldn't she look lovely with a nice pair of fangs?."

At Ric's silence Elijah scoffed. "It was a joke Ric lighten up."

"Right." Alaric said letting out a breath.

"-dating?" I blinked my eyes at Jenna, realizing that she was in fact speaking to me.

"I beg your pardon." I asked.

"I asked if you and Elijah were dating." She repeated with a smile.

"Oh no not at all, i just meet him the other day. Why would you ask such a thing?" I asked with a frown.

"Oh…" Jenna flushed with embarrassment. "It's just…you guys seem close, that's all. You complement each other very well."

"The small town english teacher and the traveling historical writer?" I said thoughtfully.

Jenna flushed even more. "Well when you say it like that…"

I laughed. "So what of you and Mr. Saltzman?"

"Ric?" She said nervously.

"Yes, you two are dating right?" I asked shooting her a knowing look.

She flushed in response.

"I'll take that as I yes." I said lightly bumping her shoulder with my own. "You compliment him quite nicely if you don't mind me saying."

She flushed again causing me to chuckle.

Alaric left after an hour and we finished our historical lesson thirty minutes after that, Jenna talking Elijah into coming to the grill and he agreed only if I would accompany him, I agreed.

We were walking into the grill, I was forcing myself to laugh at Jenna's words when I heard them.

"Ohh there's Jenna with her new boyfriend." Damon chuckled.

"And Elijah with his new girlfriend, Lilith." Alaric countered back.

I smiled when I heard Damon growl at him. I smiled at Damon and he smiled back waving us over. "Hey!"

Jenna rushed over all smiles as Elijah and I took our time walking over.

"So I hear you three had quite the meeting of historical minds today." Damon said.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that." Jenna chirped.

"Well as much as I'd like to continue this, I have papers to grade." Alaric sighed.

My eyes widened. "Ah, as do I. I should probably head on out-"

"You know we should continue this, how about a dinner party?" The girl in Damon's arm said suddenly.

"Oh, my girl full of bright ideas." Damon said seemly shocked. "I'll be happy to host, say tonight?"

"It's good for me. Jenna?" The woman said looking at the strawberry blonde.

"Ah actually I really can't-" Alaric started to say when Jenna cut him off. "Yeah tonight I'm free."

"I do not mind attending…as long as I can have the lovely Ms. De Ville as my date." Elijah said seeing as I tried to walk away.

I felt all eyes on me as I leveled him with a look.

A minute of silence passed before I answered him. "Sure Mr. Smith, why not." I said pulling out a piece of paper to write on before giving it to him. "This is my address."

"I'll see you at 8." He said grabbing my hand and placing a kiss on it.

"Till 8." I said shooting him another look before smiling at the humans and vampires and walking out of the grill.

~There's a (Slight) Chance I May Be Going To Hell~

"I've always loved that color on you." Elijah said as I finished pulling on my strappy black heels and smoothed out my off the shoulder long sleeve baby blue dress.

"You'll love what I have under it even better." I purred to him making his eyes ignite with lust before he pulled away.

"Why must you always tempt me?" He asked with a sigh.

I laughed. "Because muffin, it's my very nature however; I think it is you who tempts me the most."

I raked my eyes over him, he looked positively sinful in his signature suit, but then again all of his brothers did. I licked my lips feeling my hunger surface. "Can you not see I'm on the edge of losing control."

He peered down at me with a frown taking a good look. "When was the last time you fed?"

"When I was with Nic." I said with a sigh. "So…a while ago…"

"You need to eat..." He said giving me the same look a parent does a child that eats desserts before supper.

"I know." I said turning away to stare at my reflection in the mirror.

I pinned ruby studs in my ears to match my red eyeliner before I turned towards Elijah. "I'm ready."

He looked down at his watch before tossing me a smile. "Shall we go then..."

We sat inside of his car just outside of the Salvatore boarding house. I arched my eyebrow at him from the passenger side when he reached over stopping me from exiting. "Are we not going inside?"

"I want to know your plans before we enter." Elijah said seriously.

I rolled my eyes. "We're doing this again, are we? And here I was hoping you would just want to get a little frisky before we entered but alas all you want to do is interrogate me...love interrogation isn't fun without the torture."

"Lilith-" Elijah started but I cut him off.

"Just ask me what you really want to know Elijah. Ask me if I'll help you take down Nic." I said with a sigh and I felt him tense.

"Will you?" He asked and I waited a moment before answering.

"No." I said matter of factly.

"After everything he's done, you're still on his side? How devoted a wife you are…" He bit out bitterly.

"Do not be ridiculous, Nic and I have yet to renew our vowels, as I'm still Kol's and we both know where he's at so stop your pouting." I said getting out of his car and walking towards the door.

"Besides the only person's side I'm eternally devoted to is Henrik. I will not help you Elijah, but I also won't get in your way, feel free to take your best crack at him though…" I said after flashing him a smile as my heels clicked up the stairs. I mentally counted down in my head knowing he would react to me bringing up the youngest Mikaelson's name.

Elijah grabbed my arm as I reached the front door his eyes narrowed. I resisted the urge to give him a fanged grin so predicable. "What-"

The door opened and I turned to see Damon. He smiled at me before frowning when he caught sight of Elijah's hand gripping my arm in a less than gentlemanly manner.

"Lilith so glad you could make it." Damon said his eyes narrowing on Elijah's grip.

"Happy to be invited." I said with a smile as I pulled my arm out of Elijah and walked into the house Jenna immediately rushing over to hug me and introduce me to the other human woman, Andy and ignoring how Elijah threatened to kill everyone in the house if Damon tried anything.

I sighed. Guess I had soured Elijah's good mood.

"I hate to break it to you Damon but according to Elijah your family is so not a founder to this town."

"Oh? Do tell." Damon asked sarcastically.

"Well as I mentioned to Jenna and Lilith earlier a faction of settlers migrated here from Salem after the witch trails in the 1690s over the next hundred years they developed this community were they could feel safe from persecution." Elijah said.

"Because they were witches." Jenna added wiggling her eyebrows.

"Well there's no tangible proof there were witches in Salem." Andy said with a frown.

"Andy's a journalist, she's big on facts." Damon said.

"Hmm perhaps there was no proof because, they did not leave anything to find." I said evenly causing eyes to look my way.

"However the lore says there was this wave of witch hysteria that broke out in the neighboring settlement so these witches were rounded up, they were tied to stakes in the fields together and they were all burned. Some say you could hear the screams for miles around us…as they were consumed by the fire." I said softly my eyes glimmering as I thought back to those good old days.

"Yes, I had read about that as well. Could you pass the salt?" Elijah said and I nodded passing it to him.

"I wouldn't repeat this to the historical society." Jenna said with a nervous chuckle.

"Starting to sound a little like a ghost story to me..." The man named Johnathan Gilbert said with narrowed eyes.

"So, why do you want to know the location of these alleged massacres?" Damon asked with slightly narrowed eyes.

"I don't know…healthy historian's curiosity." Elijah said with a small smile.

"Purely academic research then?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him.

Elijah looked down at me. "Of course."

I looked over at Damon to see he was staring at Elijah. "Of course…"

"Would anybody care for some cognac? I have a bottle I've been saving for ages." Damon asked standing as everyone finished eating.

"None for me thanks; nine bottles of wine is my limit." Alaric said with a smile causing me to chuckle.

"Lilith I recall you saying you loved a good glass of cognac, join us..." Elijah said looking over at me with a smile and I noticed Alaric and Damon share a look.

I smiled. "Maybe next time, I too have reached my serving of alcoholic beverages for one night. Tomorrow is a school day too, what kind of role model would I be if I showed up with a hangover?"

"Well then, the gentlemen should take their drinks to the study." Andy said after briefly at Damon none to subtly.

"I have to say the food was almost as wonderful as the company." Elijah said and I nodded.

"Yes everything was lovely." I said softly.

"I like you both." Andy said with a smile.

"You're not a gentleman make yourself useful." Jenna said shoving some bowls and plates into Johnathan Gilbert's hands making him glare at her.

I smiled. Jenna was quite the entertainment before I decided to offer my own help. "I'll help too, I'll wash."

"No no no you're a guest you couldn't-" Andy said rushing to take the plates I had picked up but I pulled them from her reach.

"I can and will, just show me where to go." I said to Andy and she relented showing me to the kitchen.

"Jesus I'm surprised you still have your hands!" Andy hissed as she snatched her now red hand back from the water. "It's boiling."

"No, not quite." I chuckled.

"But it is extremely hot." Jenna said eyeing the steam wearily.

"I love heat, besides I'm used to it washing my own dishes with this kind of heat so it's ok see..." I said pulling my hands from the water to show them that they were fine.

Jenna and Andy gasped before Andy grabbed my hand feeling it. "I'm surprised, it not covered in scabs or burn marks…"

"As I said, I'm used to it." I said before walking out of the room but pausing when I heard Alaric curse under his breath.

"Ric are you alright." I asked walking over to him.

"Yeah… yes… I'm just going to …um … inform the other guys about dessert." He said after a moment.

"Hmm…my favorite part of the meal…I suppose I should get my date." I said.

"Um yeah…" He said and I nodded and followed him as he opened the door.

My eyes darted around the room cataloging it to my memory. "Quite the collection you have, Damon. I do appreciate the classics" I said as my fingers trailed across the delicately carved woods.

"Thank you, Lilith. It's always good to meet a woman with refined taste." Damon said with a smile.

"Gentlemen. We forgot about dessert." Alaric said flashing them a smile. "Can't forget about dessert…"

I rolled my eyes at his obvious nervous behavior before holding out my hand. "Elijah…"

Elijah stared between Damon and Alaric for a moment before his eyes locked on my own. "Lilith…"

Elijah shoved his glass into Damon hand before taking my hand spinning me and pulling me flushed against him. I stared at him for a moment before chuckling, he lead the way towards the dining hall.

I shot him a meaningful look when we were out of eyesight before tilting my head toward Damon and Alaric to let him know they were up to something.

He grimaced but nodded.

"Sorry guy's dessert is taking longer than I thought I usually just unwrap food." Jenna said with embarrassment.

I chuckled along with Andy and Elijah. "Well then maybe I can lend a hand."

"Oh no I couldn't possibly, you already-" Jenna started waving her hands around before I cut her off.

"I insist," I said leaving Elijah's side and walking with Jenna into the kitchen. "Do you like chocolate?"

Jenna snickered. "Is the sky blue?"

I shook my head as I pulled out all the necessary ingredients I would need. "Alright Jenna stand back your about to see a live episode of Hell's Kitchen." I said proudly and she chuckled before sliding on one of the counters to watch me.

I was swift and efficient in my cooking but not as quickly as I could have been; as I finished the cooked product 25 minutes later holding it out to Jenna she was wide eyed with shock.

"Ta-da!" I said holding out the dessert chocolate cupcakes with strawberries inside with whipped cream and strawberries on top.

"Oh my god…they're beautiful." She said stretching out her hand before looking bashful. "Can I?" she said looking at the cupcakes.

I nodded. "But of course."

She grabbed one quickly taking a bite, her eyes widening. "This is so delicious."

I smirked. "Of course it is."

Jenna practically inhaled the cupcake. "Oh my god…those…those are dangerous."

I tossed her a smile as she moaned and took another from the tray as I walked from the kitchen with her trailing behind me. "They are sinfully delicious."

I blinked when I entered the dining room and the only people in there were Damon, Alaric, Johnathan and Andy.

I frowned slightly knowing that I needed to play my part. "Um…did Elijah step into the washroom?"

"Um no, Elijah actually left and-" Alaric said.

My frown deepened. "He left without me? He drove me here and he just leaves?"

"Yes…he didn't say if he was coming back either…I'm sorry."

I stared at Alaric for a moment before nodding my head and placing the freshly made desserts on the table before removing the cooking apron i also had been wearing. "I see. Well then I better head out."

"What? No Lilith-" Damon said but I cut him off.

"No, I...I need to get going." I said softly my eyes filling with fake tear as I looked away from Damon and Alaric's now guilt filled eyes.

"Well, maybe I can drop you off-" Damon offered, getting a sour look from Andy.

"No, it's fine Damon, this was fun, thanks for having me enjoy the cupcakes." I said tersely as I grabbed my jacket and began walking out of the estate.

I sighed as I got a good distance away blinking the fake tears away a grimace gracing my features as I looked up towards the night sky.

"Lilith! Hey!" I turned to see Damon driving next to me.

"Damon?"

"You sure know how to move quickly in those heels. I thought I would be able to catch you before you even left the grounds." He said with a chuckle.

I paused looking at him curiously "Why? did I leave something behind?"

"No, but I wanted to give you a ride home…"

"Why? I can walk." I said waving him off.

"Because what kind of man would I be if I let a lady as lovely as you walk home in the dark." Damon said rather smoothly.

I smirked. "I don't mind the dark, I find comfort in it, but I suppose it would be incredibly rude to let a lady walk home and in heels too…"

He smiled getting out of his car to let me in on the passenger side.

"Thank you Damon." I said after he drove me home.

"You have a lovely home." He said his eyes taking in the outside of my living space.

"Do you really think so? I've had better…" I said as I walked up my steps, Damon trailing behind me.

"Well this is it." I said turning to face him only to collide into his chest.

I raised an eyebrow at him as his eyes burned into my own as he leaned closer to my face. "Damon?" i said getting his attention.

He blinked then blinked again before shaking his head and stepping back. "I'm sorry I-"

"It's fine, happens all the time." I said flashing him a smile.

"Really?"

"No, but that me me trying to make you feel better." I said with a small chuckle.

He chuckled and shook his head.

"Well…you better get back to Andy." I said after a moment of us staring at each other. "Thank you again."

Before he could answer I turned opening my door before closing it in his face.

I waited a few minutes for him to leave before a cold chill went down my spine. My eyes narrowed as those sickly grey veins floated across my skin; this wasn't the first time it had happened…but it would be the last for a while to come.

I took a deep breath to calm my anger as the veins and sickly color disappeared under my skin and I could only be glad that I wasn't currently contracted to Elijah; what I would have felt the moment her was dagger would have been intensified for me. I placed my hand towards my stomach, as it was i still could feel the ghost of pain from when Kol was originally daggered.

I grimaced at the thought of Kol and shook my head and took a deep breath before tsking.

"Elijah you fool. I warned you…"
