The flames were growing.

Running around, Tadashi wiped sweat from his brow. It was getting unbearably hot, but he didn't care.

Well, he almost didn't.

"Professor Callaghan?"

No reply.

"Professor! Professor Callaghan!"

More shouts. More silence, the loudest silence Tadashi had ever heard. The loud crackling of the fire was all there was.

A flicker, then a flame caught onto the sleeve of his blazer. He hesitated for a second, then took it off and threw it on the ground, the inferno immediately consuming it. He was feeling enough heat already, it would be worse if any of his clothes were on fire. Still, it was his favourite blazer.

Hiro would be glad, he always says I look stupid in it, which doesn't fit me because "I'm a nerd". He probably just says it to annoy me -

A sudden jolt of realization.

Hiro!

If half the building wasn't already destroyed and the rest of it in flames, Tadashi would've hit his head against a wall. He couldn't leave Hiro alone like this! Hiro must be worrying like mad...

I am such an idiot.

What would Hiro say? Tadashi didn't care. Definitely not. He would let Hiro nag him for the rest of his life if he could just get out right this second.

He turned around and searched for the exit, but the fire was blazing too much. The smoke was too thick. He was too lost. Completely, utterly lost.

If I get out, Hiro will never let me hear the end of this. Aunt Cass won't, either.

But what if I can't get out...?

No! He had to get out. For his friends. For Aunt Cass. For Hiro.

Please please please need to get to Hiro PLEASE HIRO -

The building exploded.

Flashes of white, yellow, orange, red... It blinded Tadashi's eyesight.

From the corner of his eye, he caught the glimpse of a grey-haired man.

Professor Callaghan...

But there was no time to yell.

"Tadashi!" A faint cry. Hiro!

The beam on top of Tadashi cracked and fell.

"TADASHI!"

One colour crashed down, wiping away all the others Tadashi was seeing.

HIRO!

Black.
