Late at night, in a computer room of the NanoTech Research Facility, two scientists are in front of one of many computer screens that decorated the walls around them. The male scientist types away, seemly unaware of his female partner behind him, looking at hers watch.

"We better wrap this up," the female scientist gets hers counterpart's attention.

"Yeah, we're done for the night," the male scientist finishes his typing, before looking at the single computer in the center of the room. "We can do the safety checks tomorrow." He presses one more key, and in unison all the computer screens go dark.

The two scientists quietly leave the room, seconds pass until a low hum emerges from the lone computer in the middle of the room.

"Finally, I can make my move." The computer screen comes to life, with the appearance of a red, glowing transparent skull, which gives off a malicious laugh.

"Enter NanoTech, pt. 1"

Matrix City is a large industrial city, skyscrapers and factories throughout, with the most impressive sights are large metallic structures, the Matrix Energy Tanks. Riding down the city streets on a red motorcycle is one of its residents, his face concealed by a metallic red helmet. His head rise at the unusual sights before him: traffic lights changing colors randomly and a skyscraper's lights turning off and on crazy.

"Whoa, what's going on today?" The motorcyclist swerves around a car stopped by one of the crazy traffic lights. "The entire city is going nuts."

Sari Johnson, a tall blonde in hers early twenties, is rushing out of an apartment building, a laptop bag strapped over one shoulder and a folder under the other, right out to a black car parked out front.

"I don't believe I'm running so late," Sari enters hers car, automatically drops hers laptop and folder onto the passenger seat, before buckles herself in and tries to start up hers car. "C'mon, c'mon…" she keeps on turning hers key until the car's engine roars alive. "Thank you." Sari starts to pull away from the curb, "Hopefully, I won't be too late."

Outside the three stories NanoTech Research Facility, the motorcyclist parked his motorcycle and removes his helmet, revealing Michael Radder Jr., an eighteen years old African American. He does a quick scan of the building, places his helmet under one arm and enters the Facility.

Once inside, Michael find it's bustling like usual, with people in lab coats dashing about, busied with the reports in their hands or talking on a cell phone.

"You can smell the I.Q.s," Michael smirks.

Michael walks down the long white hallway and turns to find exiting from a doorway is the nineteen years old Harold Wheelie, and his father Henry Wheelie. Both of them are almost identical in appearance; the same dirty blonde hair and the same friendly blue eyes.

"Hey, Harold, long time no see," Michael high fives Harold.

"How are you doing, Michael?" Henry asks.

"Fine, Mr. Wheelie," Michael answers, before turning to Harold. "Have you seen my father?"

Almost subconscious, Michael and Harold start to follow Henry down the hallway.

"We're on our way to see him now," Harold explains. "I think Britney waiting for us too."

"How is Britney doing?" Michael asks.

"She is talking with hers mother," Harold tells him.

Michael stops in his track for a moment, "Oh, that bad."

Britney Kali, an eighteen years old brunette she is slight shorter then the guys, standing in the center of a pure white room with a large table in the center of the room and couple computer monitors on one wall with corresponding keyboards beneath them. Britney's arms are crossed, as she is watching hers mother, Anne Kali walking over to one of the monitors.

"I'm not saying that I don't want to go to college, but I want to see the world first, beyond Matrix City," Britney tries to tell hers mother.

Anne types away on the keyboard, splitting hers focus from the monitor and the sheet of notes in hers free hand.

"I understand that, Britney," Anne doesn't look away from the monitor. "But your education is very important. A good education will allow you to get almost any job; especially here, at NanoTech Research."

"Great…"

Anne gazes away for a second to notes the sarcasm, before returning to the monitor, "Listen, Britney, I just want to make sure you'll be prepared for the future."

"Sure thing, mom," Britney starts. "But you think about the future, I prefer to think about the present."

Britney walks back to the large table, leaving Anne to pause for a second, take a breath, and return to work.

On the other end of the room, a sliding door is slight ajar, and in the shadows stands three obscured figures: one short, one tall and skinny and a bulky one.

"She really should listen," the short figure whispers.

"Shh, we're supposed to be a secret, remember?" the skinny figure whispers.

At the East Wing Hallway of NanoTech Research, rounding the corner are Michael Radder Sr. and Commander Melvin Radder, two brothers of similar features, although Commander Radder seems gruffer, but still friendly.

"You know, I have never been comfortable with the weaponized aspects of NanoTech Research," Michael Sr. reminds his brother.

"You the one who dreamt up the whole Ranger-Droid thing," Commander Radder counters.

"A defense system is different from a weapon system," Michael Sr. starts. "Besides 'dream' up ways to use Matrix Energy to betterment mankind, I also look for ways to defend the city against those who would use Matrix Energy for mischievous intents."

"And the 'you-know-what'?"

The two brothers stop in the hallway, with the atmosphere around them sudden grows serious.

"A precaution… for a day I hope will never comes," the seriousness is evident from Michael Sr.'s tone.

Michael Sr. continues down the hallway, leaving Commander Radder to smiles before joining his brother.

"And Michael Jr.?" Commander Radder seemly changes the subject.

"What about him?"

"Well, I know Harold said that he will follows in his father's footsteps and becomes an engineer," Commander Radder lends forward a bit, still a step or two behind, ensuring Michael Sr. doesn't miss a word. "So what about your son?"

Michael Sr. looks over his shoulder to his brother, "While I would love for Michael to join me here at NanoTech Research, I also want him to find his own path."

Commander Radder smiles a silent approval as the two approaches a pair of doors with the sign "Control Center". The doors slide open, allowing them to enter to find Anne, Henry, Britney, Harold, and Michael waiting for them.

"Great, everyone already here," Michael Sr. turns to his comrade. "Anne?"

"Everything ready for you," Anne tells him.

"What going on, dad?" Michael asks.

"First tell me, what you knows about Matrix Energy," Michael Sr. asks, acting like a teacher in a room of students.

"It's a source of renewable energy discovered years ago at a small lab where you originally worked," Michael answers his father's question.

"And since then it been used everywhere in Matrix City, from power stations to gas stations, even hospitals," Britney finishes the explanation.

"Correct," Michael Sr. is seemly proud, unaware that Britney fires a small grin at Anne. Michael Sr. presses a hand on the large table, causing a hologram of a Matrix Energy Tank to appear over it. "Also, Matrix Energy Tanks are situated around the city, providing such luxuries. In fact, NanoTech Research's mission statement is to discover, analyze, and improve on technology for the betterment of mankind."

Michael Sr. presses the table with his finger once, causing the hologram of the tank to vanish and been replaced with a single dot. He presses the table several more times, causing dozens and dozens of dots to appear over the table.

"Including what I was working on when the discovery of Matrix Energy was made: nanotechnology," Michael Sr. continues. "Thousands and thousands of digital and robotic information crammed together into a single unit." Michael Sr. presses a finger on the table, causing all the dots to zoom together to form one large circle. "And like Matrix Energy, there is literal dozens possible applications for the usage of nanotechnology."

"Like the weapon system you developed?" Harold finally speaks up, causing Michael and Britney to gaze at him in surprised.

Michael Sr. gives Henry a look like he's thinking, "that supposed to be a secret." Henry just shrugs his shoulders in response.

"It's a defense system, to protect the city against the evil minded," Michael Sr. quickly explains.

Suddenly the lights go dark, and the hologram vanishes.

In the darkness, noises of bumping and clanking are heard. Just as suddenly the emergency lights turn on, with Michael faces to face to the skinny figure, Cycletah, a red robot with motorcycle hand bars on his head. Startled, Michael yelps and takes a quick step back. Harold and Britney then notices Cycletah, as well as the bulky figure, Go-rill, a blue robot with a face shaped like a steering wheel and the short figure, Rotbitt, a yellow robot that resembles a rabbit with small hidden wheels instead of feet.

"Who or what are you?" Britney completely dumbfounded.

"Its who and I'm RDB-3: Rotbitt," she seems slight insulted by Britney's use of the word "what."

Go-rill performs a slight bow, "And I'm RDB-2: Go-rill, but you can call me Go-rill if you wish."

Cycletah offers a handshake to Michael, "I'm RDB-1: Cycletah, nice to meet you, Michael."

Michael confusedly accepts the handshake.

"At least the Ranger-Droids wasn't affected by this blackout while at their recharging stations," Henry's relief.

"Ranger-Droids?" Harold as confused at recent developments as his friends.

"I don't think this is a simple blackout," Michael Sr. seemly unaware of the teenagers' reaction to the Ranger-Droids.

"Then what could it be?" Commander Radder asks.

The table then glows back to life, as the red, glowing skull appears over it.

"And what that?!" Commander Radder reacts.

"The day I was hoping will never come," Michael Sr. states.

Sari's car is caught in a traffic jam, as the traffic lights continue to alternate between the three colors at an alarming rate.

Suddenly, an inhuman voice emerges from all of the different cars' radios, "I am Malware…"

Sari tries to change hers radio channel, but nothing works as the voice continues, "While I was created by humans, I have advanced beyond their limitations."

Sari looks upon hers radio with a mixture of confusion and fright.

Back at the NanoTech Research Control Center, the gathering of humans and Ranger-Droids continue to watch Malware hovering over the table.

"Now I will take the world they've proved to be ineffective in protecting, even from themselves, and destroy the human race," Malware threatens, without changing the tone in his voice.

Malware's head disappears, as the table once again goes dead.

"This can't be real," Michael is stuck in a state of disbelieving.

Michael Sr. walks pass his son to the monitors, "I'm 'fraid it is, son." Michael Sr. presses a single key, causing a speaker-like icon to appear on the monitor. "All personnel evacuate the premises. I repeat. All personnel evacuate the premises, now!"

Anne's attention is drawn to a different monitor, "Michael, look."

Michael Sr. quickly gazes at the second monitor; a sense of fear now covers his face, "No."

"Dad?" Michael asks, worrying.

"The building is entering lockdown," Michael Sr. turns to face everyone. "Malware is trying to trap us in." Michael Sr. turns to his brother, "Quickly you must get everyone out."

Commander Radder nods, "You can count on me." He turns to everyone else, "Okay, everyone let's go."

Commander Radder starts to the room's only exit.

"Actually, I think our children should stay with us," Michael Sr.'s words stop his brother in his tracks.

Commander Radder turns to face Michael Sr., confused at his statement, "Are you sure?"

"They'll be safe," Michael Sr. tries to reassure him. "Just make sure everyone else get out."

"Understood," Commander Radder's confident in his brother's judgment.

Commander Radder exits the control center, with Michael Sr. start to head toward the exit too, "Everyone with me."

Anne, Henry, and the Ranger-Droids start to follow him, with Michael, Harold, and Britney stare at each other, realized that none of them is getting a handle on what is going on, before following suite.

Commander Radder is running down the east wing hallway when he sees a crowd of people just standing and staring at something down the adjacent hall. He finally catches up to the group.

"What everyone waiting for…" now Commander Radder sees it, down the hall are Virwares, strange humanoids with silver heads, magenta bodies, wearing black shoulder plates, gloves, and boots, with their large katar-like weapons at the readied. "Oh…"

The Virwares charge at the group.

Elsewhere the other group had entered the NanoTech Lab, a large white room, with a control booth to the right. The three teenagers stand in amazement, with the Ranger-Droids next to them. Without skipping a beat, Michael Sr., Anne, and Henry enter the control booth.

"What is this place?" Michael asks what is on his friends' mind.

"I'm sorry there's no time," Michael Sr. says, as he and Anne go to work on the computer console in the booth.

Henry presses a button next to the entrance to close the sliding door to the booth. Michael looks over to Harold for answers.

Harold quickly realizes what Michael is waiting for, "Don't look at me, I never seen this room before."

Unaware to any of them, something is approaching Britney from behind, and then with its black gloved hands grab her by the waist.

Britney yells, drawing the boys and Ranger-Droids' attention, allowing them to see a Virware had grabbed her from behind.

"Hey!" Michael yells.

Michael grabs the Virware's arms and pulls them off Britney, allowing Harold to kick the Virware backward into the hallway. Britney rushes to Harold's side, as the trio looks at the fallen Virware, as more Virwares jump out from down the hallway and lands next the fallen one.

Go-rill's steering wheel face spins one turn, "May I suggest we barricade the door?"

Rotbitt rolls up to Go-rill, "With what, this room is empty?"

"Besides, I think it a little late for that," Harold realizes.

Several Virwares are slowly entering the room, as the teens and Ranger-Droids slowly back up.

Back at the east wing hallway, Commander Radder just finishes flipping a Virware onto its back, with two more lying on the floor behind him. He looks up to see two guys trying to pry open a door.

"The door won't open!" the first guy yells in frustration.

"We're too late," the second guy starts to panic. "We trapped in here."

Commander Radder looks down, thinking to himself, before looking to his left and see the sign "Garage" on a door.

The door slides open to reveal a pitch black room, Commander Radder is able to pick out in the darkness a metallic black van, the NanoTech Van, putting a grin on his face. He rushes to the van, enters and immediately turns on the ignition. Commander Radder then notices the small screen on the dashboard which reads: "Garage Door: ON LOCKDOWN".

With one foot on the brake, Commander Radder revs up the engine. As the motor roars more and more, he starts screaming. Suddenly, Commander Radder releases the brake, causing the van to surge forward, blasting through the door, sparks flying off, creating a large hole the size of the van. The van then comes to a quick stop, with Commander Radder exits from the driver's side.

"Okay, everyone, out…" Commander Radder now sees a large metal door starting to come down over the hole he made, with couple of the people racing toward the hole, and Virwares chasing after them. "NO!" Commander Radder races to the building, but the metal door closes down, before anyone else could get out. He stares at it for a second, before starts bashing at the door with his fist. "NO! NO! NOOO!"

Back at the NanoTech Lab, a mostly one-sided fight scene has erupted.

A Virware grabs Britney by the arm and tosses her back against a wall. Rotbitt then rams into the Virware's legs, managing to knock it down.

Another Virware's arm swipe knocks Harold into Go-rill, who catches him.

Michael rolls under a Virware's katar strike, but a different Virware sends him to the floor with a backhand.

Inside the Control Booth, Anne sees the fighting through the two-way mirror, as Michael Sr. presses couple keys on the computer consoles, as Henry looks over a readout been printed.

"They're under attack," Anne's worry is clear.

"There nothing we can do for them," Michael Sr. clearly speaks with hesitation, obvious worry about his son and the others.

Michael Sr. pulls a flash drive out of his pocket, and gets ready to plug it into the console.

Henry looks away from the readout, "You're sure about this?"

"We don't have a choice," Michael Sr. looks up at the two-way mirror. "It's our only chance."

Michael Sr. plugs in the flash drive and then pulls down a small switch.

The teens and Ranger-Droids are continuing overwhelmed, as the walls start to glow bright white, when what appeared to be a quiet, colorless blast blow out from the center of the room, knocking everyone back. The three teens land on the floor on one side of the room, with their bodies becomes covered in green binary code for seconds, before the code disappears.

Back outside, Commander Radder continues to bang on the metal door, unaware that Sari's car pulls up in the background. Static electric shocks Commander Radder's hands off the door, as the entire building become covered in green binary code. Sari exits hers car, and looks at the entire scene, dumbfounded.

All of the NanoTech Research facility, now covered in binary code, suddenly becomes covered in a large flash of green light. Once the light dies down, the entire building is gone. Shocked by what just happened, Commander Radder surveys the entire scene, when he notices the three teens and Ranger-Droids on the ground on the other side of what is now an empty lot. Commander Radder gasps, before running up to them. While Sari, who still tries to understand what happened, runs after him.

The three teens and Go-rill start to return to their feet, with Cycletah helps Rotbitt upright.

"Michael! Harold! Britney!" Commander Radder dashes up to the confused teens, still trying to get a handle on the situation. "Are you all okay?"

"Wh-What happened?" Michael asks.

Sari finally manages to catch up, "That what I'm about to ask."

It is now when Commander Radder notices Sari, and turns to face her, "Who are you?"

"I'm Sari Johnson, I was supposed to start today at NanoTech Research as an operator."

"Well, safe to say that changed."

"I can see," Sari looks around. "What happened to the building?"

"The building?" Michael starts to recover from his recent experiences, and looks around himself. "Dad? Dad!"

"Mom! Mom, where are you?!" Britney calls out in a panic.

"This can't be happening," Harold also starts to panic. "Dad!"

"I'm truly sorry to say, but it would seems that except for us, everyone who were inside the building vanished with it," Rotbitt states the uncomfortable truth.

"Everyone…?" Sari starts to get depress, which Commander Radder is quick to noticed.

"How could they just disappear?" Britney's not understanding what happened.

"And why not us?" Harold adds to the mystery.

"Well, I did remember a strange light before everything went dark," Cycletah realizes.

"Yeah, me too," Harold agrees. "What was that?"

"Does it really matter?" Michael's gets upset.

"We must keep a level head, Michael," Commander Radder tells his nephew.

"Excuse me, Commander," Go-rill chimes in. "But what are we supposed to do? We're alone now, with nowhere to go?"

"We not alone just yet, Go-rill, and we do have a place to go," Commander Radder looks at the entire group before him. "Everyone, we need to go."

They all do as he said and follows Commander Radder back to the two cars, with Britney and Rotbitt joining Sari in hers car and drive away from the former site of the NanoTech Research facility.

On top of a nearby roof, a mysterious figure watches as the two cars drive away. The mysterious figure holds out a black laptop and opens it up. In an instant, Malware appears on the screen.

"There appeared to be survivors from NanoTech," the mysterious figure addresses Malware. "Should I deal with them?"

"No, they are inconsequence," Malware starts. "Continue as planned, Andro."

"As you wished, Malware," Andro closes his laptop and grin, as a short flash of binary code emerge in his eyes.

Sari's car follows the NanoTech Van down the streets, when both vehicles head down an entrance to an underground tunnel. Sari's car and the NanoTech Van kick up their hi-beams, as they make the long trek through the darkened tunnel.

Commander Radder is driving the NanoTech Van carefully, with Michael, Harold, Cycletah, and Go-rill crammed in the back, as he keeps on looking over the dashboard carefully, before presses a black button under the small screen.

Sari and Britney look over Sari's dashboard, amazed, with Rotbitt buckled in the backseat.

"This day just keep on getting weirder," Britney watches as a portion of the left wall slides open, allowing the NanoTech Van and Sari's car to drive in.

The two vehicles parked next to each other in a large garage, when suddenly a mechanic enters the garage and immediate approaches Commander Radder as he exits the NanoTech Van.

"Commander, we are getting reports that the NanoTech Research Facility just disappeared."

"I'm afraid, it's true," Commander Radder confirms the mechanic's fears.

The mechanic pauses for a second, "And that voice that proclaimed the end of humanity?"

Everyone else had exited the vehicles, but stopped and hanged on Commander Radders's words.

"It will be look into," Commander Radder tells the mechanic. "But you should return to work, we might need them soon."

"Yes, sir," the mechanic nods, before leaving the garage as quickly as he arrived.

"What is going on here? And what is this place?" Michael asks the questions his friends and Sari are wondering.

"Your father's defense system," Commander Radder pauses for a moment to collect his thoughts. "Now, c'mon."

Nothing else is said, as the group silently follows Commander Radder down a large black colored hallway, passing by people, who occasion takes a gaze as they pass.

"I thought everyone in NanoTech Research disappeared," Sari expresses hers confusion.

"They did," Commander Radder restates the painful obvious. "This isn't NanoTech Research. We don't have an official name. But since NanoTech Research's purpose is research, I guess ours unofficial name can be 'NanoTech Defense.'"

"Defense system," Michael says under his breath.

Commander Radder leads the group into a large black room, with monitors on one wall with keyboards below them, and a large table in the center of the room; a mirror-flipped of NanoTech Research's Control Center. Except on the table is three blue and black devices, each with a dial and yellowish glasses folded in half.

"Déjà vu," Britney says, upon seeing the room.

"Okay, enough of this, what is going on Uncle Melvin?" Michael demands.

"Melvin?" everyone else expresses surprised at Commander Radder's birth name.

Commander Radder takes a deep breath, ignoring that Michael used his embarrassing first name, and faces everyone present.

"Here the technology and equipment created by NanoTech Research is used to protect the city," Commander Radder begins. "Although your father, Michael, have some concerns."

"And Malware?" Harold asks.

"My knowledge of Malware is limited due to the high security level of the project, but it's painfully obvious that he is dangerous," Commander Radder explains. "And he must be dealt with."

"But how?" Britney wonders.

Commander Radder walks over to the three devices on the table.

"With theses," Commander Radder brings over everyone's attention. "The Nano Morphers."

Michael, Harold, and Britney walk over to the table.

"Morphers?" Michael doesn't understand.

"You know me, Michael; I'm no scientist, so I'm not well versed in the technology," Commander Radder begins. "But what I do understand, these devices will give you three the abilities and weapons to defend the city against Malware and whatever he throws at us."

"Why us?" Britney asks. "Because we were there today, I'm sure there others more suitable to the role."

"The coincidences of you three been there today have nothing to do with it. Your parents choose you three," Commander Radder reassures them.

"Us?" Britney exclaims.

The three teenagers look at each other, surprised and confused.

"They saw in you three the courage, inner strength, and strong characters needed to become Power Rangers," Commander Radder continues.

"Power Rangers?" Harold looks at the devices, like he's considering it.

Michael and Britney exchange looks, before stare at the devices.

"In fact, your parents wanted you to come to NanoTech Research with the intended purpose of introducing you to your Ranger-Droid partners," Commander Radder tells the teens.

"Partners," Michael's confusion continues to grow.

"Yes, we were created not only to aid in the understanding between men and machine, but to also assist you in defending the city," Rotbitt explains.

"And with theses," Michael picks up the center Morpher. "We'll be able to fight Malware?"

"You will," Commander Radder confirms.

Michael exchanges looks with Harold and Britney, before they pick up the remaining Morphers. Each of them places a Nano Morpher on their wrists, with wristbands shoot out from beneath and strap around their wrists. The three then look at the Morphers on their wrists, when alarms sudden start blazing.

"Now what?" Britney's getting annoyed at the sudden surprises.

Commander Radder presses a button on a keyboard, "Trouble."

One of the monitors shows Virwares running around the city plaza, swinging their katars, scaring people away.

"Alright then," Michael looks at Harold and Britney. "Let's start this."

Without making another sound, Commander Radder and Sari watch as Michael, Harold, and Britney run out of the room.

"Good luck," Sari quietly wishes.

At the city plaza, people are running away, scared witless, as the squadron of Virwares strike at them, barely missing and causing pure havoc. Suddenly, Michael, Harold, and Britney run onto the scene, passing the frightful civilians. The Virwares stop and start watching the three teens as they stand, shoulder to shoulder, almost like they are waiting for them to make the first move.

"Alright, let's do this," Michael says.

Harold and Britney nod in silent agreement.

Michael, Harold, and Britney turn the dial on their Nano Morphers, before holding the Morphers out in front of their chests.

"NanoTech Activate!" they yell in unison, pressing the dial face.

But nothing happens.

The three teens look at themselves and each other, in utter confusion.

Back at the underground base's Control Center, Commander Radder and Sari watch the scene unfolding on the monitor, concerned.

Michael, Harold, and Britney press the dial face again.

"NanoTech Activate!"

And once again, nothing happens.

Growing frustration, Michael presses his dial face numerous times.

Two Virwares look at each other, while a third turns its heads, all puzzled by what they are seeing.

Michael stops pressing his dial face, as he relax his arms next to his friends, all looking ahead at the Virwares, "This is so not good."
