Chapter XII

Aria

Ok so let's just say that the last time I was here C.C asked me if I would do something for her. Let's also just say that that something was breaking into the most secure building in the world. A museum. A freaking museum!

I sighed and tried to remember why I was here. London, British Museum, something about getting a picture of the action.

I groaned when I heard a shriek and took off in the direction of the noise. I froze when I saw what was happening, and who was doing it.

I darted between him and the Rosetta Stone. "Julius Kane." I said disdainfully. "What are you doing."

"Move aside Aria." He said calmly and continued his chant.

"No."

"Move aside child!" This time more forcefully.

"I said no." I replied calmly.

He shook his head and continued chanting.

You might think I would do something to stop him, but I couldn't. I just couldn't bring myself to strike him.

Just as he finished the last sentence I realized what was happening.

"Julius!" I exclaimed, While someone else yelled, "No! Dad No!"

He turned in surprise, "Children-" He started to say.

That was when my world fell apart. There was a blinding flash of light, and I was thrown against the wall with the force of standing in front of the stone that had exploded.

Oh and then there was the blood seeping through my shirt. I had been relatively shielding Julius from the blast of rock that had pelted me with about as much force as a truck, so he would be fine when I punched him in the face.

As I fought for consciousness I heard something that chilled my soul, laughing, cold, evil laughter.

I turned around, and saw something that scared me more than anything I'd ever seen.

Julius was fine but where the stone had been was a smoking pedestal the ground was marked with a black starburst mark except for the protective circle around Julius. His back was facing me but I could still see his knuckles turning white on his wand. At the corner where two figures a boy and a girl, I froze, the same boy and girl from my dream. I shook the thought from my head and turned my attention to the god in the room.

"Well done." Set said to Julius. "Very well done, Julius."

"You were not summoned!" Julius's voice trembled. He raised his wand but Set flicked one finger and it shattered against the wall.

"I am never summoned Julius." He purred. "The child here understands that when you open the door you must be prepared for guests to walk through." He gestured towards me.

"Back in the Duat!" Julius roared. "I have the power of the great king!"

I mentally face-palmed myself.

"Ooh, Scary." Set smirked. "And even if you knew how to use that power, which you do not, he was never my match. And now you will share his fate."

I flinched at the last part. Julius would die if I didn't do anything.

"Hey!" I called. "Dog breath!"

Set turned on me his eyes lit up in excitement.

I drew my knives warily.

"Ooh! A Demigod! What fun!"

I gritted my teeth.

"Go to Osiris!"

"Oh I would love to." Set sighed. "But I already have." He looked again at Julius really confusing me, but not enough to shut me up.

I opened my mouth but Julius cut me off.

"Aria, this is my battle. Stand aside."

Before I could protest he drew his staff, in small version, he turned it into it's large form and threw it at Set. There was no doubt about it, Julius was an incredible magician.

His staff morphed into a serpent and it lunged at Set. He merely caught it by it's neck and sent flames flickering down it's body. Before long the only thing that was left of Julius's staff was a pile of smoking ash.

What was this guy's obsession with fire?

"An old trick Julius." Set chided.

Julius sent another pleading look towards his son. It was then that I realized I had to get them out of here.

As I started to inch towards them Julius started his trump card.

"How many?" He asked. "How many did I release?"

"Why all five." Set said as if explaining it to a child. "You should know we're a package deal, Julius. Soon I'll release even more, and they'll be very grateful. I shall be named king again."

"The Demon Days," Julius said. "They'll stop you before it's too late."

The god laughed. "You think the House can stop me? Those old fools can't even stop arguing among themselves. Now let the story be told anew. And this time you shall never rise!"

Set waved his hand. The blue circle at Julius's feet went dark. He grabbed for his toolbox, but it skittered across the floor.

"Good-bye, Osiris," Set said. With another flick of his hand, he conjured a glowing coffin around my nemesis. At first it was transparent, but as he struggled and pounded on its sides, the coffin became more and more solid—a golden Egyptian sarcophagus inlaid with jewels. Julius caught his son's eyes a last time, and mouthed the word Run! before the coffin sank into the floor, as if the ground had turned to water.

"Dad!" The boy screamed.

I booked it for them when I knew that the god noticed the boy and girl. I heard the footsteps of security guards.

Set lunged just before he connected he was thrown back. The boy's amulet was glowing with power.

Set hissed like an angry cat. I gave him my best death glare stepping between him and Julius's children.

Set ignored me and zeroed in on the boy. "So it's you!"

The room shook again and the wall exploded.

There stood the two people I most wanted to see, other than Percy and Annabeth.

"Zia!"

Set growled. "Soon boy!"

The entire room erupted in flames. This guy should meet Zeus. I think they'd get along great!

Thunder boomed. "Oh shut up."

I heard a thump and turned to see the boy crumple.

I suddenly had a knife at my throat, I knew instantly who it was.

"Desjardins," I said. "Pleasure to meet you again."

Yes! I finished!

I'm just gonna go into my room and celebrate. Well if you didn't get the idea that's it for Aria Kane and The Sea of Monsters. I will probably publish the next book soon. I was really excited for this chapter cause Aria got her memory back! Haha! Anyway Goodbye I will see you in two weeks...
