~Yukio's POV~
I stared blankly at the ground as I continued back to the dormitory, recalling the recent exorcism that had just taken place.
A couple of middle-class demons had decided to make a little show in the forest.
In the forest.
Where the clearing was.
I shook my head. It's been a year and half since the incident, and a pretty good year and a half, if I say so myself.
Rin wanted me to be happy, so I should be. If not for myself, then for him.
I sighed and lifted my head, staring at the sky. The city lights were still on, so hardly any stars were visible.
I only saw 2. Just 2.
A larger one and a smaller one.
Side by side.
Directly above me.
I felt a small smile form on my lips as my chest began to tighten a little. "I hope you're watching me from where you are, Nii-san, along with Father Shiro." I whispered.
As though in response, the smaller of the two twinkled. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and lowered my head so I wasn't looking up or down, and opened my eyes.
Then I heard rapid footsteps behind me, quickly getting closer. For a reason unknown to myself, my body would not let me move out of the way. A moment later, a body slammed into me, and I fell over, the other person falling as well.
"Aaah…" I heard him say, rubbing his elbow. A moment later he was sitting up with his back to me, as though nothing had happened, his hands on the ground beside him.
I sat up as well. The person seemed to be a bit shorter than me, from my point of view. He wore a crimson hoodie with the hood on, baggy, black jeans, and cerulean sneakers.
Another moment later he was standing up and apparently looking down at me, since he appeared to be hanging his head slightly, his hand held out to me.
I stared at where I thought his face would be for another moment, before taking his hand, when he yanked me to my feet. As I came up, his hood came down.
He looked exactly like Rin, except his hair was shorter.
But the color of his hair.
Those eyes.
That face.
The person smiled and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, a rosy color tinting his cheek.
That smile.
"Hey, mate, you okay?" He peered into my face, his expression suddenly solemn. His eyes seemed to glow in the dark a little bit, and they were more intense than I had thought at first.
I shook my head and returned the smile. "I'm fine."
"You sure?"
I nodded.
"Alright. Sorry, mate." He smiled again and took off in the direction that he had apparently been headed.
I found myself staring in the direction he had disappeared into for several minutes, before shaking my head and snapping out of it, continuing to walk.
It couldn't be Rin.
Rin was dead.
I watched him die with my own eyes.
It's impossible.
…Right?
