Hello I'm mad thought. Thank you for taking a look at my story. I got into fanfiction over a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. I have a lot of ideas, mostly crossovers, that I've kicked around in my head for a while now and want to get them out there. This is my first attempt at a story and I hope you all like it. Major inspiration from VFSNAKE's Naruto of the Shadow Blade (highly recommend) and Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Please be nice to me and don't hate.

I own nothing except for OCs.

Prologue: Fallen

Broodmother Xendra had lost so much, too much for her tastes.

Her swarm had come to Carravha III to eliminate a Terrain facility that had been manufacturing weapons to the Dominion in the fight against the Zerg Swarm. Xendra knew her brood was much smaller in comparison to other Broodmothers, but she assumed that the Terrains would stand no chance to the rush and retreat tactic she was known for. Unfortunately for her, it was better defended than she thought.

The facilities of Carravha III were well known within the Dominion as mass producers of Goliaths and, more importantly, Siege Tanks. Xendra's forces were comprised mostly of Zerglings, Hydralisks, and Mutualisks. It was a good force for dealing with outposts and skirmishing larger forces, but it was useless against a well-stocked and fortified position like the facility was. Goliath rockets neutralized her air support and her ground forces were reduced to nothing but burnt corpses, splats of gore, and craters from constant siege tank barrages. The Terrains took loses as well, but not to the extent that it did lasting damage.

She couldn't even try to rebuild her forces with more advanced Zerg units as the Terrains counter attacked with Marines, Vikings, Goliaths, Firebats, Marauders, and five platoons of Siege Tanks. Xendra knew she was defeated and had to retreat with what remained of her brood, so she sent wave after wave of Zerglings to harass them and lead them away from the main Hatchery while she evacuated as many supplies and forces as she could.

The evacuation was going smoothly until a slightly unhinged Terrain Siege Tank driver and the rest of the five platoons of his fellow drivers found them. He had his speakers turned up he signaled the charge in the most unusual fashion.

"Oh hell yeah! Siege tank rush baby! Where is your Queen of Blades now? WHERE IS SHE!"

The withdrawal became a mad dash to the Overlords for Xendra as she sacrificed more of her brood to escape the tidal wave of angry explosions and profanities of the lead Terrain. She lost more as they were shot down by Goliaths and Vikings leaving her with only a handful of four Overlords left of her once proud brood.

Where was she now? In front of her master Sarah Kerrigan: the Queen of Blades. Once a Terrain Ghost operative, she was turned into a hybrid Zerg by the Overmind and now lead her swarm against the Dominion and her most hated adversary Arcturus Mengsk. She also had recent run-ins with her former love James Raynor, which made things more…complicated for her in the long run. But that wasn't what she was concerned with now.

"Xendra, do you know why you are here?"

"Yes my Queen, to receive punishment for my failure to destroy the Terrain facility."

"That is correct. Your brood has been brought low by the Dominion forces stationed there."

"Please my Queen allow me to take some forces from other Broodmothers. With their strength added to my brood's own-"

Her line of reasoning was cut short by a flare of powerful psionic energy from the Queen of Blades, whose eyes were glowing a very angry orange.

"NO. Your brood has no more strength and is no longer fit to fight. Instead you shall go from world to world collecting essence, essence that will make the Swarm stronger. You are free to combine the essence with your recovering brood to find out how useful it will be to the Swarm."

Xendra did the Zerg equivalent of raising an eyebrow. This was to be her punishment? Scouring the galaxy for essence. Was the fighting getting that badly for the Swarm?

"But my Queen, I am no expert in spinning strains. I doubt whatever I produce will be fit for the swarm. Only Abathur can properly spin effective strains. Unless you plan on having Abathur join us on this expedition, I fear that it may be more harm than good my Queen"

The Queen of Blades pondered this as Xendra had a point. If she did come across some powerful essence, would she be unable to find its true worth or spin it properly into already present Zerg forces? True all brood-mothers had some skill in sequence spinning, but for Kerrigan's expedition to bear fruit they would need a spinner of Abathur's skill.

With that in mind, Kerrigan left Xendra and went to Abathur. Abathur appeared before the Queen of Blades in the evolution pit with his usual hunched, many armed and many eyed form.

"Do you require a new sequence for Swarm's function?" he inquired.

"Not this time Abathur. I want you to make another like yourself."

That stopped him. "For what purpose do you require second individual of my skill?" She explained her plan and Xendra's concern.

"Hmmm. Logical. Can see merits of collection and understand worry of inefficacy. Requires one of my skill yet am bound to Queen of Blades. Work requires skill not found in amateur. Will create. Will work." He quickly set to work creating another him and, whether he knew it or not, he enjoyed the challenge.

The new individual looked like Abathur, but instead of a vertical mouth like Abathur he had a mouth that was a combination of horizontal and vertical. A very plus sign shaped. He also had all of Abathur's current knowledge of the Zerg swarm. The individual was named Sulu.

"With Sulu we shall gather great essence to multiply the swarm's strength. I shall maintain a mental link my Queen. We go in the name of the Swarm." Xendra announced.

Fortune however provided her with poor sources to gain new essence from. They acquired plenty of biomass but nothing truly significant. Until she came across a planet that could have be mistaken for earth, the Terrain home world. There was even a Terrain presence on the planet.

"Is this some lost Terrain colony?" she wondered but her thoughts were derailed by a massive flare of power they could feel from orbit.

"Sulu what is that can you pinpoint it?" she asked in a slightly panicked tone as this power might give the Queen of Blades a challenge.

"Located. Creature resides in forest. Terrain settlement in forest also. Creature proceeding in direction of settlement. Identified by panicked Terrains as the Kyuubi, a giant nine-tailed fox. Should collect essence for swarm. Should approach with great caution." Sulu replied.

Xendra nodded. The four Overlords that held her brood moved into the atmosphere and moved toward the Kyuubi to try to set up a Hatchery close by to raise the forces necessary to take it on. Fortunately it was more preoccupied by the Terrain settlement and its defenders than with them and even more fortunate that the Terrains were occupied fighting the Kyuubi. Unfortunately that didn't stop one of its tails from swatting all four Overlords into a forested area within the settlement.

They crash landed deep in the middle of Konoha's infamous training ground 44: "the Forest of Death". It was where the village kept dangerous animals and deadly plants for training their ninja, but those who were actually willing to go into it were few and far between. The force of said crash was enough for the overlords to break into a lager underground cavern. Xendra began examining the situation and weighed her options.

"I seem to have lost more of my brood because of that creature. We are down to only one severally crippled Overlord, eight Zerglings, four Hydralisks, two Mutualisks, and only three Drones. This is not good. We don't have a force strong enough to overwhelm that Kyuubi. Sulu are you still alive?"

Part of a recently killed Overlord began to squirm and pulsate until Sulu's form pierced thru the copse's side. "Fully functional and…messy. Require place to work and spin strains," he said in his very monotone way.

"Very well, we shall need to set up a Hatchery and start building a base if we intend to take that creature's essence," she replied. But then she noticed the power they had felt was no longer there. The Kyuubi could no longer be felt and that meant only one thing to Xendra.

"Gone! How can a creature of that size and power just simply disappear? But…there could be more of them." She reached out psychically to reach the Queen of Blades. "My Queen we have found powerful essence for the swarm but are stranded will you be sending aid my Queen or shall we take matters into our own hands?"

"My Queen? Can you hear me?"

"We…we are…alone. But…we are not without purpose. We will build, we will grow, we will collect essence and biomass, and, if need be, find a new queen. We shall endure. We are the Zerg Swarm."
