Author's Notes
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllloooooooooooooo People! CrimsonKyuubiSage here! I was watching the first season of H.O.T.D. when this idea suddenly came to me. Not many people know this about me (Or know who I am in real life), but I am an avid fan of anything related to apocalypse games, movies, etc.. Specifically, zombie apocalypses. Dying Light, World War Z (The book, not the crappy interpretation that starred Brad Pitt), Zombieland, and others like it. So... I put two and two together, and bam! This story was created, a crossover between Naruto and Highschool Of The Dead with elements from Dying Light added into the mix. So... I hope you enjoy Dying Light Of The Dead! Read and Review!

"To the reader of this journal, my name is Naruto Namikaze. I've decided to go back through my journal entries and write this as a foreword and... as a forewarning.
That day - or as we would later call it, Day Z - everything changed. Society practically collapsed in on itself shortly after, there was nothing we could do about it. Not the world leaders, not the press, not the military, not even the people. It's just... [Sigh]... It all happened so fast. No one was prepared for "Them", a freak show like no one's ever seen.
A few weeks prior to the outbreak, I had heard some rumors about three platoons being sent somewhere in China for some highly classified investigation sanctioned by the UN. Three platoons were sent... two came back in body bags...
Of course, now that I think back on it, there really was no precise location where the disease first began. Rumors of strange actions out in Vietnam, reports of cannibalism out in some of the jungle parts of South America, cases of violent behavior in parts of Europe... It really was a futile effort to try and find where it all began, I realize that now. I guess I just wanted to hold on to the slim chance that I could find whoever that son of a bitch was that started this shit, get some type of fucking vaccine or cure or some bullshit like that from him, save the world, and everything would go back to normal.
It was hard at times, just waking up to the apocalypse. Sometimes I dreamt that this was all a dream, that Day Z didn't happen, that things were still as they were before. But then I would wake up to the harsh reality that I was in.
Bah, I must look like I'm rambling at this point, so I'll just cut the bullshit and stop talking. I'll let my story do the talking."
Agent Naruto "Fox" Namikaze - October 15, 2015
Chapter Start
-Unknown Location-
Dream Sequence Start
"Nii-san! Nii-san!" a young voice exclaimed. The owner of said voice was a young five year-old boy with brown eyes and spiky black hair wearing a white shirt and dark gray shorts.
"Ne? What is it?" another voice asked. The person in question was a twelve year-old boy with spiky golden blond hair and bright blue eyes. He wore a plain orange shirt with blue shorts.
"Naruto-nii! I finally figured out how to tie my shoes all on my own!" the boy stated, causing Naruto to grin.
"Well, it's about time you did, you big baby!" Naruto teased.
"Mou, so mean, Naruto-nii!" the boy exclaimed.
"I'm just joking ya, little bro!" Naruto said, ruffling the boy's hair. "Come on! Let's go show it to tou-san and kaa-san!"
"Alright!" the boy exclaimed.
"-Police are still on a manhunt for the serial killer, he has been last spotted in the-" Naruto and the boy ran through the house, ignoring the blaring television in the kitchen.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!" was the feminine cry that came from the living room.
"Kaa-san!" Naruto cried out.
Dream Sequence End
"Kaa-san!" Naruto exclaimed as he sat up in his bed, sweat dripping off his body as he tried to catch his breath.
'Dammit! Not that dream again...' he thought, tears forming at the edges of his eyes. Twelve years had passed since that day, yet Naruto could still remember it vividly. The now twenty-four year-old man had grown to 5'10", his blond hair having grown shaggy, yet still retained its spiky appearance. He had dyed the tips of his hair crimson red, and his once bright blue eyes had grown dull over the years.
The sound of a cell phone ringing broke the blond out of his musings. Naruto turned his head to the nightstand on his left, the caller ID stating D/CIA. A groan escaped Naruto's lips as he rubbed his eyes and picked up his phone.
"John... what is it? Do you have any idea what time it is?" Naruto asked, the man on the other end of the line being John Brennan, current head of the CIA.
"Naruto, we need to talk." John said over the phone, the serious tone of his voice causing Naruto to snap into full attention.
"I'm listening." Naruto stated.
"Head down to headquarters, this is priority level one." John stated.
"Alright, I'm on my way." Naruto said, jumping out of his bed and throwing on his clothes.
"Good. The call and code are-" John whispered the rest over the phone. "Got it?"
"Crystal clear." Naruto stated. He had finally gotten the rest of his clothes on, which consisted of a ruffled and slightly dirty dark red t-shirt, black pants, and a pair of sneakers. "Heading out now."
-Central Intelligence Agency Headquarters, Langley, Virginia, 11:20 P.M. EST-
Naruto quickly made his way to the near empty building, save for the secretary behind the desk.
"Lovely weather we're having." the woman behind the desk said.
"Yes, but I always carry an umbrella." Naruto replied cryptically. The woman released a silent 'ah' before pushing a button underneath the desk, a button that was right next to a concealed Skorpion vz. 61.
"Take the hall on the right and head down to basement level two. The fifth door on the right." the woman stated, a smile on her face.
"Thank you." Naruto said, bowing slightly before following the woman's directions.
"About time you showed up, Fox." John stated, Naruto having finally made his way to the specified room. Two men sat in the room, along with one woman. "Fox, these two are Thomas Frieden, current director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Hinata Hyuuga, the best biologist and behavioral scientist that we could get in the amount of time we have."
"It's nice to meet you." Hinata said, a small blush on her face as she looked at Naruto. Hinata was a beautiful young woman that stood at 5'6" with long and straight dark blue hair, fair skin, K-cup breasts, and lavender eyes with no pupil. She wore a cream-colored hoodie and dark blue sweatpants. All-in-all, she appeared to have only been recently woken up, yet still retained a drop-dead gorgeous appearance.
"The pleasure is all mine." Naruto finally said, a blush on his face after he was done checking her out. Unbeknownst to him, Hinata was doing the same thing.
"If you two are done playing lovey-dovey, can we get on with this meeting?" Thomas teased, getting a deeper blush from both Naruto and Hinata.
"Alright, what I'm about to show you is highly confidential. Each and every one of you must take a vow of silence on the matter." John said.
"Understood." was the unanimous reply from Naruto and Hinata. The projector in the room sprung to life, revealing a gruesome image that elicited a gasp of shock and widened eyes from Hinata and Naruto respectively.
"This footage was taken nearly one week ago in the jungles of Southeast Asia." John stated. The image sprung to life, various numbers and words on the corners of the screen indicating the time and date. But that wasn't what caught the duo's attention. No, what caught their attention was the sight of a man silently screaming as three more men stood above his position on the ground, their jagged and yellowed teeth digging into the man's flesh and ripping it off like it was paper.
"Oh my god..." Hinata muttered, her hands covering her mouth.
"That's not the worst part." Thomas stated, turning back to the footage. The man who was once being devoured by the three men had stood back up, his body twitched and spasmed for a few seconds before he froze up.
"What's wrong with him?" Naruto asked.
"Just watch." John said. The frozen man quickly became animated, though his skin had visibly paled to a dull gray, and his eyes were unfocused and appeared to have no use. The man began shuffling off the screen when the footage turned into static.
"What was that?" Naruto questioned.
"We don't know. The closes thing we have to identify it to is... the undead." Thomas said.
"But that shouldn't be scientifically possible! A disease that kills the host, yet makes it so that their deceased body functions and spreads the infection!" Hinata exclaimed.
"I agree, this thing sounds like something that would come out of a video game or a television show." Naruto said.
"That's true, which is why we need to identify what kind of infection it is." Thomas replied.
"This is where you two come in." John stated, pulling out two files. He stood up and began pacing around with both files in one hand. "Hinata Hyuuga, renowned for her work in developing a cure for the ebola virus in 2013. Best known for her ability to analyze any disease and come up with its symptoms almost immediately." he said, placing one of the files onto the table that had a picture of Hinata. "For anonymity, your name will not be given. Only you can do that, and you already know the potential consequences of such actions. Agent Fox, currently the youngest person ever in the history of the Agency to have become a field operative. Hand-to-hand skills: extraordinary, marksmanship: ten out of ten in all forms of targets, combat skills overall are highly above average. His best field skill though is his ability to analyze any situation and come up with a solution." John finished, throwing the last file onto the table. "She's the brain and he's the muscle."
"Your point being?" Naruto questioned.
"The United Nations has turned to the CIA and the CDC on this matter." Thomas stated.
"We've gone through all our options, and in the situation we're currently in, you two are our best bet." John said, a map of Japan appearing on the projector. "Most cases of these so called 'zombies' have sprung up in Asia, some parts of Europe, and most recently in the US and some of the more populated areas in South America. But the earliest cases we've seen have started in Japan."
"Japan?" Naruto said.
"I can honestly say I'm as surprised as you are about this." John stated. "We need you two to dive right into the hornet's nest before everything goes ape shit in hopes of finding a Patient Zero."
"I... I guess that makes sense. If we can find Patient Zero, then maybe we can isolate the infection and engineer a cure of some kind - or a vaccine." Hinata said.
"No news about this is to escape to the public, not until we've at least categorized this disease." Thomas said.
"You two are going to be airdropped into the prefecture Shizuoka, specifically Tokonosu City." John stated.
"Why Tokonosu City?" Hinata questioned.
"Because we've been tracking the infection's progress for as long as we can, and this city is going to be hit next. We're hoping to send you two in to link up with the SDF and begin your hunt from there." John said. "That's the best case scenario."
"And the worst?" Hinata asked.
"The worst case scenario, the infection has already hit the city by the time you two are sent in." John stated, a frown marring his face.
"When do we leave?" Naruto asked.
"... Within the next twenty-four hours." John replied. "Failure is not an option. It's not just your lives on the line, it's the lives of all of humanity as well."
"What about equipment?" Naruto questioned.
"Whatever you need. This is more than likely going to be a long-term mission, and..." John started. "*Sigh* Look, I won't sugar coat it, you two will be on your own. No airdrops, no backup. Everything you will need after you've entered the city you'll have to find on your own."
"I understand." Naruto said., steeling his expression.
"Excellent, prepare to leave ASAP." John stated, Thomas and Hinata exiting the room. "Naruto, a word." he said as Naruto was about to leave.
"What is it?" Naruto asked.
"Cut the bullshit, Naruto." John stated, seeing right through his subordinate's bluff.
"Alright. I'll admit I find it highly suspicious that you've chosen a city that has yet to be hit by the infection if we're looking for Patient Zero." Naruto stated, his eyes narrowing sharply. "There's an ulterior motive."
"Accurate as always. While the mission itself is being sanctioned by the UN, there are a few targets that the nation has deemed compromised threats ." John said, pulling out a third file and placing it on the table. "Inside this folder are your targets, all of them have been tracked down to be in the vicinity of Tokonosu City, and all of them have the POTUS's seal of approval to take out. Make it look like an accident, or in a way so that it cannot be traced back to the US. Take a look through the folder and memorize your targets." he finished, standing up and walking to the door. "You have your mission."
"Understood, sir." Naruto said.
"This may be the last time we meet, so good luck... Fox." John said.
-Langley Field, Hampton, Virginia, 2:34 A.M. EST-
The sun had barely begun to rise as the black SUV sped to the military base. Naruto and Hinata sat on one side of the vehicle while Thomas sat opposite to them.
"Alright, we've gone through your requested equipment. We've got two of the three guns you've requested-" Thomas stated.
"Yeah, but did you guys get the specific weapon I asked for?" Naruto asked.
"It took a few minutes of looking around and quite a few CIA agents help, but we found it." Thomas said, grabbing the box next to him and handing it over to Naruto. The blond couldn't help but grin as he opened the box, a look of surprise and weariness on Hinata's face. "A Smith & Wesson Model 29, 83/8" barrel, stainless dark steel finish, polished oak grip, and six .44 S&W Special bullets in the chamber." Thomas stated as Naruto inspected the weapon.
"... Yep, this is it. This one's mine." Naruto said.
"We've also gotten you most of the other items you've requested at the airfield: A Glock 21 equipped with tactical light and laser and detachable suppressor and six .45 AUTO thirteen-round magazines, one black tactical vest, a GLOCK Duty Holster, a Bianchi 5BHL Thumbsnap Holster, three M67 Grenades, a SPY Sunglass DVR Camera AK-DV78, one working compass, binoculars, a satellite phone, black fingerless gloves, a pair of steel-toed boots, one steel trench knife, a black All Hazards Prime Backpack, a medium-sized black leather journal, and six MREs." Thomas stated before turning to Hinata. "The equipment you've asked for we couldn't get in time to Langley Field, so you'll get the items you requested when the plane makes a stop-over in Mather Air Force Base. Same thing for the rest of your items, Fox."
"You guys have gotten every item?" Naruto questioned.
"With all that's happened concerning this new infection, surprisingly yes. It's not just the United States that's in on this, it's all of the UN! Every country! Russia, Japan, Iraq, Iran, India, Australia, China, the list goes on. For once, the world's leaders are all in agreement on something." Thomas replied. "Every country is holding back on sending in soldiers though, more than likely to prepare for the impact that the infection will have in their own countries, but the Brazilians have graciously supplied us with the airplane you'll be flying in, a KC-390. Once you've refueled in Mather, you'll be on your own."
"A KC-390? I thought those things weren't going to be introduced until next year?" Naruto said.
"The one you'll be flying to Japan in is one of the prototypes." Thomas stated.
"We've arrived." the driver said.
"Alright, this is as far as I can go with you two. Remember, once you've landed in Tokonosu City, you're on your own!" Thomas said, Naruto and Hinata exiting the car. "God speed you two." he mumbled, watching the two hopes of humanity head on their way.
"Ano, where is the airplane?" Hinata asked.
"Excuse me, ma'am, sir?" a voice called out. Naruto and Hinata turned around to find two people standing a few yards from them. The first was a man standing at 5'7" with short brown hair, dark-colored eyes and dark markings under his eyes. Even though he appeared to be a young man, he had pronounced lines under his eyes. He wore a sage green US Air Force flight suit and a black bandanna that had a metal plate on the front with a leaf insignia carved into it. Next to this man was a woman that stood at 5'6" with long straight, purple hair that reached down to her waist, warm brown eyes, and a shade of red lipstick. Like the man standing next to her, she wore a sage green US Air Force flight suit.
"Yes?" Naruto asked.
"I need you two to identify yourself otherwise we'll have to take you into custody." the man said.
"Fair enough, my name is Hinata Hyuuga CDC biologist and behavioral scientist." Hinata stated.
"Special Agent Fox, CIA." Naruto stated, pulling out a CIA badgeholder.
"Senior Airman Hayate Gekko." the man, now identified as Hayate, stated.
"Airman First Class Yugao Uzuki." the woman, now identified as Yugao, stated.
"A pleasure." Naruto said, extending his hand to Yugao and Hayate.
"Nice to meet you, we're your designated pilots from here to hell." Hayate said jokingly, causing Yugao to smack him on his head.
"Sorry about my boyfriend. As he said, we're the pilots that are going to fly you to Japan." Yugao said.
"Oww, did you have to hit so hard?" Hayate mockingly complained before placing one hand on his head and leaning back slightly. "Oh woe is me, my girlfriend only uses me as her boy-toy."
"Can it, lover-boy, otherwise you won't get any." Yugao smirked.
"Humph! Fine, you win..." Hayate conceded.
"So... do you mind telling us why you two are being sent into Japan? It's got to be something big if it's only two people." Yugao asked.
"Yeah, we're both in the dark here." Hayate added.
"Oh it's this d-" Hinata started, only to be stopped when Naruto placed his hand over her mouth.
"That's classified." Naruto replied.
"Oh come on, not even a little hint?" Hayate said.
"This is surprising, I would've thought you two would already have been sworn to secrecy." Naruto stated.
"Oh, we already have been-" Hayate replied.
"Then you must know that this mission is to be classified as top secret." Naruto interrupted.
"I - Yes..." Hayate said.
"Then you know that I cannot reveal to you such highly classified information here." Naruto said.
"Okay, I get it, I get it. 'I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you' sort of deal." Hayate stated, throwing up his hands in defense before motioning behind him. "Right this way, Mr. Bond."
"Watch where you're treading, or you'll be shaken, not stirred." Naruto joked, walking behind the pilots as they lead them along into one of the hangars. Inside the hangar was pretty empty, save for a medium-sized supply crate and a medium-sized, twin-engine jet-powered military transport aircraft.
"That crate has your stuff, Agent Fox. This here-" Hayate started, patting the aircraft twice. "-is the KC-390. Twenty-one metric tons, can get to Mach 0.8, this baby'll get us to where we want to."
"Holy shit! They actually got this stuff in time?" Naruto exclaimed, pulling out a dark red polyester shirt. A blush crept across both women's faces, Yugao turning her head away when Naruto quickly pulled off the shirt he was wearing and replaced it with the new shirt, followed by pulling out a pair of black pants that seemed more durable than the pants he was wearing at the moment and replaced them with the new pants.
"Dude..." Hayate said.
"What? Time is of the essence." Naruto stated, putting on the rest of his gear. By the time he was done, Naruto was now wearing a dark red polyester shirt, black pants, a black tactical vest, a black backpack, black fingerless gloves, a black GLOCK Duty Holster, a Bianchi 5BHL Thumbsnap Holster, and black steel-toed boots. His Smith & Wesson Model 29 was in his right holster, and the blond held a Glock 21 in his hands that he was currently loading before he holstered it in his left holster. Naruto placed the Glock 21's suppressor inside one of his tactical vest's pockets. Naruto checked the rest of his items, finding that only the omitted items that Thomas had said he would get in California were missing. "Everything checks out. Alright!" Naruto exclaimed, clapping his hands. "Let's move out!"
"Geez, calm down a bit, will you? I mean, it's not like it's going to be the end of the world... right?" Hayate joked, only to receive silence from Naruto and Hinata.
"Let's just say that it is of upmost importance that we hurry along." Naruto stated, entering the back of the plane with Hinata following shortly after.
-On The Airstrip-
"-Pelican to Tower-One, Pelican to Tower-One, do you copy." Hayate said.
"Tower-One to Pelican, I copy. You are clear for takeoff." the voice said over the radio.
"Roger that." Hayate replied. A few minutes later, the KC-390 was in the air on its way to Mather Air Force Base in California. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard Hayate Airlines one-way trip to Japan, we'll be stopping over in Sacramento briefly to refuel and then we'll be on our way to Tokonosu City. That should be about five or so hours from now so I suggest getting some sleep in while you can."
"He's right Agent Fox, it won't do us any good to be sleep deprived on this mission." Hinata said
"... Naruto." Naruto mumbled.
"Wha-?" Hinata questioned.
"My name... is Naruto Namikaze." Naruto stated, pulling his backpack off and searching around until he found a small white bottle. A sigh escaped his lips as he opened the bottle, revealing white pills. This did not go unnoticed by Hinata.
"What's that?" Hinata asked.
"Prazosin." Naruto replied, his voice no louder than a whisper, though Hinata heard him clearly.
'Prazosin... A sympatholytic drug used to treat patients that mainly have...' A look of shock came across Hinata's face when she came to a sudden realization. "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?" she quietly called out, the sight of Naruto stiffening confirming her suspicions. "What happened?" Hinata asked, placing her hand on top of Naruto's.
"*Sigh* Sorry doc, but that's classified." Naruto stated, using his backpack as a makeshift pillow. "Wake me when we get to Sacramento..." And with that, Naruto had fallen asleep.
-Tokonosu City, Shizuoka, Japan, 7:41 A.M. JST-
The sun began to rise across the seemingly quiet city. Through the eyes of the looker, this city appeared quite peaceful. In reality, though, it was anything but such. People carried on with their lives, blissfully unaware of the horrors and atrocities that would soon unfold in the coming hours. Blissfully unaware of the signs around them.
Off in a nearby house, a young man that stood at 5'8" with brown eyes and black hair woke up to the sound of a blaring alarm clock.
"Takashi! Time to wake up!" a woman yelled from down the hallway. "You're going to have to make your own breakfast, I have to go to work now!"
"Okay, kaa-san!" Takashi replied, getting out of bed. He quickly put his clothes on, which consisted of a black school uniform with a red t-shirt underneath, and black pants.
"*Caw* *Caw*!" Before anything else could be done, Takashi toke note of the loud shrill cries from the birds outside, causing his eyes to turn to his window and watch as birds of all kinds took to the sky as one.
"Huh... That's certainly odd." Takashi mumbled, walking into the kitchen in the house, making a bowl of cereal before he sat down, spoon in one hand and remote in the other.
"-And when he had opened the fourth seal-" was the sound that came from the television. Takashi looked on with a hint of boredom before changing the channel. "-Coming up next, Yo Gabba Gab-" Takashi sighed before changing the channel back to what it was before. "-And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death...
And Hell followed with him."
-With Naruto, Hinata, Hayate, and Yugao-
Fourteen hours had come and gone, their refueling stop at Mather Air Force Base having been over nine hours ago. Hinata had gotten her requested equipment, which consisted of a medical kit, a few books, some rations, and an entire lab's worth of medical equipment. Naruto, on the other hand, from his own request, got a HK416 carbine-assault rifle, courtesy of Croatia, equipped with a hybrid sight, detachable suppressor, tactical flashlight, grip, stock, and four 5.56x45mm NATO thirty-round magazines, along with a Magpul MS3 Gen2 Sling for said HK416.
"Five... Four... Three... Two... One... And we've officially entered Japanese airspace." Hayate called out from the cockpit. (AN: From this point on in the story, all characters will be talking in Japanese, but will be transcribed in English. Anything in English will now be italicized.)
"This is J-Six-Seven. Attention aircraft, you have entered Japanese airspace. Identify yourself or we will be forced to ground your vehicle." a distinctly male voice said over the radio.
"Copy that, call sign 'United we stand, divided we fall'." Hayate said over the radio.
"Confirmation code?" J-6-7 asked.
"Alpha, Zulu, Echo, Foxtrot, Delta, Gamma, Epsilon, four, six, six, three, nine." Hayate responded.
"Alright, you check out." J-6-7 stated.
"Uhh... J-6-7? You wouldn't happen to know the closest airbase or airport that we can set this bird down in and still be near our destination, would you?" Hayate questioned.
"The nearest strip is approximately fifteen clicks south by southeast of the drop zone... why?" J-6-7 questioned.
"Cause I don't think we're gonna have enough fuel to set her down there..." Hayate said, grimacing slightly as he noticed that the plane was flying on reserve fuel, and even that was near empty at this point.
"What seems to be the problem?" J-6-7 asked.
"We're almost out of fuel." Hayate stated, until a beeping sound caught his attention. "Kuso! Something has gotten caught in the engines!"
"A bird maybe?" Yugao questioned.
"Dammit!" Hayate yelled.
"Damn, talk about bad luck. Is there any way that you can get your plane to the designated landing zone?" J-6-7 questioned.
"*BOOM*!" was the sound that shook the airplane.
"I don't think that's gonna be possible at this point." Yugao said. "We just lost engine number two."
"Son of a bitch! Where the fuck do these birds keep coming from?!" Hayate exclaimed. "We can't set her down without running the chance of taking us all out in the process."
"Fuck! Alright, your next best bet would be to set your plane down in Tokonosu Bay then." J-6-7 stated, an F-15J Eagle interceptor jet pulling up to the left of the KC-390. "Follow me, I'll lead you as far as you can fly to the Bay."
"Much appreciated. Is there any place that we can parachute out safely?" Hayate asked.
"At the current direction we're heading in, I'd say... somewhere over Fujimi Academy, maybe. That's the safest location I can think of at the moment." J-6-7 replied.
"Alright, switching into auto-pilot." Hayate said. "If this is the last time we talk J-6-7, thank you."
"Fujimi Academy is going to be coming up in a few minutes." J-6-7 stated. "I'll pull behind so you guys can see from the cargo bay. When I do a barrel roll, that'll be the queue to jump out."
"I knew that bringing along two extra parachutes was the right call." Hayate grinned.
"Yeah, for once your suspicions were proven to be correct." Yugao said jokingly. "Fox! Hinata!"
"Huh?/Wha?" Hinata/Naruto called out, waking out of their slumber, Hinata somehow having made her way on top of Naruto.
"Eep!" Hinata exclaimed, jumping off of Naruto, her face beet red in color.
"As much as I would like to tease you two about this, we've got bigger fish to fry at the moment!" Hayate exclaimed.
"What happened? And how come you two aren't piloting the plane?" Naruto asked.
"Well, we kinda... sorta - ran out of fuel, birds got stuck in the engines, and we're going to crash in Tokonosu Bay." Hayate said with a nervous chuckle, scratching his head as he did so.
"Kuso! This is bad! This is really bad!" Naruto exclaimed.
"We're going to have to jump out of the plane. Luckily we've got four parachutes." Yugao stated, motioning to the two parachutes Hayate and herself wore, and the two parachutes that laid on the ground nearby.
"How long do we have before we have to jump?" Naruto asked.
"A few minutes." Hayate replied.
"Alright." Naruto said, putting on one of the parachutes. Hinata just stood there frozen in fear. "You ever jump out of an airplane before?" he asked.
"Yeah, but not one where the plane was going to crash!" Hinata exclaimed.
"It's the same thing, only there's more explosions and chances of - you know, I should probably stop talking now." Naruto said, handing Hinata the last parachute. "Open the cargo bay doors!"
"On it!" Hayate exclaimed, slamming the button that caused the back of the KC-390 to open up, J-6-7 some distance behind them as promised. "When that plane does a barrel roll, that's our queue to jump! When you all touch the ground, try to make your way to the nurse's office!"
"How do you know if there even is a nurse's office?!" Naruto asked.
"It's a school!" Hayate replied, a deadpan clearly present on his face.
"Oh, right..." Naruto said sheepishly.
"Oh god! I don't know if I can do this!" Hinata exclaimed.
"It's okay, you can do this." Naruto said, grabbing her hand in assurance.
"Come on... Come on..." Hayate muttered. J-6-7 then did a barrel roll. "That's our queue! Jump! Now!" he exclaimed, jumping out of the plane, quickly followed by Yugao.
"We have to jump now, I'll be right behind you!" Naruto yelled. Hinata took a deep breath before jumping out of the plane. "Here goes nothing!" he muttered, running out of the plane.
-With Takashi, Five Minutes Earlier-
Takashi leaned against the railing of one of the school's stairways as he normally would most days, reminiscing on his days as a child.
Flashback Start
"Nii-san! Nii-san!" Takashi exclaimed. Whenever Takashi tried remembering who this 'nii-san' of his was, all he could remember was spiky blond hair.
-One Year Later-
Takashi could barely remember what had happened that year. But what he could remember was being taking from his 'nii-san' and moving out to Japan.
"Hi there!" a childish voice exclaimed, the owner of said voice being a young girl about the same age as he was with orangy-brown hair with two strands of hair sticking up and reddish-brown eyes.
"Bwah!" Takashi exclaimed in surprised.
"Ha! Scared ya!" the girl exclaimed, causing a tick mark to appear on Takashi's head.
"Did not! I just didn't see you there!" Takashi denied.
"Who are you? I've never seen you around here before." the girl asked.
"I'm Takashi, who are you?" Takashi asked.
"I'm Rei! Rei Miyamoto! Nice to meet you!" Rei exclaimed, extending her hand to Takashi.
-Two Years Later-
"I'm gonna be your wife, Takashi!" Rei exclaimed.
"Really? You serious?!" Takashi questioned.
"Yeah!" Rei replied, nodding her head. "Pink promise..."
-Seven Years Later-
"Why do you have to repeat a grade? You're a Straight-A student..." Takashi stated.
"You wouldn't understand, Takashi." Rei said, walking away from her best friend.
"Well, we're in the same class again. That's great!" a young man said. The man was none other than Hisashi Igou, a black belt in karate.
-Four Months Later-
Takashi was walking down the street when he noticed Rei and Hisashi. He was about to go and say hi, but stopped when he saw Rei kiss Hisashi. Then and there, Takashi knew that he was too late.
Flashback End
"Pinky promise..." Takashi muttered. "I'll make you swallow a thousand needles if you lie..."
"Are you an idiot?!" a feminine voice called out. Takashi looked behind him to find another one of his childhood friends, Saya Takagi. Saya was a girl of under-average height, standing at 5'1" with bikini model sized breasts, a slender physique, long pink hair that she kept in two ponytails on either side of her head, and orange eyes. She, like most female students at Fujimi Academy, wore the female school uniform.
"Takagi-chan..." Takashi said.
"Every time you have to face the truth you always escape to this same place. You're like an elementary kid." Saya stated. "The first semester's already started, look at yourself." she said, walking over to Takashi and involuntarily leaning down so that he had a clear view of her cleavage. "At this rate, you will need to get ready for summer school, if not repeat a grade."
"The same goes for you. Fifth period isn't even over." Takashi stated, looking away with a slight tint of red on his face.
"It's fine since I'm a genius. However, you getting into this school was just a stroke of dumb luck." Saya stated.
"Hey Takagi, why do you always pick on me?" Takashi asked.
"I hate idiots. Especially the ones that are in denial over it." Saya replied. "You're an idiot alright, but at least you know you are. So if I tell you that you're an idiot, maybe you will be less of an idiot, idiot." she finished, only to find Takashi brooding once more. "What's the deal? Just because you got dumped by your best friend. Idiot..." she muttered before walking off, Takashi's mind wandering back to the past.
Flashback Start
"About you, Takashi..." Rei started. "I really felt that way once, but you didn't really notice..."
Takashi just sat in silence, taking in the information that he was just told, his fears having been confirmed. He was too late.
Flashback End
"So what?" Takashi muttered.
"*Clang*!" was the sound that broke Takashi out of his trance. Near the front gate of the school was a spaced-out man that kept running into the gate.
"Who is that suspicious person?" Takashi questioned. Soon enough, five of the teachers approached the gates. The first was the ping-pong club's adviser, Kyoko Hayashi. Kyoko stood at 5'7" and had light brown eyes with glasses, reddish-brown hair which she keeps in a loose ponytail with long strands hanging down in front of each ear and a full figure with large breasts. The next person was Teshima the physical education teacher. Tejima was a tall man, standing at 5'11" with black hair. He wore a light blue shirt with a high collar and black pants. The third teacher he saw was Iruka Umino, the advisor to the track and field club. Iruka stood at 5'8" and wore a green unzipped hoodie, a black t-shirt, black pants, and a necklace that held a dolphin-shaped charm. The last two teachers he didn't recognize, though.
"What do you want?" Kyoko demanded as the five teachers made their way to the front gate. "Don't try anything funny!"
"It's okay, Kyoko-chan. Probably just another one of those drug addicts or someone who's lost." Iruka stated, turning to the man that kept running into the gate. "Excuse me, sir? Are you lost or looking for someone?" he asked. The man ignored his question in favor of running into the gate.
"We tried diplomacy, Iruka-sensei, now let me handle this." Tejima said, roughly grabbing the man by his jacket lapel and slamming him into the gate that he had run into multiple times.
"Wait, Tejima-sensei!" Kyoko exclaimed, shocked at her co-worker's brutality. "Violence is strictly prohibited-" Whatever she was about to say was cut off when the man, in one swift movement, grasped Tejima's arm and bit him.
"Gah!" Tejima exclaimed, dropping to the ground and writhing around in agony. A few seconds later, Tejima stopped moving.
"H-He's dead." one of the teachers stated.
"From this kind of wound?!" the second teacher questioned.
"Kyoko-chan! Go call the police! Gabriel, Trevor, and I will try to-" Iruka started, only to stop when Tejima began twitching.
"Tejima-sensei! Are you alright?!" Kyoko exclaimed as she attempted to move towards Tejima, but was stopped by Iruka's hand.
"Hold on a second, something doesn't seem right..." Iruka said, both himself and Kyoko backing away from the recently deceased man. His theory was proven accurate when Tejima's eyes snapped open, revealing two milky gray orbs that looked in random directions.
"Tejima-sensei! Thank goodness-" Kyoko said, her words faltering when Tejima grabbed one of the other teachers and chomped down on his neck, blood spilling through the air as his canines tore through the man's flesh. "AAAHHH!" Kyoko shrieked. She stood there petrified, and would have stayed that way had Iruka not grabbed her hand and started running.
"Snap out of it, Kyoko-chan! We need to evacuate the students quickly!" Iruka exclaimed, looking back at the thing that was once his friend Tejima, only to find the creature gnawing at the badminton club advisor, the advisor of the shuffleboard club having flopped down on the ground in shock.
Takashi watched the entire series of events unfold right before his eyes.
'Rei!' Takashi mentally exclaimed, pushing off from his leaning position against the railing, running off to find his childhood friend and crush. With a near inhuman speed, Takashi sprinted down the hallway, slamming the door to one of the classrooms open. This in turn caught the attention of two of Takashi's friends, Rei Miyamoto and Hisashi Igou. Rei now stood at 5'5", her hand having grown to reach midway down her back. She had a slender figure, and ample breasts. She wore the Fujimi Academy female school uniform.
Hisashi, though, hadn't changed that much, only having grown a few inches to now stand at 5'10".
"Komuro! Not satisfied with just skipping class?!" the teacher yelled.
"Come with me. We're going to get out of here." Takashi said, walking up to Rei and ignoring the teacher.
"W-What are you talking about?" Rei questioned.
"What is this all about, Takashi?" Hisashi asked.
"It's serious, people were just killed at the entrance." Takashi stated, eliciting a gasp of shock from all.
"Are you serious?" Hisashi questioned.
"What would I gain from lying about something like this?" Takashi retorted.
"What's going on?! I can never understand what's going on in your he-" Rei started, only to be cut off when a strange sound was heard. Takashi was about to slap sense into Rei, but he too stopped when he heard the strange noise. The sound appeared to be coming from somewhere outside, causing the entire class to go to the window to try and spot the source of the sound. Gasps of shock came from all when a KC-390 appeared a few miles away, smoke and flames coming out of its two engines, an F15-J Eagle interceptor jet right behind it. Whispers and murmurs began floating through the air among the students as a white parachute was seen, followed by a second, then a third, and finally a fourth parachute.
Hisashi looked at Takashi in a new light, finding the seriousness and conviction in his friend.
"Come on, let's go." Hisashi said, grabbing Rei's hand and motioning for Takashi to follow them as they made their way out of the classroom.
"Just what's going on?! Who are those people that jumped out of that plane?!" Rei asked as they made their way down the hallway.
"I don't know about those people that jumped from the plane, but there was someone at the entrance. The P.E. teachers went to check it out and something happened. And now those P.E. teachers are killing each other." Takashi replied.
"That's insane..." Rei said, Hisashi having guided them to one of the closets.
"What? Did you forget something?" Takashi asked.
"If what you told me is true, we'll need weapons, right?" Hisashi questioned, twisting a mop handle and breaking it off so that the end that was broken off was sharp and pointed. "Here, Rei." he said, giving Rei the mop handle.
"What about you?" Takashi questioned.
"I've got a black belt in karate. I know I don't look it..." Hisashi stated. "Anyway, let's get out of the school."
"Let's call the police. My father's there, too." Rei said.
"School rules are there to be broken, right?" Takashi questioned, handing Rei his cell phone. Rei flipped the phone open and dialed 1-1-0.
"... No way..." Rei muttered after a minute.
"What's up?" Takashi asked.
"The lines are busy... That's impossible." Rei stated.
"This announcement is for all students." the principal said over the announcement speaker. "A violent incident is taking place in the school now! All students must evacuate in accordance with their teachers instructions! I repeat, a violent incident is taking place in the school now!"
"So, they finally realized it..." Takashi mumbled.
"All students must evacuate according-" the announcement was cut off by a thud sound, leaving an eerie silence in its wake.
"This is bad." Takashi said.
"Help me! Stop it! Please help!" the principal exclaimed over the announcement speaker.
"Hirano?" Saya called out, causing the boy who was trying to crawl out of the classroom to freeze up. Kohta Hirano stood at 5'2" and was overweight. He had shoulder-length black hair that had bangs reaching down from the side of his temples stretching outwards and obscuring the sides of his face. He also had brown eyes and, like Takashi, wore the student uniform.
"Takagi-san-" Kohta started.
"Shh! Let's run." Saya whispered.
"It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!" the principal exclaimed. "Help me! I'm gonna die!" The screams that came from the man as he was killed were so loud that it woke the sleeping beauty that was the school's nurse.
"Huh?" the woman called out. The woman stood at 5'9" with blond hair that went down past her waist, and hazel eyes. Her physique was most pronounced by her humongous J-cup breasts that threatened to burst out of the white dress shirt she wore, which was accompanied by a brown skirt.
The entire school became eerily quiet, the sound of a piece of chalk smashing onto the floor being the only sound that pierced the veil of silence. Like clockwork, widespread panic ensued amongst students and faculty alike as everyone rushed through the hallways in an attempt to escape.
"This way!" Hisashi exclaimed, running through the near empty hallway.
"Aren't we going outside?!" Takashi questioned.
"The classroom building is too crowded! We're gonna escape through the management building!" Hisashi replied.
"Hisashi is right, so do what he says!" Rei said.
"Fine then, alright." Takashi conceded, following after Rei and Hisashi.
-With Naruto and Hinata-
Naruto and Hinata finally touched down atop the school's roof, only a dozen yards apart from each other.
"You alright, Hinata-chan?" Naruto asked, pulling the parachute off his back.
"Yes, I'm fine, Naruto-kun." Hinata replied. Before anything else could be said, a distinct feminine screech pierced the air.
"We gotta move quickly before those things are on our position!" Naruto stated, grabbing his Glock 21 out of its holster and switching the safety off. "Stay close to me, Hinata-chan." he said.
"Right!" Hinata said, quickly following behind Naruto.
-With Yugao and Hayate-
Yugao and Hayate landed on top of the adjacent building, quickly shedding their parachutes.
"Looks like Fox and Hinata are on the next rooftop." Yugao stated.
"I think we have a more pressing problem at hand..." Hayate said, looking down to find the undead infecting others around them.
"Oh my God... What are those things?!" Yugao questioned, placing her hands over her mouth.
"Zombies?" Hayate suggested.
"Now is not the time for joking, Hayate-kun." Yugao stated.
"No, no, no, think about it for a sec. Look at them closely..." Hayate said, Yugao doing so. And her boyfriend was right, these creatures did behave similar to how zombies would.
"... Do you really think these things are zombies?" Yugao asked.
"The fuck if I know, but whatever they are, they're pretty damn close to such." Hayate stated.
"I have a feeling that Fox and Hinata are somehow tied into this." Yugao said as they made their way to the stairwell.
"Well, there's only one way to find out for sure..." Hayate trailed off, determined to get the answers they were looking for from two particular CIA and CDC agents.
-With Takashi, Rei, and Hisashi-
The three students quickly made their way outside, only to find one of the teachers shuffling around aimlessly.
"Isn't that the modern Japanese teacher, Wakisaka?" Rei questioned.
"Be careful, it's-" Hisashi said, noticing the river of blood coming down the side of its leg. The boy was too late with his warning, though, when the undead creature that was once the modern Japanese teacher rushed at Rei.
"No! Stay away!" Rei yelled, swinging her makeshift weapon around to ward off the creature.
"Stab him, Rei! Don't hesitate, give it your all!" Hisashi yelled, causing Rei to freeze up slightly. This temporary freeze up was quickly broken when the creature pushed at Rei.
"Noooo!" Rei exclaimed, steeling her resolve before pushing the creature back. "Don't underestimate-" she started, slamming her weapon into the creature. "-the spear martial arts club!" Rei finished, stabbing the mop handle into the creature's chest.
"You did it!" Takashi cheered, only for his eyes, along with Rei's and Hisashi's, to widen in shock when the creature began moving again, making Rei loose her grip on the mop handle.
"Impossible! I just stabbed him through the heart, so why is he still moving?!" Rei exclaimed. Hisashi acted fast, grabbing the creature from behind.
"Rei, pull it out now!" Hisashi said, Rei complying with his demand and pulling the mop handle out.
"Hisashi, get away from him!" Takashi exclaimed.
"No worries! I can take him-" Hisashi started, only to go silent when the creature's head turned a full 180o degrees. "What the..." Hisashi said, grabbing the creature's head in an attempt to stop it from facing him. "How is he so strong?!" he questioned. A scream came from the boy when the creature sunk its teeth into Hisashi's arm.
"Hey, you! Get the hell off of Hisashi!" Takashi exclaimed, slamming the baseball bat he held on the creature, but to no avail as the creature's mouth still had its vice grip on Hisashi's arm.
"Hisashi!" Rei exclaimed, impaling the creature with the mop handle. "Why? Why doesn't he let go?!"
"I knew it..." Takashi mumbled. "He is dead... He's dead, yet he's still able to move!" The creature finally took notice of the other two students and unhinged itself from Hisashi's arm, blood flying through the air from the wound.
"Hisashi!" Rei exclaimed, dropping the mop handle. She was about to rush over to her boyfriend, but was halted when a bullet went whizzing by, a small blood red hole appearing in the creature's head. The creature dropped to the ground, seemingly dead... again. Rei quickly took this opportunity to rush over to Hisashi, slinging the boy's arm over her shoulder to support him. Takashi, Rei, and Hisashi all looked at the recently killed creature before looking in the direction of where the shot came from.
On top of the school's roof was Naruto and Hinata, a small trickle of smoke coming from the barrel of the Glock 21 that Naruto held in his right hand.
"Hisashi! Are you alright?!" Rei asked.
"He just tore off a bit of flesh." Hisashi replied. "It's nothing to worry about."
"Who is that guy?" Takashi questioned, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the mop of blond hair that the man had, a sense of familiarity washing over him. 'Who is that guy...' he mentally repeated.
-With Naruto and Hinata-
"How did you do that?!" Hinata questioned.
"I've had my fair share of firearms training and firefights. Doing that was like shooting fish in a barrel to me." Naruto replied as he holstered his Glock 21.
"Why though?" Hinata asked.
"I don't know what you mean." Naruto said.
"Why help those three when you could have just as easily left them to die?" Hinata questioned.
"The more we save, the less creatures there are to deal with." Naruto replied. "Come on, let's try to make our way to those students. Hopefully they'll know how to get to where we need to go."
-With Takashi, Rei, and Hisashi-
"That guy's waving to us." Rei stated, seeing Naruto waving at them.
"I think he's trying to tell us something." Takashi said. He was right as well, seeing Naruto motioning to the trio to come to him.
"Maybe he's telling us to meet him at the observatory!" Hisashi stated.
"NO!" was the cry that came from the ground below as a student was bitten by one of the creatures. "Stop it! Don't bite me!"
"We can't afford to deal with a bunch of them like that." Takashi stated.
"The rooftop it is then." Hisashi said.
"The rooftop?" Rei questioned.
"That guy up there is probably our safest bet at the moment, plus we could barricade ourselves until we can come up with a better strategy." Hisashi stated.
-With Hayate and Yugao-
The duo swiftly maneuvered their way through the desolate hallways, the majority of the students and faculty having attempted to make their way out of the building via the nearest exits.
"Hold up!" Hayate exclaimed in a whisper like tone.
"What is it?" Yugao asked, her voice a whisper like Hayate's.
"Footsteps." Hayate muttered. His theory was proven accurate when the duo looked down the staircase to find Takashi, Hisashi, and Rei running up towards them.
"Hold right where you are! Who are you three?!" Yugao called out, catching the attention of the three students.
"Who's there?!" Takashi called out.
"Up here, and try to keep your voices down." Hayate said, Takashi, Hisashi, and Rei making their way up to the two pilots.
"I'll ask again, who are you three?" Yugao questioned.
"Takashi Komuro." Takashi replied.
"Hisashi Igou." Hisashi added.
"Rei Miyamoto." Rei said.
"Could you be so kind as to tell us who you two are? I've never seen either of you two here at the school before." Hisashi asked.
"Hayate Gekko, United States Air Force Senior Airman." Hayate replied.
"Yugao Uzuki, United States Air Force Airman First Class." Yugao replied. Little over a second after the pilot duo introduced themselves, something clicked in Takashi's head.
"Wait a sec, you two were the ones that jumped out of that airplane earlier!" Takashi stated.
"Yeah, our plane was going down, and we had high priority personnel that we needed to bring into this city." Hayate stated.
"A woman with dark blue-ish hair-" Yugao started.
"And a tall blond man." Hayate finished. "You three see anyone like that?"
"Actually, yeah, we did." Hisashi replied. "They're up near the observatory. That's where we were heading to."
"Do you mind if we join you? I've got a few questions that need answers from those two." Hayate asked.
"Alright, but we have to hurry." Hisashi said. "Let's move."
"Right." Rei said, the three students and two pilots making their way out to the rooftop.
-With Naruto and Hinata-
"What are you doing?" Naruto quietly asked, the sound of firing off his Glock 21 having drawn in a dozen or so of the creatures.
"Just testing a little theory of mine." Hinata replied, holding a metal pipe in one hand and an incredibly small chunk of concrete in the other. "Could you possibly help me?"
"Well, that depends on what you're trying to test." Naruto whispered.
"I need you to throw this concrete chunk at one of those things." Hinata said, handing Naruto the item in question. "Aim for the head."
"I'm not sure about this..." Naruto said.
"Doctor's orders." Hinata retorted, a sly grin on her face.
"... Alright, fine." Naruto conceded, pelting one of the creatures in the head with the concrete pebble. The concrete slammed into its head, but the creature didn't react. "Now what?"
"Throw this pipe at that corner of the roof." Hinata ordered, handing Naruto the metal pipe. The blond CIA agent did as told, chucking the metal pipe to the opposite side of the roof, the audible clanging sound when it impacted against the ground causing all of the creatures to turn and move in the direction of the sound. "Just as I thought. These creatures are relying on some type of echolocation."
"Uhh..." Naruto said confusingly.
"They react to sound. Though I'd need to run a few more tests before I can solidify my hypothesis." Hinata stated, watching as a few of the creatures actually tripped and fell off the edge of the rooftop.
"Suppressors it is, then." Naruto stated, pulling out his Glock 21 and his suppressor, swiftly attaching the latter to the former.
The sound of a nearby door being slammed open caught the attention of both Naruto, Hinata, and the creatures. Takashi, Rei, Hisashi, Hayate, and Yugao had finally made their way up to the rooftop, the sun in the sky having begun to set on the horizon.
"What the hell is going on?" Takashi asked, looking out to the city, only to find smoke, fire, and all-around chaos below.
"Things were normal until just a minute ago!" Rei said, only to freeze up when a groan was heard a few yards away from her. The group turned to the source of the sound to find six creatures slowly making their way over to them. But just as fast as they saw them, they dropped down dead, each with a bullet-sized hole in their craniums.
"What the hell are you guys just standing around for? Come on!" Naruto called out, causing the group to turn in the direction of the duo. The five wasted no time in making their way over to Naruto and Hinata, grateful for the clear path the duo had made.
"Oh! You're the guy that helped us out a few minutes ago!" Rei stated.
"Agent Fox! Hinata! You two better start explaining. Now!" Hayate yelled in anger.
"What do you mean-" Naruto asked.
"Cut the fucking bullshit! You two knew about these creatures and didn't bother telling us!" Hayate exclaimed accusingly.
"What? But that couldn't be possible, these things only started showing up today. There's no way that they'd know about this... right?" Rei questioned.
"... Hinata and myself... we only found out about this nearly a day ago-" Naruto started.
"Yet you didn't bother to tell either of us?!" Hayate questioned.
"It was highly classified, I didn't have the jurisdiction to-" Naruto stated.
"Jurisdiction my ass! You're avoiding the question. Why. Didn't. You. Tell. Us?!" Hayate demanded.
"Look around you!" Naruto yelled, throwing his hands out, motioning to the city below. "This is widespread panic that's going on right now! Do you have any idea how bad the panic would be on a global scale if word of a goddamn mother fucking zombie virus were to reach the public?! You wanna know what our mission was? To find a cure, a vaccine, something that would stop this infection!" A gale of wind suddenly shot across the rooftop, causing Rei's skirt to flop around in violently in the wind. The group looked up, only to find four military helicopters soaring by at very low altitudes.
"A Black Hawk?! The American military?" Takashi questioned.
"Don't count on it, kid. That's not the US." Naruto stated.
"And how do you know that?" Hisashi asked.
"Because every country in the world is dealing with the same problem here. No one can afford to expend any military assets. Those four were probably the Self-Defense Force." Naruto replied.
"Then where did they come from? There's no base around here." Hisashi stated.
"HELP!" Rei called out, waving her hands towards the Black Hawks.
"That's not going to work. There's no way the SDF would fly all this way for nothing." Hisashi said. "They must be on some special mission, like..." he started, motioning to Naruto and Hinata.
"Oh, where are my manners. My name is Hinata Hyuuga." Hinata said.
"Agent Fox." Naruto replied. His eyes wandered down to the wound on Hisashi's arm before widening and aiming his Glock 21 at Hisashi.
"What are you doing?!" Rei yelled, surprised at the sudden turn of actions.
"Your friend here... has he had any contact with those creatures?" Naruto asked.
"One of them bit his arm, but-" Rei replied.
"Then your friend here is infected." Naruto stated, getting widened eyes of shock from the rest of the group. "It's only a matter of time before he turns into one of them."
"He won't-" Rei started, only to be cut off when Hisashi coughed up a glob of blood. "Hisashi! What's wrong?!"
"Hinata! Symptoms!" Naruto said.
"Symptoms... hemoptysis, eyes unfocused, dilating, shortness of breath - how are you feeling?" Hinata questioned.
"Like... I can't... breath..." Hisashi muttered out.
"Anything else?" Hinata inquired.
"My... body feels... weak..." Hisashi stated.
"Fatigue and weakness... How long ago was he bitten?" Hinata asked.
"A-A few minutes ago." Rei stammered out. "But he was just bitten a little, why did it become this bad?"
"It's just like in the movies. It's all over once they bite you." Takashi stated.
"That's a lie! It can't be like in the movies-" Rei exclaimed.
"Take a look around. It's just like in the movies..." Naruto said.
"Takashi, Agent Fox, could you help me?" Hisashi asked, his voice no louder than a whisper.
"Help with what?" Takashi questioned. Hisashi pointed over to the railing.
"If I fall from there, head first, the impact should be enough to split my skull and end it." Hisashi stated.
"What are you saying?!" Rei exclaimed.
"I don't want to become one of them!" Hisashi yelled, coughing up another glob of blood.
"Hisashi! Hisashi!" Rei exclaimed. "No! No!"
"Takashi... Fox... please..." Hisashi pleaded. "I want to be myself till the end..." The boy began coughing violently, falling to the ground writhing in agony.
"Hisashi! Why?!" Rei cried out. "Don't die!" she yelled, sobbing into the unmoving body of Hisashi.
"..." Takashi remained silent, his grip on the bat in his hand tightening. Night had come and gone, and soon enough it was day once more. Naruto finally decided to break the silence, pulling out his knife and walking towards the silent boy.
"It's your call..." Naruto said, extending the hand that held his knife to Takashi. The boy grimaced before steeling his resolve, pushing the knife away in favor of using the bat he held and walking over to Rei.
"Get away from him, Rei." Takashi said.
"Don't! Don't do it!" Rei yelled. "He won't become one! Hisashi won't become one of them! Hisashi is special!"
"Hinata-chan... can you extract a tissue sample?" Naruto asked.
"Hai." Hinata replied, going through her bag until she pulled out a scalpel, a pair of tweezers, and a small palm-sized empty jar.
"Get away from him." Takashi repeated to Rei, Hinata rushing in next to the girl. The doctor worked swiftly, cutting a hole in Hisashi's jacket where he was bitten and extracted a tissue sample, placing the flesh into the jar. Hisashi suddenly began twitching.
"Hisashi? Look Takashi, there's no way he'd die...?" Rei started, only to be grabbed up by Hayate and Yugao when Hisashi stood up. "No! Put me down! Hisashi is okay! Look, he's-" Rei faltered when she saw the dead look in Hisashi's eyes. "Hisashi... What's wrong?" The creature that was once Hisashi began shuffling towards Rei, who was now kicking and screaming in an attempt to break out of the grip Hayate and Yugao had on her. "No... This is not real... This is not real..." Takashi slowly moved towards the creature, raising the bat he held up.
"True, it sure is unbelievable..." Takashi mumbled. "This is ridiculous."
"Takashi..." Rei muttered.
"But..." Takashi started.
"Stop..." Rei said, tears flowing down from her eyes.
"This is reality!" Takashi yelled, releasing a battle cry as he charged at the creature, swinging his bat so that it collided with the creature's face, blood and brain matter splattering from the attack.
"No!" Rei yelled.

Post Notes
AAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDD DONE! I'll just leave it hanging at that! Man... it feels so good to finally write a zombie apocalypse story. I hope you guys like it!
You know, I've thought about what the pairing for Naruto should be for this story, and I've narrowed down the choices to Naruto x Hinata, Naruto x Shizuka, Naruto x Rika, Naruto x Yugao, Naruto x Kyoko, or NaruHarem. I'm leaning more towards the NaruHarem for this fanfic, but I want to know what you guys suggest, see if there are any pairings for Naruto that I haven't thought of (No Yaoi).
Who is Takashi's 'nii-san'? Who is on Naruto's hitlist? Who is J-6-7? What has caused this outbreak? Why am I asking so many questions? What makes me think that asking you will provide me with the answers that I already know of? When will they make the real World War Z that is based off of what happens in the book? When will the zombie apocalypse truly happen?
