Chapter 19. Interrogation

Third Person's POV

Previously...

"Rosalie," Emmett said with dominance in his voice. "You need to let her go." He continued firmly, though it was a wonder to himself how he was able to sound so calm. He certainly didn't feel it.

"Why should I?" Rosalie demanded.

"Because, I have the feeling there is more to this than what she's told us." Emmett replied sternly.

With that Rosalie dropped Alice onto the floor and silence descended onto the house once more.

Now...

Nobody said anything following Emmett's suspicions, instead all eyes were on Alice.

"Alice...is he...is he right?" Esme asked her daughter, her voice shaking with emotion.

Alice merely scoffed.

"Of course not, he's just grieving for Bella." Alice denied sternly.

"I find it interesting that you're not," Rosalie replied sternly. "I mean, you always said that you loved Bella like a sister and yet...no heart breaking sobs of grief are happening." Rosalie continued, glaring down on Alice with growing disdain.

Alice got to her feet before glaring at Rosalie.

"Well obviously I'm in shock." Alice replied angrily.

Jasper saw right through the lie and he didn't even need to be an empath for it.

"I'm feeling many things from you, Alice. Shock and grief aren't in there." Jasper stated coldly.

Alice looked around the room, it was clear to all that she was hoping for someone to save her from the interrogation she had just been sucked into.

"I didn't know what Victoria was going to do okay. Not for certain, I just knew she wanted payback for James." Alice replied throwing her hands up in the air as she went. Giving the appearance of having just been told the most boring news in the world.

Everyone looked at her in shock.

"Are you kidding me, Alice?" Kate questioned, looking at Alice as if she had just grown a second head as she leapt to her feet. "Have you forgotten how distraught you were when you got here 14 years ago? Because I haven't! There wasn't a day that went by for over a year where you weren't constantly bitching at Edward and shrieking at him to go back to Forks. Now you act as if she was nothing more than some bug that got on your overly priced shoes, which are hideous by the way." Kate ranted.

It wasn't until Kate insulted her footwear that left everyone in the room no doubt as to where Alice's concerns truly lay.

"Bella was going to die before her 21st birthday regardless if Victoria went after her or not. If it wasn't Victoria killing her it would have been some horrific car accident that resulted in her and that pile of junk she called a truck going off of one the cliffs in Forks. Why cry over spilled milk now? If anything Victoria probably did her a favour, I saw Bella lying at the bottom of those jagged rocks half alive for about an hour before doing the decent thing and giving up." Alice spat back coldly. "And my shoes are the cutest, unlike your fugly shit." She added as an afterthought.

Kate looked ready to launch herself at Alice but a blur shooting past the electrified vampire took her by surprise.

"Esme!" Several voices screamed at once in shock.

The room watched in shock as Esme began to scratch and claw at Alice in a frantic frenzy.

"My daughter!" Esme screamed as she continued her assault on the Seer.

At his mate's distress, Carlisle snapped out of his shock and tackled his mate off of the Seer and to the floor. As soon as Esme was off of Alice the anger disappeared as soon as it appeared and Esme began to sob hysterically in her mate's arms. Emmett on the other hand took that moment to descend on Alice, his bulky frame appearing to fill the whole room as his eyes flashed with dangerous levels of rage that Jasper had a very difficult time keeping in check.

"A favour? You call what Victoria did a favour, Alice! That crazy bitch murdered her parents right in front of her!" Emmett said with a snarl so powerful that everyone backed away from him.

Emmett had always been the fun loving, easy going kind of vampire. Nobody had ever truly seen him angry before but now he was positively murderous. In half the time it takes a heart to beat, Emmett had Alice dangling in the air by her throat and looking every bit the monster that vampires could be.

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't follow Victoria's example and rip your black heart right out of you." Emmett hissed dangerously, finally driving the point home to Alice that she was in very real danger now.

"Jasper..." Alice pleaded.

"Bella was as much my sister as she was Emmett's." Jasper replied darkly, his face showing nothing but disgust.

Emmett grinned evilly before Eleazar appeared and grabbed hold of Emmett's wrist, shocking everyone in the room a new.

"Eleazar, don't take this the wrong way but what the fuck do you think you're doing?" Emmett growled.

"I can assure you that nothing would be more fitting than to turn her into ash myself, but this needs to be sent onto the Volturi, Emmett. Alice had the power to see what Victoria was doing; the danger of our secret being discovered by the humans still lingers from Victoria's actions and lack of action from Alice. We need to make plans, ensure that our secret is kept and until we have that assurance Alice must live." Eleazar reasoned with Emmett.

Rosalie watched her mate's face contort with more rage before he threw Alice away from him, catapulting her the opposite end of the house.

"You spared her, you watch her." Emmett growled menacingly into Eleazar's face before stalking over to Rosalie and pulled her into his arms and whispering deep apologize for scaring her.

While Emmett profusely apologized to his mate the rest turned their attention to Alice and could only look at her in disgust. Alice meanwhile simply looked at the floor thinking how Bella had always been nothing more than a stupid human anyway.

A/N: Thank you for your very long patience, once again I had hoped to extend on this but kept coming up on empty. Will be back with Bella and Eric in the next chapter.
