I do not own the characters or the show, that belongs to the writers, producers, actors, etc...
This is just a work of my own imagination, and the fact that I was very upset with Beth being killed, so I am pretending it never happened.
This is my first story, so it might not be that great, but please give it a chance, and let me know what you think.
Chapter One
Two months. It had been two months since Grady. Two months since Daryl had Beth back. He would never let her out of his sight for more than a few moments. If she was gone for too long he would start to get antsy.
When they first got Beth back, everyone began to notice that Beth and Daryl were a lot closer than what they had been. Almost everyone could tell that they were beyond more than friends, though Beth and Daryl seemed to think no one but them knew what was really going on. He would always keep an eye on her, volunteering to stay behind and watch Judith with her, when the others went on runs. Daryl knew she could handle herself, but deep down he was terrified of what would happen if he took his eyes off of her for more than five minutes.
About a month after they got Beth back, they found a new neighborhood that was being built, a few miles into South Carolina. With ten completed houses, all very close to each other. The houses were fairly large and contemporary; all filled with furniture for showings. There were lots that had been cleared to build other houses on, before the world all went to hell. They even found a whole bunch of equipment and materials that had been left when the nightmare began; they quickly discovered the neighborhood was an experimental solar powered housing development, meaning they would have electricity. The group searched all the houses, but they could find no signs of them having been touched. Rick decided for the group to all stay in one of the houses for the night, and in the morning to come up with a plan.
After much debate, by everyone, they decided to stay in the little neighborhood. Winter would be coming soon, and having guaranteed shelter, was much better than being on the run. They had started to build a wall around the neighborhood, to try and fortify themselves from the walkers and anyone else. The group split up into the different houses, Rick, Carl, Judith, and Michonne in one house; Maggie, Glenn, and Beth in another; Tyreese, Sasha, Gabriel, and Carol in another; Rosita, Abraham, Eugene, and Tara stayed together; with Daryl taking a house to himself, though everyone knew Beth was always there.
They had found a truck, an SUV, a couple of cars, and four wheelers nearby, and had found three towns that had not been to heavily raided, where they were able to get many supplies; many of which they had not had in months or years.
After about a month of living in the neighborhood, that they decided to call "Graceland," because Beth had joked that it had been their saving grace and the name stuck, Maggie got tired of her and Daryl sneaking around and finally yelled to Beth one morning when she was sneaking back in, "Would you quit acting like you and Daryl haven't been gettin' it on since we got you back? Y'all are the worst damn actors I've ever seen."
Beth just sat there with her mouth slightly open, she really thought that nobody knew. So Beth went to go find Daryl workin on the wall and tell him that everyone had known all along about them being together. When she got to the wall, he had sweat glistening off his biceps, but he still wouldn't take that vest off in front of the others, no matter how hot he got. He still wasn't too open about his past, and didn't want everyone staring at his scars. Beth couldn't help but appreciate how damn sexy he looked doing construction, starting a heat in her that she knew he'd help her handle later.
She walked up to him and flashed him one of her little grins, "Well, Mr. Dixon looks like you've been doing a lot of work."
Daryl had seen her walking over, and damn if she wasn't the most beautiful thing he had ever seen; he was still shit with words, but he tried his best to always tell her how beautiful she was. It took all of his will power not to grab her and kiss her when she flashed him her little smile, "Thought I wasn't gonna see you till later tonight?"
"Well….about that. You see apparently we aren't as good of actors as we thought," he just stared at her with raised eyebrows, "what do you mean Beth?"
"I mean Maggie all but screamed at me that we were shit actors, and that everyone figured it out long ago that we had been seeing each other."
He looked at her a little dumbstruck for a moment before finally asking, "So your sister ain't gonna come kill me or nothin'?"
"I guess not, if she has known for this long, if she was gonna kill you, she would've already."
He stood there for awhile thinking about what all this meant; they could spend more time together, not constantly looking over their shoulders, he wouldn't have to lay in bed at night wondering if she was okay, she could stay with him. That idea seemed to send him into some sort of haze. Was he ready to live with her all the time? He still wasn't good with public affection, or talking, but he cared about her more than anything. He would have to think about it for a while before asking her. Would she even want to live with him? Would the others be okay with them being a thing, but not with them living together?
Daryl had so many thoughts swarming through his mind, when Beth touched his arm, "Daryl, Daryl, Daryl!"
His eyes snapped up to hers, "Huh?"
"I said now we can stop hiding things all the time, and just be us," and she smiled that smile that made him weak at the knees, and her eyes shined like the Georgia summer sky. Beth could tell when he zoned out that something was bothering him, he probably assumed she would want to make a big show of their relationship, but she knew that wasn't who he was, and if she was being honest, she preferred their private moments.
She leaned up and kissed him on the cheek, "I'll see you later. I gotta go get Judith from Carol, but I'll come by your place a little after sundown." And off she went; all afternoon Daryl knew he would be lost in so many different thoughts about Beth, him and Beth, the future, and how long would it be before something could come and ruin this little bit of peace they had found. It had been two months since they had gotten Beth back, but he still lived in fear that someone would try and take her again, and he couldn't handle losing her, not now, not ever.
