This is my first time doing something like this, so be kind!
Also, if I owned Skip Beat! I wouldn't be writing on here ;)
The jet was opulent luxury. Stark white leather seats, gold accents, rich mahogany paneling on the walls, and a man dressed, rather conservatively, in a suit and a black fur coat smoking a cigar sat across from a 15 year old Kuon. He was going back to Japan for the first time in 5 years. Without his parents, without his possessions. Just him and his passport. "A fresh start" the boss called it. He would no longer be Hizuri Kuon, but a character of the bosses choosing. He was nervous, angry, fearful, but full of hope that he would be able to do what he loves, on his own terms. He would dedicate his life to acting, he would be professional and a gentleman. He would keep Kuon in check. I have to. He gripped the watch on his right wrist. For Rick. He leaned over and rested his head against the window. He could almost make out the island in the distance.
The last time he was there he had spent two weeks in Kyoto with his father while he was promoting one of his movies. He didn't want to go, not at first, but his dad was able to convince him and much to Kuon's surprise he did enjoy himself. He had always loved nature and the Ryokan they were staying at was nestled against a forest. They had hardly set their bags down before he dashed out of the Ryokan and into the waiting woods. He remembered the sense of serenity that the area had given to him and longed to feel it again. He looked over at the President of LME who was reading a manga. "Boss," the voice brought Lory out of the wonderful love story he was reading and he glanced at his charge. "Before, we start, can I ask a favor?"
Kuon's arrival in Tokyo was a blur. He given the key to a tiny apartment. "If you want something bigger, you will have to earn it yourself," the president had told him in a no nonsense voice. He was given the company credit card and allowed to purchase a wardrobe befitting his new alter ego, Tsuruga Ren. He met with Miss Jelly Woods to discuss his new look, who lectured at great length about proper skin and hair care, and finally was given a mountain of books for him to begin studying Japanese culture.
However, two days after landing Kuon found himself sitting in the stiff chair of the train speeding out of Tokyo and Kyoto. He had begged the boss to let him go out there for a week prior to beginning his life as Tsuruga Ren, to find a bit of inner peace. The president had wanted him to go as Ren, but the last time he was in Kyoto, he was Kuon and he wanted to still be himself. If he was willing to admit it to himself, it was just in case he saw her again. He knew It was silly she could have moved by now or any number of things, but in case he did run across her, he wanted to give her the opportunity to recognize him. A frown crossed Kuons face. I wonder what she would think of what I have done. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. He placed his head in his hands, knowing it was too late to back out now.
Today had not been a very good day for Mogami Kyoko. It started out when she arrived at school that her desk was missing, for the 6th time that year, her lunch was thrown in the trash, for the 32nd time that year, her sneakers for gym class were tied together and thrown over a telephone line for the 4th time that year, and at least 5 hurtful comments about her plain appearance were thrown out at her. She only scored a 91% on the last math test, not the 100% she had studied so hard for. On top of all of this when she went to find Sho-chan to walk home with him after school he saw her kissing Gima Aimi. She had to bite back the sudden hot surge of anger that coursed through her body. She wasn't sure why she was so mad, but she knew she couldn't let Sho see how upset she was. So she waited for him dutifully by the front gate, like she always did, and by the time he arrived she was able to plaster a pleasant smile on her face and keep up a friendly conversation all the way back to the Ryokan.
Back in her room she was desperate to get out of there and off to Corn's clearing. Quickly she changed into a pair of jeans and a loose t-shirt, and pulled her long black hair into a messy ponytail. The Okami didn't have her scheduled to start work for another few hours, so she knew she had some time. She had grabbed her treasure and stuffed it in her pocket and was running out the door when Sho-chan stopped her.
"Oi, Kyoko, do my English homework for me." He smiled at her.
"No, If you don't do it yourself you will never learn it," Kyoko reasoned back with her friend.
"Aw, come on Kyoko, please," he brushed a lock of hair away from her face and gazed at her. Kyoko's heart beat furiously.
"After work tonight, I'll help you with it, but I won't do it for you. Deal?" Sho frowned a little at that but agreed. "Why can't we do it now?"
"Eh.." Kyoko paused, she couldn't tell him she needed to get away to have a good cry, so she just smiled and said simply. "I want to go for a walk in the woods."
Kuon arrived at the Ryokan in the early afternoon. It wasn't the one he stayed at as a child, but he was happy to note that it was also nestled against the forest. He wondered as he grabbed his small luggage, if he would be able to find the clearing he use to meet Kyoko-chan in. Inside the Okami bowed gracefully to him and showed him to his room, and informed him that dinner would be served at seven-thirty in the dining hall, unless he elected to take it in his room. Thanking the woman he placed his bags and made his way out the back of of the building. The sounds of a strumming guitar stopped him momentarily as he peeked in what looked to be a private bedroom. Inside a boy with blond hair was bent over a guitar, plucking at the strings, sheet music all around the floor. The boy glanced up, gave him a look that said "What are you looking at" and went back to plucking at the strings. Taking a deep breath, Kuon reigned in his temper, and stepped into the awaiting forest. It wouldn't do for him to start beating up little kids. Even when the punk looked like he deserved it.
Kyoko took a little longer getting to the clearing then she normally would. The fairies seemed intent on cheering her up, so she stopped and played with them longer than normal. They did seem to lighten her spirits, and they seemed so excited about something. I wonder what it is. If Corn were her, he would tell me. Her thoughts turned sad as she thought about her friend. I wonder if his wings have grown yet. She pulled the blue stone out of her pocket and watched the light dance off it before closing her fist around it.
"To day, has been a truly awful day Corn."
