Tears In The Rain

A/N: Hello readers me again (I know UGHH!) with a one shot that I've had the idea for, for awhile now. This will be a Navia fanfic my third favorite pairing, and will be an altered version of the ending of the Grand Magic Games were Ultear never casts the spell Last Ages and lives. She forms a relationship with Gray and he leaves Juvia all alone with only Natsu who seems to care. I hope you enjoy! Tears In The Rain:

It has been three months since the Grand Magic Games and the world has finally had a much needed rest from being destroyed. Alot of new things have come out of the Grand Magic Games, Like the announcement of all the new couples! Lucy and Erza, Gajeel and Levy, Laxus and Cana and Gray and Ultear?

Yes Ultear, the time witch was still alive and had formed quite the relationship with Fairy Tail's resident ice mage. Somehow when Ultear was casting the spell Last Ages, Gray had found her and tried to stop her but to no avail. So Gray did the only reasonable thing he could think of. He grabbed Ultear and held on to her with everything he had despite her protests, and miraculously with their combined powers, spared the lives of the fallen and kept their own, allowing them to live along side the others.

Gray's reason for his actions were "Im repaying Ul for saving my life by saving the only piece of her left in this world". Ultear was moved by those words and felt a strange warming sensation in her heart, something she hasn't felt in a long time.

After those events Gray and Ultear got to know one another better, they talked about Ul mostly but also found that they had alot in common. So much so that Gray actually worked up the courage to ask Ultear on a date, a real date her first ever date. Ultear was speachless to say the least. Never has she ever thought of having a boyfriend or settling down, but here was the man she was slowly falling asking her out. She happily complied and the two's relationship blossomed from that point onward.

Through all of this there was one person that Gray left as an after thought, someone he forgot completly about and someone who has now had her heart shattered for the last time...

Juvia Lockser.

Juvia at first thought that this was just a one time thing, Gray and Ultear, and that sooner or later they would part ways and Juvia would have her beloved back, but that day never came. Now Juvia was hold up in her room at Fairy Hill's, Letting her memories of the ice mage eat away at her and destroy her broken heart even further. She never came out, she never talked to anyone and everyone at Fairy Tail was beginning to worry. One of their own was hurting and their was nothing they could do about it.

The whole guild noticed the change in Gray's and Ultear's relationship and couldn't be happier for the two, although all of them had Juvia in the back of their minds as they watched the two grow closer with each passing day. Feeling pity towards the water mage.

The whole guild has tried to get Juvia to come out of her room but it was all in vein, even the male members were allowed entry to try to cheer the rain woman up. Gajeel was the only one who ever got inside the room and what he was told angered him to no end. The truth was finally revealed and now he had a personal vendetta against the ice mage.

After he came out from her room, Gajeel was debating inside of himself whether or not to lash out at Gray. Sure he was a part of his family, but Juvia means more to him than anything. He was his only friend during his time with Phantom Lord and he would be damned if Gray got away with hurting Juvia scott free.

As Gajeel reached the guild hall he felt his blood begin to boil. Laughter could be heard bellowing from the guild and with his enhanced hearing he could clearly make out Gray's voice. He slams the doors open silencing the entire guild in seconds. Gajeel's eyes were glowing a ghastly red and when they finally set on his target the man flinched visibly. Gajeel then in a blinding speed launches himself at Gray and collides his iron cased fist with Gray's face effectively breaking his nose with a sickening crack.

Gray fell back in pain clutching his now brocken nose and began to feel dazed. Gajeel stood over the man. "You..." He said lowly. Gajeel then procceded to lift Gray up by his shirt and hoists him up to eye level. "You...THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Gajeel bellow as he punches Gray in the stomach making him cough up blood and then tosses him across the room effectively knocking him out. Erza immedietly along with Ultear after recovering from shock rush at Gajeel.

"Gajeel what is the meaning of this!" Erza demands as she stares down the dragon slayer sword in hand as Gajeel shook with anger. Gajeel looks up at Erza making the mighty Titania shift under his gaze. Gajeel snarls.

"That fucker over there! Did he even tell you what he did to Juvia to make her so fucking upset! Huh!? Or did he leave that part out and make you all beleave that Juvia just needs time to grief and get over it!? Is that it!" Gajeel says with rage, his magical aura seeping out of him in massive quantites, his iron scales beginning to cover his body.

Erza is taken back by Gajeel's words and was about to retort until Ultear rushed Gajeel with Ice make magic in hand.

"How dare you!" She screams as she was about to catch Gajeel off guard with a sucker punch. Gajeel having no time to react braces for the hit but it never came. Gajeel looks at Ultear and see's her fist being held by Natsu who had an equal amount of rage in his eyes, his eyes also glowing a crimson red, scales around his arms and face and a massive magical aura surrounding him.

"He's right, im on his side. Gray is in the wrong here let him speak." Natsu demands, fire seeming to dance in his eyes and his tone held authority, very uncharacteristic. He then tosses Ultear aside and looks at Gajeel and nods. Gajeel nods back.

"Thanks Salamander... As I was saying that bastard never told us what he really said, I only found out when Juvia let me in her dorm today. She's a fucking mess an emotional mess right now and it fuckin kills me to see her look that way." Gajeel says.

Erza then says lowly. "What did Gray do?" She was glaring at Gray's unconcious body the whole time.

"He fucking broke her. He told her that he never loved her, that he never wanted anything to do with her and that she was the one hurting herself by staying and by still loving him." Gajeel finishes.

Erza as well as everyone in the guild gasps. They didn't know this side of the story and upon hearing it they all felt sympathy towards the water woman and shame at not ever asking for Juvia's side of the story. Erza was left speechless.

"I-I-I didn't know." She says looking at the ground. Ashamed that she never bothered to talk to Juvia one on one and learn her side of the story. She just decided to believe Gray's story and never even bothered to learn Juvia's.

Gajeel spits at Grays body. "Now you do..." He says as he exits the guild with Lily and Levy following closely behind.

The whole guild became deathy silent, no one could comprehend why Gray would have said those things to Juvia. He knew of the love that the woman held for him and still told her the way he did. They actually thought that Gray was beginning to like Juvia back and to now know what Gray has really done, the guild was very dissapointed.

Master Makorov sighs. "Take him to the infirmary." He says as Jet and Droy carry Gray to the sick bay. Natsu then gets up too but not before shooting Ultear a terrifying glare and spitting at Gray's body and heads out the door feeling the need to hit something, His magic still leaking from his body.

Erza then goes up to Master. "What do you think will happen from here?" She questions.

Makorov sighs again. "I don't know child, Gray...I never expected him to act so harshly towards the girl. He knows how much he means to her and yet he decided to tell her in such a manner. I hope she will fogive him. I also hope she Natsu and Gajeel will be okay" He finishes.

Erza looks at the sick bay doors and sighs also. Fairy Tail was going to be different for a while.

That was 8 whole weeks ago and Juvia has yet to come out of her room. The whole guild began to give up hope. Now no one went to her door to try to talk to her anymore, they were all emotionally drained. Gajeel stopped because everytime he saw Juvia in such a state it killed him. He has yet to forgive Gray and said he only will when Juvia does.

Gray and Ultear have tried talking to the woman but that only caused them to return to the guild hall soaking wet. Master has also tried to coax the woman out of her room but has yet to see any results. Hope was beginning to fade for the water mage.

Through all of this Juiva had begun to give up on her life seeing it as one not worth living without her beloved, but one person has kept her from doing so. One person has shown her that someone still cares and that someone still knows she exists...

Natsu Dragneel.

Throughout these 8 weeks Natsu has come to Juvia's door everyday and talked to her about the various things he's been up too and the events at the guild. He tries to get Juvia to talk but he has yet to get a resopnse. Natsu bring's grocery's to Juvia's house every week and is always happy to see when they are gone.

On this day it was no different, Juvia actually began to like it when Natsu came to her door and it became almost like a normality to her. He always came at 8:00 a.m and dropped off groceries or snacks and talked to her for atleast 5 minutes before leaving. Thinking about Natsu brought a small smile to the broken girls lips and despite all that she has been through it seem's that Natsu was the only ray of sunshine in her bleak life. He made her feel not alone, like she mattered and he mattered to her she just didn't want to show it in fear of losing him.

It also confused Juvia when Natsu somehow knew of all of her favorite foods and drinks. He even got her favorite brand of shampoo and body wash. Its like he was trying to comfort her by surrounding her with all of her favorite things and the thought caused a warm feeling to flow through the water womans chest.

When 8 o clock came, Juvia happily waited for the foot steps that signified her hopes presence, she expected to hear Natsu's foot steps coming up the stairs but they never came. It was the start of the 9th week so why wasn't Natsu here? Natsu was never late so why wasn't he here?

Juvia was currently sitting on the floor with her back against the door silently praying that Natsu would come. Minute's soon turned into hour's and still Natsu has not came. "Did he finally give up" Juvia thought sadly as tears began to fall off her her face as she noticed the time being 11:30 a.m.

She began to sob into her hands. The one person who has made her feel anything has finally given up on her, she waited too long to talk to him and now he was gone just like the rest of her family. Now she really does have nothing left to live for. Now she was truely alone...

Juvia's head then snaps up when she hears foot steps coming up the stairs. She put her ear on the door and listened with her heart beating in her ears, Hoping with all of her heart that it was Natsu.

"Hey Erza, just came to see Juvia again, how's it going?" She hears Natsu ask Erza through the door.

"Im fine Natsu thank you for asking. Me and Lucy are going to take a job and Happy said he wanted to come along, do you want to come?" Juvia hears Erza ask Natsu cauisng her breath to hitch. "Please say no, please say no." Juvia thinks with her eyes shut tight waiting for Natsu's answer.

"Sorry Erza but im already late, I was supposed to talk to Juvia hours ago. I'll sit this one out." As Natsu says this Juvia feels her heart soar. Natsu blew off two females to be with her and it made her feel a warm feeling in her heart, something she hasn't felt since him.

Juvia then hears Erza sigh. "Okay Natsu if thats what you want. I'll be going now." Juvia could've sworn Erza sounded irratated but just brushed it off as she heard Erza leave.

Natsu sighs and kneels down on the floor while setting something down by the door. "Hey Juvia since im late im going to stay abit longer today, so im going to go down the hall and face away from your door, once im there I want you to grab the stuff I brought you and then knock when its okay for me to look, okay?" Natsu says as he stands up and heads across the hall.

As Juvia hears Natsu get up and go across the hall, She very hesitantly opens the door and quickly pulls in the bags and a basket into her room, not without sneaking a glance at Natsu who kept his word and was facing away from her on the other side of the hall.

Once situated Juvia knocks on the door and hears Natsu come back. Natsu then takes a seat across from her door and stares at it. The toll of the past weeks taking their effects on him.

"It's been a rough past couple of weeks huh." Natsu says. "I wish you would come out already and show Gray and Ultear that your okay and that you dont need Gray to be happy. I know your stronger than this." Natsu says lowly but his voice still held determination.

Juvia just sat and listened her gaze anchored on the floor, she began to fidget with her fingers wanting to reply but couldn't work up the nerve to do so.

"I know what your going through, I've gone through the exact same thing when I lost Igneel and Lissanna. Maybe not on the same scale but its pretty close. You feel abondoned, unwanted, you think "What did I do to deserve this?" I can honestly tell you that at one point I actually considered ending it all. Leaving the people I love behind as not to ever feel that pain again, to leave and live a life of solitude. The pain was too great and it hurt me so much, so I decieded to isolate myself as to never feel that pain again. People see me as the happiest guy in the world, but what they didn't know was that it was all a mask." Natsu says.

Juvia is shocked by Natsu's words and hears him continue. "But I want you to know that your not alone, im here for you and I always will be. Family is what saved me and I know that everyone thinks that you can't be helped but I wont give up, I'll never give up. It pains me to see the people I care about hurt and everytime I come here and dont hear your voice it makes my heart crack."

Juvia is touched by these words. Never has any man showed her such affection or kindness, always she was left alone and broken but here with Natsu she actually felt whole.

"Never give up hope because the minute you give up hope is when you lose everything, and I want you to know that there's someone out here routin for ya. I always will be and when you decide to finally come out, I'll be the first one to greet you and tell you everything will be okay...I promise." Natus finishes standing up and placing a hand on her door.

Juvia began to tear up again. "Oh Natsu-san you have no idea what you do to Juvia." She thinks.

"I have to go now. I promised Happy I'd catch him a fish for dinner. Take care and one more thing, Theirs a suprise in that basket seeing as it's your birthday and all. That's what took me so long. I hope you like it and...happy birthday." Natsu says as he began walking away from Juvia's door, a blush covering his face.

Juvia is shocked to find out that Natsu remembered her birthday. Gajeel snuck in a card and her favorite chocolate's but beside's that no one else even bothered to remembered. Juvia then looks at the basket and see's a long velvet case and grabs it. She opens it shakily and puts a hand over her mouth and gasps with tears falling from her eyes.

It was a golden necklace with a massive sapphire gemstone trimmed with gold hanging off of it with what seemed to be a live fire inside. Juvia has never seen anything more beautiful. There was also a folded note under the case. She carefully unfolds the note and reads it aloud.

"Happy birthday Juvia! I hope you like the necklace, when I saw it I couldn't help but think of you and how beautiful you are. Well anyways I want you to stay stong and get through this so we can show that Ice princess who's boss. The fire inside the stone is my very own. As long as you feel its warmth you know that someone is thinking of you and waiting for you when your ready. Happy birthday again Juvia!" Juvia couldn't believe her eyes. She sets the note down and stares at the marvolous necklace in her hand.

Natsu... why was he so caring towards her all of a sudden? Natsu never seemed to show any intrest in Juvia before so why now? Juvia began to ponder on the pink haired dragon slayer. He was very attractive and strong, he was also extremly loyal and would never betray anyone no matter what. Just thinking about Natsu made Juvia feel flustered, more than Gray ever did. The longer she thought about the pinkette the more he crept into her heart, slowly taking it for himself.

Juvia sighed and held the note and necklace close to her chest. "Natsu-sama" Juvia mutters lowly, blushing at the prefix she used to give to Gray but now it was reserved for Natsu and Natsu alone. Whether she liked it or not, which she most certainly did, she was falling head over heels for Natsu. It was always one of her greatest weaknesses, falling in love so fast and loving so hard but she knew that with Natsu it would be a different story.

Maybe... just maybe she would finally find her true love.

Juvia is roused from her thoughs when she hears foot steps coming up the stairs yet again and then they stopped infront of her door.

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Hey Juvia I accidently left my wallet in one of the grocery bags, you think you could slide it under the door?" Natsu asked chuckling slightly.

The world seemed to stand still around Juvia as she heard Natsu's voice, she could almost feel his unnatural warmth coming through the door and begin to wrap around her, comforting her and making sure she was okay. Juvia began to shutter, the man she knew she was falling for was outside her door and she was determined not to let him go.

It was at that moment that Juvia steeled her reslove and stood up. She began to tear up again as all of the memories of what Natsu has been doing for her flooded her mind, along with the memories of these 8 long weeks. She reaches very slowly towards the door knob and twists it just as slowly. When the door swung open, Natsu for the first time in almost a month came into view.

He was wearing his normal high collared one sleeve jacket with his white trousers and sandles. His scarf wrapped securely around his neck. Juvia blushes at the sight, its been so long since she's seen Natsu and seeing him know caused a whole flood of emotions to over take her.

Tears then began to fall from the water mages eyes due to her emotions raging like wild fire. She lunges foward and latches onto Natsu and began weeping like a child into his muscular chest. Natsu is suprised by the sudden action but does the only thing that processes in his mind. He hugs back.

As Juvia feels Natsu's warm strong arms wrap around her waist she stiffens but quickly relaxes and began to cry even harder. Natsu was so caring towards her, holding her like she was the most fragile thing in the world. His scent was all that was on her mind at the moment. Cinnamon and exotic spices with a hint of smoke filled her senses causing Juvia to shiver slightly.

Natsu was on the same boat. Juvia hugging him was so sudden and he never expected this. Her sweet scent of water lily's and fresh rain was clouding his mind and his primal instincts were beginning to take over just as they did when Gajeel confronted Gray. Natsu then let his head fall into the crook of her neck and nuzzles the spot, taking in more of her sweet scent.

Juvia shivers on contact and does the same. They stay like this for a while until Natsu pulls back and finally after 8 weeks gets a good long look at Juvia. Her eyes were red and puffy with bags under them, she looked like she hasn't slept in days, tears stained the pale skin of her cheeks and her hair was a knotted mess. She wore a blue tanktop and white short shorts. She was a mess. Natsu then began to feel tears form in his eyes and felt a lone tear roll down his cheek. His inner dragon was in pain.

"Juvia...Im so sorry." Natsu says lowly as he feels even more tears fall off of his face.

He then hugs Juvia again but this time tighter. Juvia is appalled by the situation. Why was Natsu crying? Juvia was the one in pain, so why is Natsu crying? It then hits Juvia like a ton of bricks when a memory of a conversation she had with Gajeel back at Phantom Lord rushed its way inside of her head.

Flashback:

Juvia has currently just arrived at the guild hall and sighs, the entire guild was empty save for a few members. She looks around and notices Gajeel in a dark corner of the hall with what seems to be a mountain of beer bottles surrounding him. Sighing she walks over to greet the dragon slayer.

"Good morning Gajeel-kun." Juvia says as she takes a seat across from the man.

Gajeel groans. "Morning Juvia" He says as he sits up.

Juvia is shocked when Gajeel sits up and see's him visibly crying. He takes another beer and takes a quick swig before resting his head back on the table. He sniffles a little before speaking again.

"Juvia... Its dragon slayer mating season and I still haven't found my mate... It gets pretty lonely... All alone all the time... a dragon without a mate is no dragon at all... atleast thats what Metallicana told me." His voice sounding hoarse and scratchy, very uncharacteristic.

Juvia is thrown off by Gajeel's words. Since when has Gajeel cared about love? Also, when has Gajeel the strongest mage in Phantom Lord shown emotion? He was crying visibly and drunk so is he drowning his sorrows in liquor?

"Juvia doesen't understand Gajeel-kun." She says.

Gajeel grunts. "Well... A dragon slayer knows who their mate is at first sight... They share their emotions... So the dragon feels what the mate feels... Dragon slayers and their mates are bound by fate and always end up together... When they finally mate... The dragon pushes some of their soul into the mate... Linking them permently... So if you ever meet another dragon slayer look for three signs... Them feeling what you feel... Them knowing things only you would know... and... finally..." Gajeel didn't get to finish as he had passed out.

"Oh Gajeel-kun." Juvia sighs as she stands up and goes to get a cup of coffee for her friend.

Flashback End.

The realization had stunned Juvia. Was she Natsu's mate? Not that that was a bad thing or anything, but why had Natsu not advanced on her sooner? She then feels Natsu hold onto her even tighter, making no space inbetween them. He takes in a long inhale of her scent making Juvia blush, then he began to nuzzle her neck, his scortching hot breath tickling her sensitive skin. Juvia had to bite her lip in order to silence a moan that was creeping its way out of her mouth.

Juvia is startled when Natsu stands up and thinks he is going to leave so she stands up quickly and latches again onto him, burrying her face in his chest.

"Please... dont leave Juvia." She says.

Natsu hugs her and says in a deep voice. "You know... dont you."

Juvia's eyes widen in shock. "Is this what Gajeel-kun meant? Can he read Juvia's mind or something?" Juvia rants internally.

Natsu chuckles. "I guess you can call it mind reading, but its more like our souls being naturally bounded to eachother. I know what you know and you know what I know" Natsu says.

Juvia is again shocked."What do you mean naturally bonded?" Juvia asks.

She feels Natsu smile against her neck. "Im sure Gajeel told you that the dragon and their mate are bounded by fate. Thats what our bond is. Ready for the day we meet, our souls are already partially linked."

Juvia is again at a loss for words. So she was always destined to be with Natsu? Is that why she's had so much bad luck with men? Her soul was saving herself for Natsu? Juvia was confused big time, but spending the rest of her days with Natsu did sound good even though Natsu hasn't even mentioned it.

Juvia just kept herself snuggled up against Natsu's warm chest not wanting him to leave, fearing she was dreaming, fearing he would leave her just like the rest. Natsu also didn't want to let go, he was finally happy that his mate who he has known and waited for, for so long was finally his and no one else's.

Natsu then hears Juvia sniffle and look up at him with teary eyes.

"Why did you never tell Juvia?" She asks quietly. Wondering why Natsu never advanced on her despite knowing her for years.

Natsu sighs. "You would have never even gave me the chance, you were always so obsessed with Gray, that I knew that if I asked you i'd have my heart broken so I waited." He says equally quiet.

Juvia felt guilt at his words. He was right, she would have never gave him the time of day and even if he did confess, she would have never accepted being so infactuated by Gray. Juvia eyes began to water again and her head fell on Natsu's chest yet again.

"Juvia... Juvia is so sorry for the pain she put you through." She sobs. Natsu cringes, feeling her pain.

"Its fine Juvia, im just glad that everything is out in the open now. Hopefully... when your ready... we can give us a try." Natsu finishes lifting Juvia off the floor bridal style and carries her inside.

Juvia blushes at being carried and at Natsu previous statement. So he wanted to have a relationship with Juvia. That made the womans heart beam, knowing that the man she was falling for wanted her. She is knocked from her thoughts when she feels herself sink into her bed.

Natsu moved the covers for her and placed her on the bed sheet, he then after placing her on the bed, covers her with her comforter and places it above her chin. Juvia is touched by Natsu's carring nature and smiles with a pink blush dusting her pale skin. Juvia's face then explodes in crimson when Natsu places a single kiss on her forehead.

"Get some rest, you'll need to recover before going to the guild, you look like you havent slept for days." Natsu says gently.

He gets up and walks towards her door but stops when he hears Juvia gasp. He turns around and see's Juvia sitting up with tears in her eyes staring at him.

"Please... dont leave Juvia alone... Juvia is tired of being alone." She says half beggingly.

Natsu gives a warm smile and nods, the last rays of sun light lightly dusting his face from the curtains. Juvia blushes and watches Natsu walk to her bed and kneel beside her.

"And were would I sleep?" He asks teasingly. Juvia blushes and musters up all of her courage and says.

"... With me." Her face immedietly being covered in red. Natsu smirks and walks to the other side of the bed and kicks off his sandles and shrugs off his vest, making Juvia blush even harder as she examined the dragon slayers body. From his six-pack abs to his well defined face he was perfect to the woman's eyes. He then slowly slides into bed besides her and settles inches away from her.

"Goodnight" Natsu whispers as he stares into her eyes.

Juvia blushes and closes the gap between them and snuggles against his side. "Goodnight...Natsu-sama" She whispers as she feels Natsu's arm wrap itself around her, both falling fast asleep.

The night couldn't have been any better for the two. Juvia finally felt whole with Natsu beside her, even though she knew she might have been falling for the man too fast, she didn't care. Natsu's dragon side assured that for her. Juvia has also never felt so safe and so loved in all her her life, but with Natsu thats all that she could feel. Natsu's warm embrace still ever so present.

Natsu also felt equally as good. He finally had his mate by his side and he wouldnt let anyone or anything take her away from him. He has waited too long for this day and he would be damned if he lost her.

As the two continue to lay in bed Juvia began to stir, a lone ray of sunlight making its way from the window onto her soft face. Juvia scrunches her face in irritation and cracks her eyes open. She is blinded by the light and waits for her eyes to adjust. After a few moments she gets a good look at her surroundings. She was still in her room and in her bed but her pillow was soft yet firm and extremly warm.

Juvia grogily looks up and blushes ten shades of red at the sight before her. Natsu was in her bed, his pink locks clinging to his face and a peaceful smile gracing his lips. His arms were also around Juvia's waist in an almost protective manner.

Juvia takes the opportunity to thoroughly inspect the man under her. His strong jaw line, his perfect facial features and his over all masculine appearance was a major turn on for the woman. Soft breathing was all that could be heard coming from the man.

Juvia's blush takes on a deeper shade of red as lewd thoughts began to creep inside her head. The thought of the dragon slayer in his birthday suit made the woman hot and bothered. She would always fantasize about Gray every chance she had but all of those fantasies paled in comparison to what Natsu made her feel.

Juvia then noticed that Natsu's lips had slighlty parted and began to wonder what they felt and tasted like. She blushed even harder if even possible and before she knew it, she was slowly descending down onto the dragon slayer.

She was centimeters apart from stealing Natsu's first kiss when the mans eyes snapped open startling the woman. She heard him inhale deeply and saw his eyes form into reptilian like slits, she gasps at this and was about to pull away but Natsu beat her to it and placed his lips on hers.
