A Little Thing

Disclaimer: [Insert witty comment here] basically, it's not mine

(A/N: This is after Mulan creates the avalanche to get away from the Huns. AU where she didn't get injured and everyone still thinks she's a boy.)

Mulan winced as she sat down in her tent. She was a little bruised from the events of the day. Still, she couldn't help but be proud. She had shown them. She was worth something. When she looked at her reflection, she saw someone worthwhile, not some little girl who would never bring her family honor. And she had saved Shang's life. Wow. He was something. Mulan knew it was a bad idea to get warm and fuzzy feelings about anyone, but she couldn't control it. Her heart always beat a little faster whenever he was around.

Her tent curtains fluttered, and Mulan turned to see who it was. It was almost as if her imagination had materialized, because the man standing in her tent was none other than Captain Li Shang. She scrambled to her feet.

"Captain!"

"Um, hi." Shang was unusually nervous. God, he's handsome, Mulan thought.

"Hi."

There was an awkward silence.

"Soooo, is there something you wanted to talk to me about?" Mulan ventured.

"Oh, right. Yes. Umm, there was a rumor-" Oh no, Thought Mulan, "-that you, um had a thing for me."

"What?" Mulan was surprised. She didn't think she was being that obvious. "Th-that's crazy. I don't have a thing for you. That would be weird, and wrong, and bad. And there is nothing. No. Thing. There is no thing. At all. Whatsoever."

"Oh. Because I think I have a thing for you, too."

"Excuse me?" Mulan was taken aback. Was this some kind of joke?

Shang took a step closer to him. "I think I'm in love with you, Ping," he whispered. He was so close Mulan was sure he could hear her thoughts.

Despite her brain yelling at her not to, she said, "I think I'm in love with you, too, Shang. The problem is-"

He cut her off with a kiss. All that was left of her common sense jumped out the window at that moment. The kiss was nothing like she imagined (not that she daydreamed about kissing Shang at all). Instead of being hot and intense, the kiss was gentle and passionate. She kissed him back eagerly. Their bodies melded together perfectly. It was as if they were two halves trying to reconnect as one whole. Despite her every nerve wanting to stay exactly like that forever, Mulan pulled away and broke the kiss.

"What is it?" Shang asked, "Was I too forward? If you don't want to do this…"

"No," Mulan answered, "I do want to do this. But there's probably something you should know."

"You don't look old enough to be married."

"No, no it's not like that."

"Then what is it?"

"I've been lying to you." Mulan grimaced. "I'm, I'm, a-a girl." She glanced at Shang's shocked expression. "I stole my father's armor and joined the army to keep him from being killed. I know it's against the law, but I can't stand the idea of my father going off to war and dying."

"Ping," Shang said with a soft voice, "you saved my life yesterday. You are the bravest soldier I know."

"Mulan. My real name is Mulan."

"Then I love you, Mulan."

And then they were kissing again. It was more passionate than last time. It was like they couldn't get enough of each other. Shang's hands slipped under her shirt. Soon her shirt was on the ground. Next Shang's shirt was off, too. Mulan moaned as he slipped her pants off, along with his. She had never experienced so much ecstasy in her entire life. She kissed his neck, then his chest, slowly making her way downwards. Shang shook with happiness. He pulled her up and started kissing her lips again. High with newfound love, Mulan pushed Shang onto the cot and rode him like there was no tomorrow. They were both screaming now. Damn the consequences, thought Mulan.

They weren't being discreet anymore. Every single soldier was perched outside the tent listening to Shang shout, "RIDE LIKE THE WIND BULLSEYE!"
