A Tower of God original fanfiction

He surprised himself with how calm he was acting, although the others present would've begged to differ.

Baam personally thought that he was handling this surprisingly well, despite his confusion and frustration over Rachel's actions. It could've been because he had given the matter much thought – his time under FUG had given him more than enough time and space for that.

His fists clenched momentarily, suppressing his fury at those who had forced him to be their God. He was a God, but a God was not meant to be a slave to his own believers' foolish and selfish desires.

He understood why Rachel wanted to get to the top of the tower, to see the sky and the stars. He supposed they were worth the effort, if even Urek Mazino was striving towards the same goal.

What he did NOT understand, was why she was so against the idea of taking him with her.

He had had nothing before, lived in a cave that might very well been a void.

Then she came, acting as a mother-figure to him.

But no, even that would not last; she left him for something seemingly so enticing to her, yet so mundane and meaningless to him.

He was agitated. Did he mean so little to her that even inanimate and abstract things like the sky and the stars were worth more than him?

But enough of that. He now had friends of his own, team members of his own to protect, goals of his own to achieve.

It struck him that Wangnan was right in saying that the Tower broke more bonds than it formed. People formed temporary, superficial alliances all for the sake of a fleeting dream at the top of the tower, that might not even come to fruition.

The dead body of Nia and Lurker's sickening face flashed momentarily before his eyes, and he forcefully suppressed the memories.

But Baam was an irregular, destined for great things, unbound by the rules of the tower. Where people climbed to the top over the beaten, broken and dead bodies of others, he decided that he'd pull other up with him, gathering more along the way, and make null all the rules that destroyed so many dreams.

And that was what he'd offered Rachel as well – to be a ladder that would help her climb the tower – because he owed her his life.

He offered for her to head a new era alongside him.

But she was not content with that. She wanted a revolution of her own, to be the heroine of her own fantastical tale, to be the alpha female of the pack.

That did not settle well with Baam. He was the alpha male, and there were only two choices. Either Rachel helped him lead the pack, or she had to take the back seat.

She seemed to have chosen the second, and so she had to fall.

Leaping with feral, dangerously fierce grace, he brought his fist down upon the one man who had constantly irked him since a while ago. Daniel Hatchid.

"You're not going anywhere, Rachel."

He was the one and only alpha of the pack, and prove it he shall.

End

Pride: My apologies if Baam seemed too OOC. It was mostly intentional, as I tried to gain some insight into what lies underneath his patient, impassive exterior.

May good fortune rule over you
Peace live in your heart, and
May the stars watch over you

- Yours truly, Pride
