I really couldn't get this scene out of my head. So here goes.
Everybody knows that the Bats are fueled by one tangible thing, and one thing only - caffeine.
"Do you think coffee still works on them, hermano?" Jaime quietly asked Bart as he discreetly watched Batgirl finish the mug like she's taking shots.
The speedster merely shrugged and noisily chewed his chicken whizzies.
M'gann, being a resident in the Mountain and the designated chef, noticed the nearly savage consumption of coffee daily by the three Bat proteges, especially the older two.
Having read an article about unhealthy caffeine addiction earlier that week, the Martian decided that she didn't want any incidents to happen because this psychoactive drug.
So M'gann threw out all the seemingly infinite coffee packets in the cupboards and replaced them with herbal tea.
Her intentions were good. Her actions weren't just good enough.
Nightwing and Batgirl came out of the Zeta, tremendously fatigued. They just got back from a long and boring stakeout with a few freshmen of the Team. They still have a report to write before heading to Gotham and 'Haven for patrol. And they haven't slept for more than five hours in the last two days.
To say they were in desperate need of coffee would be an understatement.
The two heroes settled on the bar stools in the kitchen. When Nightwing was about to reach for the prepared coffee on the other side, a pair of steaming mugs of something dark were placed in front of them.
After one suspicious look at the beverages, they had a quick, silent conservation, before declaring in unison, "That's not coffee."
"And that totally wasn't creepy," Gar murmured to Jaime in the background.
The Bats stood and left with Batgirl sending a surprised M'gann a wave from both of them. The computer announced their exit at the Zeta.
"Sorry M'gann," Robin suddenly spoke behind her, causing all the heroes in the room to jump in surprise, "The League tried that already. It's simply a lost cause." Then he reached over and grabbed a few sachets of sugar and creamer from the counter.
Of course, when M'gann turned around to reply, the youngest bat was already gone.
Half an hour later, the computer announced the arrival of the three Bats. And in each of their hands was a large thermos.
