Their relationship is awkward, to say the least.
Not to say that she doesn't love him, because – for all his craziness – she does. But neither of them are particularly good at love and Okabe's thoughts are on a different plane of existence altogether, in all aspects of life. It's one think she (kind of) loves though, as exasperating as it sometimes is. He loves her too, she knows. He's told her when she was unsure of their past and he has told her when he was gradually disappearing from this world – this timeline.
"I love you" is something they both don't say nearly enough. Because – as their friends like to point out – they're both tsunderes in different variations of weird. She's too shy to really tell him all the mushy stuff she wants to and he likes to avoid voicing any real feelings with all his mad scientist behaviour and talk about the Organization and round tables and mission names based on norse mythology.
They're both awkward at love and it takes so much time and courage to slowly hold his hand more. Kiss him more. To let their relationship grow. It's the reason why they're still not completely honest with each other, even if Daru has already managed to get his wife pregnant and even if everyone – everyone, even the socially awkward Moeka – has progressed with their relationships so much faster than they have.
It's also the reason why – ten years after they first met – he pulls out his phone like always and begins talking to himself, or maybe even an imagined higher-up on the same mission, about the Organization, how he has to foil their plans and that he's going to spy on them in the Underground.
"Christina!" She mutters that there's no '-tina', but he doesn't listen to it, just as he hasn't dropped that habit even after all these years. "We're going into cover, assistant. Wear this!" And suddenly, he throws her a ring – a beautiful ring – and looks away, cheeks tinted with the barest hint of red. Her cheeks are equally aflame when she realizes that this is Okabe's own weird way of proposing and she feels as if her heart is on overdrive.
There's a smile on her face when she answers. "At least call me by my name when you're asking me to marry you!" Okabe splutters incoherently and denies the whole thing, trying to talk himself out of it while telling himself on the phone that it's just mission Freyja and that there's nothing more than that to it, but she sees just a bit of anticipation in his eyes and really, she's known Okabe long enough to know that he never says what he actually means.
It's why she says yes and tells him he better not act like this on their wedding. He only laughs that mad scientist's laugh and Kurisu thinks she's never loved him more.
