But anyhow I thank all of you for your wonderful support of Dinomaster and as a response I have a treat other then this chapter. I decided to let you guys have a bit of fun a competition of sorts. But the details will be told in the next chapter. I mentioned it in Alan's Dinosaurs or Will Mention it if I had not posted the chapter yet. But I will mention it here. I will be holding a contest to see if you all can come up with some fanart, or video trailer hell even a speed painting video would be nice. But I will post more of the details in the next chapter. The Winners will be posted in either of my top four stories of your choice Warriors of Winterfell, The Black Eagle, Alan's Dinosaurs, or Dinomaster. The choice is up to you and when I flesh out the details of the contest to you. You all can come up with what your creative minds can do. I want to see what you come up with to support these stories.

How's that? Pretty fun eh?

Well enough of that and on with the chapter.

DINOMASTER

Chapter 08: A Debt Repaid

FLASHBACK 1996

"Eric it is time for bed!" Amanda Kirby said to Eric as she was busy preparing to go to work.

Amanda worked as a hostess at a local bar using this time to put on her makeup, and her uniform before stepping outside. An eight year old Eric was busy playing with his new Nintendo NES system and a game of Mario.

"Eric Bed Now!" she yelled from downstairs.

Eric sighed as he moved over to the T.V. and turned off the device. Going to the bathroom to brush his teeth and get ready for bed he crawled in when Amanda made her way to his room. Eric's father Paul was working late and would be home just before Amanda leaves so that way someone can watch over Eric. Not too soon as the sound of a car drove up on the driveway just as Eric exited the bathroom. Going to his bedroom he quickly got into bed.

Right when Paul Kirby could be heard going to the door and getting inside.

"Amanda I'm home," Paul said.

"Alright honey and make sure you check up on Eric to make sure he is in bed," she said and with that the door shut.

Eric could hear the footsteps going up the stairs as he crawled into bed. As soon as he turned the lights out was when the door opened and Paul Kirby came through the door.

"Eric?" he said

The boy looked at his father with adoration before Paul gave him a tired smile and closed the door.

END FLASHBACK

The sounds of crickets and frogs alerted Eric to what time of the day it was. Slowly his eyes began to open, and he once again found himself in a place he was not familiar with. But then again things were slowly starting to come back the island, and the death of his uncle it all came back.

Slowly he turned his head with a groan and met face to face with Alma whose large eyes shown their concern for him.

"How are you feeling Eric?" he chittered.

Eric groaned and tried to get up only to feel pain in his left shoulder. A clawed forearm forced him back down again.

"Don't move your stitches will come undone if you move," the voice of Mara said as she peered over where Eric was resting.

"Where…?" Eric asked.

"We are just outside of the nesting grounds. The Sail Back has brought us back home as repayment for saving her life. The Eastern Plains pack the one that attacked us has sent their apologies in attacking you," Mara replied.

Next to him Alma was busy preparing a poultice to be used on Eric's wound. He also passed a steaming mug of something that smells horrible. Eric winced when he smelled it.

"Drink it, it will help you heal. Those bites can cause infection if not treated immediately," Mara replied.

Eric shakily took the cup and Mara with Alma's help lifted him up to drink. The taste was worst then the smell and Eric nearly threw up the concoction. But Mara with some fast thinking grabbed his throat with her claws and forced the drink down. When he was done he nearly threw up, but Mara made him hold it down. Taking deep breaths Eric struggled to keep the contents down.

However his deep breaths were drowned out by another even deeper breath as a long toothed snout came into the bedding. The Spinosaurus or Sail Back as the Troodon call her looked at Eric with one green eye. Her deep rumble could be heard as she took in his scent. An amused chittering could be made by both troodon.

"What's so funny," Eric asked.

"It seems as if our friend has taking a liking to you." Mara said amused.

"Eric has a new mate!" Alma then fell over with the Troodon equivalent of laughter as he held his stomach with his claws and made a very screechy whinny noise. Eric knew he was being picked on. If he had the strength he would have thrown something at him.

Luckily someone else beat him to it.

A sharp yelp was heard and Alma found himself rubbing his snout with a very cartoony notion. If Eric had the strength he would be laughing as well. But the amusement in his eyes were enough.

"Don't laugh Almaealij Min Alizzilal!" Mara screeched her feathers puffed to their fullest.

Alma quickly backed down in fear at seeing her.

A deep puff of hot air interrupted the group and they turned to see the Sail Back. She leaned in and gently nudged Eric's face affectionately. A deep croon could be heard as she showed her gratitude to him. Slowly Eric reached up and stroked the long snout. A deep soft rumble could be felt for it was too low for Eric's ears but he could still feel it. It vibrated in his chest and nearly made his heart stop. Large acid green eyes closed and Eric saw that as a sign of affection.

Slowly he leaned in and rubbed the side of his face to her snout as she leaned in more. He slowly stretched his hand and stroked her snout. Alma who was watching the exchange also leaned in with the Sail Back adding to the rumble.

Then as soon as it began she leaned away and disappeared into the trees.

"Where is she going?" Eric asked.

"Home, she is returning to her territory for that is where she belongs," Mara replied as they helped Eric up and also disappeared into the trees. They were interrupted by the hooting calls of the Northern River Pack. The raptors greeted the troodon when they spied Eric struggling to walk. One of the bigger females offered to give him a ride which he was grateful for.

When they returned Julianos was waiting for them at the entrance to the nesting sight. The raptors knew of the lair and respected the Troodon for its seclusion. They helped Eric to the entrance and the rest of the tribe helped him in.

Eric in the meantime was too dazed by the medicine and the pain to care. His legs were too stiff and swore from it as he was placed back in his nest. His mind was already faded to black when he heard the Troodon chirping.

THE NEXT NIGHT

The next night the moon was not out so the Troodon knew that it was a night of all darkness. Where the moon and the stars do not show. The thick clouds coming over the skies means that a storm was coming. Not a good time for hunting. The rivers would not be safe to fish either if the sound of thunder was heard.

Thankfully when they were away the others of the tribe had managed to replenish their supplies safely. As well as gather a few plants that they were going to need in the coming monsoon months ahead.

The time of storms as Eric learned was upon them. It was the beginning of the monsoon season in Costa Rica. Meaning that he had been here for nearly a six months. He had been through a lot in his time here on Isla Sorna. The weeks he spent sick to the time learning to hunt. Even burying his uncle. So much has happened in the six months he had been here. Boy he can't believe how much time flies here. He had changed from the scared, rebellious boy he had been.

Now he was no longer normal by any amounts.

For no boy his age could survive dinosaurs and yet he Eric Kirby thirteen years of age did. He survived and for the first time in his life he had true friends.

Speaking of friends he often wondered how his friends and family would fare with him gone. His mother and father no doubt would be blown to pieces trying to save him. But they can only do so much.

"Are you thinking about your family again Eric?" a soft chirp said interrupting his thoughts.

It was Julianos

The wise alpha Troodon seemed to know Eric's thoughts as he slinked in from the shadows. The only lights were the luminescent crystals that the Troodon found deep in the caves here. They give off a warm light as well as the lights from the station. The light bulbs for some reason remain intact and unburnt unlike normal light bulbs.

It was one of the things that Eric was going to find out about.

"Yeah, I miss them," he said.

Julianos leaned his head into the nest to look at Eric with his large eyes. He noticed now the huge difference between the Troodon tribe and the ones the others call the crazed ones. The Troodon monsters that are insistent on killing everything to lay their eggs in the corpses of their victims. The tribe has insured that those creatures do not come near their territory. Even some of the hunters kill them when they enter.

When the tribe looks at you one can see that these Troodon lack the bulbous large eyes that the others had. In fact Eric remembers encountering some a while back while he was in that cave. He never knew it at the time but when describing it to Julianos. The elder told him of the Crazed ones the mutant Troodon who were created on Isla Nublar and sent here by boat by some crazy scientist. Eric also remembers the journal and the scientist did mention a Dr. Sorkin and a Dr. Wu. Both of which created all the dinosaurs on this island.

Now as he could see the shadows play across the ground several members of the tribe went out on patrol. The rain was a good cover for the crazed ones and the tribe has to be extra vigilant.

Suddenly the ground shook from Eric's nest but Julianos didn't mind and nether was Eric. In fact he was used to it by now. The sounds was only the nearby sauropods that frequently walk through here. In fact Eric could hear their cries in the forest. It was the same sounds that he had heard his first few nights here. In fact he is so used to it now that if he ever went back home...it would not feel the same.

Here at least he could relax and enjoy life. No longer was he to live up to his parents expectations. In fact he was thinking that if he ever got off the island. He would make it up to Ben and seek out his family himself. The tree that was planted over his grave is growing strong fast. Already it was well above Eric's head and it is well guarded by the Northern River Tribe.

The large Velociraptors considered the grounds sacred for a reason. The grave is near their nesting site by the river. It was here that Eric discovered that it was the raptors that had kept the compys away from eating his body. They felt that the human deserved to be buried by his own kind. When Eric returned and buried him with the Troodon Tribe the Raptors kept that place free of any herbivores. This allowed the tree to grow so tall.

It was a young Ceiba tree and Eric as well as the troodon hope that it would grow into a tall and strong tree.

Already the Raptors report the tree is tall enough to cover the sun when it was hottest out. This provided protection to their eggs when it was blistering hot. Plus it cooled the ground just enough for them to be comfortable in.

Eric remembers going to the nesting site of the raptors. It was because there was a problem with a branch that had fallen into the creek that ran near their nest. The water had nearly flooded the nests and because their hands are not designed for grasping. Requested Eric's help in removing it so that way the water remains flowing and the nests are safe.

The good thing about the monsoon is that the River Tribe is no longer nesting. Even the Troodon are not nesting seeing as the babies are nearly three to four months old.

Eric is a good babysitter and likes to spend time with the hatchlings. As a teacher of sorts on human behaviors and what to look for. He also learned more about dinosaur life on Isla Sorna.

All these thoughts went through his head when he was curled into the nest. One thing is for sure Eric is not going back unscarred. In fact he had gotten most of his scars from this place. The new one on his shoulder to the old ones on his back and thighs. If there was one thing for sure Eric was going to repay the kindness that the Troodon gave him by finding the one who killed the scientist here. The only thing he has is a name and from what he had read the man's name was Lewis Dodgson. Eric was sure he needs to learn more about the corporate organization that Dodgson works for Biosyn. But to do that he has to bide his time and learn as much as he can here on Isla Sorna.

That much he can do for now.

A/n: Whew sorry it took so long to write with so small a chapter. But I figured I would give you this one since I am more focused on Alan's Dinosaurs and Warriors of Winterfell. And this is the last chapter with Eric as a kid. The next chapter would be a huge time skip so be prepared.

Hopefully you like it and as always please leave a review and no FLAMES, LORE MONGERS, AND BASHINGS. Thank you.
