Swellow arched mid air, ignoring sharp crackling thunderbolts aiming for his body. He could feel the electricity dancing in the air, diving down quickly as the electricity followed.

"MAGNET BOMB!"

Swellow crowed out in annoyance, covering his body with his abnormally large wings and coated them in steel, forcing his descent faster as he felt the metal bombs detonate around him. One particular bomb sparked close to him, throwing him towards the other side of the field. He leveled out, a tad to close to the ground for comfort. He landed, sprinting quickly while dragging his wings through the dirt, feathers fully coated in the dust he took flight again, narrowly missing another thunderbolt.

It was between him and Magnemite. Raichu had fallen to the other Raichu after narrowly defeating Surge's Pikachu. Boldore had tied with said Raichu, his body too slow to deal with the slightly quicker Raichu.

Now it was down to him.

Once more he slipped past the electric steel type, nailing it with a steel wing before dropping dead, once more missing a thunder shock.

The pre-evolved pokemon gave a sharp shrill, Swellow momentarily froze allowing the steel type to slam into it with a wild charge.

"SHIT!" He hissed, his body flew before he leveled out.

The dirt in his feathers neutralized the charge, preventing it from frying the nervous system in his wings. That didn't say that his body didn't ache.

"Whirlwind!"

He stopped, circling the Electric type and began to sway his wings, dropping and rising to try and miss any electric shocks sent his way.

The wind began to circle quickly, and with a quick bat of his wings, was sent flying towards the electric type.

"HYPER BEAM!"

Swellow rose, above the whirlwind and straight into the eye of the storm. He could clearly see the small pokemon being thrown about, letting out a caw as the hyper beam built up quickly. His storm was dwindling, now that he wasn't constantly feeding it. Before it dissipated he let the hyper beam fly. It dropped quickly as if it were a rock plummeting towards earth.

The beam hit the pokemon and with a resounding crack, slammed it against the field. Smoke covered the field and Swellow let out a sigh of relief. His wings ached and his body was sore and bruised but he had won.

He flew down, landing easily on his trainer's shoulder, ignoring the large Man talking to him.

He wanted to sleep.

"That's some strong pokemon you have there, baby." Surge grinned as he shook Ash's hand. "Never have I ever been defeated by a flying type, you're really something, and I thought that your Pikachu was one helluva fight."

Ash grinned back, rubbing Swellow's front feathers as he crooned lowly.

"Thanks Surge," Ash smiled. "I best get going and get them healed."

Surge bobbed his head, giving another fated farewell as they both exited out of the stadium.

Ash immediately walked up to the nurse handing her his three pokemon before wandering off. Pikachu had come running from a single direction, hissing and spitting in a rather uncharacteristic manner.

'What's wrong buddy?" Ash asked, his voice concerned and heavy.

"Kenny." Pikachu spat, and Ash looked up just in time to see the co-ordinater walk in with a small sneer on his face.

"I see you've made it." Ash deadpanned lowly, carefully glancing around.

"Of course I did." Kenny snorted although the sound was rather odd for him. "I need to stay in to battle you of course."

Ash's face crunched up, his eyes gleaming dangerously.

"Why do you hate me? What did I ever do to you?!" Ash spat, mimicking Pikachu's previous tone.

Kenny blinked, his face melding into surprise before another snarl touched his face.

"Because all she cares about is you!" He hissed back. "It's always you!"

Ash glared back.

"First it was Dawn, she was my friend first and she left me to be with you!" Kenny clenched his fist tight, shaking in rage. "Some random person who just so happened to grab her attention. Then while we ran you out I fell for May but it was the same damn thing! All she cared about was you!"

"Maybe it's because I don't treat them like shit!" Ash stepped back, ignoring the growing hatred rising in his chest. "All you ever did was put Dawn on a pedestal that she didn't want! You didn't even bother to listen to her and treat her like she wanted to be treated! And I don't know why May ignored you! All I know was that they deserve someone better than you, especially since you turn on a friend for no damn reason!"

Ash could no longer ignore the anger in his chest and forcefully stepped back. His face was scrunched up in displeasure as Pikachu's hissing grew quiet.

He needed to breathe.

Kenny still looked angry, but there was a touch of something on his face. A look he just couldn't recognize.

Ash shook his head, stepping back once more before turning to walk away.

"Bye Kenny." Ash grumbled before marching away.
