"D-Damn it, Splatter! Give me back my goggles!" exclaimed a young Octoling as she tried in vain to retrieve her eyewear.

"Heh, heh, no can do, Octavia! These goggles of yours are pretty cool and I wanted to try them on," replied a blue Inkling boy with a grin.

As Octavia continued to try and get her goggles back from Splatter, off to the side stood an orange Inkling girl and the Squid Sisters, watching the scene in confusion or in the orange Inkling's case exasperation.

"Is he always like this, Shiro?" asked Marie, turning to the younger Inkling.

Pinching the bridge of her nose, Shiro replied in frustration. "If you mean annoying as all hell, then yes, he's always like this."

"I think it's cute they like each other so much!" said Callie. This earned her weird looks from Shiro and Marie. "What?"

"Callie, what makes you think they like each other?" questioned Marie with a raised eyebrow.

"Because if she were still under DJ Octavio's control, she probably would have gunned him down by now," said a voice from behind the three girls, making them jump.

"Grandpa!" exclaimed the Squid Sisters as they turned to the old squid.

"Hohohoho! With DJ Octavio gone, the Octarians have their freewill back. They are now able to do what they want and it seems that in this case, this young Octoling wishes to be friends."

"Maybe even more than friends!" exclaimed Callie with a giggle.

Back with Splatter and Octavia, the young Octoling was chasing after the Inkling who was still keeping her goggles away from her.

"Give them back!"

"No way!" yelled out Splatter as he turned to look at Octavia and ran backwards.

This was a bad idea though as because he wasn't watching where he was going, he tripped on a rock and landed square on his back. Octavia, unable to stop in time, tripped over Splatter and landed on top of him. This of course caused their lips to meet.

"Told you!" squealed Callie with more giggles as Marie and Shiro watched the scene with wide eyes.

"Looks like you did, Callie," replied Cap'n Cuttlefish with a nod.

The inopportune kiss ended when Octavia quickly got off of Splatter and tried to hide her blushing face. Splatter on the other hand just sat up and had a shit-eating grin on his face before turning to Octavia.

"Hey, if you give me another one I might give you back your goggles."

Octavia could only glare at the boy across from her.

Finally got around to beating single player mode in Splatoon today and during the credits sequence there's a little scene of the Inkling Boy and an Octoling standing next to each other with the Inkling Boy wearing her goggles. That's what inspired this one-shot.

As for the names Splatter and Shiro…I recently, finally, got my hands on the three Splatoon Amiibos. Got them at Gamestop pre-owned (whoever turned them in is an idiot). Anyway, when I used them on my game the Inkling Girl had the name Shiro, the Inkling Boy had the name Splatter, and the Inkling Squid had the name Squidy. Now I don't know if you can name these Amiibo like you can with the SSB ones, but if not, these are some pretty interesting names for the two main Inklings. Octavia on the other hand is some I just gave the Octoling since she needed a name.
