Chapter 17
I've been away so long that I had to reread my own fanfic to figure out where I had left it!
I'm a bit rusty but bear with me!
Without further ado… Chapter 17

"Maur…-"Jane whispered "-Maura, honey I need you to wake up" Jane said calmly but with a little more urgency in her voice, Maura remained in the throes of her nightmare.
"Get away from me! I said NO! No no no!" Maura was yelling in her sleep,
"Maur…Come back to me sweetheart you're safe" Jane said firmly and gently shook her, suddenly Maura stopped, her whimpering died down and her eyes slowly opened,
"J..Jane?" she stuttered out, breathing heavy,
"yeah yeah it's just me Maur, you're okay" Jane said reassuringly, Maura sighed and placed her palm on her sweaty forehead,
"I was hoping that these nightmares would stop. But they haven't, why haven't they STOPPED!" Maura yelled in the end, her frustration getting the better of her. Jane gently cupped Maura's hand in her own,
"hey hey, listen to me okay. Nightmares do stop, slowly, it just takes time. Trust me I'm a pro", Maura gave Jane a small smile her eyes glazed with unshed tears,
"oh god, I know. I just-" she paused "- I just want everything to be okay, I want our lives to be normal". Jane gave a sad smile at this knowing that their lives would remain uprooted for at least another two weeks because of court.
"Our lives will be normal, and we will be okay. It will just take time Maur, but we'll come out of this stronger than ever", this seemed to calm Maura and she smiled at Jane warmly before bringing her down for a kiss. It wasn't passionate or suggestive but just a kiss of comfort.
"Okay, okay I can believe that. Now hopefully we can get some undisturbed sleep", Jane nodded in agreement before settling into her usual position. Her head in the crook of Maura's neck, arm thrown over her waist and her leg hooked over Maura's thighs. For some reason, this position comforted both Jane and Maura.
In the morning…
Jane and Maura were both dead to the world. Fast asleep with Maura practically on top of Jane. The household was quiet, Bass hobbled around in the kitchen wandering where his breakfast was.
Maura stirred first, her eyes opened slowly and she blinked a few times,
"Jaaaaaane" she husked her voice still had remnants of sleep, Jane didn't stir "Jaaaaane" Maura said again,
"god woman I'm awake!" Jane said grumpily which made Maura chuckle,
"good morning sleepy head" Maura said smiling before giving her a peck on the lips,
"mmm mornin'" Jane said kissing her back, the kiss quickly turned passionate, within minutes both women were breathing heavily,
"Jane-" Maura moaned "-we can't-", Jane just carried on kissing Maura "-Jane-" Maura pulled herself up "-we can't-" she paused "-not yet honey" she added sweetly, Jane grumbled in response,
"but whyyyy?" she whined,
"because one, I'm not ready yet, and two, you are still injured" and it was in that moment that Jane registered the pain from her injuries and she grimaced,
"one, that's okay Maur-" Jane smiled and kissed Maura softly before pulling away and saying "-two, OUCH" Maura chuckled softly,
"well now that's sorted, come on up you get!" Maura said chirpily and practically flew out of bed,
"noooo please five more minutes!" Jane covered her head with a pillow which was swiftly taken off her,
"Jane get up, I want to talk to you about something and I do not wish to do it in bed", that quickly got Jane up and out of bed,
"talk to me about what?", Jane asked cautiously,
"I think it's time for me to tell you about what happened between Jack and I".
Annnnnd that's it. I'll be putting the Jack storyline to bed soon. Probably after the next chapter? I must admit, I myself am getting a tad bored with it!
