Summary: Percy was just a normal boy, living with his hard-working mother and abusive stepfather. Normally, Percy only spend the obligatory one weekend a month with his dad. But that had been because of Poseidon's secret. Poseidon is a merman and he tried to shield his son from the supernatural world – until it becomes apparent that Percy shares his heritage.

Percy comes to live with Poseidon and his family. Now he has to deal with being a submissive merboy in a supernatural world, making friends and even falling in love with a vampire.

Epilogue: Sander and the Dark Sea of Summers High

"Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up! If I'm late on my first day at school, I will never speak to you again."

"Urgh. You're such a nerd, Thea", sighed Donny and rolled his eyes.

Theobella Chase was a beautiful, tall girl with light brown skin and pitch-black eyes, the family resemblance to her mother Reyna and her aunt Hylla undeniable. When one was to get to know her however, Annabeth's genes became more than apparent. Growing up, she had been his best friend. Or, at least she had been one of his best friends.

"I don't wanna go", groaned Willow. "Like, middle school was already enough. Can't we quit?"

Willow Underwood was twirling her long, red hair as she pouted and followed her two friends. She had never really found the joy in studying. Though she was a nature-spirit through and through so she didn't really see the point in it. It wasn't like she was going to need any of that out in nature. Which was fair enough, but society still required school.

"Come on, Thea is right. We are going to run late to the assembly", nudged Donny.

And ah, yes. The assembly had already started. On the stage in the foyer of the school stood the principal, with most of the new kids lining up left and right of him. When Marble Torrington spotted them, she glared and made a quick motion to make them move faster.

"...And as I see we're being joined by some stranglers. Let's hope that won't become a habit", stated the principal just as Donny, Thea and Willow sneaked onto the stage. "One would think that the principal's son would manage to be on time, yet..."

Nico sighed and motioned at Donny, who blushed and ducked his head. "Thanks for not embarrassing me on my first day, dad. Very considerate."

"Well, if you'd be on time, there would be nothing to embarrass you about", countered Nico. "Now. As I was saying before I was interrupted, I'm principal Nico Jackson di Anglo and I welcome all of our new students to Summers High. Some of our older students have volunteered to guide you and show you around, student president Castellan, do you want to say a few words?"

A blonde girl with blue eyes jumped up onto the stage, a foxish grin on her lips. "Hi. I'm Robyn Castellan. If you guys have any issues at all, you come to me. Now, follow like good ducklings."

Everyone at the assembly clapped and most of the newbies got off the stage to follow Robyn, only Donny found himself held back by a hand on his shoulder. He dreaded turning around and, true to his expectations, his father stood behind him with a stern glance.

"Your mamma woke you early enough", noted Nico dryly. "Why are you late?"

"I mean, there's a difference between being woken and actually waking up?", shrugged Donny.

Nico heaved a sigh and shook his head. "Please, try to make an effort, Donny."

Donny rolled his eyes and ducked out from under Nico's hand before following his friends.

"You know, when I became principal, I thought the greatest challenge I'd face would be to tame the unholy offspring of Octavian and Luke, but turns out Robyn Castellan is a naturally born leader with ambition", sighed Nico as he snuck into the coach's office.

Percy didn't even bother looking up from the schedule he was working on. "Amore, you really did not think that the greatest challenge would be our own children? Really?"

Nico huffed, maybe a small pout on his lips. "Maria Bianca is an angel!"

"Yeah, she is. Thess too, but we'll have a few more years before he joins the school. Donny however has always been troubled and you know that", sighed Percy as he looked up. "This? Going to a school where you are the principal and I am one of the teachers...? He's going to act up. That's who he is, Nico. You have to be patient, my love. And... ease up a little."

"Ease up?", muttered Nico, throwing his hands up. "Ease up!"

Percy laughed as he finally leaned back in his chair, watching his husband pace. Admittedly, he had thought the troublemakers would lay somewhere else too. But Maria Bianca was close friends with Calandra Rodriguez, Esperanza Zhang and Robyn Castellan. The four girls were a powerful group, quite literally so – Calandra was, just like her mother Clarisse, a hunter and one who put the work in, while Robyn was a fox-shifter like Luke and Esperanza was a dragon like Leo. Maria, who was a vampire like Nico, somehow fit right in with them.

Percy liked to keep tabs on the children of their friends and he was happy to teach them. While Silena and Charles' firstborn had indeed turned out to be a dragon-shifter, their second-born Aglaia was a mermaid just like Silena and Percy had been more than happy to welcome her on the swim-team last year already. Just like Chrysander Rodriguez, Calandra's twin-brother who had turned out to be a hybrid – half merman, half fox-shifter. Which had Percy thinking way too much about the twins' conception, so there was that problem. But apparently, Chris and Clarisse had worked overtime there when getting Piper pregnant (Percy still remembered her whining after they had realized it were a set of twins for her first pregnancy. Now that Percy had had two sets of twins himself, he could understand her far better).

"We could ask one of the older kids to maybe... keep an eye on him?", offered Percy. "I already have a bit of an... idea. Leave it to me, love. Just... do principal-stuff."

"Principal-stuff", echoed Nico with a huff. "You really don't take me seriously anymore."

Percy grinned teasingly at him and winked before he left his own office.

"Dude, you're such an absolute disaster, di Angelo", sighed Marble and shook her head.

Donny rolled his eyes and tried to ignore his friend. Marble Torrington was a witch, daughter of Alabaster Torrington. Strong magical blood and that had come in quite handy for the four of them in the past. A magic trick did wonders when it came to escaping the consequences of a prank. Thea and Willow were flanking the two of them as they made their way out into the field.

"What are we doing for lunch?", asked Willow. "Where are we going?"

"I don't know, but I suggest we avoid those", grunted Marble and made a face.

Up ahead sat Ash Underwood and Lance Torrington under an apple tree. Willow made an agreeing sound, because she too did not need to be seen as her older brother's baby sister. She wanted to make her own name here. Ash was super annoying too! He was a total mommy's boy and had always rattled Willow out to their parents whenever Willow and her friends got into trouble. Lance was kind of cool though, maybe Willow had the tiniest crush on the goth vampire.

"Ew. Stop looking at my brother like that or I will hex you, Will", warned Marble.

Willow huffed and threw her hands in the air in surrender, while Donny tried to steer his friends further away from the gym building where the pool and the coach's office were. The last thing Donny needed on his first day was to also be publicly embarrassed by his other parent.

"Hi. You must be Donny, right? Coach sent me to greet you."

Donny rolled his eyes and prepared a witty reply to make the other back-off, but that was when he looked up and. Oh. He temporarily forgot words as the tall brunette smiled down at him charmingly. Sander Rodriguez. Sander Rodriguez was talking to him. This wasn't good.

"Hey, Sander", greeted Marble casually, just to be side-eyed by Donny. "What? He's best friends with my brother's best friend's little sister. ...Okay, that sounded weird but yeah. Back when Becks used to babysit me at the Beckendorf's place I've seen him around a lot visiting Aglaia."

Donny nodded sharply though he still gave her the 'you're such a weirdo' look. Sander was a bit over a year older than Donny, which meant they didn't have contact. Sure, their parents – all their parents – pushed for them to befriend each other because they had been friends as kids and teens already, but mostly, they had formed smaller groups based on age. Because Donny had attended the same class with Marble, Willow and Thea all his life now, while Sander was always a year ahead and had his own friends in that grade. Still, Donny knew Sander. He had seen Sander. Even during middle school, Donny had watched Sander on the football team. Now that he had presented as a hybrid, a mer-fox, he had joined he swim-team though and Donny wasn't entirely sure how well he was going to survive having to see all of that without a shirt during competitions.

"Great. So my mom set up a play-date, or what?", huffed Donny and crossed his arms.

Sander frowned at him and tilted his head. "No? He just... worries. There aren't exactly many hybrids around. But it was my idea to come check in with you. I know what it's like to be half-fish and half-land. Even though I'm a fox and you're a bat. I just... wanted to say hello. And tell you that... if you feel lonely, you could come find me. And if you join the swim-team, we'd be a team."

He smiled brightly at Donny, while Donny just blushed. Okay so maybe that was kind of thoughtful. Hybrids still had a bit of a hard time and when Donny had presented as a hybrid, he had been kind of angry – even though he knew it wasn't his parents' fault and he knew his mom was a hybrid too, but still he hated the idea of this making his life more complicated. Like the pressure of being the son of the lord of cat-shifters and prince of Atlantis and the lord of vampires and principal of Summers High wasn't already enough. Donny wiggled his nose a little.

"Oh, he doesn't wanna join the swim-team", shrugged Willow, looking a bit bored. "Says he thinks it's uncool to work under his ma. Guess he's right. Wouldn't wanna work at my parents' shop either."

"Oh", nodded Sander with a sad look on his face.

"I haven't decided yet", blurted Donny out. "I'm... thinking about it, you know."

"Okay. That sounds good", nodded Sander, smiling again. "I really hope to see you at training."

He waved at them and left. As soon as he was out of sight, Thea elbowed Donny hard and raised both her eyebrows at him in a judgmental way, while Marble was cackling delighted.

"Haven't decided yet, huh?", snickered Marble. "What happened to 'never in a billion years'."

"Sander Rodriguez' abs happened, that's what", huffed Donny flustered. "Have you seen the guy? And that puppy-dog pout. Urgh. How could anyone say no to that, really?"

/break\

Percy knew the expectations on Donny were a lot, especially now that he presented as a hybrid. Heir to the coven-leader and lord of the New York vampires, heir to the king of Atlantis. He wanted to avoid responsibility because it tended to crush him. Percy knew it. Remembered it.

"Okay, I guess... that's all the new members then", sighed Percy. "Captain, want to take over?"

Aglaia Beckendorf smiled brightly, twirling a strand of her pink-dyed her around her finger. Before she could open her mouth though, someone else tried to sneak into the pool to join the training.

"Ah. I see that the whole thing about punctuality doesn't seem to work at all this week, mh?", jibed Percy good-natured. "Don't let it become a habit, because there's punishment laps for that."

Donny ducked his head before he joined the circle of team-members, standing right next to Sander. So Percy had sent the right person after all. He had had a hunch that the kind-hearted hybrid who was about Donny's age may have an easier time reaching him than his parents. Parents were uncool in that age, Percy remembered his own relationship with his dad. He smiled as he watched Sander grin at Donny and Donny blush in return. Or... maybe it was something else entirely. Huh. This year was definitely going to be even more interesting than he had expected. His smile turned more mischievous as he stepped aside and let the captain take over. Let the next generation take over.

~*~ The End ~*~

Author's note: Can't believe that in nine years in this fandom, I somehow never got to actually write my Grover/Juniper, Charles/Silena, Ethan/Alabaster and Octavian/Luke next gen before? How dare I?

First of all, thank you for going on this journey with me. I really loved writing this fic and I've been overwhelmed by the positive feedback for it more than once. Thanks to everyone who left comments, encouraged me, heck even drew fanart of this! It's your fault this fic got to be 50 chapters long, I never planned for it to be that long, but your enthusiasm only made me more enthusiastic about the story. However, before you go "sequel?", no. There will be no sequel. I like to leave a fic on a bit of an open next gen note to show that life doesn't end on the happily ever after, there's more awaiting them. But I've been writing this story for four years now and I'd... I'd like to move on to a new project that I can only hope you are going to love as much as this story, because I already do.

Which brings me to the sneak peek preview for that next multiple-chapter Nicercy fic! High school AU, but with aliens this time. Because it's a special school, training future space-explorers. And it's not going to stay in school, because we're going to steal a space-ship and actually go out into space with Nico, Percy and their friends! The fic will be titled "The Prince of Pluto" and it will be posted on November 16th! But here, have a taste:

"That's cute, having your parents bring you to your first day of high school."

Percy blushed and turned toward the voice. There stood a really handsome guy with distinctively Plutonian features. His eyes were black, the eyeballs actually pitch-black but the irises a startlingly beautiful silver. He had sharp cheekbones and a cheeky grin, dark curls and olive-skin. And, most prominently, there were those large, black wings on his back, feathered and beautiful.

"Oh, don't be childish, you complained all the way to school that mamma doesn't have time to drop you off and that I had to pick you up and bring you here, fratellino."

The just now cheekily grinning Plutonian now blushed and glared at the girl next to him. Also a Plutonian, the same eyes, even the same black curls just hers way longer than his, reaching down to her waist. She was grinning teasingly at the boy next to her, nudging him.

"C'mon, Bia!", hissed the boy. "No need to embarrass me on my first day!"

"Hello, I'm Bianca di Angelo, second year. This is my younger brother Nico, he is also a first year just like you. How about I show you the dorms too?", offered the girl, looking at Percy with a smile.

"I think we got that covered, Bianca", replied Paul with a smile.

"Oh! Mister Blofis. I didn't see you there. Hello", greeted Bianca with a very happy smile. "This nerd right here is absolutely going to be your new favorite student."

"Well, I think your brother has strong competition with my son", noted Paul amused.

Percy ducked his head, grinning a little bit. He kind of loved that Paul accepted him so wholeheartedly as his son, it had never been stepson. Bianca looked a bit surprised at that.

"Oh. I didn't know your son would be attending this year", exclaimed Bianca excitedly before zooming in on Percy. "Hello, Percy, it is so good to meet you, I'm glad you got in."

"...Why does this stranger know my name?", whispered Percy confused.

"Because Mister Blofis talks about you all the time", stated Bianca with a grin. "It's always 'Percy this' and 'Percy that'. Like, 'Percy already knew this when I was preparing the things for today's class'. It's super cute? We've seen Mrs. Blofis around a lot, which always makes everyone whisper, because like, your parents are super cute together, so it's nice to put a face to the son's name."

Percy side-eyed Paul a little at that. It was one thing to hear Paul proudly call him son when Percy was around, but to hear that Paul was proudly talking about him with his classes...? He smiled a little bit and tilted his head before he turned to look back at the di Angelo siblings.

"Hi, I'm Percy. Because I like to introduce myself", grinned Percy and offered his hand to Nico. "I guess you and I are going to be classmates, huh? So... Nice to meet you."

"Oh. Yeah. Yes. I'm Nico, hello", nodded Nico, happily shaking the offered hand.
