Chapter 7
Hello my dear readers and welcome back for a new chapter
First of all, I have to deeply apologize for this long delay between the chapters. If it would be possible you could go and flog me for my incompetence, because I definitely deserve it. I know for myself how much I dislike such long time between updates. I wish that I had a legit excuse for it, but sadly that's not the case, it was 85% laziness and being uncreative and only 15 % of mechanical and private issues. I don't plan to abandon any of the stories I wrote though. With that said, let the chapter begin
I don't own RWBY or Terraformars and this is good, because both series would suffer great lapses between new chapters/episodes and a drop in quality
'What the hell just happened?!' Yang thought to herself, still looking at the situation that unfolded in front of her. She slowly stepped out of her combat stance and looked at her companions to see their reactions to Adolf's sudden outburst. The expressions varied from scared in the cases of Ruby and Jaune, a very surprised face from Nora and interested, if the looks on Weiss and Pyrrhas were anything to go by. The only persons that didn't show any reaction were Ren, Blake and the two other members of the Annex crew.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Juniors voice cut through the silence in the room, masking his confusion with anger. He didn't know who the tall, blond guy was, or what his connections with his temporary bouncer were, but he sure as hell wouldn't accept this strange situation in front of him without an explanation.
Unluckily for, he was completely ignored, since both people in question already started their own conversation. He was only able to her snippets out of it, which made no sense to him.
"…had no idea where I was. I got in here because I wanted a few answers on my situation, only to be attacked by two girls whom I knocked out. They weren't even fit enough for a fight. Anyways, since it became clear that I wasn't here for trouble, I finally managed to ask a few questions and get some answers. His club was thrashed by some…"
"Hey! Could you two stop talking and just answer my damn question?!" Junior shouted irritated and managed to interrupt the conversation, only to lose the attention directly. Now getting downright angry, he grabbed his weapon behind the bar, but was stopped when a strong hand grabbed his wrist. Surprised he looked up to find himself face-to-face with one of the white-clad members of the group.
Looking into his eyes, Alexander slowly pulled Juniors hand up and placed it on the bar, before he released his grip. "Don't interfere here. It is better for everyone, especially you. Our leader hates it, when someone tries to cut in when he has something to discuss." He told Junior, not breaking the eye contact to ensure that Juniors attention was solely focused on him. Being surprised by both the speed and the unreadable look behind the sunglasses from the Annex member on the opposite of the bar, he just decided to not move his hands. There was this small part of his mind that told him, that the one in front of him could be very dangerous by himself. Alexander's rigid posture managed to reinforce this theory.
'Guess he got what I mean. Last we need is that he get his ear nailed to a wall.' Alexander thought to himself as he turned around and focused a bit more on the conversation. "…got stranded outside and found Alexander, Ivan was brought. Had some brawl…" Seeing that Adolf was just recapping their respective stories, he turned back to his own thoughts. 'It's good to see that we get more help, but doesn't that also mean we could meet some of the other assholes too?' He thought to himself darkly and decided to talk to their German leader later.
"We have to solve this problem later. For now we bring you back." Adolf said in the meantime, finishing the conversation he had with Isabella and turned around to the door, completely ignoring the looks he got from everyone. "Let's get back. There are some formalities to take care of." He more commanded than said to his two companions and strode directly out of the bar. Leaving a baffled group of people behind before the two teams hurried after him, until the only thing in the otherwise empty bar was a confused Junior.
"So this is some kind of combat school? Were they train people how to hunt? Seems useless to me, we have enough experience by ourselves." Isabella stated whilst they travelled up to the bureau.
"It is not the same situation like on Mars though." Ivan interjected. "Those things are different, albeit more stupid. Kind of like real animals, more of a pack mentality than everything else, but that doesn't change the fact that they pack a punch and are well armoured."
Before she could respond, the elevator doors opened in front of the four, showing the familiar sight of Ozpin sitting at his table, his always present coffee cup before him. He still had the same calm, unreadable expression he sported during their last meetings. To the common surprise, they weren't welcomed by the angry and annoyed look of Glynda Goodwitch. Instead, a white suited person with greying hair stood before Ozpin.
"This is irresponsible Ozpin! You don't know what they are capable of and especially not if they are already waiting for them." He nearly shouted in his direction, slamming his fist on the table to reinforce his point.
The only response he got was a calm, unreadable look over his glasses from Ozpin.
"On the opposite James, I know exactly what they are capable of. I am monitoring them and their progress constantly." Ozpin retorted to the now named James and took a sip out of his cup. Looking past his shoulder, he noticed the Annex crew standing right outside of the elevator.
"If you excuse me now, I have some business with a few members of my Academy." He told him, effectively stopping a retort. Turning around he scrutinized the small group before him and walked past them in the elevator. "Remember Ozpin we will have a talk about that another time." He called out as the elevator doors closed.
"Definitely military." Alexander mumbled more to himself, barely loud enough for the other three to hear it. As the sound of the elevator grew silent Ozpin finally began. "First of all, I am sorry to let you wait. I'd hoped we been done earlier." He started and directly turned to Isabella. "I assume you have been told where you are right now." He asked her directly.
"I know the basics. A combat school to train teens, to hunt specific creatures called 'Grimm'. They are put into four person strong teams for the time being. Basically a military training camp. That's around it, right?" Isabella directly answered.
"Yes that covers it, although it is a bit more detailed. And this isn't a military school. We may teach fighting, but not to kill people. The duty of a hunter is to protect." Ozpin calmly retorted. "But that is irrelevant right now. Since you know the most things, I'll cut it short here. Miss Leon, I offer you the same chance your comrades got, to become a student here at Beacon." He told her, before he continued. "You could instantly start, whilst the official transfer files are created. As for the team structure, I would place you on the team with your three comrades, if this is alright. Your choice." Ozpin said as he finished and looked at her.
"I'd take that chance then. I already discussed this earlier with my officer and this is an offer you can't refuse. Besides, working under my former commander makes things a whole lot easier here."
"Good to know, that makes things easier. That would be everything for now. You'll get your uniform and scroll delivered to your dorm later. As for now, welcome at Beacon Academy." And with this , he leaned back in his chair, signalling that this was everything he wanted to talk about. Making their way to the elevator, Isabella waited until the doors closed before she turned around to Alexander. "That went way smoother than you told me it would be, I really don't see what your problem with this guy is." She told him, waiting for an answer.
"I never said that he was the problem, it was the teacher that is nearly always there when we called us. I don't know if she has special problems with us or if this is her standard personality. Just be happy that Goodwitch didn't try to voice her opinion. " He told her.
"Well lucky me. Anyways, you told me that there is some Prof that can recreate our drugs? Because I am running a bit low on them. That could be the first stop, before you explain the rest to me."
"Damn, I am happy to have that out of the way, I was getting worried with my limited reserves. You say they work just like the originals?" Isabella asked Ivan after they returned from their short trip to the laboratories to deliver a sample of Isabellas serum to the Professor.
"They work even better. The first time I used mine, I nearly gassed the whole room." Ivan answered, remembering the 'incident'. "The first shot hits you really hard, but afterwards you're fine. I think it is better to not use them in every combat situation. I think Adolf still wants to keep our profile as low as possible." He finished. "Anyway let's get back to our dorm. We can fill you in on the details there.
Walking in silence together, they entered the hallway, seeing their companions and the RY of their neighbours in a conversation that was most likely about combat, weapons or something in that direction, if Rubys hand movements were an indicator. Being able to sense his two teammates even without the active use of his abilities, Adolf looked over his shoulder and indicated to already enter their room, whilst excusing himself to leave the conversation.
Parting ways Yang walked closely by Isabella, looking her in the eyes, showing that the fight they had during their first meeting wasn't over, if the short red gleam in her eyes were an indicator.
It took less time than expected to get the now four members strong Annex-Team registered to give them an official clearance to take on missions given by the Academy. Despite Goodwitchs protests, Isabella was included without a former test, because Ozpin accepted the vouch of the other three members for her skill. The now named Team AIIA, with Adolf as designated leader, quickly became a common sight at the academy and was often seen together with the Teams RWBY or JNPR, although it still was difficult to have Yang and Isabella in the same room.
Sitting in Ports class, both Teams took care to fill the seats between those two, to keep the contact to a minimum. "I really think those two will kill each other." Jaune whispered to Alexander, seeing how the two girls in question glared at each other, whilst ignoring the wild stories of the moustached Professor.
"I agree. If we don't find some way to solve whatever issues those two have, we will have a giant problem. I mean Ruby and Adolf won't be always there to keep them calm." Alexander answered quietly, before he looked over to Yang who just snapped her pen in half. "Let's just hope Professor Goodwitch does have set matches in her classes and doesn't give us students the choice to pick our enemies." Both of them shivered at the thought of that situation, before they stopped their conversation and continued to their previous activities to keep themselves busy, namely doodling on a piece of paper in Jaunes case, whilst Alexanders thoughts drifted away, back to Earth, his past and most important his family. He knew that his stepfather would do anything for his daughter and grandchild, but still felt worry and a deep sense of longing.
'I wonder how Adolf handles himself with that, I saw how bad he felt about his group. Knowing that his wife and child are back on Earth and alone must be even worse for him. I guess I have to ask him, in the end we both sit in the same boat.' He thought to himself and sneaked a look at the German officer.
"I can't believe that this guy is allowed to teach. I was ready to tear my ears off to stop me from hearing him ramble on." Isabella exclaimed, after they walked out of class and towards combat training.
"Well, he is still an accomplished huntsman and sometimes he mentions about something useful in his stories, so he isn't all talk." Pyrrha retorted, deciding to give their moustached Professor some credit.
Upon entering the amphitheatre, it was directly clear that something else was about to happen instead of normal combat classes. Seeing both Ozpin and Goodwitch standing in the middle of the platform with a map of the kingdom behind them was a certain indicator for it. There was a long-reigning silence, in which the students all looked at the teachers with expectation in their eyes. After taking a sip out of his ever-present mug, Ozpin stepped forward.
"This will be no ordinary class today or even an ordinary class at all." Were the first words out of his mouth, gaining him confused looks, before he continued. "You all came here with the same goal. To become huntsmen and huntresses. To protect the world from evil. In the past months, you formed teams, learned together and lived together. You built up trust in your partners, knowing their strengths and weaknesses and how to work with them. Now will be the time when your teams are tested for the first time." Turning around he gave a signal to Goodwitch, who stepped forward.
She focused all students in the room, before she pushed a button, which led to the appearance of three red markers on the map.
"As you see, we have designated three areas in which your teams will be sent. Each team has a mission that is fitting to their abilities." She pointed to the nearest spot, a forest near a smaller village. "Team CRDL, this will be your mission area. Your work is plain and simple to help the village. Together you will control the small area and eliminate the remaining Grimm. A veteran huntsman will be near and will help you should something unexpected happening, although this is unlikely considering that the reports indicate only a little group of Grimm."
Changing her focus to Ruby and her Team she continued. "Team RWBY, you will move in this direction." She told them, whilst pointing at something that looked like a deserted city. "You will help Professor Oobleck in researching the ruins and get rid of the Grimm in the area. He will have the lead for this mission."
Finally pointing her riding crop at the third point on the map, which looked like a dense forest near a small mountain range , she focused on the last two Teams. "Teams JNPR and AIIA, you will both travel here. The area is rather huge, which is the reason you will have a joint operation. I want you to create a more precise map of the area with all possible gathering spots for bigger groups of Grimm. This should be helpful in the future."
After deactivating the map, Professor Goodwitch continued. "This would be everything for today. Take the rest of the day to prepare the equipment you need, your missions will start tomorrow. Dismissed." With this, both teachers left the room.
Deciding to take the advice of their teachers, the teams started to prepare themselves, each going their own way to control their equipment and discuss their tactics.
"Still funny how this Winchester looked when they got their mission. I thought he would start fuming out of his ears." Isabella snickered on their way back to the dorm. "Only a small group and they still have someone to look after them. That must've been a huge blow to their egos."
"Well, their abilities are sub-par in comparison to the others, so it is maybe a good idea." Ren stated. The Teams JNPR and AIIA were both on their ways to their respective rooms to get everything they might need. Unlike Ruby, who grabbed her whole group and ran to the armory to give all of their weapons a complete check-up, Jaune decided that it would be better to first get everything ready and have a meeting to discuss the tactics for the upcoming adventure. Checking his weapons was the last thing on his plan, he preferred to work only in a small group at the end of the day.
"So, packing our things and meet in the library in two hours?" He once again asked to confirm the plan, earning himself a nod from Adolf, before they entered the room.
"Think we need warmer clothing?" Ivan asked from the other side of the room, as the rummaged through his part of the wardrobe. They already got the tent ready, but were still discussing the necessity of it, since no one actually knew what to expect in terms of weather near the mountains, or if they had to climb them partly.
"It wouldn't hurt to get yourself a vest or something like that. I'll definitely take mine." Isabella called from the other side. Whilst both of them still were discussing, Adolf sat in the middle of the room, carefully inspecting his coat, checking each and every knife holder. He already had both of his belts in front of him and his whole collection of blades around him. Taking a similar approach Alexander just strapped his belt on and checked different positions to find out how he could draw his knife as fast as possible.
"Wouldn't it be better for you to refill your jacket after we went through the armory?" He asked the team leader, who just started to place his knives back in his coat. "It would be a real pain in the ass to get all of them out again." He finished, after he was happy the place of his sheath.
"Normally yes, but I looked after them already. The only thing I want there is to check the knives I asked for from their weapon smith. If it worked as I thought, they will be even better conductors. The few big Grimm we met showed me that we might need bigger equipment. There won't be always a thunderstorm or enough of Ivan's gas. You should probably get yourself a gun too. Same goes for you Isabella." He answered, whilst turning around.
"Yeah, I actually thought about that, but it is a bit more difficult to kick and shoot at the same time I have to find the right thing." She retorted, as she put her vest to into her duffel bag. "So, I got everything now." She exclaimed and threw it near her bed. "Do you have enough of your drugs?" Ivan asked, whilst controlling his pill dispenser.
"Yes, I already got a pack from the lab. These shortened needles are a brilliant idea, it makes transporting the injectors so much easier."
"I agree. By the way, we have 30 minutes left, shall we already head to the library? We could already start with rudimentary plans, it would make the organisation a lot easier." Alexander mentioned, showing clearly that he had the organisation of missions still in his blood from his military days.
Interestingly they weren't the only ones who started planning early. Upon entering the library, they saw the members of Team JNPR standing around the table and studying maps of the area. Looking up after hearing the sound of the door, the group earned themselves a surprised look from Jaune.
"So, you also were done earlier?" He asked the newcomers, whilst the made room at the table.
"Not completely, but the armory is occupied right now and we don't have much to do up there anyway." Alexander answered, as they all took place and started to look at the map too.
"So, is there anything you found out yet?" Adolf asked without looking up.
"Ahh, yeah I think so." Jaune answered, staring at him with a slightly unsettled look on his face. "I think this is the best place to ask to be dropped." He said, whilst pointing at a clearing near a river. "We are near the middle and can scout one area at a time without having to walk back to far."
"Wouldn't it be better to work in two teams and letting each one check an area. It would be faster and considering the information about general activity in the area a four man team should be enough." Ivan chimed in, after listening to the first explanations of the 'plan'.
"We thought about that too, but the emergency communication is something that led us to drop the idea. We can always keep in contact through our scrolls, but if one team finds something out of the ordinary and wants the help or opinion of the other group it would be hard to exactly track each other…"
"Unless we make something explode!" Nora called in, but was completely ignored as Ren continued his explanation,
"…without alarming the whole forest around us." He finished and looked at Nora, who was pouting after her idea was shot down again.
"Short and stupid question. Why don't you just use flares? No loud sounds, clearly visible to the other group and safe, considering that we are in a forest and those things hunt on the ground. If some calls and launches a flare, we could easily meet up without causing a huge ruckus." Isabella asked and gained herself a look of approval from her former officer.
"Well, I assume it could work that way. The whole plan of splitting our team would work under these premises. "Ren answered and looked at Jaune to see his reaction to it.
Before he could give his opinion to the newly formed idea, Adolf had already spoken up again.
"If we plan this, we may should create mixed groups of both teams. It would be beneficial to learn how to work with different persons. We won't always operate alone after all. We could form out of two members from each of our teams, giving each group a team leader who will coordinate the situation." He explained the idea he made up in his mind during the discussion. He looked at the assembled persons before he continued. "If we follow this plan, we also should take care that the members in the group are changed too. It is after all still more difficult to work with a team member you got to know here, than with one you know for a long time." He finished, as he set his eyes specifically on Ren and Nora.
After a brief moment of silence, Pyrrha decided to speak up. "That's a logical explanation." She said, looking Adolf straight in the eyes. "But I think we should decide this as a group. After all, it could always end up badly by splitting a known team."
"It can also end critically if you have a team that relies too much on each other and has no back-up plan due to a lack of experience if a surprising situation arises that operates out of the usual patterns." Adolf countered, sounding slightly colder. 'That's the officer that always appeared during our training. Harsh and direct, all for the reasons of toughen us up' Isabella thought, as she heard the familiar tone from her officer that she heard so often back on earth.
"I actually think it is a good idea guys." Came Jaune's voice from the opposite end of the table. "I mean we know what you", he pointed at the Annex members, "are capable of, so it could work."
He continued, earning a surprised look from Pyrrha and an actually approving look from his counterpart. "If anything, we should decide how we mix the groups." Jaune finished and looked in the group, waiting for ideas.
"Well I would like to join our leader if it is possible." Ivan stated as the first person on the table.
"Oh, I want to go too then. I really want to see what your thing does against Grimm." Nora chimed in and looked at Jaune for confirmation.
"I have no problem with that, but how about you." He asked and turned towards Adolf, who just nodded in confirmation. "That would mean I have to join your group too."Pyrrha said, shooting Jaune a slightly worried look over the table, which he seemed to avoid.
"Guess you are stuck with us then." Isabella called out towards Jaune whilst she pointed at herself and Alexander. "Lead the way then."
Ren, who followed the whole conversation quietly, stepped beside Jaune and put a hand on his shoulder, trying to reassure his leader. Despite his outer appearance, he could still see that he felt uneasy.
"I guess that would be everything, right?" Jaune finished and looked at the others, trying to ignore the staring contest between Adolf and Pyrrha. "Otherwise I think we should get going, we have to go out early tomorrow and you said you want to check the rest of your things." He finished. After he got no objections, he began to walk towards the entrance with his team right behind him.
After JNPR left the room, Team AIIA still stood at the table, before Adolf looked at Alexander.
"There is something you wanted to say since quite a while now, what is it?"
"It's just the thought about the whole situation. Do you really think it was good to mix the Teams? I mean she was right on the point that we never worked together in such a combination, especially under an inexperienced leader like him." He answered, referring to Jaune.
"You are right, it is slightly risky, but he can't become anything without being exposed to unknown situations. It is possible that he may falter or decide something reckless, but that is the exact reason why it is necessary that you are in his group Alexander." Adolf retorted. "Besides me, you are the one with the most experience in battlefield tactics, due to your earlier time in the military." He answered, earning himself a surprised look from Alexander, but continued before he could open his mouth.
"We officers had access to the files of the crew members and I looked at the top 15 to judge their abilities. However, back to the main point. As I said you have military training and training with your father-in-law. If push comes to shove, you will be able to help out or, if necessary, take command and lead them out of the situation." He finished, before he walked towards the door, effectively ending the conversation.
'How does he manage to vomit that much on such a calm flight.' Ivan thought to himself as he watched the leader of Team JNPR who was hanging over a bucket. Besides the retching sound out of his corner and the snoring from Nora, nothing else but the humming of the motors could be heard.
They started early in the morning to cover as much ground as possible in the first days, after they built camp.
After a few more minutes, he could feel the Bullhead slowing down and touch the ground. After opening the doors they were presented with a rather beautiful sight of their camping place. They had seen the location on the map, but green field near the forests that also allowed a good few in the direction of the mountains were an even better sight in person.
"This is as far as you will be taken. If you finished your mission or encounter other problems call through and you will be picked up here as soon as possible." Their pilot stated after the equipment was unloaded. Returning to his cockpit, he threw one last look at Jaune who was flat on the ground and started.
Looking after the retreating form of their transport Jaune finally managed to pull himself up and looked at his companions. "Let's set camp now and start our work."
"It's a pretty calm trip so far, don't you think?" Jaune asked whilst they were walking through the forest. "I just expected more Grimm. Not that I mind that there are none though." He quickly added.
Seeing that he got no reaction, he decided to continue. "It just makes everything a lot easier." Still without a response, he turned around to see that Isabella suddenly stopped and to look at her surroundings.
"Is something wrong?", Jaune asked, whilst slowly walking backwards until he stood right beside his Brazilian companion.
"It is just too calm. You said yourself you expected at least something, but there are no traces of them", Isabella responded.
Well, that just means we got the part completely free of Grimm. That's no big problem." Jaune retorted, now unsure about the behaviour of Isabella.
"If it were only the Grimm that are missing I would agree, but there are no traces of any other animals." Ren suddenly said from behind Jaune, startling him with the silent approach. "I have to agree with her", he said whilst nodding at Isabella, "it is definitely quiet here. Maybe something bigger is waiting further in the area." He finished his thoughts.
"Then we should better get ready for heavy resistance on our way." Alexander added, whilst checking his Kavkaz Kalinka. Isabella followed suit, tightening the bonds of her kneepads.
"Should we send a signal to the other group?", Jaune asked silently into the group, whilst unsheathing his blade to expand his shield.
"Don't think it is a good idea, at least not now. Staying silent is the best option now. We should get one ready though." Ren retorted, before they continued their march.
Now stalking slowly through the forest and covering the left side, Isabella started to make her own thoughts on the situation they were in.
'The last situation ended with my death. I can't repeat my mistakes again. I have to at least make the best out of this chance I got.' Trying to push the last memory of her life back into her mind, she stood still, to close her eyes and breathe deeply to calm herself, letting her guard down.
Which was a fatal mistake, because in this moment a white-masked Faunus jumped at her, his spear directly trained at her chest. Surprised by the sudden attack she reacted more out of instinct, honed through the many training lessons with her leader.
Spinning around on her heel, she used her momentum to throw a hard kick in the liver of her opponent, sending him tumbling sideways before she followed up with a knee in his face, effectively knocking him out.
Hearing the sound of a scuffle behind her, Isabella sprinted in the direction of the sound only to find Ren striking an opponent in the chest, before he hit him against the temple with the handle of his gun.
Rushing to their companions, they only found an unconscious member of the White Fang at the feet of a hard breathing Jaune and Alexander, who was restraining his attacker in a chokehold.
Jaune was the first one to break the silence. "Were you attacked too? Are you alright?", he asked worried, whilst he regained his composure.
"I am alright and I don't think your friend is hurt, right?", Isabella answered first.
"I am also fine Jaune, thanks for asking", Ren said, hoping to reassure his friend. "Do you know how they got here? It was said that there were no other excursions in this area since nearly a year?" He asked, getting only a head shaking as answer.
"We could ask our friend here!", Alexander called from behind him, still holding his adversary who started to gain a nice shade of blue in his face. "I beat he would do us the favour of answering a few questions. You would do that, right?", Alexander said, looking at his captive, whilst loosening his grip a bit to let him breathe.
"Screw…you.", he managed to wheeze, gasping for air. "I … won't..tell you..anything..about our plans here... You damn..", He started, before Alexander tightened his hold again, choking him unconscious.
Looking at the now limb body, Ren was the first to break the silence. "He actually did told us something, if you think about it. He mentioned 'plans here', so we can be sure that there are more off them here."
"Can't be many, if no one noticed something. We should at least check the area once more, before we call the others. We wouldn't want to scare them off." Alexander stated, already formulating a plan in his mind. "Let's tie this guys together and find the rest." And with this he turned around, leading the group further into the area.
Staring at the boxes that were loaded into the truck, Henrik took a deep breath, before he continued with his cigar. 'Where the hell are those four idiots? They should only clear the immediate area of Grimm and return. Not taking a nice tour in the forest. If they come back, we are gonna have a long talk' He thought to himself, standing on the clearing, waiting for the rest.
"Hey, we are nearly done here. How is the area, is it clear?" A Faunus with a spotted tail called, whilst walking to him.
"I don't know, Jonathan and his group aren't back!", the bull called back, sighing afterwards.
"They should better hurry Tyrone, we have to deliver the Dust here quickly. We are already past the schedule." Leaning on his weapon, a huge axe with something akin to a motor at the top, the now dubbed Tyrone just closed his eyes and sighed again.
Walking over to his friend, none of the two seemed to notice the arm that appeared out of a bush and pulled on of the workers into it.
"Don't sweat the small stuff. We have enough additional Dust to make them forget our tardiness, I am sure of it." He told his tailed friend.
"I hope so. I can still remember what happened last time, when the delivery wasn't at the right place. A repeat of that would be.." Jonathan started to explain, before he suddenly stopped, noticing a sound that sounded quiet similar to an 'Aakh'. It sounded exactly like a person who got hit by surprise. Slowly feeling for his knives, he turned around looking at the area. "You heard that too, did you?" He silently asked his friend, who only nodded and readied his axe.
Inching slowly near the edge of the clearing, the bull Faunus lifted his axe, before he suddenly sprinted forward, swinging his weapon diagonally through the tree in front him where noticed a flash of white. Crackling with electricity the blade cleaved through the tree and the ground, setting the leaves on fire.
But before he could lift his weapon again to destroy what was left in front of him, he suddenly found himself on the receiving end of a perfectly executed low kick, sweeping his legs away underneath him, knocking him on his stomach. The last thing Henrik saw when he rolled on his back was the underside of a boot, before he got knocked out, courtesy of a stomp in the head from Isabella.
Trying to escape, his former friend spun around, only to stare into the barrels of two guns. Slowly dropping his weapons, he saw his co-workers being dragged out of the bushes, both also unconscious.
"I think now is the time to light up a flare, don't you think so?", Jaune more stated than asked, as he looked at the scene in front of them.
Later that Evening:
Leaning back in his chair, Roman Torchwick could do nothing else, but curse his luck. 'No matter what happens, Red and her friends tend to manage to accidentally destroy everything!' He thought to himself, resting his head in his hands, his trademark hat beside him and not on his mop of orange hair, whilst he was listening to the report of Vale News in the TV.
"What should we do now Neo? Cinder is already unhappy about all the problems and now I have to go over and explain her that there is another setback in the plan, because another group of students interfered?" He asked his tri-coloured companion who had planted her petite form on the couch and was eating ice cream. Not really expecting an 'answer' from her, Roman was surprised when she put the bowl aside and grabbed her scroll.
"You still could call this person who Junior mentioned a while ago. Junior said he was pretty good at solving 'problems' and especially asked for this group of students. You should have his number on your scroll." Neo typed before she put her scroll down and redirected her attention back to her frosty treat.
'Well it is at least worth a try.' He thought to himself, as he prepared himself for the call.
"Yes? How can I help you?" Roman heard a calculating voice at the other end of the line. Deciding to not beat around the bush, he explained his problems and the need for his expertise in disposing of people.
"All right. We meet in two days. Near the dock is an empty warehouse, the one near the orange billboard. Be there at 2 PM. I will see you then Mr Torchwick." The man on the other side of the line stated, marking the end of the conversation
"Wait a second." Roman called into his scroll, before his mysterious contact could finish. "To whom am I exactly talking? What is your name?" He demanded to know.
Hearing nothing, Roman first thought he was too late and the contact already hang up, before he got his answer.
"You can call me Liu Yiwu."
That is the wrap for this chapter and (finally) the first appearance of a Terra Formars character that will not be part of the team. I mean we can't only have the good guys, am I right?
Also a question I had always in my mind is, should I do pairings or not? And if yes, what would you like to see? I actually can't imagine Alexander starting a relationship, since he did everything for his wife and unborn child (dying included), but I could see Adolf try to open up to a new relationship in the hope of getting past the cuckolding from his wife. Only obstacle I see in his case though is the fact that he still is technically 27 years old. Ivan and Isabella are the only ones without a prior relationship and could start something completely new.
And a second question, do you want Terraformars with your Grimm, to give Remnant a new thing to fear? Please tell me your thoughts about Roaches and Romance in a comment or PM.
Anyways, if you liked it follow, favourite and leave a review for me. If you don't like it, please leave a review too, I can always use critique.
That said, a big thank you to all those that followed, favorited and reviewed the story already, it really means a lot to me.
Rac95 out.
