White.

It's such a happy colour...

White is the colour of fat fluffy snowflakes that drift down from the heavens and land in her hands. The snow sticks to her mittens and she tells me with a grin brighter than the stars that they form the shape of a dragon. I can't see it. But because it's for her, I will laugh anyways.

White is the colour of her smile. Pearly white teeth showing as an expression of her delight as she pulls away from kissing my lips with her soft pink ones. Eyes like melted chocolate melting my heart.

White is the colour of the pond lilies in the water where we sit on the riverbank, legs in the water as the fish swim past our rods and hooks. I know that she doesn't like to fish. But she doesn't mind because she comes to spend time with me.

White is the colour of the diamond set into the ring that made her scream with joy. And later it was the colour of the wedding dress. A silken veil as pale as milk shielding her beautiful eyes from my sight, golden hair pinned with creamy pearls that glinted in the lowlights of the Cathedral as she walked towards me down the aisle.

But...

Hey Lucy I remember your name

White was the colour of the blast. An explosion of pure concentrated light that had knocked me aside as though I were no more than a stalk of wheat in a hurricane. I was stronger than she, and yet my body had hardly stayed in one piece.

I left a dozen roses

On your grave today.

White was the ambulance. The doors slamming behind the gurney with my love lying lifeless upon it. The sound of those doors closing was like the lid on a coffin. Not even the wail of a siren could drown out that sound.

I'm in the grass on my knees wipe the leaves away,

I just came to talk for a while,

I've got some things... I need to say

White were the harsh lights of the hospital as I clung to her warm hand.

Now that it's over

I just want to hold her

White was the sheet that had been laid over her delicate, angelic features to protect the dignity of the dead from prying eyes.

I'd give up all the world to see

That little piece of heaven looking back at me

… And white is the colour of the cold marble stone that I can scarce even look at without dying a little more inside. The inscription in curved calligraphy that mirrored her beautiful sweeping strokes of a quill as she sat for hours at a desk creating new worlds so much better than ours...

Now that it's over,

I just want to hold her,

I've got to live with the choices I've made

And I can't live with myself today

Here lies Lucy Heartfilia-Dragneel.

Loving wife, caring mother, and cherished wizard of Fairytail.

She sacrificed herself for the sake of our country's defense against the evils of Zeref and his followers.

She will be missed, and live on forever among the stars that she so adored.

Rest in peace

Here we are, now you're in my arms.

I never wanted anything so bad.

Here we are, for a brand new start,

living the life that we could have had.

Me and Lucy walking hand in hand,

Me and Lucy never want to end,

Just another moment in your eyes,

I'll see you

In another life

In heaven.

Where we'll never say goodbye.

No... As hard as I try, I can't bring myself to like white.

Hey Lucy I remember your name.

Not after what it took from me.
