"Mirror, mirror of the lan-"
Sharp and commanding came Mal's voice. "Stop." She looked to her closest confidant sternly before turning back to the royals. "I can handle this."
Everyone had their eyes on Mal. Silently most expected her to lash out with her new found powers, but she did not. The young king's grip on her tightened in worry.
Softly she spoke. "You're right." She closed her eyes briefly, only to open them with a smirk. "We were raised by villains and they taught us villain-y things, but what did you expect a villain to teach a kid? Definitely not love and kindness when they spent their entire lives trying to snuff those feelings out of the world." She shrugged as if unconcerned by the truth that to all others sounded like a confession of defeat.
She laughed dryly. "These are the people that kill, steal, poison, and curse anyone and everyone no matter the age that raised us, and your acting as if we had a choice in how we lived." She moved closer to the group that had confronted her. They all stepped back but Mal's eyes connected with Sleeping Beauty's mother anyway. "Just so you know, I am sorry my mother took her anger out on your daughter. I'm even sorry that you find the need to blame me for my mother's actions when I wasn't even close to being born. But even more so I'm sorry that you think my mother caused you to miss out on your daughter's life."
Ben jumped to attention, ready to jump in and save the day after such an accusation.
The Royal couple drew back in shock.
The Royal children within hearing range all gasped in shock.
The villain's children all looked to each other in confusion.
The Mother in question almost screamed in out rage if not for the words spoken next.
"My Mother has in fact lamented her greatest defeat and her greatest achievement to me many times." Here Mal's smirk disappeared. Her expression now revealed nothing but a blank mask. "My mother only cursed your daughter's sixteenth year not the fifteen that came before it."
Mal turned and walked away.
