In the beginning, this world was but an endless ocean.

Then Came the Eight;

The Trickster, The Angel, The Oracle, The Beast-mistress, The Guardian, The Destroyer, The Shadow and The Ascended.

The Trickster makes his Home atop the Mountains, where the Sky touches the Earth, and the four winds collide. He is Master of Storms and Heir of Breath. In his many depictions, his face is often hidden behind the mask of a Jester, for he is both Leader of the Gods and the most Light hearted. His blessing goes with all who would seek freedom and merriment.

The Angel dwells alone in the Desert Wastes, keeping time running ever onward with naught but the crows for company. He is both Keeper of Death and Knight of Time. In some images, he takes the form of the Fallen; a birdlike creature, wings flared, his chest pierced by a sword, and it is in this form he defends the dreaming dead. Few praise his name, but often prayers for the recently passed are said at his alter.

The Oracle resides wherever there is wisdom and knowledge waiting to be tapped. She is the Watcher of Fates and Seer of Light. Her face is never shown, hidden behind hair or below her low hanging hood, with only her slight smile visible. And though she smiles, her eyes weep tears of black liquid sorrow for the darkness in the spirit of Us All.

The Beast-mistress seeks out the wild places in the world, where all are free to roam. She is Queen of the Wilderness and Witch of Space. While she has taken many forms in her depictions; the Flower Maiden, the Sorceress, the Frog Hunter and so on, none resonates more than the Wolf Mother. Garbed in black, she dons a wolf-like mask and sets her hounds upon those who seek to claim this world for themselves.

The Guardian dwells in the fields where crops grow plentiful. She is Bringer of the Harvest and Maid of Life. Hers is the rich summer and bountiful harvest. She is surrounded by flowers, her temples often bedecked in living plants, but is often shown tethered bound to unseen forces by a crimson chain about her ankles. Prayers to her come from fishermen and farmers, butchers and bakers. All who fed others offer their praise to her.

The Destroyer sits in the Darkness, waiting to strike. He is a fierce deity, wrathful and strong. He is Breaker of Spirits and Prince of Heart. Nothing may be gained without sacrifice. His way is harsh and cut-throat but those who succeed in making it through his trials can face any adversity. Blood Sacrifices at his Alter are not uncommon, accompanied by prayers for safety from his empty Heart's rage.

The Shadow rest where Secrets lie ripe for the picking. She gives to those in need and is repulsed by self-serving tactics. She is Lady of the Night and Rouge of Void. Her Image is often shown surrounded by cats and wearing the mask of a bandit, as she steals things from the Void. Through her, that which has been lost may be found once more.

The Ascended goes where ever the path may take him. He is Bringer of Courage and Page of Hope. He wears a deep green coat and is often shown radiant, glowing with potential and the spirit of hope. His blessing falls upon those who dare to dream, to fantasize, to Hope. He, who hunts monsters and demons, was once the weakest of them all, unable to support himself without help. But he never gave up.
