~Author's Notes~

I've always loved Shakespeare's Sonnet 18. And for a while, I've wanted to rewrite it. Below, you'll find the sonnet as written by one Severus Snape to his lady love. Enjoy and please review!

Sonnet 394

Shall I compare thee to a potion's brew?

Thou art more spirited in thy temperament:

Rough hands do stir the elements anew,

And simmering heat hath all too short a limit:

Sometimes too hot the fire beneath thee shines,

And often is thy brilliance untended;

And every passion sometimes resides,

By chance, or brewers changing mind, amended;

But thy shimmer shall not fade

Nor lose possession of the beauty thou hast;

Nor shall bitterness within you reside,

When in everlasting sweetness thou grow'st;

So long as man can love, and eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
