Well, hello there readers and welcome to my newest story. I'm somewhat of a veteran writer here at fanfiction. Been on here for almost…twelve years. Boy, does that make me feel old!

I used to be a really dedicated writer like five years ago, but now, I just kind of write a story whenever inspiration strikes. And, so, here I am.

This idea just randomly came to me and it's the first story I've written like this. I'm typically a romance writer, but this is more of an action/mystery story. So, hopefully you all enjoy!

The Dark Side Of The Moon

00: Prologue

Location: Azabu-Juban

Time: 12:07 A.M

It is just past midnight. Darkness has blanketed the area as streetlights offer the only means of light. The random babbling of the neighborhood dogs and the instrumental orchestra of crickets bring the only noise with silence settling upon the residential area. It's peaceful.

However, as the saying goes…whenever it's quiet, it's "too quiet"…

A figure moves swiftly through the streets of the Juban district. Taking full advantage of the night cloaking their appearance. Cat-like, they navigate the area with poise and caution, avoiding any and all detection.

They are clearly on a mission.

'If memory serves me right, it should be just around the corner…'

The mysterious figure feels as their heart starts to pound harder and harder in anticipation. Their pace quickens with each beat while the road turns into a new street.

They stop.

Their heartbeat had become sporadic and offbeat. Igniting a numbing chill that electrified from head to toe with every THUD!

They had reached their destination: a house. To anyone, it was nothing more then your typical suburban home. No different then any other house that could be found on this street. However, this was no ordinary house. This house contained something special inside.

A soft sigh of relief escaped the figure's lips as they descended upon the home, slinking across the front yard. They stop. Their attention shifts upwards, peering up at the balcony located on the second level.

Then, in a swift move of acrobatic envy, the figure leapt high into the air becoming level with the balcony. Their hands soon found contact with the balcony's edge as they propelled their body higher, using the momentum to spiral flip, before gracefully -and stylishly- landing center of the housing fixture.

The figure gazes ahead, eyes locked, on the next obstacle that lay ahead; a sliding glass door. Step by step, the figure approached the door, gingerly placing their hands on the door's handle. Then, in one swift movement…its opens!

'They're so trusting!'

Slithering inside, the figure took a moment to take in their newfound surroundings. Their eyes soon lock onto their target, just feet away. Cautiously they descend, their breathing has slowed, heart rate quickened as uncontrollable perspiration has found its way to the surface.

'Careful. Careful…you're almost there. Almost.'

Their movement ceases. They have now found themselves standing directly over their target. It's a girl. She sleeps soundly in her bed; dressed in purple pajamas that advertised cartoonish bunny patterns with her long blonde hair, unkempt, as it draped off the sides of the mattress. Her breathing was heavy-almost snoring-as drool slipped from the side of her mouth and down her chin. She looked so innocent.

The figure sighed. Regret coursing through their body.

'I apologize, Usagi. I have no other choice…'
