Disclaimer: yeah you know how it is.
Dark Matter
Title - Pay Dearly
Summary - The world had shifted again. Four wakes up after the events of the season finale.
Four remembered the mess hall, remembered a traitor, and his remarks in regard to someone coming after him. He remembered his muscles going lax, his vision going gray and hitting the floor.
Perhaps he'd been too arrogant and maybe even too complacent. He wouldn't make the same mistake. Coming awake with a harsh pain, he wasn't surprised to find himself restrained and unarmed. Seeing most of his entourage similarly bound and locked in a sealed, gray room, he could only assume the traitor succeeded.
"What happened?"
Five knelt in the center of the small room. Her gaze was hollow, eyes red rimmed and shining. She opened her mouth, but nothing came out but a sob. Four looked to Three next, vision tilting and hazy. The man sat cross-legged next to her, shoulders touching in an unusual, silent show of support.
"Six slipped you a roofie," the older man told him. Four knew that Three used humor to deal with bad situations. That wouldn't stop him from beating him to get a straight answer. His hands were bound and his balance was non-existent, but he was confident that he could take Three on his worst day.
Against a wall, One sat folded forward, head on knees, and elaborated vaguely.
"Barbiturates. Knockout gas. Galactic Authority."
Four's brain tripped a little putting the pieces together. He'd been drugged, poisoned and dishonored by not even being given the opportunity to defend himself. A traitor and a coward did not deserve an honorable or a swift death.
"I thought it was Two," Five murmured, voice wrong and flat. "Three thought it was One, One thought it was Three, but it was Six. It was Six." Her voice broke.
The world wasn't clear yet, but he saw enough. Rage and betrayal colored the edges red.
"We're going to kill him," Four said, every inch the prince amongst his court.
"Agreed," Three responded immediately.
"No arguments," One moaned.
They looked at Five. She was terrible at controlling her emotions. Fury and heartbreak warred for a place on her face, eyes shining with unshed tears.
"They took Two. I thought it we - I could trust him. But he betrayed all of us. He turned us against each other, and he hurt Android. He...he's -"
"He is an enemy. If you can't get on board with putting him down, kid, then just stay out of the way," Three told her not unkindly but with that same bluntness as ever.
"Oh, I'm on board. I'm just laying it all out there so we all know what a giant, stupid, back-stabbing, stupid head jerk he is."
Four didn't stop the smirk from showing through. Though tiny, their little warrior was fierce.
"Hey, One, you think we need to run this by Two?" Three asked.
"Shut up, idiot."
This was the second time he woke up, and nothing was as it should be. At least this time, it wasn't to find himself and everyone around him strangers. This time, he had his true family on his side, his new brothers and little sisters. And Six would be the first of the old to be dealt with.
A/N: Five might be a tad OOC but I feel like that bloodthirsty calculated thinking is bound to happen since she's not hanging with this crew but also Four is training her. She's already proven she can kill to protect her family though it may not be so easy for her to kill Six for real. Talking and doing are two very different things
