Echoes of Silence

The feelings she brings out in him are dangerous.

The feelings she brings out in him are dangerous.

When Paul wakes up with her wrapped tightly in his arms the next morning, he realizes there is very little that he wouldn't do for her.

It is frightening, and for a moment he is fighting the urge to bolt until she mumbles something and shifts around in his arms, causing him to smile.

It isn't hard for him to realize the real danger is in how happy she makes him feel, that the feeling of her in his arms, trusting him, is better than anything else he's ever felt.

Silence creeps in on them again, and he's okay with it because the moment she opens her eyes and looks into his there is nothing hidden like there once was.

She cares for him, as much as she is able to care about anyone, and there is trust there without the wild panic that he would see when she looked at Cullen.

Paul hopes she can see how he feels, and when a small, soft smile spreads across those pretty pink lips, known for spouting cocky insults and far more bravado than she actually possesses he knows that she can see the truth.

There is no need for words when she can see how much he loves her.

Smiling once again, Paul dipped his head and pressed his lips to hers, his tongue exploring her mouth at a lazy pace, amazed at how sweet she tastes.

And finally the silence is broken once again, as she moans softly into the kiss and presses her body against his, one hand clenching on his bicep.

He was never one for complete silence.
