Hello, everyone!
Thank you all for waiting for this next chapter. Please let me know what you think!
Beastboy and Robin saw the lights flicker for a moment. It was the heat of the match with Beastboy was winning against Robin. Cyborg and Beastboy knew he had one pixel of life still left and was ready to counter. The two titans glanced at each other; Beastboy grinned at the reset.
"We can count that time so I win," Beastboy said, counting his lucky stars.
"What? No! Why does it always happen when I'm about to win!" Robin said, tossing his controller onto the couch. "I'll check the cameras and make sure the girls are OK."
"Pretty sure that was Raven. Or did the sensors pick up something?"
Robin had a feeling that Beastboy was right. But, as the leader, he needed to make sure everyone was safe. Lights flickered ever so often but usually when Beastboy was messing around with Raven.
"It would take a minute but I just want to make sure," he said. He was already beginning to run the security cameras. Beastboy was already walking towards the door, ready to check on the girls. "I hope it was Raven."
The room was dark and quiet. Starfire and Raven still haven't moved; Starfire still in denial. She was beyond surprised and didn't know what to say. Starfire didn't want to scare her dear friend away.
"Friend Raven, are you still here?" Star mumbled. She struggled to withhold her happiness. Raven used her powers to move the curtains, giving the room some light. Raven saw Starfire struggle to hold a straight face. She needed advice for Beastboy. She could feel her cheeks heat up more. Biting her lower lip, she closed her eyes, looking annoyed.
"Before you say anything...Get it out of your system."
Starfire nodded her head and finally gave in, smiling widely.
"I understand, friend. Thank you," Starfire said. She was silent for a moment before screaming in joy. Raven was quick to cover her ears, groaning. Starfire begun to fly around the room in circles before tackling Raven in a hug. She was surprisingly gentle, trying her best not to crush her. Still trembling with joy, Star let go of Raven, sitting back down on the bed.
"Are you done?" Raven asked. Starfire nodded, giggling, "So, what do I do now?"
"Raven, I am not sure what you can do other then spend time with him. Spend as much as you can."
"I can't!" Raven replied, eyes widening.
"I know it will be difficult but you must," Starfire said, "Otherwise, how would you be able to protect the city if you can't work with your team?"
Much to Raven's surprise, Star was right. She needed to get over her incidents if she wanted to fight crime. Usually, Beastboy and her worked as a pair. Rarely did they ever go through the portal without each other. She kept him focused in his work; it was something Robin appreciated.
"So I have to spend time with him," she said, hanging her head, sighing.
"Yes. It is the only way to face him," Starfire explained. Raven nodded, "If I may, friend...How much did you see?"
"I...I saw it all," Raven said, covering her eyes with her hand. She knew Starfire was going to be curious.
"And?" Starfire asked, knowing there was more. Raven gave up. She needed to tell someone so she could regain her balance again.
"I would like to see it again," she grumbled, speaking slowly, as if in pain. It was so…"
Raven bit her lip and looked away. Starfire smiled.
"This is wonderful!" Starfire said. Beastboy broke the door, his fingers gripping onto the hinges.
"I heard screaming, are you guys OK?" he asked. Raven studied him, seeing the light hug his body perfectly. The moonlight from her room glistened over his eyes. She was smiling before she could even stop.
"Why are you here, friend?"
"The power in the tower went out for a sec so we didn't know if we were under attack, so I came here." Beastboy paused. "Why didn't I use the communicator?"
"We could have been in combat with no time to respond," Starfire said simply. Beastboy looked around the room and saw the mess. He moved closer to Raven; she had her face down, refusing to glance at him. Starfire was silent, keeping close to the walls.
"Rae?" he asked, tilting his head to the side, getting a better glimpse of her, "You OK?"
"I," she mumbled before closing her mouth. She held back as much as she could, "I'm just a bit tired." She smiled softly, something small but clearly there. Her cheeks, once more, were dusted pink.
"Get some rest then," Beastboy said, smiling back. Starfire didn't know how to react but she did not have a chance. Raven had looked up at Beastboy and all she could see was the water running down his body, the hardness of his toned muscles..She gasped as the power surged again, books flying around the room. Her dresser tore open, clothing flying about.
"Are you alright, Beastboy?" Starfire called, her back against the wall. Beastboy had pushed Raven down, avoiding all the flying objects. Raven knew he was on top of her. She knew, as she breathed, all the movement of her books and clothes, started to slow down. Yet, she could only see and feel Beastboy.
I'm a mess. I need...I need to go with the flow.
"That book got me good, man," Beastboy said. He stood, offering his hand to her, "But, I think I'm good."
She was more than happy that her hair covered her face. Right now, all Raven needed was some tea. She refused to make eye contact as she stood, her fingers lingering over his.
"Let's just go to the common room please," she said. Starfire and Beastboy nodded without a word. Raven grabbed her cloak and marched out; the others followed rather quickly. Beastboy didn't know what exactly had happened but he wasn't willing to ask Raven; she seemed to have enough on her mind.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Malchior...No, she seems cool with it now. There has to be something else, better not test my luck tonight.
Robin heard the door open behind him and turned, spotting Raven walking out. Beastboy and Starfire soon followed, surprisingly quiet.
"Is something wrong?" he asked. Raven remained silent, approaching the kitchen, prepping her teapot.
"No, nothing is wrong. Friend Raven just needs to...wind the down, as you would say," Starfire said. Robin looked at Beastboy for some answers but he just shrugged.
"I have no idea, man."
"Let's just finish dinner and relax before going on patrol."
"I am afraid I cannot finish dinner."
"Why?" Beastboy asked, bouncing onto the sofa.
"Raven's powers went out in her room, making a mess of things here...including our meals."
"I...I'm sorry," Raven said, biting her lower lip. She stayed by the stove, waiting for the teapot to finish.
"Don't worry, Raven. This only means we can share some of the food; I can share with Star," Robin said with a wink. Starfire giggled, floating over to her lover. Everything did settle down for a while. Beastboy picked at his food, Raven sat nearby and drank her tea. She had a book nearby that helped her keep her mind off of Beastboy. Robin and Starfire sat close together, sharing food in-between laughs and winks.
"Rae, you want some?"
"No thank you. You know I don't eat tofu."
"Ah, but you're wrong here. I made you a fresh plate," He said, placing a plate in front of her, plopping down by the seat to her right. Sighing softly, she closed her book.
"Thanks," she said. The two shared a plate, having a quiet discussion to themselves till Beastboy let her be. Beastboy noticed that she was nervous around him and didn't want to bother her.
The time did come for Robin and Starfire to go on their date. Robin had sweared back and forth that this was something casual (and they were going to patrol first!) but his outfit did little to prove his point.
"Look, Rob, I'll do you a favor. Enjoy your date and I'll stay up to watch the alarm; go have some fun." Cy knew star needed this.
"Thanks but we'll still patrol before hitting the clubs."
"Is Raven still in her meditation?" Star asked, her voice echoing from the hallway. Beastboy spotted Raven by the window, floating with the cloak wrapped around her.
Beastboy look in the common room to see Raven at the window still doing her thing. "Yeah."
"Please tell her I wish her a good night."
"Are we going to be staying out late?" Robin asked.
"We late are we staying out?" Ask Robin. Starfire just laughed and grabbed Robin's arm, leading him to the exit. Beastboy waved them off before re-entering the common room. He cleaned the dishes from dinner before running to his room to get a book and a handheld. All the while, Raven remained afloat, her mouth shut. Beastboy dimmed the lights and started to play his games.
It was late when Raven finally moved. She flew down from her spot and approached the sofa. She felt tired and just wanted to sleep at this point. Suppressing her Lust form Beastboy had worn her down. Normally, Beastboy's antics annoyed her and dug deep under the skin, but now, after his fight with Malchior, he gave her emotions to think about. She had to take time to refocus and bring herself balance.
She wasn't completely back but the lack of energy didn't help her continue. With Happy, Love, Brave, and Lust to calm down, it took all her strength; she was thankful that the other emotions were not so much of a problem. As she approached the couch, Raven stepped over a blanket. She glanced down and saw Beastboy sleeping on the floor, arms tucked under a pillow. A bag of vegan chips and soda were parked nearby, the can half empty, bag fully eaten.
Must have waited for me.
She sat by him, staring out the window, watching the city live for a while. Finally, she lowered the blinds with her powers and stood.
"No," Love whispered, "Stay."
I need to go to sleep.
"I know but for tonight, please...just stay close to him."
Raven looked down at Beastboy's sleeping form and sighed. She sat back down and grabbed a nearby pillow, keeping herself propped. She closed her eyes, feeling her body relax almost instantly.
"Thank you," a voice whispered from her mind.
Starfire and Robin got home late, stumbling in their heavy steps. It was well past three in the morning and all Robin wanted to do was sleep. Starfire seemed so overjoyed and followed along, her fingers gliding along his arms. She had an amazing date; Robin took her to a late dinner, walked in the park, stopped a jewel thief, and slow-danced with her at a local club. She sighed in bliss, closing her eyes for a moment. She knew that mating season was always difficult with him yet he never complained. He still made her feel like his world.
Robin let her to her room, kissing her softly. Her grip was tight on his shoulders, letting the kiss linger for a bit more. He finally pulled away, a full blown smile tight on his lips. By then, Starfire was floating again, her fingers still keeping a small grip on his sleeve. He took her hand, beginning to lead her to his room instead.
"Before we go, I must get something to drink," she said. Robin nodded.
"I will see you soon."
Starfire moved quickly, flying into the common room; she wanted to be with Robin quickly. She moved through the sliding door and instantly heard snoring. Arching an orange brow, Starfire lit a starbolt and flew by the sound. Spotting Raven and Beastboy sleeping, she couldn't help but gush. Beastboy was sleeping on the floor, curled with a blanket and pillow. Raven was beside him, on the sofa but tilted to the side, one hand pressed against the boy's face. The starbolt faded and Starfire with it; she wanted to join in on the sleep with her lover.
Raven awoke, not knowing what time of day it was. She could feel like it was off and her brain worked to recall the memories from the night before.
I'm not in my room?
She moved her head, groaning, spotting Beastboy smile. Smiling, she moved her hand along his skin, hearing him purr. Her eyes drifted and spotted the digits, tucked under his shirt. Realization dawned and she backed away, nearly falling over. Standing, she dusted herself.
Why can't I seem to stay off of him even when I'm sleeping?
She stood still, watching him for a bit longer before warping away into her messy room. She took some time, putting away the books and clothing before returning to the common room; Beastboy was still asleep on the floor. Using her powers, she lifted him onto the sofa before making herself more tea.
It was quiet, she remarked, and it felt typical. Robin would be half-awake and half-asleep for awhile; he never slept with Starfire when she was like this. Raven knew Beastboy could sleep till noon if he was left alone, too. She let him be knowing he sure earned his rest after taking on a dragon.
Beastboy awoke seeing the sun in his face. Noted the scent of lavender he knew raven came to check on him. Leave his spot he gather the pillow and sheet putting them always before going to his room, to get ready for the day. He returned to are, heading to the kitchen to make himself and Raven some waffles. Beastboy gave Cy a quick call his cat part he order form the mall came in today. Beast Boy figured he might as well ask Raven about last night.
"Raven, how are you doing?" he asked, plopping down beside her, fork in mouth with waffles.
"I'm fine."
"Good. Last night you were nervous for some reason."
"Well...That happens a lot," she replied. The situation with Beastboy flashed in her head.
"Yeah? Sorry about some of that."
"It's alright."
"So, whose day is it today?"
"Let me think," she grumbled. It took moments for it to dawn to her, "It's Lust."
"That's gotta be fun, right?" he joked.
"You have absolutely no idea."
For most of the morning, Raven and Beastboy relaxed. Robin came in, his hair and uniform askew. He barely spoke, grabbed his coffee and left. It didn't take long after that for Beastboy to be bored; he went for the big guns.
"Hey, Raven?"
"What?" she replied, peeking from her borrowed book.
"Do you want to do anything before I go in your head again?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I was thinking of doing what your emotions want. I think that's cool and all but," he started. He paused, not knowing what he was doing. Yet, it was too late to stop, "But, would there be anything you would like to do or ask me?"
Azar you are thoughtful…
"I haven't given it much thought," she replied, completely surprised with him.
"Really?"
"Yes. I really couldn't think of anything to do with you," she said. She could already feel a headache incoming.
"Oh. Ok," he responded, looking disappointed, "I guess I'll play some games till we go, then."
Raven watched as he stood and went over to the couch, setting up the Gamestation to play. Although she looked focused on her book, her mind was elsewhere. For a while, pages remained unturned.
"Raven, why didn't you take his offer?" Brave yelled, flailing her arms.
"You did miss the perfect opportunity to gain great insight," Knowledge added.
"What did you want me to do without any plan? I had no idea how to answer!" she retorted.
"This is true. Beastboy did throw a wild one on us," Wisdom said.
"So, what do we do now?" Love asked.
"We can go out with him if you want," Rude said, throwing out the suggestion.
"What about me!" Lust cried out, "It's my day!"
"True. We can't just break the deal," Love said with a sigh.
"What if I take over and go on a date with him?" Lust suggested.
"You're not being funny," Raven stated.
"It was worth a shot."
"Why don't you just ask him a question?" Envy asked.
"Okay but what?" Raven asked.
"Well, Raven, he asked you," Timid said.
"Great. He offered me a free question and I can't think of anything," she felt like yelling out loud. "What about him do I want to know?"
"How about how he feels about you?" Love asked back.
"This isn't the time for that."
"You are right but this is your question," Love said. She stepped back, having nothing else to say. Rage found the answer quickly; what could Raven ask.
"You want to know how long Beastboy has been communicating with the beast," Rage said.
"Ah, that's right. Thank you," Raven said. She wanted to see the emotion but Rage already vanished. Happy smiled.
"You know when it involves Beastboy she tends to be more helpful."
"I was thinking that!" Envy whispered.
"Raven, there is your question. Now, go seek your answer," Wisdom said.
Raven was back in the real world, book over her lap. She blinked a few times and looked up, expecting to see Beastboy on the Gamesation. He was already away from the TV, talking to Starfire. She didn't spot Robin nearby but that didn't bother her. Closing her book, Raven stood and approached them.
"Hello, friend Raven. Are you done reading?" Starfire asked, "Did you have a pleasant sleep?"
"Fine, thank you," she replied. One look at Starfire and she knew - they both did. She knew of last night. Shaking her head, Raven turned to Beastboy.
"I have a question. Can we talk elsewhere?"
"Oh," he said. He looked at Starfire and smiled, waving him off, "Sure, lead the way."
Beastboy followed Raven down the hallway towards the roof. Once there, he tilted his head, rather curious.
"So, what questions do you have?"
"I don't know how to bring this up. But, I remember you said you communicate with the Beast," she started. Beastboy straightened himself, "I want to know more about it."
"Really? Why?"
"You ask if there is anything I wanted to do and it this.?"
"Yeah, I guess I did," he said. He took a seat at the ledge, letting his feet hang. Raven joined him, waiting for him to start. "I think it's different from your emotions. But, I still don't know how it all works. Ever since I began the Beast was always there."
"You need to go into details."
"I don't know where to begin."
"Start with what makes sense the most."
"Well, I know he is me. Everything that I feel like I should be," he said, "Every impulse I get from my powers. When I was a kid, I didn't know what to do with myself so I was a handful." He thought of his past but didn't know how to continue. "The Beast is all your emotions...in one. He is my rage, happiness, my affection, my desire. He's even my reflexes."
"Did he just call me?" Lust called out.
"He also called me!" Happy sung.
Now is not the time!
"How is that a problem?" she asked.
"It's not a problem. I can see myself doing everything like he said. I can see myself ripping my enemy to pieces, hunt animals in the forest. Anything that would make me feel like a predator, I see it."
It sounds a little like Rage when she was under Trigon's influence.
"But it's not only that. I feel like I should be showing off how strong I am to any girl that looks good. That, I am in control."
"What do you do to keep it down?" Raven asked. She wasn't sure if he did.
"I play games. I let my mind focus on one thing. I'm glad I'm a Titan 'cause I get all the action I need by being a hero. I snack all the time because of my high metabolism and the rest I just deal with."
"What do you mean?"
"Everytime I have a chance to show a little bit of my dominance, the Beast is there telling me how easy it would be to just let it go..to just become the alpha."
"Oh."
"I found that it was easier to act the fool; it was most harmless of my impulses."
"Harmless when you ruin some of my books."
"Yeah, sorry about that," he said, laying back. He looked at the sun started to hide behind the clouds. "Like I want in my own place. To get attention by making messes and bugging the team. Eating and sleeping all day, even when I'm not lazy. Those were when my instincts were the strongest. Being a joker was more nature; I was still a kid when the team first formed."
"What are your strongest instincts now?" she asked, looking down at him.
"A mix of joker and desire," he answered. He forced himself to look up; he wanted to look over her body. Raven, feeling awkward, backed off.
"How does the Besat effect them now?"
"He increases the feeling," he answered, sitting back up, "I usually go to the gym and work off the energy. Sometimes, I just relaxed and they go away. But, most of the time I try not to think about it. It gets really hard not to think about it." thinking back Star outfit really don't help much self being near Raven sometimes.
"About your desire, right?" she asked. He nodded, closing his eyes, "Can't you control it?"
"It's not about controlling. It feels natural to feel this way. It's the part where I don't act on it that drives me crazy."
"Sounds like Beast Boy's powers have a lot of side effects," Rude said.
"Yes, you are correct," Knowledge said, "It seems he has a lot to deal with."
Being a half demon isn't easy.
"Does anything in the tower make it worse for him?" Timid asked. Raven snapped out of the conversation, feeling Beastboy's stare. She knew he was waiting on her.
"Is there someone that triggers it?"
"That's a little too much information for you."
"What? Why?"
"You ask if I talked to the Beast. Nothing more."
Raven gave a sour expression, feeling robbed of his response.
"Fair enough. What else can you tell me?"
"The Beast speaks through my impulses and mostly, he just talks to me like a voice in my head. He doesn't say much but he gets his point across."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"The one major difference is that some of my emotions keep the others in check so I don't lose control. Sounds like your Beast is free to do as he likes."
"You make it sound like its bad to think."
"Is it not?"
"Yes and no. Because he only wants what I want. The thing is that he believes I can get it; he will go after it."
"I understand. I was taught not to feel anything or to feel as little as possible."
"Hey...why were you taught not to feel anything anyways?"
"In order to control my powers. The main reason was to help avoid Trigon; he could track me easily if I was to feel and show my emotions but it was really to never let me feel Rage. If you feel one emotion you will feel the rest, feel none you are peace. Feel one and you will feel the rest."
"But he's gone now. What's holding you back?"
"It's just how I do things. I've been doing it all my life and that's all I know. Even if I can show a little emotion, I don't think I'll ever stop being reserved."
"Well, I can help you. With expressing yourself I mean."
"Thanks. I'd like that," she said. Raven pulled her legs to her chest and held them. She leaned her head to the side and smiled softly. Her voice was soft and clear and Beastboy could not help but awe in her beauty. He blushed, thinking she couldn't have been more adorable. Beastboy didn't have his guard up and Raven felt his emotions; it sunk out. She was shocked to feel his emotions - like dipping into the cold ocean. It had been months since she felt him. She missed being able to read him and see what he was feeling.
This sensation was much more than she felt from Cyborg and Robin. This was a profound tender compassion she never felt before. No one felt that way about her. Yet, she could feel that she was only scratching the surface of his feelings.
She's smiling…
His eyes traveled over the Empath's body and stopped at her face. He caught her eyew and saw it. She always had this look when she sensed someone's emotions. It was the slightest change but he always seemed to catch it. It had taken him a long time after the Beast came out but he can tell.
She was beginning to sense something and he could only wonder how he would feel if they lingered.
Oh no.
He shook his head, the tips of his ears starting to turn red. His cheeks flushed as he started to stand.
"I...I have to get going."
"Where are you going?"
"For a swim," he answered. He jumped before she could say anymore. She was left alone on the roof.
"I felt them. I really did," she whispered.
"His emotions were so gentle," Love said, sighing in content.
"It really has been a while," Timid added.
"Was that towards us, though?" Lust asked.
"I don't know but we can't assume," Wisdom replied.
"We are the only ones here and he was looking at Raven," Brave remarked.
"It must have been something you did, Raven. He would never have reacted in such a matter," Knowledge said.
"What did you do?" Envy asked.
"I don't know," Raven said, staring out at the sea, "But.."
"I want to feel that again. I want to see his priceless face one more time," Lust quipped.
"He really looked cute just now," Happy said.
"His happiness was intoxicating but that wasn't all just him."
"It was his mix with affection," Love noted, "He deeply cares for you, Raven."
Raven wasn't paying attention at this point. She was at a loss thinking of Beastboy's emotions. The way his eyes looked at Raven; she saw it too. When she thought of it, she never saw him look at Terra that way. Envy made sure to never miss a detail when they were together.
"So when...it has to be a while back?" she thought. She started to think back and could only remember an instance where she saw that face. It was first spotted at the park.
It was before Malchior, before the Beast. She and Beastboy didn't talk much then; in fact she speak to the team generally. Beastboy had approached her while she was reading, sitting on the grass with her hood down. She had felt his stare and looked up. He was just frozen, looking at her. His eyes gave out tranquility like he found home. Raven had quickly stood and left. He took his time in place before returning to the table with their teammates.
"I was too annoyed with him back then. I never checked his emotions. They were always such a mess."
"To be fair, he was young," Knowledge said.
"So was I," Raven said, "Going to have to center myself before he gets back." She walked back to her room with a skip in her step. The more she understood the Beast, the more she understood Beastboy's feelings.
Out in the ocean ways, Beastboy raced through the depths as a swordfish.
Damn it, Rae! Why are you so perfect!
The image of her was forever printed in his mind. Beastboy shot out of water, morphing into his human form. He crashed under and resurfaced, floating along the waves.
"Man, this deal with her emotions is really getting to me. Seeing them is really awesome, each one is so amazing and Rae in their own way. But, she can't be beat. She is just beautiful in everything she does." He thought of today and how he had time before hanging out with her emotions. "I'm glad I can stop myself before she dug any deeper. If she wanted, she could have read me like a book."
YOU SHOULD CLAIM HER.
"She has to pick me, not the other way around. You know that."
AND IF SHE DOESN'T?
"I don't know. But, I'll make sure she's happy either way."
WE ARE MORE THAN WORTHY.
"Can you be sure?"
...BUT OF COURSE.
Beastboy began his swim back towards the tower, lingering in his human more.
"I get it, we are the same. I'll tell her one day. I can't see the outcome I would like but you never know, yeah?"
He felt satisfied, happy for a while since the Beast had appeared. He knew there was a slight chance but that was enough. He finally returned to the tower, making it just in time for lunch. He wasn't sure what Raven would say but she wasn't around the kitchen area when he stopped by. Robin mentioned in passing (with another cup of coffee) that Raven was waiting for him. Robin returned to the movie on the TV, sitting beside Starfire. Beastboy grabbed an apple and left towards Raven's room.
Beastboy was a few feet away from her door when it opened, revealing Raven.
"Oh. I was going to see if you were eating. Or ate."
"I just finished. Want to get going?" she asked. He walked into her room, following her as she approached her mirror.
The candles are out. She must have meditated.
"Ready?" Raven asked, stepping by Beastboy. He smiled, nodding.
"Yep."
He held his arm and Raven happily took it. He held her tight as they traveled into the Nevermore.
I'm really going to miss doing this when this is over.
He noticed that Raven held on more as they traveled, hesitant to let him go. Landing in the center of Nevermore, they waited for the emotions to show up. Raven wasn't sure what Lust had in mind but she wanted to see that reaction from him again. She thought of what set him off once more. Did she say or do anything?
Why didn't I read his mind when I had the chance?
Raven saw the group approach and start to greet Beastboy. After a few minutes, Beastboy felt the stare from Lust.
"As you know it's my day."
"Yeah…"
"Don't worry. I can't have too much fun with Raven here.
"Lust," Raven warned.
Not sure if I should be happy about that or not?Beastboy knew what she was talking about.
"So, are you for my question?"
"Sure?" he asked, feeling a bit uneased - was she testing him?
With a scarlet glow coming from her eyes, everyone was teleported into Lust's realm, squeezing into her room. Beastboy remembered how amazing her room looked.
"I am sure you know this already but Raven thinks she's a bit too creepy for this world."
"Lust, what are you doing?" Raven , Knowledge, and Rage stood in front of Raven, blocking her movement.
"Let me finish," Lust replied. She walked up to Beastboy and gave a small smile, "What will you tell her to make her feel different?"
"I don't know what I can say," Beastboy answered, "But I'll show her the world is wrong."
"How?"
"I make her see it from my eyes," he said. Raven smiled a little. Lust, however, took his response seriously; she never took things seriously.
"And if that fails?" she snickered.
"I'll show her the creepiest place in the world."
"Not sure if she would want to see that," Lust replied, lying easily. Judging by Raven's sudden expression, she knew that Raven would enjoy it. "Would you try to make her seem normal?"
"Gods, no. She's great how she is."
"Then what will you do?" Lust pushed, removing her cloak.
"I...I uh," he started, turning to look elsewhere. All around him, the emotions were waiting for his response, "Then it wouldn't matter if she thinks that she's creepy."
"Why?" Lust asked, taking a seat on her bed. She kicked her shoes off, stretching her legs.
"Because I don't see her that way."
"And how do you see her?"
"She's my best friend and if the world can't see how great she is, then they're missing out on the greatest hero they have."
"Oh, BB!" Happy sung, hugging Beastboy from behind, "Thank you! Thank you!"
"No problem?"
"You really think that?" Timid asked. He nodded, making the shyest emotion smile.
"B, thank you for seeing how great I am," Brave said, causing Beastboy to laugh. Love walked over to Rage and Raven.
"And you still don't want him?" she whispered.
"I never said that."
"Then go get him already," Rage muttered.
"I'm," Raven said, lowering her head, "I'm working on it…"
"Yeah...Like a snail," Rude said. Ignoring her comment, Raven approached Beastboy.
"So, what are we doing today?"
"We're all going for a swim," Lust said. She approached her closet and parted the doors. Grabbing the bikinis, she laid them out on the bed. "Come on, girls, pick one!"
"I would like to sit this one out, please," Timid said, raising her hand.
"Nope! All of us have to put something on," Lust demanded.
"Fine with me," Brave shrugged, "Let me get the hottest one."
"This can be fun," Happy said, approaching the selection. Love walked over, fingers playing with the fabric of one set.
"It's been a while since we had a day on the beach."
"I'd rather do anything else then wear what you have," Rude said.
"You can clean my shower."
"I'll take that one piece over there…"
"Hey, Beastboy!" Lust called. She held up a stringy two-piece, "Do you think this would look good on Raven?"
Beastboy jumped, just a few steps away from the door, Wisdom trailing behind him.
"Damn…"
"It was worth a try," Wisdom sighed.
"Come on, Beastboy. We have to know what you like," Lust said, giving him an honest smile. Raven flushed, clenching her fists.
"Oh no, Beastboy! Get out!" she screeched. He was gone before she could yell again, slamming the door behind himself. Lust sighed, looking at her feet in disappointment. The other emotions were still occupied with looking for a swimsuit. "What were you trying to do?"
"Raven, you felt him earlier. His emotions were incredible."
"So?"
"I need to feel that again...I crave it," she said. Her hands shook and she tucked them away. "I don't want to forget it and it doesn't last long enough to remember."
"Let me ask you again; what were you doing?"
"Ugh! Look, Love and Knowledge can you guys explain it to her? I'll just mess it up."
"Your reaction to Beastboy's outburst of emotions were quite minimal. You let your mind do most of the digesting which is why you didn't feel the imbalance."
"I handled it well. So what?"
"True. But, deep down, you want to feel them again," Love said.
"Get to the point...Why weren't you affected by his affection?"
"Oh, Raven," Love started. She shook her head and laughed, "I am. When I saw him, I didn't know how to say hi. I still need to keep my distance before I say something stupid in front of him. Or even around him."
"Perfect!" Lust said, holding up the bikini she was looking for, "Look, you yearn for his emotions. You want that look. Which means we are going to get it today if its the last thing we do. This is our mission."
"But, a day of swimming is your best plan?"
"Do you know how hard it is to keep this PG-13 and be me?"
Lust was following the rules that were set down by Raven. She couldn't do anything with Beastboy. She had put a lot of effort into this; her question for Beastboy was also well thought.
"Fine. But, why can't I wear my uniform?" Raven asked. Timid looked up from the bikinis, hope in her eyes.
"No. You are joining all of us in this, Raven," Lust said. Timid looked back at the clothing, sighing. She wanted something that didn't show much; the only one piece was already taken.
Beastboy was waiting for them in the kitchen of the house. He had made himself something to eat and had even cleaned the dishes. What could be taking them so long?
I don't know what to do. On one hand, I can leave and not risk Raven reading me in a bikini.
He already knew that calling the day off would be the best choice. But, at the same time, he did not want to let Lust down. He also really wanted to see Raven in a bikini.
Her uniform does leave very little to the imagination... Oh, man. I hope they don't pick something to erotic.
ENJOY HER GIFT.
That's the plan...Man, I need to focus like I did with Mento all those years ago.
"Ok, Beastboy! You can come up," Envy yelled from upstairs.
"Here goes nothing," he said, walking up the stairs. He entered the room, seeing everyone with their cloaks on.
Aww…
"Are we not going swimming?" he asked. He didn't see Raven around either, actually.
"We are," Lust answered, "But, you are going to have to change."
"Sure. But, I didn't bring anything."
Happy giggled, skipping over to him, handing over a pair of speedos. He eyed the skimpy material, unsure how to react.
"I...I can't wear this."
"Come on, B. You can so pull it off," Brave said.
"You would look great in them," Envy added.
"Not happening…"
"Do it, please. For me?" Lust asked, leaning closer to him, winking.
"Why would I ever...Guys, a little help here?" he asked, keeping his distance from Lust.
"Lust, it would be for the best if you didn't go after him today," Knowledge commented. Her statement, however, went unheard. Wisdom quickly got in the way, getting close to Lust.
"Don't you think you're asking for too much?: she asked. She moved in closer, lowering her voice, "Don't push your luck."
Lust stopped, knowing Wisdom was right. She knew that getting Raven to wear a bikini was enough. She wasn't sure how she would react with Lust forcing Beastboy to wear speedos.
"Timid, make those safe to wear, would ya?"
"Really?" Timid asked, perking up, "Ok!" Her hands light up, changing Beastboy's speedos into swimming trunks. Envy, Brave and Love looked at the new attire and sighed.
"Goodbye, sweet prince," they all said before erupting into giggles. Beastboy shook his head, leaving to the bathroom.
"No, Beastboy! Don't go in there!" Knowledge yelled. He jumped back, his hand almost on the handle.
"Why?"
"Raven is changing."
"You just saved my life," he said, taking another step back. "I'll just use the closet.
"That's where my unmentionables are!" Lust said, approaching her closet, "Unless, you want me to model some for you?"
"I'll just step outside," he said, leaving the room. Outside the door, he started to change. He was quick, returning to the room with Raven still in the bathroom.
"Raven, come on! We're all ready," Happy yelled.
"I don't know about this," Raven answered from the bathroom.
"You look fine," Brave said.
"Have you showed him yours?" she asked back.
"No. But it's the same as yours. So, you get the honors of presenting it," Love replied. Everyone felt as nervous as she did; they just didn't say it.
"Say something!" Rude said, shoving Beastboy forever. He knew the other emotions were watching him.
"Don't worry, Raven. I bet you look great."
"..."
"Come on, Rae," Lust said, knocking on the door, "I just want to give Beastboy a nice relaxing day in the Nevermore after yesterday." Raven thought over what Lust said. She was right; ever since the mall he had been doing a lot for her.
He did earn a day off..
With fear in her step, she opened the door. Raven didn't have her cloak to hide herself but she did her best to keep her composer. She was in a simple black bikini with a gold band over the middle of belly. Raven wasn't into the crazy string pieces that Lust had on and chose something simple.
Beastboy's mind was blown. He looked at her curves, her legs. He knew her uniform was snug but this, seeing her in something even more minimal...it felt free. He felt like he could die with a smile on his face. She was a little shy and modest and that made it better for him. Raven saw his eyes and saw a small hint of lust but mostly he admired her figure.
"How, mm do I look?"
He fought his primal side by not biting his lips. Beastboy cleared his throat.
"You look...You look way too good in that."
"Let's get going!"
Beastboy saw the rest of the emotions wearing the same bikini as Raven but in different colors. He blinked, the thoughts running through him.
I am not ready for this.
He felt the Beast getting wild deep inside. He needed something cold after seeing them all in the swimsuits. One, he could barely handle. But a handful? He wasn't sure what to do.
Raven walked behind him by Love, Envy and Rude. Envy moved closer to her, nudging her naked side.
"Did you see him look at you?" she asked.
"His eyes were close like this morning, but it's not the same," Love said. "It didn't have the affection like before."
"Yeah but, at least we got something," Rude said.
"Let's hope Lust knows what she's doing." added Raven.
Love smile. "Oh Raven None of us know what we are doing."
They made their way to the jungle clearing. Beastboy saw a beautiful large pool and beach chairs. The pool itself even connected to a large waterfall. Beastboy looked at the waterfall looming ahead, his fists clenching.
"I'm sorry," he said. Raven and her emotions stopped, knowing why. Raven's face was filled with horror; everyone looked at Lust in shock. She didn't seem to understand but she felt the air grow cold. Lust panicked, the realization hitting her quickly. She had forgotten how his parents had passed.
"Beastboy, I…"
He turned, causing her to stop. He saw the dismay in the emotions. There was silence, filled with the crashing water. He smiled, the tears forming.
"I'm okay. Sorry about that," he said. He wiped his tears, trying to regain himself. "Like I said, it still gets to me but I'll be fine." He pointed at Brave, "I bet you I can climb the trees faster."
"You are on!" Brave said with a smirk. It didn't take them long to realize what he was doing. Soon enough, everyone was having fun again. He seemed more free in the jungle, moving about in the green nearby. Lust was quick to tell him that the jungle was different from the Nevermore forest. It was better, a creation of her own much like Happy's realm no monster just them and peaceful wildlife.
Playing by the waterfall, swinging along the vines and splashing with everyone; it was spread all around. He was even almost burned by Rage for pushing her into the water (he knew better but still!). Running endlessly around with Envy, Happy, Brave, and Lust. He tried to get Knowledge, Wisdom, Rude, and Timid to do something but they stayed by the beach chairs. All the while, not too far, Love trailed behind him with a smile.
Raven noticed that Beastboy and everyone were carefree, expressing themselves. It didn't surprise her as much. He always seemed to cause this with her emotions; he was the main topic in the Nevermore since last few year. Despite all the fun and carefree, something still bothered Raven. Despite it all, Beastboy still had white noise - nothing seemed to break him through.
"I don't get it," Lust whispered. Everyone had tried to something out of him yet it was still noise.
"I didn't either," Envy added, "You would think he would feel at least something."
"Maybe he is?" Timid suggested.
"I'm sure he is," Wisdom said.
"But the white noise," Love said, pouting.
"Why are you guys talking about this next to me?" Raven asked.
"Come on, Raven! You have to be part of this," Happy replied.
"I put on a bikini for him. That's as far as I said I'll go."
"But nothing is working."
"So?"
"Fine! I had one last trick left," Lust said, "Wardrobe malfunction." he reached Behind he back
"You dare?" Raven asked. Lust smiled and walked past her.
"Why not? It would be like getting even. We did get a pretty good show yesterday. And besides, it doesn't have to be our wardrobe malfunction. It can be his," Lust said. Raven knew Lust would rather stare at Beastboy all day if given the possibility. She was about to yell at Lust to get back but even Raven saw it. She couldn't stop thinking of Beastboy naked.
"Wait!" Raven said, stopping her, "To save us all from embarrassment, I'll talk to him."
"To save you the embarrassment." Added Rude.
Beastboy was finally glad to have a minute to himself. He was stretching over one of the areas, giving Raven a small show. He was silent for a while before eyeing the bodies of the girls all around him. He barely knew he blushed whenever Happy or Lust hugged him. Or how cute Timid and Love were.
I need a break. This is too much.
He sat at the pool edge, kicking the water. He was doing his best to stay on guard but it was so relaxed here. He could just fall asleep without a care in the world. Yet, he kept himself shut tight. The smallest slip up and Raven would know; they all would. He closed his eyes, laying on his back. The thought of Raven on the roof hit him and he grinned.
Why is she so charming? Can't ever forget that. wonder if Cy can ever get that on photo… it's not nice here it almost like wisdom realm really put me at ease. Wonder how it going to be after are deal is over.
Beastboy understand so much about Raven. He understands her on a whole new level and it not even over.
When and how should I tell her. more importantly what if she asked about early, I know she knows something is up. Doesn't help that I basically ran away from her. Not sure of i can find a way out of that.
A shadow cast over him. He opened his eyes, seeing Raven.
Speak of the literal devil…wow that is so literal now.
"Mind if we talk for a bit?"
"More questions about the Beast?"
"No. Just whatever else I suppose."
Raven sat by him, her emotions keeping their distance. Minutes ticked by and she still hadn't said a word. He was always the one to start a conversation. Yet, this time he chose to wait for her. She didn't know where to begin.
"So, where would you like to go?"
"Hm?"
"I said, I would show you the creepiest places in the world. Where would you want to go?"
"I know dimensions creepier than anything you can think of," she replied with a smile.
"Would you show me then?"
"I think they're way out of your league."
"C'mon. I get scared but just a little," he said. She gave him a look, smirking, "Ok. I scream like a little girl. But, I still want to go!"
"Sure," she said, laughing. She saw the joy in his eyes, "Don't ruin it or I'll leave." He pouted, remaining quiet. Raven dipped her feet in the pool, kicking the water. Beastboy had been focused on her reflection for a while but when she started to kick the water, his focus moved to her legs. Up it went to her body and finally her eyes. She tilted her head, confused with his focus.
What is he looking at? His ears are a little red, too.
Beastboy, knowing he was caught, tossed himself in the water. He resurfaced, appreciating the cool water. Pulling his hair back, Raven captured the image in the brain, her heart skipping a beat.
"Come on. Let's play in the water for a bit," he said, reaching for her. She was smitten, almost speechless.
"Why not? My feet are already wet," she replied. She dove in, hair sticking over her cheeks. They played tag with their powers. Beastboy transformed into several animals, even giving her a ride as a dolphin. The emotions stayed away from the pool, giving her alone time with Beastboy. Everything was going well but the white noise was still there, his emotions still hidden. He didn't know how he managed but he considered himself lucky.
After a few hours, they were back in her room, still wearing the swim gear. Robin had sent them a message not too long ago. He was in the city with Starfire for a while; they were in charge of watching the scanners. But, mostly, they were free to relax.
As they lingered in her room, Raven realized that she had gotten used to seeing Beastboy in her bed. It should have been shocking but she wasn't opposed to the idea. In some way, she wanted him to stay longer. She figured it was probably Lust or Love's doing but wasn't sure. Yet, she felt something.
"Today was fun, Rae. Let's do it again some time," he said, heading towards the door. He was joking, of course. Beastboy didn't think he could survive seeing Raven in a bikini again.
"Yeah...I'd like that," she said. His eyes widened and he turned around, seeing Raven wave him goodbye. She was smiling, something so captivating that made him pause. He wasn't sure if it was the way the light hit her or the outline of her flawless frame or even the look in her eyes. It could have been the smile that was so rare. All he knew was that he loved her.
The door closed behind him but he wanted to see her once more. He knew his guard was at its breaking point and left. With resolve, he held his fist in the air as he walked.
"I would like that too."
Beastboy's emotions had been leaking ever since Raven sat next to him. She saw the undying happiness, the way he looked at her. That smile on his face and finding joy in her words. But, the affection she saw in him was directed towards her. She wasn't in the right to dig deeper so she let the opportunity pass. She sat down on her bed, closing her eyes.
"Wow" said Lust. She was satisfied, she did want more, she will always want more of beastboy but right now she was just satisfy. "It was everything I ever wanted."
"Me too" said Raven
Everything felt warm and so pleasant. She laid back, sighing softly. She will remember his emotions. Nothing in her life can compare to this feeling right now. Soon, she was asleep letting his emotion dance across her senses.
"Mission accomplished."
