AN: Alright so after writing the first chapter of Multiverse of Power, I came back and re-read through this story, and realized there was a lot more I wanted to do with it. Sorry for the super long hiatus, I expect to be posting both stories more regularly!

Somewhere over the MidWest

November 11th 09:36

In Happy Harbor, the team was currently celebrating Kid Flash's birthday. Gohan had a desire to attend – while he may not be overly fond of the speedster, Robin was thick as thieves with him, so Gohan wanted to get to know the boy better – but today wasn't a day of celebration. Instead, it was a day of methodical work. True to his word, Piccolo was working to become the Kami of their new Earth. For that to work, he decided he needed to have a Lookout. And of course, Piccolo is sentimental enough to want it to be as identical to the original as he can. I guess that is coming from the part of him that spent centuries protecting the planet. In truth, Gohan wasn't frustrated with this, as he knew this was a coping mechanism for his mentor to fully accept the destruction of their old planet. The two, along with Tien and his student Zatanna, had been hard at work rebuilding it from the ground up, so to say. Piccolo was able to take a chunk of ground out of central Wyoming, recommended by almost everyone since it was largely uninhabited, and use the materials within that chunk to carve out all of the necessary pieces of the floating sanctum. How he was able to get it to float, Gohan had yet to figure out, but deciphering the physics of a mystical island in the sky was a headache he was looking forward to avoiding. As he lay another piece of tile onto the circular lookout, he received a notification from his transmitter.

'Mission given by Batman. So far it looks like a job we will be able to handle, if we need you we will let you know. Enjoy your day off. – Robin' Gohan absentmindedly nodded to the device, as if it would send the gesture, and got back to work on the tile. The building would not be complete for some time, as the details were very meticulous and would need refinement to reflect the prestige and responsibility that the inhabitant would be bestowed. Gohan grabbed another tile and went to lay it in, while making idle talk with his teammate.

"So this is the place that had the Hyperbolic Time Chamber right? You said that's where you and your dad trained for a year while only a week passed by outside?" Zatanna's similar grief over her father made it easy to talk about his past Earth without closing in on himself.

"A day, and yes. I don't know if Piccolo will be able to recreate it, but it was fantastic for training. The further you got from the entrance, the higher the gravity got, and the more temperature fluctuated. It was the ultimate training location.

"I am so excited to help build this place. Master Shinhan has spoken fondly of training here in preparation for Vegeta." The girl was grinning at her friend, when the smile immediately wiped off her face and she looked upwards with a look of awe and slight fear. "That power, it's unreal! It feels as powerful as you at full power Super Saiyan!"

Speak of the devil, Gohan thought as he also felt a prickle at the back of his neck. Craning his head upward, he sensed the runaway prince approaching the planet quickly.

"It appears Vegeta is only a day behind schedule," Piccolo said from behind his student. He too was looking up in the clouds towards the direction that they detected the energy.

"I suppose our peace could only last for so long before the prince had to come and ruin it," Tien said as he walked up and placed a hand on Zatanna's shoulder. Gohan knew that the two had never seen eye to eye, as there was a deep well of resentment from Tien towards the man responsible for the death of his best friend Chiaotzu.

"Well I for one am glad he's returning! I might actually break a sweat during training soon," Gohan taunted. That was the downside to his embracing of his Saiyan ancestry. As his life became more devoted towards training, he found himself slipping into the Saiyan arrogance mindset, which he was trying desperately to avoid. The three only had to wait a few minutes, before the familiar circular spaceship with 'CAPSULE CORP' in large writing on the side expertly landed on a finished portion of the lookout. The ship depressurized, and slowly Vegeta emerged down the stairs that deployed from the door of the ship. He glanced at the three other Z Fighters before his eyes fell on the half-Saiyan.

"Brat. I see you have accepted your Saiyan pride after all. A lot better than that oaf you call your father at least." Gohan was momentarily confused until he glanced down and realized he was still wearing the Saiyan armor Piccolo had made for him. He just looked at the prince and gave him a trademark Son family grin, scratching the back of his neck. Vegeta turned his head and nodded to the other two, in a rare show of respect. "Triclops, Green Bean." His eyes rested on the young magician, and raised an eyebrow at her Crane-style gi. "I see you have already started to train some of the weaklings on this planet. Hmmph. At least she isn't completely hopeless. She is as strong as Recoome was."

"Not that we aren't glad to see you Vegeta," Gohan was surprised to note the relative lack of sarcasm in Piccolo's tone, "but you are unexpectedly late from your one-month mark to Gohan. I know you are a timely person who keeps his word."

"You are correct, Namekian," at this, Vegeta walked forward toward the group, arms crossed and a grimace on his face, "but I made some discoveries along the way. It turns out, Planet Vegeta was only destroyed a scant few weeks ago, around the time we appeared in this joke of a universe.

"What? Destroyed? By who?" Gohan asked, surprised that the planet lasted so long, and worried about a being out there willing to destroy entire planets.

"It appears there are some events that will be constant throughout every universe. One of those is my home being destroyed by that bastard Frieza. He exists in this universe, and has a powerful Saiyan at his beck-and-call." The burning hatred in Vegeta's eyes was suffocating, and Gohan felt the same hatred burning in his own. They were his people too, after all.

"So now not only do we have to deal with Cell returning, but Frieza too?" Tien muttered softly, but Vegeta picked up on it immediately, and stalked over to the tall three-eyed human. Zatanna went wide-eyed at the intimidating Saiyan, and backed up until she bumped into Gohan.

"What do you mean, 'Cell returning'? I thought the brat here destroyed him in the previous universe." The venom was practically dripping from his voice with every word he spoke. Gohan stepped around Zatanna and came to rest right in front of the prince.

"So did I, but about a week or two back, he emerged from a dimensional rift. I would have been able to destroy him then and there, but there was…interference." Anyone could hear the annoyance from the last word, and Gohan had not failed in any way to make his displeasure with the Son of Krypton known to anyone who asked. "He escaped with some of the villains of this Earth. I have been meditating whenever I can trying to find the bastard, but it's like he disappeared from this dimension.

"Hmmph. Well, that is a problem for the future. For now, Gohan!" The teenager in question was surprised to hear his name used by the usually rude Saiyan, but straightened a little bit anyways. "You will begin training with me tomorrow. It is time for you to become the elite Saiyan warrior you are meant to be, and prepare to take on the legacy of our race. Meet me at dawn, and not a moment later." Without another word, Vegeta capsulized his ship and blasted off the lookout. Almost immediately afterward, a beeping came from both Zatanna and Gohan's transmitters.

'Assistance needed in South Dakota, coordinates sent now. –Kid Flash'. With a nod to their mentors, and a quick spell changing into her superhero outfit, Zatanna and Gohan flaired their auras before blasting off towards where they sense Wally's ki to be emanating from. Gohan was in his Super Saiyan form like always – though he had been training to master the Ascended state, he could currently only hold it for an hour or two at a time before succumbing to exhaustion – and even then, Zatanna was having trouble keeping up.

It truly is amazing the amount of power these Saiyans have compared to humans, Zatanna thought idly while pushing her power to its limit to keep up. Within a minute and a half, they arrived at the location, breaking their flight abruptly and floating in the air. Below them, on the icy ground, was Kid Flash desperately trying to find a way to fight off Vandal Savage. A smirk made its way onto Gohan's face, before he crossed his arms and nodded his head towards Zatanna.

"This is your first real test. He is powerful, but arrogant. If anything gets out of hand, I will assist."

With a quick glance to Gohan, Zatanna gripped her fists tightly and began to shout as she brought out her power and went as high as she could. Gohan couldn't help but notice the grimace on her face as she did so. The rest of the team didn't realize just how taxing and painful it is on the body to bring out one's full strength. As one got stronger, it became more manageable, but even then, powering up to an Ascended Super Saiyan sometimes felt like he was being ripped in two. Noticing the screaming stop, Gohan's mind came back to the present as he observed Zatanna slowly lower herself to the ground 15 feet away from Vandal, flaming white aura around her. It was tough for him to tell, but it felt like she was even stronger than Recoome was. I will have to get with Vegeta and have him help me build a scouter. It would be useful to gauge her training.

Zatanna was apparently not in the mood for any games. "Kid, continue on your mission. I got this from here." At her words, Gohan glanced to the speedster in question, who was slack-jawed and slightly trembling at the power radiating in waves from the magician. He may not be able to sense ki, but the gusts of wind coming from her were enough for anyone to tell just how strong she had gotten. He seemed to shake himself out of it, nod towards her, glance up at Gohan, and speed away. Savage just stood straight upright, and stared down at the teenaged girl.

"Your power is impressive girl. I have been observing you for some time, and your strength has gone beyond what any of us could have predicted. I will give you one offer, and one offer only. Join me, and I will personally train you to be the best this planet has ever seen."

"No thanks," Zatanna replied, as she easily slipped into an offensive stance of the Crane school that Gohan had seen countless times from Tien. "I already have a master, and he would be offended if I quit before we got to the good stuff." On her last syllable, Zatanna shot towards Savage, catching him by surprise and landing a hit straight to his face, before spinning and kicking him in the gut, sending him careening backwards. The immortal slid across the ground ten feet, but caught himself and remained upright.

"Like I said, impressive, but not refined yet." Savage shot towards Zatanna at even faster speed and started throwing punches and kicks at the girl at a speed she could barely track. Gohan saw her barely dodging and blocking blows, and smirked to himself.

Vandal is toying with her. He could easily finish this fight if his ability to go toe to toe with my Super Saiyan state is any indication. He is testing her, which is exactly what I hoped for. Gohan knew that Zatanna wasn't powerful enough to fight the immortal yet, but figured that he would be exactly the type to push an opponent, which is exactly what Zatanna needed at the moment. Up until now, she had primarily trained with Tien, and occasionally sparred against Piccolo or Gohan. She needed to see what it was like to fight against someone new, and fight for her life.

Zatanna's speed was impressing Gohan. She dodged another flurry of punches before dashing backward and putting her hands in a familiar triangle. "TRI-BEAM HA!" Gohan's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He knows for a fact that Tien had yet to start teaching her the more advanced energy attacks. Savage himself smirked and slapped the blast away.

"This has gone on long enough. You amused me child, but my patience has run out." In an instant, Savage dashed forward and attacked with even greater speed, hitting Zatanna left and right. He did a roundhouse kick to her chest, pushing her away before standing upright and going to snap. Gohan decided it was the time to intervene. As he was speeding towards the immortal, the villain in question snapped, causing a flash of bright light and an ear shattering sound. It reminded the half-Saiyan of Tien's Solar Flare, and completely disoriented all of his senses, including his ki sensing. When he finally came back around, Savage was nowhere to be found, and Zatanna was on the ground, breathing heavily and seemed to be fighting to stay conscious. Gohan floated down to her, and smiled.

"You did really well!" Gohan praised. "This is the kind of fighting you will be doing as a Z-Fighter. We aren't like the Justice League, or even like the Team. We fight for our lives, and we fight to win. Come on, I will get you back up to the Lookout." Zatanna smiled half-heartedly, and then passed out. Gohan shook his head slightly, picked her up, and shot off towards their two mentors, prepared to explain why he was unscathed and she looked like she got hit by a train. It would probably be an interesting conversation.

AN: That is the chapter! Let me know what you think, and again, apologies for the long stretch of time without updates! Also was kinda drunk writing the back half of the chapter, so if there are spelling errors, I will go back through and correct them.
