"I couldn't stop him," he said, voice soft. He looked at Chloe, felt her judging him. What had he done? He had caused this man to jump. For once, he made a human do something. And he didn't feel pride or accomplishment. He didn't understand what he was feeling.
""Are you okay?" Chloe asked him, hand resting on his forearm. He hadn't moved since he spoke. Hadn't looked away, had stayed looking at her. Was he really a monster, the same one that had been feared for millennium. He looked – really looked – at her and not through her. Swallowing his pride, he finally spoke.
"I couldn't stop him," he said again. "What am I feeling?" He really didn't understand human emotion, just desires. But this feeling was one he did not like, was one nobody could like.
"Guilt," she answered, leading him away from the rooftop and back to the ground. Little did he know that in a few short minutes, his container would be recovered and he'd get to experience a few more human emotions. Betrayal. Anger. Longing.
