A Dream Come True

By: Phoenix Ride

As Chief Bogo had some of his officers go to lock up Ms. Bellwether and her goons, taking them to the prescient that lay just outside, the cape buffalo's attention turned down to where two grinning figures still stood.

Nicholas Wilde and Judy Hopps. A fox and a rabbit. Whoever thought that these two natural enemies could work together so well, that they helped stop the most violent plan Chief Bogo had ever witnessed in his career.

Signaling another officer nearby to help those two out of the observer pit, Chief Bogo watched as the two animals climbed, and noticed with concern that Judy seemed to be limping as she scaled.

Once her and Nick were both out of the pit Chief Bogo could see why. Wrapped around Judy's right leg, a red handkerchief had been bound tight. Judy had been hurt, and needed to see a doctor right away about that leg.

"Well done you two" said Bogo to Nick and Judy " Higgins, go ahead and call an ambulance for Ms. Hopps here. I have to get back to the station. There's booking to be done."

"Don't forget the evidence Chief," said Nick, tossing the carrot pen towards Bogo.

Bogo caught the item, nodded to the fox, then left, Bellwether's confession right in his hand.

As soon as the Chief was gone, Officer Higgins immediately went to make the call for Judy, leaving the fox and the rabbit alone to reflect about their case.

"Well meter maid" said Nick, looking at Judy " it looks like you've officially solved your first crime."

"It wouldn't have been possible without you Nick" said Judy with a smile "I'm still surprised that the real culprit was Bellwether all along."

"Surprise does come with the world" said Nick " Speaking of which I'd better leave. The bridge won't be waiting forever."

"Wait!" said Judy, stopping Nick as he started to walk off.

The fox looked back to see Judy holding something tightly in her paws.

His green eyes flashed in recognition.

It was the form she had given him, on that day she declared that she wanted him around, to be much more than her friend.

Judy's little nose was twitching and nervous. Would Nick be her partner on the ZPD?

Ever since she had messed up at that press conference, and Nick had walked away, she had held on to this form, hoping, that in some way, that she could have Nick forgive her and come back.

Silence gripped the air of the museum, as Nick glanced from Judy, to the form, and back again. A smile lit up on his face.

"Sure thing Carrots," he said.

Judy jumped up and yelled with glee, rushing to hug Nick, tears of happiness flowing from her eyes. Nick hugged her in return.

Somewhere in the past, there was a little bunny crying out that one day her dreams would come true. Now, in the present, they finally did.

The End
