Judy woke up at 5:00 a.m. as she always did every morning. She got dressed and grabbed her supplies and was out the door in no time. She hopped happily out of her building and made her way to Nick's "house."
He lived in a van with Finnick, so it wasn't quite home sweet home but Judy was just glad he had a roof over his head, though she worried about him all the time. Though today, she had a surprise for him.
When she finally got there, she knocked on the van doors and Nick opened the door with a sleepy yawn and a half smile. He was obviously very tired. She giggled softly at his tired state.
"Hey Carrots, what's shakin'?"
"Nothing much, slick, but I have a surprise for you! Are ya' ready?" Judy asked with a giant smile across her tiny, furry face. Nick smiled more and put a thumb up.
"All ready, Judy. Let's head out," Nick said as he closed the van door behind him as he stepped out. Suddenly, Judy tugged at his paw and started hopping very quickly.
Once they were a good distance away from the station, Judy slowed down a bit. Nick was very out of breath.
"Whoa there, excited about something are we?" Nick asked with a chuckle.
"Actually yes, I am really excited because I wanted to ask you something, Nick."
"Shoot, Judy. You know you can ask me anything."
"Alright well, I wanted to ask you to…to…to move in with me!"
Nick stopped dead in his tracks. He looked down at Judy with big, shocked eyes.
"What did you just say?"
"I want you to move in with me, Nick! I hate that you live in that van where anything could happen to you and don't get me wrong, I don't think Finnick would do anything to you per say, but he's not the best roommate to you. I would love it if you would live with me. I know my apartment is small but we could fit another bed in there or you could sleep on my bed and I'll just get a sleeping bag or something-"
Judy stopped rambling to find Nick's arms around her in a tight hug. She smiled at him and hugged back.
Nick pulled away and looked into Judy's big, purple eyes and smiled with tears in his eyes. Judy didn't know why he was looking at her like that. However, she smiled back.
"Thank you so much, Judy…" Nick dragged his sentence on and then shut his eyes tightly before he leaned in and kissed her softly.
Judy was stunned and had no idea what to do. She had never been kissed and never thought Nick of all animals would be the one to kiss her.
She realized after a few seconds that she really liked it.
Nick pulled back and put Judy's face in his paws.
"Judy, I'm sorry to be so forward but I just…I think I'm in love with you."
Judy's mouth was open a bit in shock from the news and the unexpected kiss but she couldn't say she wasn't happy about this but she didn't know how she was feeling if she was honest to herself.
"Nick…I…I am shocked but I don't honestly know how I feel about you. I know I like you and care about you and…" Judy didn't finish her sentence. She thought about the last few weeks she had spent with Nick. She realized that the only thing that gave her more joy than being a cop was in fact, Nick. "Nick, I love you too!" Judy shouted as she twisted him around and dipped him before planting a passionate kiss right on his lips.
Nick was in shock now, but he didn't waste time as he kissed her right back and picked her up and spun her around in circles as they kissed right outside the police station, not caring one but who saw them or what some animals would say or do. All they cared about was each other and how they made one another so happy and couldn't ask for better partners, roommates and now, lovers.
