"Blaine Anderson-Hummel?"
"Yes, sir. Here!"
Adam looked up to see a man with black hair held down with a little too much gel walking towards his desk. His hair was gelled back in a way to frame his face, olive skin with honey-brown eyes and a large smile. Adam couldn't help but feel he'd seen him somewhere beforeā¦
"Is this my syllabus?" he asked gesturing with his left hand to a stack of papers. A silver band winked up to Adam from his ring finger.
"Ah, yes. This is," Adam said. "Take time to look it over and come talk to me if you have any questions."
"Okay, Thank you." Blaine turned to walk away, but stopped in mid-step. "Um, sir?"
"Yes, Blaine, what is it?"
"It says here you went to NYADA and graduated a couple of years ago?"
"I did, actually. Now that I think about it, I knew someone with your last name. Tall lad, impeccable sense of style, incredible voice. He was actually in my acapella group. His name was-"
"Kurt Hummel."
Adam looked up, startled. He took in the sad smile on Blaine's face, the wedding ring on his finger. Blaine Anderson⦠His eyes widened as the stories told around the loft came flooding back to him along with the few pictures he'd caught a glimpse of from Kurt and Rachel's high-school years.
"Oh. . . You're HIS Blaine. The one who he was engaged to."
Blaine gave a small smile and nodded his head. "Yep, that'd be me. Took some large bumps in the road and very last minute planning, but we finally got married just last year."
"Ah," Adam said with a nod. "Well, it's an honour to finally meet the famous Blaine. Give my regards to Kurt, alright? Haven't heard much from him."
"Of course," Blaine said, turning around and heading back to his seat.
Over the year, Adam saw a lot of Kurt. He would come to surprise Blaine after class and even brought Rachel with him a few times, whom Adam also noticed wore a wedding ring. He would watch Blaine's face light up as he walked over to his husband, as well dressed as always. Kurt would even go by the teacher's desk to talk to Adam. Whether it was to ask him about how Blaine was doing or just to make idle conversation, Adam was glad for the company all the same.
As they walked out one day, hand in hand, Adam smiled to himself. Yes, he and Kurt hadn't worked out, but Blaine was his soulmate. And as Adam fingered his wedding band, he couldn't have been happier that he found his own.
